Wish I didn't upgrade to iTunes 10... Having issues.

Ok so I have over 1200 songs on my iTunes and I saw it upgraded so I figure why not... that was a mistake as it is flawed at the moment. Some of my music is in MIDI format which was working fine on the previous version. Now ALL MIDI files read as Quicktime movies for whatever reason. Even further I tried to make them MP3 versions to attempt to remedy the situation, and besides not sounding the same which may be format related, I discovered a lovely flaw that half the time, MP3 version creation makes iTunes 10 "quit unexpectedly" I have also reported it to apple. Any ideas what I can try because it comes up with a rather annoying black movie.

Any ideas?

  • I am trying to update my RSS via sound cloud to iTunes but having issues... please help

I am trying to update my RSS via sound cloud to iTunes but having issues.
I currently have my podcast working on iTunes but I have decided to change where I have them hosted.  I moved my podcasts over to Soundcloud and currently have the rss feed but I would like to update my iTunes podcast with this so that all my podcasts showing up on sound cloud will sync up and automatically update.
    here is my rss feed:
    feed://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/48458062-the-collective-podcast/tracks
    Podcast via Soundcloud:
    http://soundcloud.com/the-collective-podcast
    my podcast on iTunes:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-collective-podcast/id662393388
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

The feed in use by iTunes is http://thecollectivepodcast.podomatic.com/rss2.xml , not the one you list. It has one episode, whose media file URL is
    http://thecollectivepodcast.podomatic.com/enclosure/2013-06-14T16_06_53-07_00.mp 3
Your feed at http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/48458062-the-collective-podcast/tracks has no episodes.
You will obviously need to get this sorted out before you can proceed. Once you have the soundcloud feed working properly you will need to add a special tag to the original feed in order to transfer the Store to using the new feed. The method is decribed here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move
Please make sure you are completely clear about it before proceeding, and check that the new feed works by subscribing manually in iTunes before you try moving the Store to it.

  • Wish I didn't upgrade! and now I need help to figure out how to make it wor

I have a Windows XP Pro 2nd edition with IE ver 6.0.2 (but I normally use FireFox)
I've never had any trouble with iTunes until iTunes "forced" me to upgrade my iTunes applicaiton to version 6 if I wanted to "purchase" music. (note to self: Purchase music from stores it's much safer)...
I upgraded and received no error messages. Trouble is now, when I launch the iTunes application it doesn't "open" ... although the iTunes process begins to run in the background process (ctraltdelete).
I have uninstalled and installed 5 different times and ways.
First uninstall was "typical" uninstall. THat didn't fix it.
Second uninstall was "typical" unistall from the Control Panel, and then I removed the folders from the "program File" folder. Still wouldn't work.
Third unintall was "typical" then I removed folders from local drive and removed all "known" registry "itune" keys. That didn't work.
Fourth uninstall was first a "repair" to itunes, and then a "typical" uninstall, then I removed folders, removed registry (does anyone know all of itunes registry keys? Maybe I am missing a few.. the only ones I know of is the "itune" reg). Then I looked through my start up menu from "msconfig" and took a look at my firewall program to see if there was anything preventing the program from running...
Fifth uninstall pretty much fruitless as my previous attempts.
I know it HAS to be a registry key of some sort.. here's why:
When I uninstall and reinstall (no matter how thourough) every time I install the iTunes program Windows XP has never ONCE recognized the new install of iTunes as a "NEW PROGRAM" and it should!
I need help... what registry keys should I be removing? ANyone suggest for me to remove Quick Time too? What about the ipod updater software? Any connection?
    HELP??????????????????
    THanks
    W.

    hi wmchisholm!
Trouble is now, when I launch the iTunes application it doesn't "open" ... although the iTunes process begins to run in the background process (ctraltdelete).
hmmm. is itunes.exe persisting in Task Manager? if so, first check up on these two possibilities:
iTunes 6 won't open on a Windows computer if firewall software is not up-to-date
iTunes for Windows doesn't open after upgrading
but if itunes.exe is disappearing after a few seconds, try the following technique:
Using MSCONFIG to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows
... and let us know the names (exact spelling please) of the start-up items that you had to disable in order to get itunes to launch. (there's a nasty piece of malware out there that has been causing "error-less" itunes launch failures since late October.)

  • Gingerbread - Six Reasons Why I Wish I Didn't Upgrade...

My phone has actually lost functionality after upgrading to Gingerbread.
Hopefully someone else can confirm these issues I've run across:
#1 - Previously I was able to configure email notifications to be silent with the only notification being the flashing LED.  Now it appears that I have to select a ringtone.  I have three Exchange Activesync accounts setup along with my Gmail account, I'd rather not have my phone dinging all day with each new email.  (Am I just missing something here?)
#2 - When using the keyboard with email or text messaging, I can hold down the period key to bring up the alternate characters but cannot select any from the bottom row.
#3 - Exchange Activesync intermittantly fails with an "Invalid Server Certificate" error however hitting "Retry" usually seems to then sync again.  This is with both an Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010 environment and with two different certificate CAs.
#4 - Google Reader now hangs all the time to the point that it's unusable.  After popping in and out of a few RSS feeds, I get the little loading wheel and it seems to spin forever.
#5 - Navigation within Google Maps has been buggy and locked up multiple times.  Several times it seems to have occurred when switching from portrait to landscape; the screen becomes distorted and hangs for about 15 seconds or so.
#6 - Battery life is noticable decreased.

This works but you have to ring finger down below the period to get the lower list to highlight and selesct...

I have notic this if I activated the Data Saver option under the battery setting because it disconnects the data connect when device is sleep except when it is set to sync then it comes up for a minute ad then shut down data when done..
#4 - Google Reader now hangs all the time to the point that it's unusable.  After popping in and out of a few RSS feeds, I get the little loading wheel and it seems to spin forever.
No responce on this because I really dont use Google Reader, maybe someone else has answer here.
#5 - Navigation within Google Maps has been buggy and locked up multiple times.  Several times it seems to have occurred when switching from portrait to landscape; the screen becomes distorted and hangs for about 15 seconds or so.
Never seen this on my device and I use Navigation daily..
#6 - Battery life is noticable decreased.
I get 24 Hours easily with extended battery which is a improvement from what I usually had with Froyo..   But I also use Juice Defender so I may have a advantage...
Im sorry to hear you are having so many issues but I have been loving GB on my device..
Figured there'd be one of these in here.

  • Sun Solaris 10,Upgrade 8 or higher,having issues with VxFS,for Oracle 11gr2

A while ago, we tried doing a prototype upgrade of our main Oracle 10g db to Oracle 11gr2.
The OS on which our Oracle 10g is running is Sun Solaris 10, upgrade 4.
According to Oracle 11gr2 documentation, we need Sun Solaris 10, upgrade 6 or higher for Oracle 11g2.
The filesystem we are using is VxFS, Veritas File System.
According to our system administrator, we had issues , making Sun Solar 10, upgrade 8 , work with the VxFS filesystem.
I was wondering if anybody is running Oracle 11g2 on Sun Solaris 10 upgrade 6 or higher with VxFS file system.
At present, our Oracle db upgrade project is on a hold, because of the above issue. So your help on this , can really help us in figuring out if there is an issue between VxFS filesystem and Sun Solaris 10 OS.
    Thanks
    Ashish

    Hi Ashish,
We are not running Veritas Cluster file system.
We tried moving our Oracle 10g r2 db on ZFS ,before doing the upgrade and performance on ZFS was worst.
ZFS has certain memory parameter setting. If you did not configure that then ZFS will eat your complete system memory.
My system administrator, has gotten a copy of Solaris 10 upgrade 9 and will try that with VxFS.
I was curious to find out if folks are running Oracle 11g on Sun Solaris 10 with VxFS file system and if they had experienced any issue. If you can Install Vxfs on Oracle Soalris 10 U9, then according to me there sholudn't be any limitations for an oracle database.
Recently i installed Oracle database 11.2.0.2 on one of my test server. I have created two databases - one on ZFS and another on ASM.
    Refer:
    http://appsdbaworkshop.blogspot.com/2010/10/installation-of-11202-on-oracle-solaris.html
We dont have any performance issues. We are testing it for the performance benchmarks on both of the filesystem.
If you can Install Vxfs on Oracle Soalris 10 U9, then according to me there sholudn't be any limitations for an oracle database.

  • Itunes match having issues playing some of my songs

I recently got itunes match over winter break and it's been working pretty well. Although I do have some issues with playback. I noticed some songs just get skiped over. I have deleted them off icloud and my itunes and resynced them back on but icloud still manages to skip over them. Can anyone else tell me how I can get icloud to play the songs.

If it happens again, do NOT delete the songs from your library. Rather, highlight and choose "Convert ID3 tags..." Pick a likely value, such as v2.3, and after the conversion, try to play them.
iTunes tends to be finicky/strict/incompetent (pick your own interpretation) about the ID3 tags in MP3 files, and a conversion is often enough to fix the problem.
If the song is no longer in your library, you can resort to a 3rd party tag fixing program.

  • My iTunes is having issues contacting the iPhone software update server. Help?

I click Check for Update in iTunes and it gives me an error saying, "The iPhone software update server could not be contacted." and then tells me to make sure my network settings are correct and my connection is active. But I can still get on internet with my computer.

That error indicates that something is blocking your computer's communication with the update server. Remove your third-party security software and disable your firewall, then try again. As long as your phone isn't jail broken, which would also block the connection to the update server, it should work just fine after that

  • Is the iTunes Store having issues?

Just wondering, does any body else have trouble accessing the iTunes Store this weekend? I find that it takes me several tries of closing and reloading the program and a lot of screwing around with the actual loading sequences of the Store. Like I have to cancel it and reload it. Anyone else? Thanks!

It's been fine here in New Zealand, although there was a short period when images wouldn't load on some items but reloading the store made the images load properly. All seems fine today no more load issues.

Removed. Re-synced. Still not working. Factory reset the phone, re-installed music... made a GIANT "Other" file instead of actually adding any songs.
Factory resetting again. Any other solutions?
EDIT: If It helps, I'm doing this all over USB connection, not trying to sync music through wifi or anything.

  • Upgraded to iTunes 6 - now iTunes won't work!

I have an older G4 and have been running iTunes since I upgraded to OSX about a year and a half ago. Never any problems. Just recently got an iPod from a friend and have been using that with no probs. for about 2 weeks. I was promped to update both iTunes and iPod software and did so like I always have. Now iTunes wont open at all. no error message, nothing. I trashed my old iTunes and re-installed a new one, no good. All of my software is updated. I am running OSX 10.3.9. I have seen many of the same postings but they all seem to be coming from PC users... hope someone can point me in the right direction.
    Thanks!

I had the same problem - upgraded to ITunes 6 and suddenly the application stopped working. I also tried uninstalling, and reinstalling old versions as well as v6. I called Apple, and they had me set up a test user to see if it was a systemwide failure (if it was just the upgraded Itunes on my main user that was affected, then the basic Itunes available for the test user should be fine). But it was systemwide, so I had to back up all data and reinstall the operating system, then run a software update to get my system back up to speed. After the software update, I ran a disc permissions repair to the drive (available under "Applications", then "Utilities", then "Disk Utility"), which is recommended after each install of software or software updates (I didn't know this, being somewhat new to Mac). But now Itunes 6 works fine, with no problems! Hope this helps.

  • Are anyone else's ID3 tags all jacked up after upgrading to iTunes 11?

I have a large library that I'm downright OCD in managing tag information. All are set at v2.4 and genres, album artist, groups, both track and cd #'s as well as album art have been MANUALLY scrubbed religiously upon import to ensure a manageable library. I've noticed in the past that iTunes does a fairly horrible job in actually changing the ID3 tag info of the AAC or MP3 file itself resulting in horrible tag info when using the files in another system (Chrysler's MyGig system, Microsoft's Sync system, etc.) but iTunes always listed the songs correctly, making my smart playlists, sort and playback very easy and clean. That is until I upgraded to iTunes 11. Apparently they've re-read all the file ID3 tag info as I now have MANY different genres listed and album artist info has disappeared as well as track listing info. Do I need to get an external tag editor and redo all the tag editing I had done previously to now clean this up or have they fixed iTunes to do a better job of actually editing the file info itself?

Get Info on the song within iTunes is how I know the comment field is empty.
I don't have Match or iCloud enabled.
All other tag info is there and left untouched, only the comment field is blank. Tried removing and re-adding the tracks multiple times, but that didn't help.
Reason this annoys me is that I add information to my comment field such as additional genre/style information, band origin or location, related artists, etc. Very helpful stuff for smart playlists.
I can try Stephen Spark's suggestion to convert my ID3 tag version, but I've never, ever had to do that before, so, if iTunes 11 is suddenly only reliably reads one correctly it seems to be a bug with iTunes.

  • After upgrading to itunes 7.3.2 system sound does not work

I recently upgraded my itunes to 7.3.2 and the sound worked for a short time. it then began to cut on and off until ceasing to work completely after a day or so. I have run diagnostics and my computer can produce sound, but not in any programs or any of the system sounds. i reinstalled windows xp and the sound worked, but when i installed itunes again the sound once again stopped completely. i have checked all the drivers, codecs, hardware etc. and they seem to be in order. what is going on?

I really struggled with this one and my IT people couldn't help.  They suggested that I add my secure corporate website to the Java Exceptions Sites, and use the Java client, but that didn't work.  I tried the CITRIX Native CLient (ICA Client) and that didn't work either.  So, I searched my Mac for all of the instances of CitrixICAClient, or anything else with ICA in it.  I then deleted all of those files, shut down Safari, rebooted my computer and tried again to log into my corporate site using the Native Client conenction option.  I remembered from years ago, that the first time you try to connect using the native client, that Citrix plugin is downloaded.  THat's exactly what happened and I haven't had any more problems.  So apparently, you have to clean up a little adn make sure that any "old" citrix products are removed.
