Im trying to simply burn a disc. 4.7 gig disk. fresh boot.no errors upon project checkout.windows xp. project 4.17 gig. was able to burn a disc an hour ago. now cannot.
i get a msg saying, "Windows error 20: the process cannoit access the file because its being used by another process.:
This is insane. so is another message which interrupts a build and says, "The file doesnt not exist." there are others.
Be quiet. I programmed military contracts on rte 128 mass. for over 20 yrs. i worked for cos such as Sanders assoc, Lincoln Laboratories, etc. I even programmed the Minuteman Missile system. I know what im talking about and its this:
I...and ill bet many others...have spent DAYS trying to decode what a simple error message should have told me. In the case i mentioned 1st i have NO IDEA where to turn and that wouldnt be the case if the [removed] who programmed in the msg had bothered to name what file, process, and recommended course of action.
I can barely contain myself. This encore 2.0 [removed] isnt worth a cent if it costs users DAYS trying to figure out ITS INSIPID ASININE UNPROFESSIONAL error msgs.
Its not cute. and its not funny. and its not "in". Its [removed] software engineering.
if anyone can help, great. i posted a q earlier on dual discs and got nowhere.
I wouldnt sic this [removed] on the [removed] taliban themselves. Adobe ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Just look at all the qs in here. theres plenty others trying to decode encore 2.0 [removed], w/o help from common decency error msgs or the help files themselves- WHICH THEY SHOULDNT EVEN HAVE TO CONSULT, GIVEN THE ERROR MSG THEMSELVES TELL U NOTHING!!!
[Removed]. If id EVER written user unfriendly...check that ANTI-USER software like this they would have taken my [removed] pc away from me and sent me home.
If help given after this rant, ty. Sorry- but ive had it w these [removed] jerks. i just want to get the dvd burned and then ill go look at Sony.

Ill explain for you. Im working with about 30 files in my project. The error message should name the file- otherwise i dont know which is at fault.
Simple enough?
Still dont understand? Ok. Instead of "The file does not exist", the msg should read eg, "harbor.m2v not found". See? Harbor.m2v is the name of the file. Then i investigate where harbor.m2v is on my disk drive. Ok?
Stuff like that. huh.
Neil- the dual disks post is about 5 posts down in the list. In fact you DID answer me once, and asked me for further information. I did supply it and you never responded.

fresh boot doent mean i booted my machine in the morning for petes sake. obviously. It means i booted windows and immediately initiated Adobe Encore.
Finally, you ARE the only one who bothered with my initial plaint about dual discs. again i replied at length to you. If you still wish to be helpful, could you reply in that thread? Again its several article posts down, and about a week old.

I told u where i got into trouble. I tried to burn a 4.7 disc. Default settings. The idea you miss is instead of YOU telling me where i went wrong, the msgs should. Thats the WHOLE POINT OF ERROR MSGS, NO??? Otherwise why not just print out a skull and crossbones?
