Wish to learn BPM

Hello Experts,
I work in SAP MDM field and I wish to learn BPM. I have a few basic questions regarding the same:
1. What is the pre-requisite to learn BPM? I mean is JAVA etc required to learn BPM?
2. Can you please brief about BPM and also links to some good documentation which will give me step by step process to learn BPM?
3. What is difference between SAP Business workflow and SAP BPM?
Any other inputs will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance,
Regards

  • How difficult is it to learn BPM Suite, provided you are good in BPEL

    Hi All
I have good experience in Oracle SOA SUite 11g, particularly in implementing BPEL.
I want to know how tough is it to learn Oracle BPM Suite 11g. I'm not going for any training, Want to learn it myself.
Concepts wise, how different is BPM Suite from BPEL?
Please help me in this regard.
As always, I follow Handbooks from Oracle Press.
I've done it for ADF, SOA, and now, I want to do it for BPM too.
How good is that book, and please give me any other resources, keeping in mind, I'm a beginner for BPM Suite.

From my experience I feel BPEL has much more capability than BPM/BPMN. From learning point of view it is easier than BPEL as it has got fewer components compared to BPEL. Oracle Handbook cover basic topics like Hello World programs. Advance topics are hard to find on the web for BPM.

  • Learning Oracle BPM

Our client owns a bunch of enterprise tools and has for a while, yet none of them are currently being used. So on this project they wanted us to use all of these tools. My next job in this project is to learn then create a BPM project to run the work flow of this project, which will make our lives a lot easier later on. I have found only 1 tutorial and not the greatest documentation in the world. What would you guys suggest as a way to learn BPM. Were actually using ALBPM 6.0. Thanks in advanced for any responses!

  • How long does it take and how should I learn...

Hi. First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong forum.
I am new to web-design (as in brand-new xD) and wish to learn Dreamweaver.  With Dreamweaver being such a big application, with so many different tools etc I decided it would be best if I learned the languages I wish to use first, so as I know what Dreamwever is creating and I can 'fine-tune' my websites.
The languages I wish to learn are:
    HTML
    PHP
    Javascript
MySQL (I am aware that this isn't a 'language', but would still like to learn how it works and use it effectively)
    CSS
    My questions are:
In which order should I learn these languages?
Which version of each language should I learn?
For example should I learn HTML5, with it being relatively new and not widely supported, but with the support growing so fast would it be worth just learning HTML5 straight away?
Can you reccomend any books etc for me to learn with?  I am a full time college student, so will be teaching myself after college hours.
How long should I expect it to take to learn each language? (If you want to give the answer in days/months assume I will be spending 2hours per day average learning each language)
I do not want to learn every single detail about each language, but I do want to learn to a high enouhg level that I am comfortable with reading, understanding and editing my own code.
To help me understand your answers more clearly it would be great if you can just copy and paste this below (although feel free not to ):
What order should I learn these in?
    Language:
    Version:
How long (roughly) should it take?:
What resources van you reccomend for me to learn from?:
What experience do you have? (I'm just nosey like that :P):
    Other comments:
Please feel free to copy and paste the second half (with all the questions) as many times as you like for each language you choose to tell me about.
Any help would be very greatly appreciated and please, if you for some reason find this post offensive, think back to when you were learning; everyone has to start somewhere.
    Thanks for your time,
    Ryan

    Hi there
You will likely get better response by posting in the Dreamweaver forum.

  • Problem in updating files in BPM

    Hi ,
I have a question where I need to append two files and send them as one file at the receiver by using a coorelation.
Lets Say we have two files -File A and File B both in delete mode .Both  are required to be appended and sent as one file ,say AB on the basis of a correlation on a unique value .(e.g division number ).
Acc to the project requirement ,After sending a file A ,If once again a new file of A (e.g A(1)) is updated before the second file B reaches the BPM ; We should append the latest file( A(1) ) with B ,and send it across the receiver .(In this case the result file should become A(1)B  ).To achive this we are using a container operation in assign mode and hoping that every new message of same type is overwritten.
But everytime we are updating the file A it opens a new instance of BPM although the coorelation Id is same .
When we send file B with that coorelation ID as of file A,it closes both the instances and creates two file , AB and A(1)B.
We wish that the BPM discards the old file(A) and uses the updated file( A(1) ) in the same instance and puts it on the receiver .
I would like to know if XI behaves in this way only or we are missing something .
    Thanks and Regards ,
    Neha.

    Hi,
Why do you need 300 sequence files for 300 requirements??? You can keep each requirement in a seperate sequence in a single/multiple sequence files.
With regards to reading your variables, you can read from a file through activeX or easier still, doing it through a code module (say a LabVIEW VI or CVI module).

    Hi everybody!
    Help me pls!
I am learning BPM and want to make easy synchronous example.
RFC sends the request to BPM and recieves the response.
    My RFC is named Z_TEST_CALL_WEBSERVICE.
    I have created:
    in Design
    mi_rfc_request - abstract asynch interface (message = Z_TEST_CALL_WEBSERVICE)
    mi_rfc_response - abstract asynch interface (message = Z_TEST_CALL_WEBSERVICE.Response)
    mi_string_abstract - abstract synch interface (output message = Z_TEST_CALL_WEBSERVICE, input message = Z_TEST_CALL_WEBSERVICE.Response)
Test002_MyScenario_001 - integration process, that have:
    Receive0 - Receive step (name = Receive0, message = rfc_request, mode = Opens S/A Bridge, asynch interface = mi_string_abstract)
    Send0 - Send step (name = send0, mode = Closes S/A Bridge, message = rfc_response, Opened by = Receive0)
    rfc_request - comtainer element (category = abstract interface, type = mi_rfc_request)
    rfc_response - comtainer element (category = abstract interface, type = mi_rfc_response)
    in Configuration
have imported my Inegration Process and have named him "mybpm"
    receiver determination (Z_TEST_CALL_WEBSERVICE -> mybpm)
    interface determination (Z_TEST_CALL_WEBSERVICE -> mybpm, inbound interface = mt_string_abstract)

  • Guided Procedures and BPM

    Hello,
I read that GP as a portal workflow tool is going away and being replaced by BPM(Business Process Management)....i want to know the key differences between both of them .....and i also want to learn BPM.....can somebody provide useful documents on it....
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Anil

    Hi Anil
With BPM, you have more facility to develop business process. You have a tool called Process Composer in NWDS, where you can develop using a high level interface.
BPM isn't complete as GP, because it is in initial versions, but SAP is going to increment this process
You can learn more about BPM in [https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-bpm|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-bpm].
There are a lot of interest think about bpm there.
    All the best

  • Learning to use systemd

I've been a casual/slightly-technical user of linux for well over a decade now. I've always wanted to learn more about system administration, and I've started trying to really understand how systemd works. Unfortunately, as I've searched for help on that, I have not been able to find anything that starts at a simple level. The Arch Wiki is close, but might be one or two steps ahead of me. Most everywhere (including in the wiki) it seems they give a few examples without actually explaining what's happening, and then say "if you want more information, check the man pages". The man pages are... well... man pages. They seem written for people who already know what they're doing.
I'm going to keep studying the wiki pages here, but I thought I'd inquire if anyone knows of a good resource for learning how to use systemd. Preferably something between the "for dummies" level and the wiki level. Does such a thing exist?

Edit:  I see others have more succintly summed up what I was going to say in this post.  Follow ANOKNUSA's advice if you wish to skip my long-winded post.
I'm going to attempt to answer some of these statements by putting into words my experiences of Linux/open source/how-to-learn-this-stuff-but-man-pages-suck.    I'm going to assume, based on what you've posted in this thread, that we think somewhat alike on this subject.  I'll be Canadian and apologise in advance if my assumption is dead wrong.  If that's the case you're free to light me on fire and watch me glow like a Christmas tree.
DrMag wrote:I've been a casual/slightly-technical user of Linux for well over a decade now.
I've been using Linux since Mandrake 8.0 in 2001.  I know I'm dating myself here but I wanted you to know that I'm not some snot-nosed 12 year old who thinks she knows better than an elder Linux user.
DrMag wrote:I've always wanted to learn more about system administration, and I've started trying to really understand how systemd works. Unfortunately ... I have not been able to find anything that starts at a simple level.
And you'll never find something simple enough to explain things in all the detail you are likely to want either.  I learned this lesson the hard way when I began using Linux.  We want something that explains ... well, everything and goes about documenting what each part of whatever it is we wish to learn in discrete segments.  To use your example:
DrMag wrote:It makes that jump to talking about "units" without ever explaining what is meant by that. What other types of units are there?
I remember very clearly saying almost exactly these same words on the Mandrake mailing list.  The response I got was (inevitably) read the man pages.  And then I said (nearly word-for-word) that:
DrMag wrote:The man pages are... well... man pages. They seem written for people who already know what they're doing.
You're right: they aren't meant for newbies and people who want things explained in a lot of detail so we can grasp the fine nuances of what this gear does when this cog goes in that direction.  This should sound familiar, I think.
DrMag wrote:  The Arch Wiki is close, but might be one or two steps ahead of me. Most everywhere (including in the wiki) it seems they give a few examples without actually explaining what's happening, and then say "if you want more information, check the man pages".
I understand this statement very well because I remember saying something very close to this to another member of the mailing list who tried to take me under his wing for a while.  It took me about a year to realise that there really is only one way for people like us to learn these things: Doing it.
Seriously.  Those two words were what helped me to learn-as-I-went-along. For example, I wanted to set up an ftp server and I had no idea how to do it.  I read man pages and newbie-esque websites for explanations.  Some helped and some didn't.  Mostly I learned by setting up what I thought would work but often-times failed.  So I'd go back and read up on what failed, why it failed, and what it is supposed to do that I obviously didn't understand.  Yes this took some reading and cogitating upon the seemingly arcane technical aspects that I wished to learn.  The result was that eventually I got an ftp server set up (after about 3 years of procrastinating, reading and absorbing strange technical concepts) but I did it.
In a way for you, I think, being an Archer will be to your advantage.  When I was looking for information and ideas back in the early 2000's there were no real references you could look at save some man pages, a few nice-to-newbies websites and some well-intentioned would-be Linux mentors.  Arch, on the other hand, has the wiki and a lot of good information on the forums.
What I suggest you do is what I did:  Play with whatever it is you want to understand on a separate machine, figure out what your goal is and then implement what you think is the correct answer.  Don't try to understand everything you want to know about systemd at this point.  Just install it, your server setup you want working and see if it does what you need it to do.  If it does, great.  Poke at it to find out what a component you don't understand is supposed to be.  Find a few newbie-oriented web pages to discern this information.  Read the man page if you dare but don't expect to get all the answers you want to learn.  Instead focus on said component you need/want to learn and work to understand it by itself to your satisfaction.
I also had to learn one more thing:  It's unlikely that you will learning everything about any aspect of Linux and, in your case, systemd itself.  You'll never be a systemd expert but if you're willing to try out these ideas it's likely that you will end up learning enough expertise to satisfy your needs and thirst for knowledge about Linux and systemd.

  • Learning eCommerce function to add to a Muse Site

    Hi,
I'm new to Muse and constructing websites.
I have a Team Membership which give the five WebBasics. If I wish to learn about adding the Business Catalyst functions such as eCommerce. Do I have to upgrade the WebBasics to WebCommerce packages. Or is there a way to learn without actualy publishing a finished site?
    Any help would be great.

Since it comes as part of the eCommerce package your better of creating some securezones and web apps, customise those as products and have a form that takes the information of what they want.
You can still go down quote root with the eCommerce as well but you got options.
Have a go with the Trial Tony but just be wary a few things wont be exposed in Muse or be able to do well in that. If you need help of course people are here and you can hit up a partner like us at Pretty or say Simpleflame, Bosweb, BC Gurus or others if you need help to do the actual implementations.
