Wish to move auto cad drawing to adobe illustrator. Wish to take blue print and layer it for viewing.

We have our drawings in auto cad and need to move them to adobe illustrator and layer the drawing for viewing on a web site.

You can import certain versions of DXF/DXW files into Illustrator and also edit them.
If this can be done efficiently depends on the nature of the files (number of paths etc.)
You could download a trial version and try it on your files.

He had recently upgraded from wht we now know is 18.0 to 18.1 which is the latest version. He read the above artic
le and supposed that it was a bug fix release for his version - because the v17 ov18 number is not often displayed. It is usually just 2014 CC.
I have asked him to post a bug report about Adobe Illustrator CC 2014.1

To elaborate a bit, you may come across offers of a new/unopened/unregistered version, which is the simplest case (you would need a guarantee). Other cases require much detailed information (and a guarantee).
If upgrading to 10.6.8 or higher is an option, you could use CS6.

Drawing in adobe illustrator

Hi okay I just started school and Im learning to use adobe illustrator. In the begining we where told we did not need to know how to draw, but as we go along I noticed that in order to create all the "cool" looking things that you see other people make you actually have to(at least if you dont want to get into legal trouble).......So basically my question is, how can I get around this or is there any suggestions that could help me out I would really appreciate it. Generally speaking, the primary purpose of Illustrator and programs like it (FreeHand, Corel Draw, Corel Designer, Deneba Canvas, Xara Designer Pro, etc., etc.) is vector-based illustration. That's why they are collectively called "drawing programs."
Taking a quote like this out of context may misrepresent it. Your instructor may have been making the point that Illustrator (and similar programs) are often used by non-illustrators for a variety of more "utilitarian" purposes. (File format conversions, modifications of existing vector artwork, etc.). Or, he may have been simply saying that you don't have to be a skilled illustrator to make use of the program for simple graphics, diagrams, etc.
Or, the point may have been that programs like Illustrator are probably more frequently used for the same purposes as page-layout programs. That is, for whole-document assembly. I dare say that if you could take a truthful survey of freelance Illustrator users, you'd find that the majority of paying projects they do in a year are not purely illustration. Much, if not most, of their bread & butter proejcts are low page-count whole documents like the ubiquitous fliers, brochures, placement ads, display posters, etc. It is easy to demonstrate that such projects make more sense in what passes for mainstream "illustration" programs today than in conventional-wisdom "page layout" programs. If one wants to argue with this, then rephrase the question: How many of your whole-document design projects are lengthy bookish type documents with repetitive layouts, long stories of threaded text, etc.?
All the above is true. Moreover, though, if it had been me making that statement in a classroom lecture, it would have been part of an explanation that programs like Illustrator are really more properly called "design" programs than illustration programs. This is a point I have been making for decades. WIth very few feature exceptions, the interface of programs like Illustrator almost entirely reference everything to the dumb vertical and horizontal edges of the page. That is not how an illustrator really thinks. In other words, Illustrator is really more like a pre-computer "paste-up board" (a glorified drawing board equipped with just a lame T-square) than an illustration board (a more sophisticated drawing table equipped with a mechanical track machine with rotateable scales). The latter lets you think and work like an illustrator: in terms of the axes of the subject being drawn. The former forces you to reference everything to horizontal and vertical. So even when using Illustrator for illustration, the user is constantly (whether he realizes it or not) fighting against the tyrannical vertical/horizontal orientation of almost every feature in the program.
The few feature exceptions to this are SmartGuides (called Dynamic Guides or something similar in other programs), Perspective Grid (the first ambititious truly "breakaway" feature toward actual illustration as opposed to design; a FreeHand 9 innovation which Illustrator pretty much copied), and a few details in modal dialogs which allow you to define Lines and movements in terms of angle and distance. All of this together, though, is piecemeal and half-baked compared to something really built for efficient illustration.
That is one large reason why mainstream vector drawing programs seems so unintuitive to newcomers, even when said newcomer is already an accomplished illustrator or artist. It could be a world-changing thing if the minds of young aspiring illustrators could be inspired with a little healthy skepticism and dare to imagine what a truly illustration-centric vector drawing program might be like. It might re-invigorate this lethargic software category.

I got an update request from adobe, then i lost my cleal print and amazon wish list acsses on the adress bar

i got an up date request from adobe, then ilost my clean print and amazon wishlist access on the address
bar i tried to reinstall [earlier versions] firefox. adobe installed a pdf app totally frustrated HELP!!!
i think not sure version 12? ihad recently dowloaded photoshop etc about 20 adobe programs. for the last year i had the amazon wish add on which manifest to the rt of the arrows, and lft of the adress box.
additionally the kodak clean print icon to rt of the amazon icon. a pop up widow appeared requesting
an up grade for a pdf adobe program. as these update windows are as common as can be i complied it asked to restart, ok but when firefox rebooted it was a new version 19. the navigation bar had morphed
the lft end was a circle with the address box running directly off the circle to the rt to the goggle search box. so there was no place for the amazon wish/ and clean print icons to live. and on the rt an adobe pdf icon had pushed the homepage icon to the right this app promised to covert any page to a pdf file, i went to tools and disabled 3 adobe add ons/ lost the pdf icon. i then tried to reinstall the amazon wish list add on
got a message blocked by firefox/ hit allow restart then back to square one blocked by fire fox theclean print will also not reinstall??????/

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Adobe Acrobat Pro text box not printing and is hidden under box highlight.

Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.13. I am completing a form with text box throughout the document. I can no get the text box to printing and the text is hidden under box highlight. I have tried printing with the print feature 'Comments & Forms/ Document and Markups' with no luck.

It's doing that because you have field highlighting enabled. YOu can either turn it off or make the field read-only (if it's only used for display and not entry).

Opening my Adobe Illustrator CC App yields dimmed menus and files will not open?

This has happened in the last few hours. I have updated the app through the cloud. I also have Illustrat. 5.1 and 6 and they exhibit the same behavior. The other cloud apps I have downloaded are fine. I truly need help. This is very bad. I am operating Mac OS 10.9.3 and use a Mac Pro. I have the same OS on my iMac and the AI CC works fine apparently. I need this fixed somehow.

Adobe Illustrator CS2 v 12.0.1 and Windows 7

We just got new computers for our office (Dell M4500) with Windows 7 and Office 2010. I re-installed Adobe Illustrator CS2 v 12.0.1 on the machine and today I started it for the first since I re-installed it. Before starting Illustrator, I was going back and forth to different programs using the Windows button + Tab feature that shows the different programs you have open in an oblique way. Then I started Illustrator and it appeared that my keyboard was not working and the Windows button + Tab feature was not working. I changed batteries in the keyboard and it fixed the keyboard but not the Windows button + Tab feature. However, I could still use the Alt + Tab feature to switch between programs! So I restarted the computer and started a few programs. Lo and behold the Windows button + Tab feature was working. Then I started Illustrator and yes, the Windows button + Tab feature was no longer working. It is enabled again after Illustrator is closed.
Sorry for the long by necessary introduction. Therefore, my question is - Has anyone else experienced this? I have also posted this to MS forums.

Auto-Refresh and Order By for view accessors

Hi,
We have set auto-refresh to true on a VO(LovVO) in shared AM and used the same to create an lov in another VO. Now if we have Order By in LovVO then we get the exception:
ORA-29983: Unsupported query for Continuous Query Notification
This is because of the Order By clause. When i remove the order by then there is no error. But we need the data to be ordered. So I have added the below code LovVOImpl.java executeQueryForCollection method:

and this is working fine. Is there any other declarative solution for this scenario?
I tried setting the order by in the view accessor but that also appends to the sql query and throws the above error.

Touch Screen Drawing With Adobe Illustrator And Photoshop

I've read that people have used the touch screen monitors of there home computers to draw in Illustrator. Is this true? If so what types of computers/monitors allow this?
Also any other devices? I've heard of the Surface Pro and am still researching it.

I have the surface pro 3 I7 256GB device. It works great using the Adobe suite CC 2014. If no keyboard is connected then you can use the new touch interface in Illustrator. The pen that the surface has 256 pressure levels. Which is usually more than enough even in photoshop.
The touch interface is much larger than the normal interface making easier to see on the hyper resolution screen (2160x1440)
If you use the normal interface (which you will need to at times) I recommend a mouse so you can easily select buttons and menu items.
If you purchase a tablet and for any reason the pen does not work correctly or other defect, it is recommend to send it back for replacement. There have been some issues reported on the surface forum. But I do not know if these were early units or what. Just so you are aware.
The reason why you should use the surface over other tablet is because of the pressure sensitive pen. Photoshop for example can use the capacitive pens for accessing the interface but the brush tool requires a Wacom style pen.
To my knowledge most if not all tools in illustrator can use a capacitive pen.
Most features like zoom, move even the new straight rule/French curve work by using two fingers.
The best part of having a touch screen is the ability to see what you are drawing while you draw it.

Play with the sample code that comes with the SDK -- that was how I learned it. Get them building and running, then debug them to see how they work. Then try making small changes and see if that works. Eventually you'll pick it up.

Adobe Reader X:Recurring issues with print and save requiring reinstalls

One of our staff has recurring issues with PDF print, view, save. These issue are temporarily resolved by re-installing the Reader from the Adobe website. No error messages are displayed - the functions just cease to work. In the most recent iteration of the issue a document attached to an email could be saved (right mouse click, save as) within the email program but not within the Reader itself.
It appears that Reader is getting corrupted - but by what? This individual does a lot of downloading of web published PDFs - a possible source but one I can't confirm.
Information on a permanent resolution or known cause would be greatly appreciated.

I'll try the print as image under the advanced print tab and see how I get on with that. Hopefully Adobe will bring out a fix soon.

2 months down the track NO fun in installing Adobe Illustrator, many variables in the Cloud' and the device I'm using... Help

Since purchasing the Adobe 12 months Creative Cloud package I've only had one installation success in (2 months) and that was the Adobe App 'Indesign . And trying to install to other adobe apps had been problematic with intrusive pop up windows citing installation failure. And I'm thinking this shouldn't be happening Ive purchased a product and No one told me to expect issues. Well I've got them and it isn't nice, Ive been made to be a magician and have the xray vision of 'superman to see things I cannot see. Let's look at some of these things that are controllable:
1. Device
2. MB's
3. Internet Service Provider
4. Type of connection (Speed) ADSL or Broadband
5. Time and Place
6. Others-the things you cannot control...
Through a process 0f elimination I will start withy computer?
Does it meet the requirements to operate the software?
Is it virus and malware protected?
Do I have other stuff loaded up to my computer?
Well there was a lot of unnecessary stuff which I;ve uninstalled so that should increase space and speed.
And the computer is fairly new? that should mean something-shouldn't it!
