Wish to save export setting of H.264 from Final Cut Pro

I am using the quicktime conversion pull-down menu in FCP to create H.264 or MPEG-4 files with certain settings for Vimeo. I wish to save my settings for export rather to avoid having to re-enter them next time. The most recent settings option is not sufficient for me as I have a couple different sets of settings. In the quicktime conversion menu I do not have the option to save my settings like I do in the export quicktime movie pulldown.
Is my solution using compressor? If so, do I then have to use APak to compress the audio?
Thank You.

You can build custom presets in Compressor and use those.
The procedure is quite straightforward and covered in the Compressor user manual.
do I then have to use APak to compress the audio
No, you can let Compressor handle the audio too.

  • Best Quality Export of Std Def Video from Final Cut Pro to AppleTV

I get beautiful results when exporting HDV content and AIC content from FCP to Apple TV but what is the best way to handle anamorphic SD content? I'm getting pillboxing (black bars on the side) when I do it directly from FCP's timeline. Of course I could open a QT file in QT Player Pro, change the aspect ratio to classic then do an export, but that creates one more level of unwanted compression.
    Anyone?

Sure, export it as an uncompressed AVI or QT file.

  • Why does Compressor take so long to export a 10 minute video clip from Final Cut Pro?

I've been trying export a 10 minute clip from Final Cut Pro. so it can be used with DVD Studio Pro and burned. However, the rendering process has taken 12 hours! The clip I'm exporting has minimal effects, no music, and is in 1080i 30fps. Does anyone know what's going on or what I can do to speed up the process?

First: How are you exporting? Are you using the Share feature or  Send to Compressor?
Second: You haven't said anything about your system configuration or really very much about your movie. What is its format… is it really 30fps or 29.97? Whatever it is, are the project settings identical to the clip properties, or were they changed?

  • What compression to use when Exporting HD video from final cut pro PAL setting

    Hi there
I'm trying to export my HD video from Final cut Pro so that I can edit it in DVD studio Pro. I initially exported it on H.264 setting however it then gives me the message 'NTSC assets cannot be imported into PAL projects' It was edited with PAL setting so I think it must be the conversion but i'm not sure which option to use.....been really struggling to get the 1 hour footage under 4.5gb without losing too much quality...
    Any advice greatly appreciated!
    thanks

    Just to add two suggestions.
    1) Consider putting your four movies on two disks.
    2) Bring your movies into Compressor and duplicate the stock DVD setting. In the Encoding pane of the Inspector, select a CBR and dial it back to around 6.2 to 6.5 Mbs. In Preview mark a small section and submit; you'll get 2 elementary streams, with m2v and AC3 extensions. Bring that into DVDSP and evaluate results. Adjust as necessary. (This is to avoid waiting out very long encodes and then having to start again from scratch if you get disappointing results.)

  • How Can I do an export that from Final Cut Pro 7 that is specific to these settings?

    Hi
I am current trying to export out a movie from Final Cut Pro 7 but the settings that are required are very specific and I was going to try it through compressor as well but I wasn't sure if that would work either.
    Here are the settings:
    HD:
    1 Video CODEC                 XDCAMHD50
    2 Wrapper format           QuickTime Self-Contained
3 Bit rate                              50 Mbit/s Constant Bit Rate (CBR)
    4 GOP                                   Long GOP
                                                 Closed GOP
5 Time code                       Must include embedded time code. Start-timecode: 10:00:00:00
6 Movie version               UK Home Video Version
7 Delivery time                 As per contract. Supplier to specify filename, delivery format and estimated time of arrival via email at least 60 days before                                                           transmission unless otherwise specified in contract. This should be accompanied by an IMDB link.
    1 HD video format           720 line progressively scanned (720p) @ 50Hz (25 FPS)
                                              1080 line interlace scanned (1080i) @ 50Hz (25 FPS)
    2 Resolution                      1280 x 720
                                               1920 x 1080
3 Aspect ratio                    Content should be 16:9, however 4:3 will be accepted on exception (such as for older movies shot in 4:3)
4 Graphics                           Must be within 16:9 safe graphics area (EBU R95-2000)
    5 Chroma format              4:2:2
1 HD audio format           24 bits/sample 48 kHz sampling rate
    2 Track layout                    Track 1 – 2.0 Stereo L mono
                                                Track 2 – 2.0 Stereo R mono
                                                Track 3 – L
                                                Track 4 – R
                                                Track 5 – C
Track 6 - Low frequency effects LFE
                                                Track 7 – L Surround
                                                Track 8 – R Surround

First of all, what are your sequence settings?  Looks like they want stereo AND dolby 5.1 audio tracks embedded in the quicktime (I've delivered a few films like this).  Do you have a surround sound mix?
You will almost always have more options and control in compressor over fcp so that's the way I'd go, but not sure compressor will give you the ability to match these specs.
Do you understand about safe zones for graphics?  If not, post back.
I don't see any option to set the GOP in xdcam in compressor.  This may be built in to the xdcam format.
I don't see any option for 720 xdcam hd in compressor.
There are many other tools available for this kind of work, but they may be out of your price range.  You might want to just find a facility with experience in deliverying this sort of thing.

  • Exporting From Final Cut Pro 5.0

    Hello,
I need to export my work from Final Cut Pro 5.0 to a Quicktime Movie with the following settings -
    Compression: H.264
    Frame Rate: 15fps
    Bit Rate: 200k
Is this posible without loosing the quality of the video footage? The footage was capture from a MiniDV tape.

If you want full resolution 640 x 480 then 200Kbps isn't going to look very good. As a guide you can note that Apple is using about 600Kbps to encode the iTunes video content and that has a resolution of only 320 x 240. However, since you're only using a frame rate of 15fps you should be able to produce good looking content at just over 1Mbps for 640 x 480.
Of course, it does depend upon the nature of your source video (the subject). Simple "talking head" shots could go lower, while rapid action material might need considerably more than 1Mbps (along with a higher frame rate).

  • Exporting 'flv' files from Final Cut Pro

    Hi,
I was wondering if there was such a program that would export
'flv' files straight from Final Cut Pro time line for my mac. I
know that you can purchase Adobe Flash which enables this, however
I don't wish to buy the whole program. Is there a video encoder
program or something that you can purchase that will enable me to
    export from FCP?

Not sure about FCP, tho I would expect the latest Final Cut
Studio to be able to do
    it.
    Anyway,
Quick Time Player can export MOV to FLV. Not sure whether
    it's the regular player,
I'm having the PRO version for many years and this one allow
    that kind of export.
You being a Mac user, I guess that's the easiest and cheapest
way to get FLV out of your
    available tools.

  • Exporting from final cut pro to quicktime

    hi,
i am trying to export my movie from final cut pro to quicktime. after exporting, the file is actually a final cut pro movie file, NOT a quicktime movie as intended. what am i doing wrong?
to export the movie as quicktime, i know i go to sequence>settings> set the settings and then go to file>export>quicktime. what am i doing wrong??? it seems so simple!
    thanks,
    farilee

You aren't doing anything wrong. It is still a quicktime movie, but set to auto open by FCP.
    Two things:
    (1) add a .mov extension to it.
    (2) select it in the finder, and do a get info. Change the Open With... to QuickTime Player.
    Make sense?

  • How do I export a project from Final Cut Pro onto my desktop?

How do I export a project from Final Cut Pro to my desktop as a movie?

Can anyone please help me.. when I click on my timeline in my project library and try to export movie nothing happens! and when I  try to "share" to youtube I get an error message stating that it cannot be exported because it contains "no video"... The 4 minute music video that I've created with shots off my Canon T2i looks and plays great....If I uploaded the videos into Final Cut but did not save them on my desktop or anywhere else on the Mac would this be a reason to get this message? I have never experienced this before...the only option under "share" that works is "email"

  • How to play an HD movie exported from Final Cut Pro?

How to play an HD movie exported from Final Cut Pro? on a mac???
    thanks

How to play an HD movie exported from Final Cut Pro? on a mac?
Most FCP users export them in a high-effeciency distribution/delivery compression format (e,g,, H.264/AAC) targeted for a particular application and/or device. For example, you could export using H.264/AAC at full display resolution for playback in the QT Player at an appropriate data rate if your platform and display can handle the output. TV would limid the video to 960x540 at 30/29.97 fps and normal AAC audio to 160 kbps at 48.0 KHz. Files exported for display an the Internet would be restricted by the bandwidth being targeted. Etc, etc, etc. Unless the file will only be played on your own platform, what you do not want to do is use an FCP only compression format which would limit viewers to those recipients have the same FCP codecs installed.

  • Export to Apple TV straight from Final Cut (QTP/Compressor)

In preperation for my Apple TV, I needed to know how I can "export to apple TV" from Final Cut Pro. I can import my 1080i HDV footage (from a Sony HC7) into iMovie, go to share, Quicktime, Expert Setting and simply click "Export to Apple TV" (which is obviously built into Quicktime now. But when I have the same footage in FCP and go to "Export"...I can't find "to Apple Tv" ANYWHERE! Not in "quicktime movie", "quicktime conversion" or "using compressor". Am I missing something? We can we not export to Apple TV with in FCP?
I've posted this in the Quicktime, FCP & Compressor boards incase it's another issue.
    Thanks!

    yes....absoultely.
here is my response from my same QT thread:
i know. i have that (QT 7.1.5)...and QTP. in my original post...i said i can do this in iMovie very easily (i explained the process)...but when i try to export from FCP..."export to Apple TV" is not an option.
if you have FCP...you might want to try. i know in theory you think you would...but unless you have FCP...you won't know. can someone post a confirmation that has FCP so people on here don't think i'm loony.
and if you have FCP and can do this...please explain how.
    thanks!

  • Can files be exported from Final Cut Pro X trial?

Can files be exported from Final Cut Pro X trial?

It doesn't seem to work on mine, when I go to command: the export button is in grey, whereas all the others (import; customize) are black and can be actionned. Is this a restriction in the trial version or is there a way to activate export?
    Thanks
