WiSM password recovery / config reset

I am configuring a WiSM blade. Consoling in I completed Side A with the initial config. It saved and reloaded. I was able to re-signed on with default name/pw and things looked good.
I plugged into B side (console) and used same default name/pw. Completed initial config. It saved, reloaded and then I could not sign in. The defaults no longer worked.
So I can not get on the B side to reset. How do I set the B side to factory defaults? If I reset the A side, does it reset both sides?
I then

I've had this happen to me on more than one occasion when I fat-fingered the password in the setup script.
One way to do this is to attach a console cable to side B and reset the module from the switch (hw-module module [module number] reset). This will reboot both sides, but Side A should be fine. When Side B comes up, type in "Recover-Config" for the user name. This will reset the module and you can re-enter the setup script. Be sure that "Recover-Config" is the first thing you enter because if you put anything else in, you have to reset the module again.

  • RV042 password Recovery without Reset

last year our Nework Security Supervisor submit hes resignation
and unfortunately did not endorse us the admin password we already tried the password
he suggested when we contacted him but nothing of them works.
Is there anyway we can reset the password withour resetting to factory default? Thanks hopegfully you can help me
Moreever,Telnet and SNMP is also disabled.
any thoughts how can i resolve this ....
    thanks in advance ...

    Hey Kahn,
Unfortunately I believe there is no way to recover the password without a factory reset. I've heard of a way to perform a password recovery through CLI, but since telnet is disabled, CLI can't be accessed.
    I hope this helps,

  • SQL 2005 sa password RECOVERY not reset

Is there a way to RECOVER the SQL 2005 Standard Edition 'sa' password?  Resetting the password could cause a re-installation of several applications.  The person in charge of it has left the company.. several years ago and there's no record of
    the password.
The various links and search options provided indicate a replacement or update.
Is MS support the only way?
    TIA

"You can recover the SA password of SQL Server database account"
Above statement is incorrect, but perhaps you mean to say "cannot" instead of "can"?
"...for you can change the password..."
But that was not what the OP requested. The OP explicitly requested retrieving the SA password, not resetting it. And retrieving it is indeed impossible.

  • Password recovery spanning two systems

I'm trying to find a solution that does not involve recoding native sap code to save upgrade frustrations etc.
Is it possible to have IDM's Password Recovery feature reset the password and unlock a user in system A, and then also unlock the same user in system B,C,D..+N and send that new password from system A to the users email address in system B?
The users donu2019t care what their password is in systems B...N+ as they are using netweaver portal for SSO, but they need the password emailed to them with their registered email in system B. So... reset password in A and send email to address in system B and unlock them in the other systems... is it possible?

  • Blackberry ID - forgot password, forgot password recovery info, exceeded login attempts, why can't BB send me email to reset password.

    THE ISSUES ARE:
    1. FORGOT PASSWORD
    2. FORGOT PASSWORD RECOVERY INFO
    3. EXCEEDED ATTEMPTS TO LOGIN
I HAVE READ OTHER PEOPLES FORUM PROBLEMS THAT ARE THE SAME. WHEN I FOLLOWED LINKS THAT SUPPORT GAVE THERE IS NO SOLUTION TO ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM.
What I need is simply this: Blackberry to send me a RESET PASSWORD link to the email I have registered with Blackberry WITHOUT HAVING TO PROVIDE PASSWORD RECOVERY INFO. This will enable me to bypass unknown recovery password info and access my Blackberry ID account.
Why haven't I been able to find a solution to fix the problem?
BECAUSE IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO EXIST........ ANYWHERE..... EVEN ON YOUTUBE BLACKBERRY ARE RUNNING AN OUT OF DATE SOLUTION CENTRE.
When looked online to Blackberry youtube video it shows a solution that doesn't exist! WHY? BECAUSE IT WAS UPLOADED IN 2011. DUH. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvdRb4qNG1M
If I can't remember my password or recovery password info there is NO other option available that will send me a reset password via email so I can keep my current BB ID.
KB34776 - does not apply because you HAVE TO BE ABLE TO REMEMBER YOUR RECOVERY PASSWORD!
    CHECKED THIS OUT...
    Workaround
If the BlackBerry ID password has been forgotten but the answer to the password recovery question is known, select Forgot Password on the smartphone and answer the recovery question to generate a password reset email. Follow KB28685 to complete this process.
If the BlackBerry smartphone user knows the email address used for the BlackBerry ID login but is unable to remember the associated password then it is possible to reset the password using the steps below:
Note: If the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed, it is necessary to provide the answer to the password recovery question as part of the web based password reset flow.
To see if a BlackBerry ID account is confirmed, log in to the BlackBerry ID account, select Account Details and locate the Email Status field.  For instructions on confirming the BlackBerry ID account follow KB34137.
Browse to the following URL using a desktop browser, the BlackBerry Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone, or the Browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook: http://blackberryid.blackberry.com/bbid/recoverpassword
Enter the BlackBerry ID Username (email address) and the CAPTCHA characters, then clickSubmit.
Enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, then click OK.
Note: Answering the recovery question is only required if the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed.
A confirmation message will be displayed A password reset email has been sent to [email protected], at which point, a reset email will be delivered to the associated email address inbox.
Log in to the email account associated to the BlackBerry ID using the desktop browser, BlackBerry Browser on the smartphone, or the Browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook.
Locate the password reset email and select the Change your BlackBerry ID password link.
Note: The BlackBerry ID reset email will come from [email protected]. If the email is not found in the inbox, check the mailbox's Spam or Junk folder.
When the password reset page loads, enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, enter the New Password, Confirm Password, then click Submit.
A confirmation message will display once the changes have been saved successfully.
Moving forward use the newly created password whenever logging into BlackBerry ID.
If the BlackBerry smartphone user does not know the email or password that was used for the BlackBerry ID, the BlackBerry ID will be locked out after 10 unsuccessful login attempts. See KB24157 for BlackBerry ID lockout behavior.
    THEN CHECKED KB24157......
    Overview
BlackBerry ID is the master key to BlackBerry smartphone products, sites, services and applications, including BlackBerry Protect and the BlackBerry App World storefront.
To prevent unauthorized access to the account, the BlackBerry ID will become locked out after a number of failed attempts. See the information below for an outline on the expected behavior:
    Local Authentication Lockout
On BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry smartphones if the user enters their BBID password incorrectly 10 times on the BBID sign in screen, verify password screen, or BBID Edit screens, they are LOCKED OUT of all the following functions on that BlackBerry device for 15 minutes:
Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the sign in screen
Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the verify password screen
Authenticating with their BlackBerry ID on the BBID edit screens
Note: The user can still log in on the web or any other devices associated with their BlackBerry ID. They are only locked out on the device where the 10 incorrect attempts occurred.  On the locked out device, after 15 minutes, they get 1 try to provide the correct password on the sign in and/or verify password screens. If they fail to enter the correct password, they are locked out for an additional 15 minutes on that device.
    Account Server Lockout
Users have total of 10 attempts to enter their password correctly against the BlackBerry ID Account Server.
The scenarios that increment the Account Server lockout counter are as follows:
Providing an incorrect password anywhere on the BlackBerry ID web portal (blackberry.com/blackberryid)
Providing an incorrect password within the BlackBerry ID Edit feature on any BlackBerry device or BlackBerry PlayBook
Note: if a user provides an incorrect password 5 times on the BlackBerry ID web portal (blackberry.com/blackberryid), and then 5 more times on the BlackBerry ID Edit feature on their BlackBerry PlayBook, the cumulative number of failed attempts is 10. Once the user has made 10 incorrect attempts to provide their password against the Account Server, they are locked out of the Account Server PERMANENTLY until they reset their password.
See KB26361 for information to reset a BlackBerry ID password
Note: The Account Server Lockout does NOT prevent the user from local authenticating on devices  (the user can still authenticate on the sign in and verify password screens on their BlackBerry devices).
    Forgot Password Lockout
If the user answers their Security Question incorrectly 10 times, they are locked out for 15 minutes of Forgot Password functionality on all interfaces such as:
    BlackBerry website (blackberry.com/blackberryid)
    BlackBerry PlayBook
    BlackBerry smartphone
Note: After 15 minutes, they get 1 try, and if they fail to answer the question correctly, they are locked out for an additional 15 minutes.
THAT DIDN'T WORK SO NOW ITS BACK TO..... KB26361

If the password for a BlackBerry ID account has been forgotten and the login is unsuccessful, use the following process to reset the password.
Note: If the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed, it is necessary to provide the answer to the password recovery question as part of the web based password reset flow.  To see if a BlackBerry ID account is confirmed, login to the BlackBerry ID account, select Account Details and locate the Email Status field.  For instructions on confirming the BlackBerry ID account follow  KB34137.

Enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, then click OK. (Answering the recovery question is only required if the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed)
A confirmation message will be displayed A password reset email has been sent to [email protected] , at which point, a reset email will be delivered to the associated email address inbox.
Login to the email account associated to the BlackBerry ID using the desktop browser, BlackBerry Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone or the browser on the BlackBerry PlayBook.
Locate the password reset email and select the Change your BlackBerry ID password link.
Note: The BlackBerry ID reset email will come from [email protected] If the email is not found in the inbox, check the Spam or Junk folder.
When the password reset page loads, enter the Answer to the Password Recovery Question, enter the New Password, Confirm Password, then click Submit.
Note: Answering the recovery question is only required if the BlackBerry ID account is not confirmed.
A confirmation message will display once the changes have been saved successfully.
Moving forward use the newly created password whenever logging into BlackBerry ID.
Note: If the BlackBerry ID email address is a BlackBerry mail address (e.g. <username>@tmo.blackberry.net), the BlackBerry ID password reset email will not be received on the BlackBerry smartphone. Since the BlackBerry mail address is not accessible from a computer, the steps outlined in KB28111 will need to be performed.
IT ALL LEADS BACK TO THE SAME UNHELPFUL NON-SOLUTION OF USE THE PASSWORD RECOVERY QUESTION....
Can the tech department of Blackberry please sort out this ridiculous unhelpful system by sending customers a direct email if password is forgotten so they can reset without having to go through the above without finding a solution.
    THANK YOU.

That said, it sounds like you have exhausted all of the automatic recovery methods...but just in case, please see this "sticky" post for helpful information concerning your BBID situation:

But do please keep in mind that security is a 2-way street...the human element play an equal part in that security, and you have failed at that in this situation, yet desire for the automated methods to still recover for you. Such just isn't possible, because your failure has exceeded the capabilities of the automated methods.
Hence, you likely need human intervention from an actual BB representative, which is not available in this forum (as discussed in the first link I gave you above). But, the methods to attempt to seek human intervention are posted within the 2nd link I gave you.

Notice that the first question is whether you want to erase the configuration - you respond with yes, and the router continues booting. The second question displayed clearly shows that the router continues loading the configuration file and in particular processes the no service password-recovery command.
What would happen if you answered with n to this second question, preventing the router from accepting the no password-recovery stored command? Could you reload the router afterwards and try the password recovery procedure again?
Also, if this router has a removable Flash card, would you be able to enter the ROMMON and set the configuration register to 0x2142 if you removed the card and tried booting the router?
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • Password recovery at catalyst 4507R-E

Hi. I have catalyst 4507R-E and 2 engines are located at this catalyst. the engines are active standby. when i begin to recover i write  the recover config at main engine then i must be reset the catalyst after reboot active engine go to satndby and standby go to active. so i can not recover it.
    how can i solve this?
must i first remove standby engine and then recover active engine
then put the standby and active engine configuration go to standby.
am i rigth? i am afraid the i lost the configuration because i have not backup configuration.
    i used this PDF.
    please write your comment.
    thank you very much.

    Hi teymur,
You never lost your configuration, what you need to do is...
    1. Make a complete config synch between active and standby supervisor engine (I hope autosync is already enabled)
    2. Write the config to NVRAM on standby supervisor engine.
    3. Now when you put back the standby supervisor engine, reload the active supervisor engine whcih take the standby be active and active be standby.
Also I would like to infor the password recovery procedure for you...
Try the below procedure with only one supervisor in the chassis.
    1) Connect the console cable to the Supervisor IV console port
    2) Reset the 4507 by power cycling the unit.
    3) Interrupt the boot sequence by hitting CTRL+C
    4) Using the confreg command, I set it to skip the boot-up configuration.
    5) I issue the reset command to reboot the 4507 again.

  • Password Recovery on UC540

    Hi All
Our service provider has left and we need to make urgent changes to the UC - does anyone know the admin password recovery for the US540 ?

    Hi Nuno,
You will need CLI access to the UC540 for this. I'm assuming that it has a password, and that you don't know what it is. If you have the password, skip password recovery step.
First, to recover/set a new password, during boot you need to send a break within 60 seconds which will take you to Rommon.
At Rommon 1> type confreg 0x2142
At Rommon 2> type reset. Type no after each set up question.
When it boots, you'll want to erase cue (voicemail) first. Session into CUE with: service-module integrated-service-engine 0/0 session and hit enter twice. Type offline, then y when asked to confirm. Type restore factory default, and again y when asked to confirm, and press enter to reload. It can take 5-10 mins, and you will know its complete when it says system online.
Then to factory default the UC/CME, type exit to get out of CUE. At the prompt (which should still end in a #, if not, type enable to go from > to #) type show flash: Show more, and probably down at the bottom of the list you'll see something like UC540-xxxxxxx-k9-FACTORY-xxx-.cfg This is the factory config file (don't save to it!)  Make note of this filename, I will refer to it as (but make sure you include the name and .cfg).  Type copy flash: startup. Reboot, you should be running with a factory defaulted UC540.
    Best,
    Charles

  • DS6, Admin password recovery

Managed to misplace our "admin" password for logging into DSCC web interface. Is there a way to recover it?
I searched the forum and someone said that it is a security violation. I understand that. But I also believe that there are legitimate reasons for password recovery. The whole process can be secured so that it is not trivial and requires certain knowledge to ensure proper use, such as physical access to the server etc.
    Thanks,

Do you have your password for cn=Directory Manager?
If so, you can bind as Directory Manager, and overwrite (reset) the userPassword attribute for any entry you like.
You can also manually edit dse.ldif to change the password for cn=admin,cn=Administrators,cn=config or cn=Directory Manager:
    - Stop your directory server.
    - Make a backup copy of your dse.ldif file.
    - Edit dse.ldif and change the userPassword attribute on cn=admin,cn=Administrators,cn=config. Or, for cn=Directory Manager, change the nsslapd-rootpw attribute. You can use cleartext for the password temporarily, but remember to change it again later via an LDAP connection, so it will be hashed.
    - Restart the server.

  • ROMMON Password Recovery for 803 Router

    Hello Netpros.
Whilst attempting to perform a standard enable password recovery on an 803 router, I discovered that a ROMMON password had been set. This had the significant disadvantage in that I could not set the config register to bypass the configuration on startup using the set command.
I've browsed Google and this site and there seems to be some reference to a cookie and/or priv command that may assist with resetting a ROMMON password but this particular router does not seem to understand either of these commands whilst in disable mode.

    Hi,
Yes, if you get this boot prompt with the ">" and not "#" that means some joker set a ROMMON password without reading the documentation what is the impact of that (and not documenting it as well). You have to contact Cisco TAC to clear that password, it's not written in any documentation how to clear it.

  • Password Recovery for Wireless Lan controller

Hi, I am new to Wireless Lan Controller.
I just wanted to reset the password for the Controller. Can anybody help me with this. link/procedure anything will be appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Jvalin

I think they mean that they can not type "reset system" since they can't log in in the first place.
The key point to be made is that you need to restart the controller. So power it off if you can't login. Then console in to the controller and type "Recover-Config" as the username. This will default the configuration and allow you to start over with a new username/password.
There is no other password "recovery".

  • Cisco 3945 password recovery

I observed two cisco 3945 routers lose IOS during password recovery. Router was rebooted, break sequence ctrl-break, then boot(instead of reset) issued. The router booted to its existing configuration or password recovery failed and router was power cycled again then ctrl-break issued. However this time the IOS was gone and all flash file systems were blank! It happened on two routers. Anyone know why such an anomaly would occur or has anyone witnessed such?

config register was set to confreg 0X2142 first time password recovery was attempted. It took but only after the power cycle(not when I simply typed boot) but by then the IOS images were gone. I found that very disturbing when it happened on two different routers and I never saw such a thing happen to a router before.

  • 9124 Password Recovery

Hi There. I am trying to reset the password on Cisco 9124 that came back from a partner. They haven't provided any of the config information. I am able to get a serial connection running, but I am unable to get a break sequence to work. I have used hypertermincal, minicom, putty, and others. None of them seem to work. No matter where I send the break sequence during the boot up, it doesn't work. Can anyone provide any insight for this?
I have followed the instructions provided on the Cisco site. The only thing that I haven't done is remove the supervisor engine, but I have stand alone switch and I wouldn't know how to do that. The only components that I can remove are the GBICs and the PSs.
    Thanks!
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
sometimes it's hard to find the correct break combination to boot into single user mode. For me it took some time to find it on a Swedish keyboard layout as the Cisco documentation only says ctrl+].
To verify correct break character run telnet in a MS DOS window. A  correct break would break the session and produce a message like  "Welcome to Microsoft Telnet client...".So you could just test all possible keyboard combinations until you have the right one. Then just follow the correct password recovery procedure:
    http://cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/ps4159/ps4358/prod_password_recoveries_list.html
You need to get to the switch(boot)# prompt to reset password. Press ctrl+] exactly when you see "Loading system software". The message "Switching to runlevel: 1" indicates you are entering switch(boot)# prompt.
