With 10.7 the HDMI sound is not working from the HDMI source on mac mini !!!

Hi,
I bought a mac mini a month ago. The configuration is one display from the mini display port and one TV from the HDMI port.
With the latest 10.6.x version I could enable audio via HDMI.
After Installing the 10.7 version under the sound/Output when I'm selecting output source the HDMI it says "The selected device has no output controls".
What's going wrong ?

I have language lessons online via skype - just voice not video. I have a new mac mini (2.26ghz, 160gb, 2gb). When I have my lessons I have terrible problems with audio quality. All "crackly" so much so that my teacher can hardly hear me. However, if i use my new macbookpro with same ethernet connection and same headphones everything works perfectly??? I have replicated this problem on the same mac mini and same macbook pro at a friends house who is also on the same cable company. Can anyone explain why skype is perfect on the mbpro but useless on the mini??? Or better still offer a solution? Many thanks for any help. Richard

weird...it works perfectly if i reboot mac mini into windows (bootcamp). no problems with buzzing at all! repeatable experiment. it doesn't sound possible that its a software issue with snow leopard???? any software/sound experts who could comment?
so, my headset on snow leopard skype sounds awful at the other end due to buzzing sound. but if i reboot into windows this vanishes??? and does not return. tested without stretching any cables etc. also used skype test function to listen to the buzzing sound myself. its there with os x but not with windows 7??? help please!!

Sound does not work from speakers

I have Windows 7 on a HP 500B MT product desktop computer. According to my computer, my sound works fine. I installed the Microsoft Fixit and it said nothing wrong. I can plug in earphones and I can hear system sounds but no other sounds. The other speakers will sometimes either have too much static where I have to turn the volume down and the sound works OR I have absolutely no static and no sound. This is an intermittent problem. The volume is on max, device manager shows RealTek with no exclamation points by it and the driver is up to date. Then there are other days the sound works. What else could be wrong? Why is this an intermittent problem? I never turn my computer off. I always have updates installing. Any ideas anybody?

Did you try uninstalling the drivers from device manager? It could just be a driver issue.

Why does my calendar info not go from my iPad to my MAC mini

When I add an event to my calendar on my Mac it will go to all of my other devices. If I add an event to my Ipad it does not go to my Mac. Should it not flow both ways?

First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

What year model Air do you have?
On the first question,....are the headphones attached when you have your Air in sleep?
If yes, then refrain from having phones attached when you close the monitor to prevent this until it is resolved

Sighhhh, wasted so much time yesterday and today going around Sony centre and then carphone warehouse. They told me to come back after Easter.
I came home, banged the phone against the wall and it worked.
Turned out that mic was working on loud speaker and when using headphones so I thought that the secondary mic is working and the main one (placed with the speakers) isn't. So I banged that part against the wall slightly (in plastic case to prevent scratches) then put the phone underwater, waited for it to dry and now it's working. Idk how well and if it's of perfect quality again but people can hear me well.

If you are not getting any sound from the speaker, follow this article.

Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
Restart the iPhone.

When my iphone 4 is not plugged in to headphones the sound does not work, and if I try to adjust the sound with the plus and minus buttons in the side it comes up like normal saying "Ringer" but then there is no bar underneath it. Sometimes the sound will work for a couple of minutes. However, there is definitely no problem with the speaker as the alarm always works perfectly fine.
I have tried restoring it, this did not help.

They are giving superficial solution in that post. I think the problem could be software (developers should look into it). I have this problem too, the speaker works with voice memo and ringtone but not with the notifications and apps. Apple is not taking care of this issue and they should resolve it as soon as possible.

Interesting bug. I'm cautiously optimistic this will get rid of the weekly annoyance. The difference is that I bought my laptop back in Feb 2015, so it came with Yosemite. I think the issue may have appeared soon after an OS update not long after I got the thing, though. I was using a sudo command in the Terminal, but that is obviously not a fix.
I wonder if there is a broken .plist file that may be fixed ...?

Hello. I sent my WRT1900AC V1 to Linksys four days ago (Monday) via UPS with a RMA. Linksys paid the shipping and everything. The router is still in route, and it should arrive to their offices tomorrow. Once they receive the WRT1900 AC V1, they are going to send me an EA8500 as a replacement. But I have been reading the comments about the EA8500 here in the forum and it seems to have the same problems. I guess the firmware is extremely flawed in both routers (maybe it is almost the same code?). Anyway, I will try the EA8500 and I hope it works. I bought a temporary router from Walmart and I paid $35 for it. It is a Belink N600 DB. I can't believe that a $35 router is working a lot, lot, lot better than my previous $250 WRT1900AC router. Unbelievable. If the EA8500 doesn't work, I'm going to try and get my money back from Linksys, or contact The Consumerist or someone to get my money back and get a Nighthawk instead.

If you lose sound for games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.
