With each download/upgrade, I am losing more songs
I should have been concerned about this earlier, but periodically, some of my tunes disappear or I find the tune and iTunes says that it can not find the original tune. Neither can I. I put my playlist on a removable hard disk drive. Everything worked fine for quite a while; then tunes started disappearing. At first I did not draw any connection to the upgrades; but with this latest mess, I started looking around and found my tunes broken down into several dated files/units which now appear to be a result of prior upgrades. How do I get out of this mess?

Sync ith only one computer. When you sync with the second anything acquired from the first computer will be erased. Syncing back with the first computer will erase everything synced from the second computer.
Put all your stuff on one of the computers and sync with only that one.

When I download software or files the Downloads window opens, the file downloads and is virus scanned and then a message appears telling me:
"Download Statusbar: Anti-Virus Scan failed to start, check configuration"
I had an options facility when I first set up Firefox where there were several options available - I believe the virus check facility was the last tab.
I think I had an option box which allowed me to tick a check box to scan on download but I can no longer find this option box. Please can you advise the route to it?

I am overwhelmed with all the updates, changes to new servers, etc. seems like it's everyday. I have had to bring my computer back from blue ( actually more like Northern Lights) screen(s) 3 times in the last 5 months. All crashes have been associated with a download, upgrade, etc. Once with Norton, once with Yahoo, and Java continues to cause me problems. I have a Compaq laptop running Windows Vista (I think), using Internet Explorer 9, using microsoft security (firewall, etc) and Panda virus. My current wireless provider is Comcast --but I can't afford the super fast connection anymore. I am continually having problems with Internet explorer just shutting down or going REEEAALLY slow. I figure it's probably from an update, or add-on, or some nasty "ruin your computer fun" gift from a hacker. But I can't figure how to pinpoint where the problem is.
I don't mean to sound like I'm helpless, but I am not very computer savvy. I am a 52 year old mom who loves having a virtual library at her finger tips and wants to be safe on the net. Thank you for assisting me.Thanks for taking time to respond and for the info on the two free scanners.
I do believe I finally uninstalled Norton - I'll check again. I had AVG for awhile and I unstalled that when I downloaded Panda. The microsoft system security is supposed to alert you when there is a system conflict -- the key words here are SUPPOSED TO.
I am very leary of downloading/installing/updating anything. For a couple of reasons -- one --if there is a system conflict, a virus, bad cookie (probably doesn't even go well with milk), etc -- I don't know how to fix it. I bumble through somehow, probably creating more messes than I had, or at least different ones. If there's a BIG problem and support is needed . . . Did I say SUPPORT?? Panda was the only company that actually spent time with me. Microsoft, HP,
Norton, Comcast, Motorola (modem), and a couple of others ALL refused to help me because it wasn't their problem !!
So is having Firefox as my default browser a good thing or bad?? Will I then have to update/download all different kinds of programs. Yahoo is my email provider and my microsoft email is not currently set up. I have used Firefox before, but not on this computer.
Are there any other programs I should be aware of that might conflict with Firefox.
Are there any ADD-ON's, drivers, plug-ins that might create problems ( I really don't understand all the previous terminology, I just know those are the areas where the problems are always occuring.

IPod Classic crashes with 32.768 or more songs
After I lost the second iPod Classic with about 35.000 songs (128 kbit/s ACC; iTunes shows 15GB as free), I did some research, and with 32766 the iPod works fine, two more songs and the iPod reboots and hangs in the Apple screen, so it should be restored.
Can any one confirm this behavior? Or found a way around this problem?
Occurred on Mac OS 10.6.6 (iTunes 10.1.1) and Windows XP/Vista/7 (iTunes 10.1.1)Perhaps it would be worth it to run a health check on your iPod's HD. See this older post from another forum member turingtest2 on how to perform this test and what the resulting numbers indicate.

I have Elements 10. It doesn't handle RAW. It also doesn't allow more than one Fine JPG to be downloaded at a time. Can this be fixed with a download, or am I stuck to upgrade to Elements 13?

It can handle the raw files covered by the ACR 6.7 version.
For newer cameras, you can use the free Adobe DNGconverter to batch convert a folder into the DNG raw format that PSE10 can read and edit.

I recently successfully upgraded my mid-2007 mac desktop to OS X 10.9 I tried to purchase a print from my iphoto and it told me that I could not do this unless I upgraded to Iphoto version 9.5 which I then did. When I attempted to open my iphoto library following the upgrade, I got the message "To open library with this version of Iphoto, it firsts needs to prepare" I was then prompted to use the Iphoto library upgrader. I downloaded the upgrader as it suggested. However, nothing different happens. I still get the same prompt each time I attempt to open the iphoto (telling me the I need to prepare with the library upgrader.) I have no idea what to do next. I am not finding any help in my online searches. Can someone please offer suggestions? Keep in mind that I am not a computer expert, so simple terms/instructions would be most helpful. Thank you!
Yes, I purchased the upgrade through the apple website, downloaded successfully. When I clicked on the iphoto icon, that's when I got the prompt that said I needed to prepare my library using the library upgrader. I got this from apple website as well. It downloaded, then appeared on my desktop screen as a 'library upgrader' I don't know what to do next? When I click it, it just keeps repeating the download process.

With each upgrade of Firefox, I have a harder and harder time, getting to the links provided in my emails. Some times I am able to trick the link into working, if I continue to to try every link in the email, but most of the time, I just have to give up. I know that I need to change something, maybe in the settings, but I don't know what.
Please help me. I am considering just going back to Internet Explorer.This did not solve my problem. I can sometimes click on a link (word) provided in an email, that leads to a site, but it does not list the website address!! It works sometimes, providing me with a chance to enable links for this address or enable link (I think basically for just that one time).

You need to go through 10.6.3 and 10.6.8 to get to 10.7 or 10.8. If you find that 10.6.8 isn't enough, open the Mac App Store and try purchasing Mountain Lion 10.8. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) or better CPU with at least 2GB of RAM, and if it does, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.

Hello I formatted my iMac today and wanted to download iphoto again but after i press the button to install it in the app store nothing happens! same with the yosemite upgrade.. In the iPhoto ratings there are alot of other people facing this problem I hope somebody can help me. thank you in advance
If you have OS X 10.6.8 as you state you can not get iphoto form the App store - you must have Yosemite OS X 10.10. installed to download iphoto 9.6 from the App store
If Nothing happens then you need to contact App store support - link is on the right of the App store window

Just purchased Adobe Acrobat XI, when i download it and select run a tab appears with title 'Confirm Upgrade of Acrobat Pro' i select continue, another tab apears stating 'Error Encountered' - Acrobat installer encountered and unexpected failure. I downloaded upgrades available. The installation of those took a long time after re- initiatin the system and had to off. After this I could not get it to turn on again. Just stays in the gray screen with apple in the middle. What's wrong?
Sorry to hear of your problem, but any hardware in a computer can fail - that includes the hard drive, the logic board, etc, etc. Fortunately, it usually doesn't happen that soon; however, I've read of hard drives failing within 6 months.
So, since you did not purchase the extended Applecare Protection Plan (3 years coverage), you will need to make a decision to repair or sell it as is. I would always purchase 3 year coverage for an all in one or a laptop because repairs are expensive and at least I'd be covered for 3 years.
We can't speculate on whether there should be a recall or not; these forums are for user to user assistance with technical problems. In your case, there is nothing we can help with since you've already gotten a diagnosis. -
i just bought ilife11 from a friend and tried to install it but it says I need to have 10.6 or later. I have 10.5.8. Can I upgrade to the latest version with a "download" ?

You need Snow Leopard before you can go to Lion...

Having purchased a Bluray of Les Mis with a digital download, I am unable to download the film through iTunes with each time I try it stops at 1.43GBytes. I have attempted both Win8 PC and iPad with the same result. Any ideas?

It is always better to uninstall the older version when skipping versions. What is your operating system?

Have an iPad mini with latest software upgrade 8.1.2. Verizon Messaging app crashes on use after one year with no problems. I deleted the app and downloaded a clean version. It crashes whether or not I have any apps running in the background. Sometimes I can type part of a message before it crashes. Other times it crashes as soon as I try to use the app at all. Neither Apple Support nor Verizon store staff could find any reason for the problems. Any ideas??

Did you uninstall that application by pressing/holding down the icon until the (X) appears? Tap the (X) to delete it. Once the application has been deleted, you will need to reset the network settings on your device in Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Power that device off/on and then download the application again. Additionally, we also recommend that you disable Wi-Fi and connect to our network to test the messaging feature again.
