With Firefox 3.6.6 I can't get the keyboard shortcuts CTRL-B or CTRL-I to work to display bookmarks; how can I solve this

I have Sidebar bookmarks checked, and even so when I press CTRL-B or CTRL-I, nothing happens. I'd like to be able to see the bookmarks panel remain in place on the left of my screen. On another computer, the keyboard shortcuts work fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Many thanks.

That means that the link has an onclick action. Such links need to be left-clicked. Make sure that you do not block JavaScript.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

You are trying to find a loophole to circumvent a basic rule that prohibits the transfer of purchased content from one Apple ID to another.
Content tied to an Apple ID are bound to that Apple ID forever. You can not merge or trade accounts. Well, not (officially) anyway...

Thanks everyone. What worked for me was a version of the suggestions above. I had the problem with the ≠ character appearing in all my Photoshop CS6 keyboard shortcuts and rendering them largely unusable. However, I don't have any other keyboards besides US English enabled on my Mac. I do have Spell Catcher installed, which works through the keyboard input method. So, I switched from Spell Catcher back to English (with the US flag), launched Photoshop and presto, my keyboard shortcuts were restored, absent that obnoxious ≠ symbol. Once in Photoshop, if I reselect Spell Catcher, the ≠ symbol returns so I have to run Photoshop without the help of Spell Catcher - or forego the use of keyboard shortcuts while it's on. Since the developer of Spell Catcher passed away last year there will be no more updates to the otherwise very useful utility. Apparently this keyboard shortcut problem in the various guises reported here is linked to some element of the OS X input method in Mavericks, as Photoshop seems to manifest the issue in relation to one specific input source or another. This is the first application in my experience to have a problem with Spell Catcher in OS X 10.9. So I will continue to use it, except in Photoshop. Spell Catcher was never updated for Mountain Lion or Mavericks so people like me will have to use it "at our own risk" as the saying goes. Be that as it may, it does appear to be a bug in Photoshop that's at the root of this matter as different people have somewhat different problems with the OS X input method - not that I expect either Adobe or Apple to do anything about it.

When you enable photo stream on your Mac, in imports photos currently in your photo stream. However, photo stream only keeps photos for 30 days, even though up to 1000 photos will remain on your device until you delete them. When you enable photo stream on your Mac, you will only receive photos added in the last 30 days, as the others are no longer in your photo stream.
If you want to get all your old photos on your Mac, save them to your camera roll (if they aren't already there) by opening your photo stream album, tapping Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll. Once they are in your camera roll, import them to your Mac as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Another option would be to create a shared photo stream containing the older photos and invite yourself (as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99). Then check Shared Photo Streams in iPhoto>Preferences>Photo Stream and you will see this shared photo stream on your Mac.

On our project site, with Firefox 4 and 5, buttons don't take the keyboard focus if you mouse-click on them. Is this a problem of our site?

On a page like http://www.ori.uzh.ch/links.html, clicking a link opens a new tab, and after closing that tab, you can move to the next link with the tabulator key. On that site, it still works with Firefox 5. I also worked on our project site (password secured, sorry) with Firefox up to 3.6.18. But now, if I open a link with the mouse, close that tab again and press the tab key, the focus just goes to the first clickable button, as if I had not clicked any button previously. If I open a link by tab key and "enter", the keyboard focus is preserved on that button. But there are many many buttons on our pages, and they reload frequently.
BTW I adjusted the system preferences, so that the keyboard focus moves between all controls. (see http://www.tipstrs.com/tip/1505/Tab-key-to-select-form-elements-in-Firefox-on-the-Mac). But I don't think the problem is related to that.

I found out that our buttons are no links, but input tags, type="submit". I'll discuss the problem with our programmer.

How can I get the keyboard program InKey to work with InDesign?

I use InKey to type special characters, particularly underlined vowels, for another language. This has worked fine in Microsoft Word with most Unicode fonts. However in InDesign, the underlines do not line up under the letter; or, more commonly, they just display as a pink space or box after the letter. Simply using the Underline format on these letters is not sufficient to be able to check their spelling.

Anyhow: your sample font was Times New Roman. If you can't see the combining glyphs, then you're using an out-of-date version of the font, or something else is wrong. . Did you maybe start your work on a contemporary version of Word in WIndows, and now you've shifted to using a Mac with an older version of Office? THere are plenty of nulls in TNR (which are usually codepoints not in Unicode, usually a sign of some kind of hacky workaround on the part ofthe font designer). There should be a real combining macron below right about here, in between the crazy upper Latin and the Greek caps :
So I'd want to know: what font are you using for this? If not TNR, then I'd suggest Gentium. I might even suggest dropping TNR for Gentium. Judging by your screen name, you may well already be aware of SIL. If not - oh hey, they make fonts for people who are in your shoes! Go check 'em out. The fonts are free, and pretty reliable. And Gentium may already have a precomposed with-line-below glyph for your typesetting needs.
The Kerning dropdown lets you adjust the spacing between letters in a letter-by-letter way. Selecting all of your text and picking "Metrics" is the way to go here - unless you are a designer who thinks that the capital D is way too far away from the lowercase i, and want to tweak the kerning manually. "Optical" is for large font sizes where body-text-style kerning is too spacious. Avoid using it at small font sizes.

I can't get the sound on my 3GS to switch to vibrate using mute button and I can't change the sound with the sound buttons.

I would like to buy my new mac in the states, but want the keyboard to be in another language than the ones listed (english, french, spanish and japanese). Is this possible if I contact them?
Btw, I know that you can change the language in settings, but I want the physical other keyboard, not to just change it on the mac!

I think they can from a physical retail store, but you should ask them directly. Normally the kinds of keyboards available via special order should be those shown at the site below, but I have heard that some probably are only available outside the US.

How can I get the keyboard to work ?

I am using a Windows disc that has multiple software versions of the Windows OS and must choose A-J to get the Windows XP-SP2 version. The problem is that at this point of the install there does not appear to be any drivers for keyboard function. I am using Leopard. I don't believe I had this issue with Tiger. I have tried using the original Apple keyboard which does not work at this point. I have an old windows KB but it does not have a USB plug. Is there a way to get keyboard function at this point of the install. Thank you in advance for any advice.

I want to clarify my problem. When Boot Camp starts and brings you to the windows screen,this is where my problem exists. I have a corporate cd that has multiple Windows programs on it, Window XP SP2 being one of them. This is choice G. At this point in the start up I have no keyboard control. I did try removing all USB devices and used the original Mac keyboard with no luck. Interestingly I did not have this issue in tiger, I think. Some how prior to Leopard I was able to access the choice in the DOS screen. I'm thinking that this may be an issue with the firmware but I am not sure. The firmware is up to date. If you have any other suggestions other than spending $200 on a Windows XP disc I would love to hear about it. If I open the Corporate DVD I can find what I need and make a disc but I don't know how to make it bootable . Many thanks.

Quit the calendar app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or ... Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

How can I get the keyboard commands to do what they are spozed to do?

Some keyboard commands work OK. But some do unexpected things. For example, when I press the F11 key in InDesign, the page parts like a curtain opening leaving the empty desktop; the same key toggles the page back again. What the F11 key should do is open the Paragraph Style palette. Strangely, the "single-digit" commands -- F5, F6, etc. work OK. But those with 2 digits -- F11, F12 -- do not. (This is a G5 iMac with the original keyboard.) How can I fix this?

That's Apple's Exposé at work. To change the keys for that, go into System Preferences, then Dashbord & Exposé (top row, second in). You can change the keys, disable it, or assign corners of the screen to do it.
Conversely, you could go into InDesign -> Edit -> Keyboard Shortcuts and change the Paragraph style pallete (gotta dig for that) command to Command f-keys.
I'd actually do the second one, as easy access to Exposé just rules - once you get used to it, it will be second nature. It's especially helpful when you have a pile of Photoshop and InDesign windows open, and need to find one particular one, or need to see something on the desktop.
