With home sharing, can I sync music and apps on multiple computers at home?

Hi.
With home sharing, can I sync music and apps on multiple computers at home?
Basically, I want to sync my iphone and ipad on 2~3 computers at home without deleting contents in my iphone and ipad.
thanks.

I did some more checking as I still had my old computer online.
I booted and went into iTunes.
Under DEVICES, the TV was listed, along with MUSIC, PHOTOS, PLAYLISTS, much like an iPod/Touch.
When I went into PREFERENCES->TV DEVICES, the TV was listed and on the site, it stated SYNCING.
On the other computer, it listed STREAMING.  I did do a RIGHT CLICK on the device and selected "STOP STREAMING" and it disappeard - must RE-PAIR with the unit I guess.
I'm afraid to perform the following, but if someone out there has the equipment, maybe they can check...
Make sure nothing else is managing the TV.
Pair with the unit so you have all sorts of options under the device and it shows 'syncing'.
Now, create a new account and perform the same thing or use another Mac.  I believe it will limit you to STREAMING only.
My thoughts are that ONLY ONE computer can sync (just like other device).  I have to disconnect the association with the old computer.
Even though I moved everything over with Migration Assistant, I didn't have any issues with managing the iPhones, but I'm wondering if there is a Computer UUID that the AppleTV is TIED to.  Since I'm on a different computer UUID, and it's being managed by another one, I'm limited to STREAMING.
Only other choice is to RESET the unit - now, where did my manual go?
Thoughts?

  • Can you transfer music and audio books between computers via home sharing?

I just reformatted my iMac and would like to restore some music and an audio book from my MacBook Pro. Somehow, I got the audio book onto my MacBook Pro, which was originally downloaded to my iMac, but now I can't seem to transfer it back.
    Thanks,
    Paul

I figured it out. Home sharing was not activated on the iMac, even though I could see both computers on each computer. I tried to transfer all my music from the iMac to my MacBook Pro before I wiped everything off the iMac, but couldn't figure it out. I with I knew that before I reformatted it. I do, however, however, have everything backed up on disks. iTunes is one of the most confusing programs I've ever used...

Home Sharing lets you to stream or transfer music, movies, and more with up to five authorized computers in your household. You can learn more about it in this link:

  • I can't download music and apps on my ipad mini

Why I can't download music and apps with my apple ID on my ipad mini, which I got 3 days ago

    1. Make sure software is up to date
    2. Make sure FaceTime is enabled; Settings>FaceTime
    3. Make sure Date and Time is correctly set; Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
    4. Make sure Push Notification is enabled
    5. Make sure phone number or email address is correct
    6. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) until you see the Apple Logo

  • HT204053 I've got a new Iphone but still want to use my Ipod, can I have music and apps on both and if so how do I update them both?

Hi, I've just upgraded to an Iphone 4s but still want to use my Ipod. Can you have music and apps on both and if so how do you keep them updated? Is there a step by step guide anywhere? Thanks

"Can you have music and apps on both "
    Yes.
"how do you keep them updated?"
    Not sure what you mean.
"Is there a step by step guide anywhere? "
    Guide for what?
Sync each of them as always.  There is no need to do anything, just sync them to your computer.

  • How can I sync my purchased audiobooks between multiple computers?

How can I sync my purchased audiobooks between multiple computers? The new iCloud feature seems to make it possible to sync all my other content (purchased from iTunes) but there is no way/option for audiobooks. Any clues?

Copy them to a disk/hard drive/flash drive/etc, then copy it to the other computer.

  • How can I transfer music and apps from 1 ipod to another?

My computer crashed and my 2 sons got new ipod toches 4th gen and all of their music and apps were on that computer. Is there anyway to transfer contents from their old ipod to their new one?

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

  • Can i buy music and apps from a UK iTunes account in the UAE?

If I take my UK-bought iPad to Dubai in the UAE, will I be able to access my UK iTunes account to purchase music and apps (and iOS updates) whilst in Dubai? I've googled the issue but there are so many different answers that I need some sort of authoriative guidence, if anyone can help please. Is it correct that Apple will not allow iTunes transactions from non-UK IP addresses?

Here in the EU, free trade between EU countries should allow EU residents to buy whatever they want from any EU country. However, Apple's iTunes/App Store restrictions effectively block this, so I'm not sure how this is happening from a legal standpoint. I believe there may be some EU folks looking into it.
It's kind of weird that I can order a physical CD from any EU country and legally buy it from the UK. However, Apple prevents this for digital downloads by having it's "must have a billing address in the selected Store's country" rule. Basically going against EU free trade rules.
According to this article, it's to do with music licensing issues, which are done on a country-by-country basis, rather than the EU as a whole. But there are no such licensing issues with apps, so why Apple imposes the same restrictions I don't know.

No.  Apps are only compatible with devices running iOS such as the iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad.

  • If I have home sharing can I delete music from my IPad without deleting it from my other devices such as IPhone and IPod?

If I have Home Sharing enabled, can I delete music from my IPad without deleting it from my IPhone and IPod?

Home sharing has no effect on deleting music from your iPad. If you delete music on your iPad it will have no effect on your other iDevices.
You cannot add or delete music with home sharing anyway. You can only share what is on one library on another device.

  • How can i sync music and notes etc... to a new itunes?

My old desktop (guest account) on my computer was deleted. It had my original itunes on it. I made a new guest account on my computer. Obviously, there was no music, no app's, no anything on this particular account.
I did sync the "purchased" app's onto the new itunes successfully, but I want to know if my notes that I type in the ipad2, also photos i saved and bookmarks (on my home screen and safari), including my reading lists (safari), are safe. Another thing is, how can i transfer my music to the new itunes? how can I get my old music library from the ipad2 onto the new itunes? They were c.d.'s i bured to itunes a while back from my own collection. I did not purchase them online from itunes' site.

tht link made me do nearly the same things i already did. i dont see a difrnce in anything. it did not do anything i questioned. after i did this proccess it said it wants to erase wut is on my ipad2 . thats exactly what i DONT want.
WILL MY NOTES AND CALENDER DATES, ETC... BE SAFE? ALONG WITH BOOKMARKS THT I SAVED AND MY "READING LIST" ON SAFARI BE SAFE AS WELL, WHEN OR IF I SYNC MY IPAD2?
    AND
HOW CAN I GET MY OLD MUSIC FROM MY IPAD2 ONTO MY NEW ITUNES? (if possable)

  • Can I sync music and manually add movies?

This is harder than it seems. I want to sync my ipod to my music library, but still be able to add movies manually just like I can sync photos but manually add movies and music. I think I have the set up right because I got it to the point that I can drag a file into my ipod movies section and it copies onto it, but it is grayed out, so when my ipod updates like when i reconnect it, the movies are removed from my ipod. I just want to be able to add my videos to my ipod so i can get the off my computers hard drive and I still want to sync music. Help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I see what you are saying, but as of now, it looks like you can only manually manage everything or automatically update everything. You can't mix and match.
I'd tell Apple you'd like this feature...
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipod.html
There is a workaround though. Try it with a with a video you can easily replace though. (And know it is always good to have a backup of the videos only on your iPod as wiping your iPod is a common troubleshooting step should anything go wrong).
Put the video onto the iPod. Once it is, disconnect your iPod and make sure it works.
Now go into iTunes and right click the video you just transfered and go to show file. Drag that file to the Recycle Bin. Now try to play the video in iTunes. An ! should appear next to it. That's okay. Now update your iPod. The video should stay on the iPod even though it is not on your computer (as long as the name remains in iTunes).
If this works as advertised (;D), you can go ahead and do this. A couple of reminders though...
    1) Make sure the videos are on the iPod first and work on the iPod before you delete any files.
    2) Make sure you have backup up any videos you can't replace in case something happens to your iPod.
