    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

    How are you trying to transfer it and what are your setting on iTunes.  I'm not on a computer that has iTunes at the moment so I'm going from memory and similar issue.  If iTunes is set to sync music then I don't think you can select and drag, if set to manual manage music then you can.  Also make sure you are dragging to music on the iPhone.

    load the current version of I tunes on the laptop and sync the pod.  Then sync the phone - you can select all or as much of the music you want to.
    Also - if the music on the pod was purchased from the itune store in the first place, you should be able to redownload it to the phone for free, as long as you are using the same apple id that it was bought with.

Airfoil costs about $30 and is a great program that allows you to do all sorts of neat things like stream music from other apps than just iTunes to remote speakers using an Airport Express.     If you have it and your music is in the library. Do this. Connect you ipad to your computer click on ipad button in itunes next to summary click on music add check mark to sync music click on entire music library and hit apply at the bottom of your screen.
