With ios 7, going to safari I am asked to authenticate with name and password

In trying to open safari I am asked to authenticate with ID and passsword. Which ID and passeord? Why was this not asked in ios 6?

That didn't work. Top of screen says "Authentication Required"

I used the icloud ID and password, got nada. Could it be related to my modem?

When I try installing Firefox 6.0 from the binary file, a box with "Run As" in the type field appears, which asks me for user name and password. Please advise about the course of action that I should take.

Trying to run it as the current user, or as one from a different account(administrator in this case) also doesn't work.

I think the client is not able to do a HTTP POST
to the WLS server but it can do a HTTP GET.
I dont know why.

I just switched to Charter. When going to Mozilla Firefox a box appears saying, Authentication Required and asks for a User name and Password. What do I do?

I switched from CenturyTel to Charter. I can't use Firefox because a box appears asking me for Authentication Required, User Name and Password. When I hit cancel, this message appears:
HTTP 401 - Unauthorized
Authorization is required to access the configuration server.
You must enter the correct username and/or password.
When I called Charter, they told me they recommended using Internet Explorer. I told them I didn't want IE, I preferred Firefox. They recommended I go to your support page, so here I am. :o)

Have you reset the password recently for the email account?
A real simple fix usually is to delete the mail account (settings < mail contacts calendars, tap the affected account and choose delete at the bottom) Then re add the account.

Firefox goes to my mail immediately after I enter user name and password. I dont have time to check the save password box even tho it does flash by.

Hi, I called Apple Support this day, and the answer is that enterprise WPA wireless is NOT supported by Lion Internet Recovery.

page would automatically come up. Now I must enter the user name and password every time to access the personalized start page. tried to find some settings that needed changing but no luck. is this a problem with iOS 8 Earthlink referred me to apple they could not help any help here

It may be that AutoFill is disabled in Safari, or that Private Browsing is on.
Go to Settings > Safari > Passwords & AutoFill and make sure that Names and Passwords is on.
Go to your Home screen and open Safari. If Safari is black or dark instead of white or gray, Private Browsing is on. Safari doesn't save account names and passwords when Private Browsing is on. To turn off Private Browsing:
On iPad, tap the the plus icon in the upper-right corner of the Safari page, then tap Private in the lower-left corner.
On iPhone and iPod touch, tap in the lower-right corner of the Safari page, then tap Private in the lower-left corner.

Having convinced my parents to get rid of their old AOL account and sign up for iCloud to sync their new iPhone with their old PC running Windows 7, I thought I was on to a winner. All working OK but is there any other way to get into emails besides going on iCloud website and signing in with name and password everytime? Can it be set up as a Mail account directly like on a Mac? Or using Outlook or Entourage? Help! I'm not a PC person!!

If they have Win 7 or 8, and Outlook 2007 or newer then you can.
Just download the iCloud Control Panel for Windows. Install and select the services you want (Mail Contacts and Calendars will appear in Outlook)

It's probably that your Keychain password is not the same as your login password. If you configured your computer to log you in automatically, you may not have used your login password in so long you forgot it.
There is no way to retrieve the "login" Keychain password, but you can reset the Keychain from the Preferences menu: select it in the Keychain Access menu and select "Reset My Default Keychain". This will create a new, empty Keychain but the old one will be saved should you ever remember its password.
The result of this is that you will have to supply passwords for everything that requires it, since without your Keychain they will no longer automatically fill themselves. However, once you supply them and store them in your new Keychain, they will be remembered.

I go to school online and our eBooks are in pdf format. I download them to my MacBook so that I can read them offline. When I download them, they open as they always did but, when I put my username and password in to unlock them, it tells me something about the file is edited and a copy will be saved but, it never opens the file. Not using netwok magic. I shut it down when it comes up. I have tried using 192.168.1.1 but still will not accept user name and password. I never changed the factory default and it just continues to ask for the user name and password. Web utility site will not come up. You'll need some installer discs for it to do anything. But as old as that is it may not be worth the trouble. You may find some retail copies of OS 9.1 on eBay or Google. You can install OS X on those old machines, but the maximum version is 10.3.9 (Panther) which may be getting difficult to find.

Just to clarify, iOS is the operating system for iOS based devices such as the iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad.
Your Mac runs on OS X.

Why can't I delete a user name and password from saved passwords in iOS 7? I found them and they are not anything that I am familiar with? They are from a t-com.de. I have been to Germany in the last month. Not sure if there is any association. Any thoughts?

You found them ... where? Are they in Safari somewhere?
If so, do Settings > Safari > Clear History and Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies and Data
If that doesn't clear them (and they are from Safari), try Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data and clear that area.
