With new os 5.1 for iPhone, the headphone controls doesn't work
i've noticed that with new release of os 5.1, the headphone controls doesn't work. no volumes controls neither the central control.
with ipad the same headphones works well.
I'm having the same issue, but without having upgraded to iOS 6.1 - it just started out of the blue last night.
Timeline:
It suddenly heated up, I turned it off. Battery at 87%
After maybe 45 minutes, I turned it on again. Battery at 45%. It would not charge at this point.
I tried MANY things, including turning off WiFi, mobile data, location services, Gmail sync (though not Exchange sync, which had given no problems before. I'd recently changed some Gmail settings, so I reverted them).
I tried to restore, but my crappy internet was unable to download the iOS 6.1 file.
I looked it up on the internet and performed a hard reset, after which the phone began to charge, to my delight.
I charged it to nearly full (92%) then lay in bed using Twitter and iBooks for some time, after which battery was at 65%.
After sleeping for around 7 hours, the battery lies dead. Attempts to charge it (both from the wall adapter, which is a standard India 220V charger, and from my laptop) are making it flash the Apple logo for around 4 seconds before the screen turns off; this repeats ad infinitum.
What do? The nearest Apple Store is three hours away and I have exams on; can't get away before Saturday at the earliest, so I'd like to have some use out of the phone in the near future.

Options after new phone stolen (had for two weeks), and refurb doesn't work?
Back in November, I ran into some bad luck with Best Buy phone insurance, and wasn't due for an upgrade with Verizon until March. Long story short, I went into a Verizon store on Black Friday weekend to see what my options were, and walked away with a brand new Droid Maxx for only $40. It counted as my new upgrade, and I was thrilled.
Not two weeks after purchasing the new phone, it was stolen from me. I contacted the Asurion insurance company and shelled out $150 to have another phone overnighted to me. Much to my surprise, they sent me a refurbished Maxx with a small crack in one corner - clearly a great deal older than my two week old stolen phone. I decided to give the phone a chance, since I didn't have enough money for other options.
Now, nearly three months later, this refurb is not working out at all. The crack has grown, I can't do any hands free or voice activating calling/navigation, the speakers cut out periodically, and most of the time I can't hear out of them to the point where I have to use speaker phone, and then the people I'm speaking with can't hear me. To top it off, the usually fantastic and long battery life I enjoyed on the original phone are NOT present on the refurb. It lasts half as long, when it does bother at all to charge.
I work for a hospital and need to be on call nearly every day, and the needless quirks on this phone are making it very difficult to do so.
I am at my wits end, and would like to know what my options are. I did not pay almost $200 to insurance to have a subpar refurb for the next two years, and I cannot afford to pay $150 to Asurion for another refurb. If my money goes anywhere, I would like it to go to something that will last me the next two years. I realize that I am very lucky to even have a nice phone, but it is not meeting my needs and is risking my day job when the hospital can't get ahold of me readily.
What are my options? I am on family plan. Should I pull my number off the plan for my own? Try to qualify for Verizon Edge? Or take my number to another provider that will give me a new contract and a new phone? Thank you for your help in advance!You should have arranged return of the damaged replacement to begin with right then. Too late for that though. At this point, you can buy a used phone on Swappa.com or elsewhere that is compatible to Verizon or buy full retail. I don't they will let you Early Edge right now being so close to having just upgraded.

When I connect headphones the volume control doesn't work correctly. It should play only through the headphones, but it doesn't. In fact the volume control will bounce back and forth between operating correctly and not working correctly ... And will eventually stop the music. Frustrating!

I downloaded latest software on iphone 4 and installed new software on my imac (snow leopard 8.6)and now phone not synching with new itunes. Itunes does recognize the phone but the itunes is totally different now. It doesn't look anything like the previous vesions. I can't even find a tab for synching. very strange. any help is appriciated.

The same way you would sync with any other version of iTunes.
Connect the device.
Select the device.
Select Sync.
In the new version of iTunes, the sidebar is disabled by default. With a device connected, it will be listed in the upper right hand corner.
If you want the side bar back, type Cntrl + S. -
I changed my email address for my apple id but icloud still has old email adress and when I try to signout so I can sign in with new address it asks for password and then says invalid so I cannot delete the account to sign in with the new one! Please help
OK...now I appear to 'progressed' I changed my email address back to original on Apple id and then was able to delete icloud account. Apparently I couldnt do it as it kept requesting password when I entered passsword ( both old and new one, it wouldnt accept it as it had my old email address in ) It didnt do that on ios6 . Anyway I deleted account, but now I tried to login in with my new id/password and it says unable as already in use!!! More help needed please! Its a nightmare!!

Restore your iTunes library from your computer's backup along with all other important data that should be included with your computer's backup such as your documents, photos, etc.
Important to maitain a backup with any computer platfirm but event more so with Windows due to being very insecure and unreliable, -

Accidental damage is not covered under the warranty but if possible to reset the screen without causing additional damage, the Apple Store should do this without charging for it.

It is peculiar, that Chrome, Safari, and Skype can access FB, but not the iPhoto uploader.
Do you see any error messages/ diagnostics in the Console Window, when you try to connect to Facebook?
Launch a Console window from Applications > Utilities and clear the Console Window. Then try to upload. Are there any new messages?
And also launch a Terminal and have a look, if "facebook.com" is properly resolved:
