With OS 10.6.7 update, iTunes 10.2.1 (1) crashes my MacbookAir
After upgrading to the new version of OS X I opened up iTunes and then my entire system froze. I then found out that it only happened with Safari open with some Flash running. I uninstalled Flash and now the computer doesn't freeze anymore. Again, this only started after installing the 10.6.7 update for my Macbook AIR and it only crashes when I open up iTunes.
This is what Console reports in database searches:

Hm... Strange.
I had reset the iPhone.
I tried disabling the auto-launch of iPhoto, and...
...when I plugged iPhone in, it started to freeze iTunes, but after a minute or so, the iPhone started synching. I found this odd because I had disabled auto-sync (I press Sync in iTunes when I want to have it Sync).
Now, of course, I do want auto-launch of iPhoto back on, since I like it for when I attach my digital cameras. I hope that when I set it back, it won't re-introduce the problem.
The restart I did may have helped. I resist restarting because my wife's account is often open and she frequently leaves unsaved files up, so it is a pain to respectfully close out her work and then restart. -
Issues with trying to use the updated iTunes
So I updated iTunes on my computer and I plugged my iPod into my computer but iTunes does not open up so I opened iTunes up manually and it's so confusing but my iPod doesn't show up and I don't know how to use the updated iTunes. I really need help and I hope someone can help me.

Did anyone have issues with losing their ringtones when updating itunes?
I lost all my ringtones when I updated my itunes. which is not good because i cant redownload them. Anyone know what happened tried to restore old backup and they didn't restore that way either.

I understand that your ringtones are missing after you performed an update to iTunes. You are correct that ringtones cannot be re-downloaded from the purchased section of the iTunes Store. In this situation, you may need to either use the report a problem link with your purchases or contact iTunes Store support. You can use the following article as a reference.

Just to add a positive comment, I had no problems on my Mac with iTunes 5.0

My iTunes has been freezing when it opens then crashes my computer. I have uninstalled it, reinstalled, updated yet it still will not open? I am using windows 7 home premium 3.2GHz with 4Gig of ram. All my other programs work flawless but iTunes will not? anyone have a solution?
Having found a working library file it may pay to copy it into the standard location and reconnect to it there. See Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash for the steps I would normally have given.

I had NO problem with Home Sharing until I updated iTunes. INSTANTLY, Home Sharing quit. I have two AppleTV's, two computers running Win7 and iTunes. All have worked seamlesly until I updated iTunes last night. I have tried all of the Home Sharing trouble shooting suggestion with no luck. My network connections are good and I can stream EVERYTHING ( Netflix, Youtube, NetRadio etc ) EXCEPT I cannont connect to Home Sharing. What gives Apple Support? Where is the fix? Anyone?
Has there been any response that helped? Why hasn't someone from Apple responded with a solution? This post was created back in 2012 and I did an update on my iTunes to 12.1.1.4 and all of a sudden my Home Sharing stopped working. I even reset my settings on my Apple TV hoping that would work and no, it didnt. Does anyone have a solution?

Any iTunes above 10 will screw up .mov accessibility in FCP, so I do not want to download iTunes 11 just to get this iPod Touch updated to 5 or 6.
Can I download the update some other way?If you have a 4G iPod (one with cameras) you can only go to iOS 6.2.1 and that requires iTunes 10.7 or above.
If you have a 3G you can go to 5.5.1 with iTunes 10.5 or later.
A 2G can only go to 4.2.1

I have an iPhone 6 with 64 GB of memory. I have iTunes Match turned on my account and on the phone. Suddenly, the Music app is only displaying music purchased directly from iTunes and no playlists are displayed. This occurred after updating iTunes Match on my PC; when new music did not appear, I turned off iTunes Match off/on the PC then did the same on iPhone 6. It looks like iTunes Match is trying to do a full download to the phone but it never completes. Ideas?

can't download anything from app store or itunes. everytime i try to install an app i get this error "there is a billing problem with a previous purchase. please update ur payment method". i have recently changed my visa debit card and home adress and when i make these changes i still get the same error.

I cannot get my iPad 2 (brand new) to work with my MacBook pro. It says I need iTunes 7.0, but when I go to update iTunes on my MAC, it says I have teh latest version 10.6.3. I have Mac OS 10.5.8 on my MacBook Pro. Any help would be appreciated. Do I need to upgrade my OS? If so, which version?
In order to download iTunes 10.7, which requires OS X 10.6.8, you have to buy OS X 10.6. It's available from the online Apple store, in the US by calling 800-MY-APPLE, or online here. After OS X 10.6 installation, run Software Update until there are no more updates available, at which point you'll be at OS X 10.6.8 and can install iTunes 10.7.

Is it possible to update itunes without getting Mavericks? I have an issue with my iPhone.
I recently updated to ios8.0.2 for my iphone 5s. And now when I plug it into my macbook, itunes prompts me to update itunes because ios8 apparently doesn't allow me to sync the previous version of itunes. But the new itunes requires updating to Mavericks, which I really DO NOT want to do, mostly because I do run Bootcamp a lot and start up in windows from time to time. I've heard people having issues with bootcamp and Mavericks, like having to re install Windows/Parallels/etc. and I am not ready for that mess. I don't have access to my windows 7 serial number anymore (it was given to me by a teacher awhile back with whom I don't have contact with anymore). I'm just ultimately trying to avoid screwing up bootcamp/windows, losing files, and having to purchase windows if the worst case scenario happens.
I considered just using itunes in windows, but on the windows side of things, itunes wont give me the notification/option to transfer all my purchases from my iphone, so there goes that. If there is a solution to just transferring purchases, I'd much rather go that route than the mess of mavericks.Click here.

Hello there - how can I share my iTunes library between two users on the same computer? I put the library in a shared folder between both and have selected this library on both as well, but when I update iTunes with music etc it only appears on one?
Thank you Joe - I tried this but it's only showing a teensy amount of music - the stuff on the second users account as opposed to the giagntic library on the 'main' account. I actually went to a Genius Bar and they said that apple doesn't really want you to share music between accounts - parents don't want to hear their kids music etc. Which seemed strange, but it might be the case sadly Thanks anyway!

Can not update iTunes because I have iMac with 10.5.8 . How I will sync my iphone 6.0 with an older version of iTunes on my iMac???? There is no update for the software of my iMac and no update for the iTunes.... So how can I sync????
Requirements for iPhone 5:
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.7 or later
The highest version of iTunes you can install is 10.6.3 which will not sync with the iPhone 5.
