With what cable do I connect my mac to a tv (both last generation)?

I don't see a HDMI or display port..  Both image and audio please.
Thanks

Your Thunderbolt port 'doubles' as a Mini Display port and I'm assuming that you have an HDMI input somewhere on your television? If so, I've used this adapter from Monoprice quite successfully - carries audio as well as video. And less than $7.
Good luck,
Clinton

So is it necessary to buy a mac to guarantee that a website acts like it should, or is the Safari for Windows enough?

Pages render the same for Mac and Windows in Safari.

  • What cable type for connecting with gigabit port

What kind of lan cable that I should use for connecting with gigabit port from Time Capsule to get the fastest transfer rate. And what is the maximum rate MB/sec that could be?

You can use CAT5 or CAT6.
    max transfer rate is:
Fast Ethernet has a theoretical speed of 100 Mbits/sec (12 MB/sec), while Gigabit Ethernet has a theoretical speed of 1000 Mbits/sec (120 MB/sec). That suggests a double speed advantage of Gigabit Ethernet over USB (60 MB/sec), but neither protocol hits its maximum. In reality, a typical USB connected disk is roughly equal to or lesser than the throughput of a shared drive attached over a Gigabit Ethernet network.
    Over wireless network:
    - 802.11b has a theoretical speed maximum of 11 Mbits/sec with a typical transfer rate of around 4.5 Mbits/sec (0.5 MB/sec) with an ideal signal.
    - 802.11g has a theoretical speed maximum of 54 Mbits/sec, with a typical transfer rate of around 23 Mbits/sec (2.5 MB/sec) with an ideal signal.
    - 802.11n has a theoretical speed maximum of 300 Mbits/sec, with a typical transfer rate of around 74 Mbits/sec (9.25 MB/sec) with an ideal signal.

  • Iphone Purchased in Middle East with out Facetime and doesnt connect to Mac on new Update Yasmite

I recently visited Dubai and purchased 2 iphone 6, As per middle east Iphone comes without Facetime which is quit disturbing and hard to understand, This week my Mac upgraded to Yasmite which is amazing and i love it, There is a very good option that i can receive calls and make calls from my Mac without worring where my iphones are But all happines went dump when its not connecting with Iphone after searching web that My Iphone need to have FaceTime thats really sad, Iphone should and must provide some solution to this. becasue there are many many users who have iphone without facetime and having complete family of Apple.
Kindly if anyone can help on this to resolve this matter without changing the mobile. Will be highly appreciated

As already stated you can't and won't get facetime on your phone because you purchased a phone where facetime has been banned by the governemt.
It doesn't matter if you move to a different country where facetime is allowed or switch to a different carrier your phone will never have facetime on it.
If you want facetime you will need to purchase a new phone in a country where facetime isn't banned by the government.

  • How and with what version to upgrade iphoto on MAC OS 10.5.8 with iphoto 08, version 7.1.5.

    I have a MAC OS 10.5.8 with i photo 08, version 7.1.5.
I prepared a photo book to order via the Apple Shop as i did several times before without any problems.
But this time  when it comes to order the book I get the message" Version 07 no longer valid". I need to upgrade iphoto but I don't know how.
How do i upgrade and will the iphoto 11 work on my old MAC? or is there another version I can use
thks a lot beacuse I am a little lost

Before upgrading to OS X 10.9 Mavericks, you need to first purchase a retail install disc of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard to install first.
If you are from Canada or France, you need to get this discs from an online Apple website in your country.
Here is the disc you need here in the U.S. Apple Store website.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After getting this disc and installing the initial version of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, you can use OS X Software Update feature to update to OS X 10.6.8 where that update gives you access to the Mac App Store and the free upgrade to OS X 10.9 Mavericks, if you choose.
Another thing you need to do is to upgrade the amount of system RAM in your Mac.
Currently, your Mac only has 2 GBs of RAM installed. This a bare minimum, paltry amount of RAM for running the newer versions of OS X.
Newer versions of OS X really need a real working, mimimum RAM amount of 4 GBs.
Your Mac model can take a total of 6 GBs of RAM.
I advise installing the complete total 6 GBs of RAM.
Correct and reliable Mac RAM can be purchased from online Mac RAM sources Crucial memory or OWC (macsales.com).
OWC ( macsales.com) has the 6 GB RAM module kit.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/5300DDR2S6GP/
If you are not from the U.S., OWC (macsales.com), I believe, has international shipping of their products.

  • I need to connect my mac air with my mac mini home computer?

I cannot find out what is needed to connect my mac air with my home computer, a mac mint

If you have a WiFi network at home, the MBA should easily connect to the Mac mini or vice-versa for anything from file sharing, oprical disc sharing, or even screen sharing. Start in System Preferences > Sharing and turn on the desired services. In that same panel you can choose whether that access is for all users or for specific user accounts on the particular system.
Then go to the other computer and open Finder then look under "shared" and select the computer you want to share. If you have activated screen sharing as well as file sharing you will actually have logon to both shares using the user account and password for the user you specified on the other machine.

  • Iphone3g connection to HDTV--what cable, what dock?

I want to connect my, soon to be ordered, Iphone 3g to my kitchen's HDTV. I am still a little confused about a dock for the iphone that will normally be in my kitchen. My kitchen tv supports Component HD connections. (This tv is currently connected, as a slave, via a single cable through the wall to living room tv and Dish receiver--and there are the five connection "ports" available on the back of this tv--for connection to an Apple Component AV cable.) However, the Apple material on this cable only says iphone not iphone 3g. Can this cable plug directly into Iphone 3G? OR could this cable plug directly into the Iphone 3G Dock (on line literature says this dock can connect to a stereo or speakers using an AV cable or a stereo audio cable to play music from IPhone 3G, but it doesn't say anything about its being able to connect to a tv.) So, what dock with what cable could connect my iphone 3g to my tv--so that I can watch video podcasts on my tv in the kitchen?

The Apple Component AV Cable will work directly from the iPhone, and is compatible with the iPhone 3G. The Apple Universal Dock will output video from the iPhone 3G when the Apple Component AV Cable is connected to it (you'd need the iPhone 3G adapter for the Universal Dock, too).
    Hope this helps...

  • My old mac screen broke down and I would like to transfer my photos and documents to my new mac. Is it possible to transfer it with the cable without fixing my screen?

My old mac screen broke down and I would like to transfer my photos and documents to my new mac. Is it possible to transfer it with the cable without fixing my old mac screen? Please help!

Sure! If the two Macs have Thunderbolt ports, attach a Thunderbolt cable between them. If they have FireWire, or if one has FireWire and one Thunderbolt, connect a FireWire cable (with a TB adaptor if necessary). Reboot the old Mac holding down the T key. Make sure it's connected to power. You'll now see its system drive appear on the desktop of the other Mac and you can use Migration Assistant to automatically transfer files, or drag them over manually.

  • VPN Connectivity from Mac to Windows Server

I have been using Windows OS all my life, now I recently bought a new Mac machine, and it my first time using Mac OSX Lepord, so I don't no much, I tried to connect my Mac to a VPN - windows using the mac VPN Connectivity provided which uses tunneling Protocol, I am successful in establishing connectivity to windows server, but the problem is, it still uses ip address assigned by the router while rowsing, and not the ip address of the VPN machine while browsing sites, the reason I use VPN connectivity is to bypass ISP who blocks most of the useful sites. I tried to set proxy setting in my safari browser, but failed and also automatic proxy does not work, can someone hep me and tell me how to achieve what I am trying to achieve using MAc.

Though this will be a pain it will help trace down the problem.
Since you are attempting to VPN to the SBS what happens if you connect the Mac locally dose RDP connection map the drives and can you map to the SBS shares directly?
What happens if you try connecting with a PC via the VPN?
Also (though risky) I would open all the ports on your firewall that point to the SBS and try connecting to the VPN again with Mac and see what happens. (Don’t forget to close them back).
Below are two links that may provide some additional information. The first is from Microsoft and list all of the ports used by MS products. The second one is a public post that focuses on SBS 2003.

  • I have a Macbook Pro 13.3 i5 w/ no hdmi port. How can I connect my Mac to TV to watch video, photo ?  Is the Thunderbolt port a mini display port where I can use a mini display port to HDMI cable? If not, what are my options??

I have a Macbook pro 13.3 w/ i5 that has no hdmi port. I want to be able to connect the Mac to my TV set to watch Video, Photos and files from Mac to TV.
Is the Thunderbolt port similar to a display port or mini display port? Can I use thunderbolt port to connect thru a mini displayport to HDMI cable or converter?
Been trying to locate a USB to HDMI cable or converter (at a reasonable price) but all I found is a displayport or mini displayport to HDMI cable/converter.
What other options are available ?
Thanks a lot for your assistance.

Thunderbolt uses a Mini DisplayPort adapter to send video and audio to HDMI. what do i need to connect my mac book pro to the tv with the mac's thunderbolt port to hdmi? I have the newest macbook pro. I'm wanting to have the best picture I can get from my 1080p tv. thanks

Thanks Community! I solved the problem. In fact it was not a problem but lack of understanding. These guys at Apple are way ahead in thir thinking. I will try to explain as short as I can.
In Lion, ihe Prefferences/Display show only two choices: 6-7 steps of resolution and some color tab. No two screens, no two display to overlap, nothing for us to do. "That was the problem"! Everything is automatic.
When I connected the HDMI cable to the Miniport into a T-bolt slot, the TV screen showed the "spiral galaxy" how Zyriab is calling it. In fact he gave me the best clue. That shows the connection is good. But where is the Mac Book image?
You have to drag it to the right out of the Mac Book display area, and "voila!" it will continue on the TV screen. The same with the mouse pointer, push it out ofthe Mac Book display area and you see it on the TV sreen. Good image, you can keep the max resolution, etc. The sound is still on the Book's speakers. I have to figure that out.
Thank everybody, especialy Zyriab, ne was the closest.
    High regards to everybody

what cable do i need to use to connect my grandson's old style external isight webcam to his 2014 Mac mini in order for him to be able to FaceTime me

You need either a FireWire 800 to FW 400 cable or a FR 800 (male)/FW(female) adopter.
However. it the Mini (note that you still have the late 2012 Mini, Apple has not updated the Mini since then) has Mavericks it may not work satisfactorily. I tried it on my 2102 and I get abount 1 frame every 20 seconds. Another uses posted same problem.
However, it it work fine on my late 2009 Mini with Mavericks
