Wizard interrupted before QuickTime could be completely installed?

I bought license to use QT PRO 7 - downloaded the latest version of QT pro 7 (itunes + qt) yesterday (1/20) evening and repeatedly failed to get it either to install over an older existing version of itunes and qt. The installation routine stops close to the end of the process and returns the message "the Wizard was interrupted before QuickTime could be completely installed". The pre-existing old versions of I-tunes and quicktime are gone. And there is no sign of either in my add/remove software menu. I've tried reinstalling the package in safe mode. I've tried shutting down all running programs via the task manager and via msconfig. I've tried using the current QT stand-alone installer. I've tried going back to an ealier restore point. And Quicktime phone support was unable to resolve the conflict either. Anybody here recognize the error message and know how to resolve the problem?

I am having this problem too. QT7 gets past the registering part then goes into a publishing step, the window closes and another window pops up that says
"InstallShield Wizard Completed
The wizard was interrupted before QuickTime could be completely installed
The system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run the installation again.
Click Finish to exit the wizard."
I have tried several times using both the itunes/QT7 and the standalone QT7 installers and both fail at this step. The itunes version doesn't even bother to post the above message though. It just closes the window leaving you thinking that it completed successfully. I have tried disabling my virus scanner, cleaning all references that I could find from the registry, deleting all previous installs, but nothing seems to work, so now I have no quicktime on my system of any version and can't get it reinstalled.

"The installation was interrupted before itunes could be completely installed." I am getting this error when I try to install itunes or ipod updater form either the downloaded copies or the CD. Oh, one more thing. If this proves to work, you must configure your Firewall to not block iTunes from launching. What will happen is, you will download iTunes and Qucktime and when you go to launch it, it won't open. That would be because that firewall is blocking it. Post back and let me know if you have Norton, I can post the instructions on how to configure it to allow iTunes and Quicktime.

  • "The installation was interrupted before iTunes could be installed"

For several months now I have tried unsuccessfully to install iTunes on my laptop computer. The older versions worked, with several bugs, but they worked nonetheless. After installing EITHER iTunes or QuickTime, I get the messages:
"The installation was interrupted before iTunes could be installed" or "The installation was interrupted before QuickTime could be installed". The result is that NOTHING has been installed on my harddrive. I have read over many previous tech support posts on this forum and have tried many of the proposed solutions to other peoples' problems.
This isn't necessarily an error message because it doesn't 'popup' after installation, but rather is on the iTunes+QuickTime screen that begins by saying "the iTunes for Windows installer has completed". Immediately underneath is where I get "The installation was interrupted before iTunes could be installed". Followed by "the system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run the installation again." (no ****?). My only option at this point is to click "Finish", which takes me back to the desktop with no sign of iTunes or anything.

Just noticed the post below mine solved this problem. Now additional problems have arisen...

  • Error message reads, " Wizard Interuppted before InDesign CS2 was comletely installed" when removing

Adobe Tech Support no longer supports CS2 since the release of CS4 and has referred me to knowledgebase and the forum for help.
    This is my original problem:
When you try to start Adobe InDesign CS2, or Adobe InCopy CS2, the application returns one of the following error messages:
-- "Could not personalize your copy of [application] because of missing or invalid personalization information."
-- "Please personalize your copy of [application] to continue the setup process."
-- "The serial number you provided is not valid. Please check your serial number and re-enter it"
    I was referred to:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=331649
The instructions for all methods require that I remove InDesign, but I get an error message that says "Wizard Interuppted before InDesign CS2 was completely installed" when removing.
My OS is Windows XP. Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thank you!

Step one is to back up your computer in case anything goes wrong.
Once you've done that, look at http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=331300 which lists all the folder locations for the creative suite along with the registry keys. It says you should uninstall using ad/remove, but if this doesn't work it should be OK to remove things manually and edit the registry, then run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.
At that point you should reboot and you should be able to try installing again.

While installing Acrobat XI Pro, the installation automatically rolls back and I get the message "The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (11.0.07) could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again." How to resolve it.
How do I modify the system.

    Hi Rgardezi,
The only reason why Acrobat installation fails and throw this error message is when there are some services running in the background causing the installer not to complete the installation. My take is try the following steps and suggest if you were able to install the products or not :
    1) Navigate to control panel and confirm that there is no line Item that talks about Acrobat. If you see Acrobat XI listed there, please remove them.
    2) Perform a selective Start up using the steps mentioned in this link.
Please suggest if the above mentioned steps were able to resolve the query for you or not.

  • "...wizard was interrupted before Palm desktop by Access could be completely installed..."

When I attempt to install Palm Desktop 6.2 by running PalmDesktopWin62.exe everything seems to go fine until the "Configuring Registry" starts.  Then I get a Microsoft Windows message that says: "... The wizard was interrupted before Palm desktop by Access could be completely installed. ...".  Then the installation stops and the installation does not happen.
If it matters I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium.  And before I attempted the installation, I: uninstalled my previous versions of the Palm Desktop using the uninstall feature from the CD installation disk, deactivated my virus protection, shut down Windows Defender, and set the PalmDesktopWin62.exe compatibility mode to the "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" option.
Does anybody know how to fix this problem?

Have you tried just running it "normally"?  How about disabling your AntiVirus software temporarily during the installation?
At this point you may need to do a "Clean Uninstall" and some registry edits before trying again:

  • Quicktime could not be installed

When I installed Quicktime, the error message says: An older version of Apple Application Support cannot be removed. and the installation interrupted though.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Application Support entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Quicktime won't update, install, or delete??????

    Hi,
My PC is running XP and refuses to update Quicktime. When I try to install Quicktime 7, it gets almost all the way done, and then says, "The wizard was interrupted before Quicktime could be completely installed". I have deleted the registry keys for Quicktime, but when I restart, the Quicktime icon pops up in the system tray. How can this be?
So, what do I do? It appears that I cannot run it, or delete it, or update it????????

so i tried to download the windows installer update from the link you gave me but now i'm getting a different error and it won't let me download the installer. The error reads:
    Windows Script Host
    Script: C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\IXP000.TMP\StartMsl.vbs
    Line: 1
    Char: 1
Error: ActiveX component can't create object: 'Scripting.FileSystemObject"
    Code: 800A01AD
    Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error
I have no idea what this means or how to fix it. Please help!

  • Wizard Interrupted

I'm trying to download Quicktime to my laptop but everytime I run it something happens and it doesn't install. I accept the lisence agreement. I choose my destination location. The requested operations are performed except for publishing product information. It gets to that point in the download and stop then a screen informs me that the wizard was interrupted before QT could be completely installed.
I am only downloading the basic version, not the version for the IPOD. I don't know why it won't complete the download but I'm hoping someone has an answer.

  • Itunes 6.0.2 won't completely install

Tried to install v 6.0.2 a couple of days ago but got following message at end:
"...install was interrupted before it could be completely installed. System has not been modified. Click finish and try to install again." Tried that...same thing..
I've read some of the posts here and have verified I have all antivirus / spyware turned off. I ran ewido and deleted what it found (cookies). Next ran adaware - deleted what it found (cookies and virus). Then ran AVG free (freeware to detect virus') and deleted what it found (several trojan horse virus in different directories although none seemingly related to itunes or quicktime). Thought I was making progress until I went back to download & reinstall standalone (quicktime) and got same "interrupted before install complete" message.
I have verified I no longer have itunes listed as one of my programs. I do see qttask.exe as one of my processes running in task manager. Not sure if it should be there or not.
Through all of this I no longer have songs on my ipod although I noticed they are in their normal directory on the PC.
Don't know what to do next. I'm going on a trip in 5 days and would like to at least get my songs locaded back on my ipod - even if it means I have to wait till later to fix itunes. Not sure if this is possible however.
Thx in advance for any suggestions.

    hi y'all!
lefty, even though you're not getting a 1607 (or a quit with no error message at the "publishing product information" stage), did you try applying the relevant techniques from the document Katrina linked you to earlier in the thread?
iTunes for Windows installation quits while publishing product information
... might be worth a try. we managed to fix one of your error messages using that doc on a 6.0.3.5 install earlier this evening:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1751177#1751177
(i thought that the error message might have been associated with having this problem on a 6.0.3.5 install ... but apparently not, given your report.)

  • PSE 12 Installation Wizard Interrupted

I'm having problems installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12.
I have already downloaded the bundle. The problem is right at the end of installation wizard. It says status is registering and then immediately does an action rollback.
The message "The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again."
I have tried multiple times to delete all files and downloading/installing again.
If anyone can offer some help that would be greatly appreciated.
