Wizard not consistently recognizing fields created in Indesign CS5.5

I ran the wizard to test a single page I created InDesign and it recognized my buttons and form fields fine. I duplicated the page in InDesign (I need 50+ pages). I ran the wizard again and it only recognizes my buttons but none of my text fields. Because I have so many pages, I cannot enter all of my fields manually and because my PDF is interactive, I cannot run the wizard on one page at a time.

Are the locations where the text is to be entered really look like a form field?
Is there a strong underline where an entry is to be made?
Does the string for the form field name end with a colon?
Many have found that the wizard is a very poor and there remains much hand work to properly define the formats, name the fields for calculations or matching databases, etc to make it that useful.

  • Can't show special characters (ÆØÅ) in pdf fields created with inDesign CS6

Hi Guys im having a problem with special characters in pdf's form fields created in inDesign CS6
instead of the character ÆØÅ it creates squares or some other seemingly random character
    Here's the pdf

    I figured it out
Just in case people had the same problem here is how it's done: (i misunderstood the two posters above me, so you are actually going to change fonts within acrobat, like they said, and save it)
Open the pdf in acrobat, go and change font settings for each of your fields and change the font under the "Appearance" tab.

  • Extractor (2lis_11_vaitm) does not takes new field created with new domain

    Hi,
I created a new data element and domain in ECC
    Source system ECC:
    1. I created a new Z data element and Z domain (char 60) in ECC.
    2. I created a new Zappend Strcuture and added a new field with the above data element to a extract structure of 2LIS_11_VAITM.
    3. In RSA6, I unchecked hide column and checked Field column.
    4. I wrote an ABAP code in CMOD to populate tis field.
    5. I can see the data in that field in RSA3 of this extractor.
    BI side:
    1. I replicated the datasource.
    2. I could see that field in the fields tab of the datasource. (NOTE: In the field tab, against the column u201Ctransferu201D that field value is unchecked.)
    3. When I check the PSA table, I donu2019t see this field.
    4. Plus I donu2019t see this field in the right hand side of the update rule also (3.5 flow) or in the transformation (7 flow).
I unchecked the field column and activated the datasource in RSA6 and replicated it in BI. Then also the same problem.
Is there anything that needs to be done for this Datasource so that I can get this field in the update rule and transformation.

    Hello.
I was checking this issue, and all the enhancements with fields need to have a customer-exit to populate this fields, otherwise they will come BLANK.
As those fields are not delivered by SAP and are not in the original datasource(RSA5) from Business content, this is related to customer's enhancements. We can only see these fields in the datasource enhanced by customer(RSA6).
To have the proper values assigned to those field, you should write an User Exit program. This program must be created to fill the enhanced fields as they are not filled in the same way as the SAP delivered
fields.More details about this process you can check note 576886.
576886-Change to user-defined fields not extracted.
This note is an example for some datasources regarding what need to be done.
    Thanks.

  • Font changes in PDF form fields created in InDesign

I wasn't sure where to post this -- InDesign or Acrobat forum -- I created a lot of form fields in InDesign and when I exported to PDF, some of the form fields ended up using Times and some using Helvetica. When creating the fields in InDesign, I copied and pasted most of them to duplicate them and then changed their names, so it seems like they should all be using the same font.
I know how to later change the form field font in Acrobat, but it's not efficient to have to do that.
If anyone knows how to specify which font is used in an InDesign form field and make it stick in the resulting PDF, I hope you'll help me out.

Check if there is everything OK with the <ORACLE_HOME>\tools\Common90\uifont.ali file.
You can alias specific styles of font there. For example
    Courier.12... = Courier.14....
changes courier 12 to 14 in the report output.

  • Adobe Edge .OAM Animation Not Working In ePub Created In InDesign CC

    Hello,
I am trying to create an ePub that contains video and animations.
Using Adobe Edge Animation CC, I created an animated chart.  When I tested by previewing it in my browser it worked fine.  I then exported the animation as an .OAM file.
In InDesign CC, I created my document, imported a .MP4 video and the .OAM animation.  When I test it using the Folio Preview, the video works but the animation does not.  The animation instead acts more like a static image.  When I click on it, nothing happens.  Ideally, the animation should occur once the page is loaded (but I can settle for the animation to happen once clicked).
Also, I would like to create an Interactive PDF and .MOBI version of this document.  I am a complete noob to this, so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Thank you Steve.  I am running InDesign CC 9.2.  I exported an EPUB 3 file and tested it using Firefox's EPUBReader (Since I am experiencing an issue with Readium).  The video is working fine, but the .OAM animated chart does not appear at all.  Do you know what could be causing the .OAM animation not to appear?  Below are some screenshot I grabbed.
This is how the file looks in InDesign CC.  Circled is the .OAM animation.
Below is how it looks in EPUBReader.  The .OAM animated chart is missing. (The layout has changed also, but please consider that this is my first ePub that I am creating.  This is all new to me.)

  • File created in InDesign CS5.5 appears blank in InDesign CC.

When I open a file originally created in CS5.5, the pages appear blank. Moving my mouse over the page boxes highlight, showing that the original elements are still there but not showing. Links and text are there but do not show unless zoomed out to 25%, but disappear again once zoomed back to full screen. What's the fix for this?

Try exporting to IDML, preferably from the original version. See Remove minor corruption by exporting

  • Hyperlinks are not working in Interactive PDF in InDesign CS5

Hi, I have a book that I previously in CS4 exported as interactive pdf, with Hyperlinks and buttons. Now in CS5 When I export it as Interactive PDF, the Hyperlinks don't function anymore (there are hyperlinks in the TOC to link to specific pages in the book) - if I export as Print PDf the hyperlinks funtion well, but the buttons no longer function (prev. Page, next page and so on)  Any suggestions?

    The process is as followed:
    Insert a 'Text box'
    Wrote Wesport in Text Box
Highlighted the word Wesport, right clicked and selected the hyperlink option
Selected the option to inset a website link
Pasted the whole link and pressed ok
The hyperlink then was shown in the document blue with an underline
Then selected the Adobe Printer through the Print option
The PDF was then created but hyperlinks did not work.
Hope thats is enough detail let me know if you need any more.

  • URLs are not being recognized inside PDF

URL links inside a PDF that I've created in InDesign CS5 are not being recognized.
I have email and website URLs embedded inside a PDF that was created in InDesign. These links are being recognized and I can click on them in Chrome, Opera, IE or Safari on the Mac. Eg, hovering over the mailto or http URLs the cursor turns to a hand and the links are clickable. Firefox is the only browser that does not recognize ANY links in the PDF. The cursor doesn't change to a hand instead it just remains as the standard text insertion cursor. The links are not clickable.
    Firefox 26.0
Adobe Reader plugin 11.0.4.63 (latest as of today)

Current Firefox versions have enabled a built-in PDF Viewer that doesn't have all features that other PDF readers like the Adobe Reader have or may not function properly otherwise.
You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use another application like the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask in "Firefox > Options/Preferences > Applications".
You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.
You can check the value of the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types pref on the about:config page and remove the application/pdf part if present or reset the pref to the default via the right-click context menu if you want to display PDF documents in Firefox with another application (i.e. not the built-in PDF Viewer).

  • Indesign CS5.5 cannot open CS5.5 indesign file

    Hello all,
I created an InDesign CS5.5 file yesterday and today i can't open it anymore from the officer server.
When the file is on the server at the office and i try to open it, a pop-up shows this:
"Cannot open the file "filename.indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application".
It doesn't work for any other InDesign files on the server neither and it is not open in another application or on another computer at the office.
When i transfer that file on my desktop it works fine, but i can't work that way at the office of course.
Has someone an answer to that ?
    Thank you,
    Thierry
    --------------------------------------------- EDIT ---------------------------------------------
For all who have this error, restart your machine and it works fine!
    Cheers,
    Thierry

Since you've shown us the folder contents it's a good bet it isn't in use (no lock file). And it doesn't look like the file is mis-named as there doesn't seem to be anything else there that would be the .indd file (but just in case, open it in TextEdit and paste the first few lines here so we can see what the file header says), so the most likely case is the file is damaged. Is that on a removable device of some sort?
You can try the tool at Repair corrupt InDesign Adobe files on Mac OS X  or send me a link to the file by private message and I'll try the recovery tool I have for Windows.

  • InDesign Cs5 displayed with wrong resolution (doesn't work in 1920x1080)

    Hello everybody
I've encountered a resolution issue concerning Indesign CS5 (and Illustrator CS5). The problem only concerns my brandnew laptop running under Windows 8.1 (Screen Resolution 1920x1080). On my other, older PC (with the same native screen resolution), but running under Windows 7, the problem doesn't exist.
The problem consists in the fact, that Indesign CS5, even though everything else is displayed in 1920x1080 is displayed in some lower resolution, making a good workflow impossible, *** the texts I write are not very readable if I want the whole page displayed (and it's ugly). In other Adobe CS5 Apps, like Photoshop CS5, this problem does not occur. It doesn't also occur in the trial version of Indesign CC, but I cannot afford paying over 30€ per month just to be able to work with an acceptable work resolution. (That should really be included in the price I paid for CS5.)
To see what I mean, here are the links to 2 screenshots taken of those 2 Apps, with exactly the same screen settings:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4786930/Indesign%20CS5%20Screenshot%20Windows%208-1.jp g
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4786930/Photoshop%20CS5%20Screenshot%20Windows%208-1.j pg
Is there any workaround known for this problem? It is driving me crazy
    Best regards,
    Frank

What's bizar is that other applications work perfectly fine at the right resoution (like photoshop CS5 for example). The screen runs at its native resolution. The rest of the program works "fine" (except its uglyness because it somehow doesn't display in 1920x1080 even though that are the native settings of the screen.)
What do you mean exactly by running the laptop at 100% for the UI? I did not use any other programs and the laptop is brandnew. Actually CS5 is the first application I installed...

  • Damaged Files in InDesign CS5

    Hi Friends,
How can find, File whether damaged or not before opening that file in InDesign CS5....?
    Thanks,
    Divya.

    Oviya... wrote:
File size is 262 KB friend...
That's enough information. The file is damaged, period.
All file sizes created by InDesign are multiples of 4,096 bytes. Additionally, all files created by InDesign start with a standard structure of 8,192 bytes -- and at that point there is *nothing* inside the file, it's all header.
Checking with Javascript is the most senseless thing to ask. How could that even work? You start a script, point to a file, and it says "file is damaged" -- for each file you want to open?

  • InDesign CS5.5 to CS6 bug involving Tables

    Hello
I am having issues when editing files that were created in InDesign CS5.5 with CS6, most specifically with Tables.
When I open a file created in CS5.5 with CS6 some of the tables are corrupted. When I try to edit the content in the corrupt tables or even resize the text frame, the table and all content below become overset. Even adding a single character causes overset. (the text frame and table cells are large enough to accommodate the changes)
I can edit the file in CS5.5 without any issues.
Saving the file as .idml doesn't fix the problem. When I do this and open the .idml in CS6 the corrupted tables have already shifted and caused an overset before I make any edits.
    I've also tried:
    - deleting all paragraph, character, and table styles
    - pasting the content into a new file
The only way that fixed the problem was merging the table rows, but with the content we have this is definitely not ideal. The file is a multi page application form and we have more than one hundred similar files.
Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.
    -kvan

With every version there are changes to the text engine that affect composition. When you open a legacy file the changes are not made until you touch the text in some way. When you open a .idml file the changes are made at opening.

  • Items missing on PDF when using Indesign CS5.5 doc in Indesign CS6

I have had the problem of picking up a document that had been created in Indesign CS5.5 processing to PDF out of Indesign CS6 and two lines of type and two lines of outlined type had 'disappeared' when run to a PDF.
I spent some time investigating layers etc to no avail. When I eventually processed the document out of CS5.5 to PDF the result was exactly as appearing on screen in Indesign.
Does anyone know of this discrepancy between 5.5 and 6 or am I doing something wrong?

Is it interactive PDF or the Print PDF ?
Are you using the same settings in Cs6 that is in Cs5 ?
also, are these items on the master page ?

  • PDF created in InDesign -Field Visibility Issues in LifeCycle

I am working with pdf versions of brochures created in InDesign/Illustrator etc.  I am adding two simple fields to these forms and in the past it has worked easily. I have an image field where a logo can be uploaded and a text field next to it.  Behind the image field I have always used another text field visible on screen but not in print That simply states, "place logo here".  This A.M. I had an update from Adobe that installed and now if I designate the field as visible on screen, it prints.  This is the simplest of forms and I am wondering if I may have inadvertantly changed a setting somewhere along the way that has deactivated this option.

Yes, I have added cropmarks and page info to the pdf.
I checked the separations in Acrobat Pro with a friend. Both Pantone colors and CMYK show up. When I disable the CMYK, nothing of the design disappears (cropmarks and page info don't disappear either, they seem to be in both Pantone and CMYK).
I saved a new pdf, without crops and page info, and CMYK still shows up in the separations.
I'll contact the printer tomorrow, I'm pretty sure he should be able to use the file I sent him.
Thank you all for your help!
