WL service crashing
We are using Peoplesoft 8.15 with Web Logic 5.1.0 Service pack 8 with
Windows 2000 Service pack 1.
We have just applied Service pack 2 and the web logic server closes down
every few hours. This is what the weblogic logs says at the time it crashes.

We don't have any explanations- has anybody had any similar problems?
I have WL 8.1 SP2 installed on Windows 2003 Standard Edition. I have installed the 1.4.2_08 JRockit, but when I try to use it, my WebLogic servers (admin and managed) fail with the following error:
Faulting application beasvc.exe, version 1.0.3.0, faulting module jvm.dll, version 1.4.2.49095, fault address 0x000f4a97.
This happens even if I do a clean install of WL 8.1 SP2 and select the 1.4.2_08 JRockit as the Java version during installation.
Has anyone received any resolution to this? It seems to be a common problem, as I have found references to it all over the place, but no solutions.

Windows Search Service Crashes on Windows Server 2012 R2
Hi,
I'm running Windows Search service on a Windows Server 2012 R2 (24GB RAM, 8-core proc). The index catalog has a little over 2 million items (files and folders indexed).
Every once in a while this service crashes, and either remains in limbo or automatically recovers and restarts the index from zero. I'm trying to find out information about what may be causing the crashes and about how to prevent them. Unfortunately, I don't
seem to be able to find much about the Windows Search service on Windows Server 2012 R2. So anyone who may have input on this, please chip in.
Additional info:
- As mentioned above, the server OS is Windows Server 2012 R2. This is a physical server with 24GB RAM, 8-core proc and over 2TB of storage.
- This server acts as a DC and as a File Server. In addition to this and Windows Search service, there are no other major services running here
- Symantec Endpoing protection is installed and running on this server, but I've made sure to exclude the Window Search database from SEP
Here are some of the errors that are generated when the issue happens:
The error below may show up in the event logs. If it shows up more than once, the indexing service has likely crashed and won't recover.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the WSearch service.
I attempted to stop the indexing service, but it didn't stop. I noticed though that the indexing GUI started responding as soon as the
the service stop command failed. The indexing service seems to have picked up where it was (~300K items) and continued indexing.

Thanks for your post.
To resolve this problem, use the Registry Editor to change the default timeout value for all services.

Windows 8.1 - All services crashing repeatedly!
Hi,
I recently bought a HP laptop. It came with a HDD. But I added an mSATA SSD and cloned it to my SSD. Everything went fine. But recently I upgraded to Windows 8.1. Then my PC started behaving weirdly! After the update, the system wouldn't boot
to shell (explorer). After restarting several times and I spawned explorer.exe from taskmanager. Even that I didn't help. Then after observing the taskmanager for a while, I noticed an exe which was consuming some CPU. I killed that exe and my PC started the
shell properly. Then after a restart, I am not able to update anything. Even though there are 12 updates, I am not able to select and install them. Windows Update merely shows as though it's updating and then nothing happens and ends with a 800706BA Code error.
Then I checked event viewer, I found out that there are many services (All system services) crashing frequently and then they are being restarted by service control manager. I am planning to downgrade to windows 7 if there is nothing that I could do!
Thanks in advance,
Shri GaneshPerform a clean boot and check the results : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Creation of Users causes Password Service Crash
Hi All,
I somehow managed to post this in the wrong forum in PHDs - sorry about that, so am re-posting here in something more appropriate:
I have 3 Intel XServes and 2 Mac Pros on different sites which all have the same issue. When I create a user in Workgroup Manager, the following error occurs and the Password Service crashes:
"Got unexpected error
Error of type Not a known DirStatus (-1) on line 1922
of /SourceCache/ServerManagerUserGeneral/
ServerManagerUserGeneral-193.4.1/
UserAdvancedPluginView.mm"
As well as the password service crashing, it causes all other users to stop authenticating until the server is rebooted.
If I create a user with the default shortname (i.e. untitled_1) then the service does not crash. I have reinstalled the OS, replicated my build on a PPC machine with no issues but continue to have this error on the Intel machines. I have even tried installing the server OS onto an Intel iMac just to test and it does the same thing, including OSX Server 10.4.7 and 10.4.8
Has anyone else come across this or have any suggestions on what may have caused it?
Cheers,
PJRHave just realised why my XServe does not have the "MacOSXServerUpd10.4.8Univ.pkg" sitting in the receipts folder.... the server shipped with a 10.4.8 disc so that is the 'base OS' for it.
Have just checked another server running 10.4.8 on a Mac Pro and that does have the file as originally (because it doesn't ship with the Server OS) came with a 10.4.7 Server install disc.
I have upgraded the XServe to 10.4.9 using the combo update and initial testing seems to show that it is all working properly, however this server is in an integrated environment and not authenticating users usually.
I will have to backup another server running full OD services and try an upgrade (or reinstall the pkg) on this.
Many thanks!!

Hello.
We have two domain controllers - node1 (Windows 2008 R2) and node2 (Windows 2012 R2). When administrator connects to node2 and tries to rename some object in AD (for example, user) AD Domain Services crashes and reboot server after 60 seconds.

In node2 we installed all available updates and hotfixes.Hi Azamat Hackimov,
Regarding to error messages, it seems that the
ntdsai.dll file caused the issue. Based on current situation, please use
sfc /scannow command to scan protected system files and check if find error and repair. Meanwhile, you can also navigate to the location of this DLL file and confirm details.
In addition, Windows Server 2012 R2 has reboot unexpectedly. Please check if you get some dump file and then analysis it. It may help us to find the root reason. Please refer
to the following KB.
How to read the small dump memory dump file that is created by Windows if a crash occurs.

BizTalk 2013 - BAMAlerts service crash
Hi,
I am deploying BizTalk into a new clean Production environment. My topology is the following:
- 2 SQL Server machines (clustered)
- 2 BizTalk application servers (with BTS runtime)
- 1 BAM server
I have everything deployed and working well except for the BAMAlerts service crashing a minute after it starts on the BAM server.
The software installed on the BAM server is:
Windows 2008 R2 x64
SQL Server 2012 SP1 x64 with the following features:
Reporting Services (Native)
SQL Server Data Tools
Client Tools Connectivity
Integration Services
Management Tools – Basic
Management Tools – Complete
SQL Server 2012 SP1 Cumulative Update 9
BizTalk Server 2013 x64 with the following features:
Portal Components
Business Activity Monitoring
Administrative Tools and Monitoring
Additional Software
Enterprise Single Sign-On Administration Module
Enterprise Single Sign-On Master Secret Server
BAM Alert Provider for SQL Notification Services
BAM Client
BAM-Eventing
Office Excel 2013 (x86)
Once the BizTalk binaries are installed I installed Windows Update suggested patches including the update for BizTalk Server 2013 (KB2830546).
I then went on and configured the relevant features. Configuration worked well but the BAMAlerts service crashes 1 minute after starting with the following error:
Microsoft.BizTalk.Bam.Management.BamManagerException: Encountered error while executing command on SQL Server "". ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection
to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
I verified the following:
A database mail profile was created on the SQL Server instance and it works (I can use it to send emails)
Using the BAMAlerts service account I am able to connect to the SQL Server instance using Named Pipes or TCP/IP, call BizTalkMgmtDb.dbo.adm_Group_GetBAMServerAndDBName or query tables
I installed SQL Server 2005 Notification Services x64 in order to see if it helps but no success.
I installed BizTalk 2013 Cumulative Update 2 but it did no help either.
The worse part is that I hit the same issue when setting up our UAT environment, tried a number of things and ended up with a setup that works but I am not able to reproduce that success in Prod...
Following is the full error message:
Microsoft.BizTalk.Bam.Management.BamManagerException: Encountered error while executing command on SQL Server "". ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException:

Things I have tried:
Changing username format as detailed here:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/dpm/archive/2012/01/30/fix-the-dpm-console-crashes-and-logs-event-id-945-when-making-any-changes.aspx
Reinstalling DPM 2012 SP1We eventually got this resolved through Microsoft support.
The issue for us was entering the AD domain as the FQDN on install. Apparently DPM doesn't work if it is authenticating with FQDN\username.
The fix is to change the following registry setting:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\Setup\SchedulerJobOwnerName
To domain\username rather than domain.local\user (or [email protected], which also doesn't work). Alternatively, when you install DPM just put the netbios AD domain name rather than the FQDN. -
Presentation Services crash on Drill Down in a report
Hi,
We are using Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition v10.1.3.4 running on a Windows 2003 server. The underlying database is an instance of Oracle OLAP 11g v11.1.0.6.0.
It has been noticed that for some of our reports, when we click on a data item which is a hyperlink (member of a hierarchy in the underlying OLAP cube), then it is expected that the report should drill down to show the children of the element being clicked on. For some of these elements, the number of children in the drill down is potentially larger than any 'normal' element. A click (drill down) on such an element results in the following error message being recorded in the NQServer.log and the Presentation Services crash at the same time.
*[nQSError: 12002] Socket communication error at call=recv: (Number=10054) An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.*
It seems that at this point in time the report is hitting some threshold of the application (like CubeMaxRecords or CubeMaxPopulatedCells). We have not yet changed the defaults for any of the parameters in the instanceconfig.xml file since some users claim that increasing the limits for the default parameters result in a performance hit.
Any thoughts on overcoming this problem scenario are highly appreciated.
Thanks and Regards,

hi there:
I've experienced several sql server service crashes yesterday, service was brought up after a few secs as we have an autostart feature.
Today, I'd like to dig more into the errors and on the event viewer -> Application, I saw errors below
"Faulting application sqlservr.exe, version 2009.100.4302.0, time stamp 0x52f5d194, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18538, time stamp 0x4cb73957, exception code 0xc0000374, fault offset 0x00000000000a7857, process id 0x15ec, application
start time 0x01cfd7e72b2997d3.
People suggested to check dump file inside C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.SQL2008R2\MSSQL\Log
However, the lastest .mdmp file was on April 11, 2014. Do I need to turn on some settings on sql server in order to have this dump file?
Thanks
Hui

RoboHelp Server Service Crashing
At random times, sometimes hours, sometimes days apart, the
RoboHelp Server Service stops and our server is therefore down. We
are running on Windows 2003 Server. I am using internally created
databases instead of SQL. What could be the cause of this??I've seen this type of pb reported time and time again with
internally created dBs, SQL, ... . The only commonality between the
different posts is that everybody encountering this pb are using
hosting on a Windows 2003 server. Maybe somehting there... Never
tested on a different environment
We have done intensive testing of RH server 6 and 7 on
Windows 2003 and reverted to X4 because of systematic crashing. Our
net admin made some pretty interesting findings on this (see
history postings on this forum from Peter Buelens). Generally
conclusion was that it was badly programmed :-).
For the quick fix, this could work for some but if the
service crashes 20 times a day (like it did with us) the amount of
up time will be very limited !
The best solution we found so far is to stick to X4 version
that seems to be a lot more stable. Only draw back, we can't
upgrade to RH Office version 7.
Any comments on this are more than welcome.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to resolve this much appreciated.Hi Michael,
Finally scheduled the upgrade, unfortunately the problem persists after this upgrade although the message appears to have changed:-

Any other ideas?
Thanks -
I have been testing leopard server and have run into a problem that puzzles me. I hope that somebody can provide some insights on this issue.
Installed 10.5 server, advanced with mobile users and time machine backups. Upgraded mobile accounts from Tiger were less than desirable (sync issues). 10.5 users were fine except that the directory service crashed consistently during home directory syncing.
Did a fresh re-install with upgrade to 10.5.1 before configuration; still the same.
Did even a standard install with standard users only (basic services to make sure that no manual DNS or OD config. caused the problem ) and the Directory Services still go out on me.
This is running on a Xserve G5 dual with 6gig of RAM & 500gb raid1 mirror. That machine ran 10.4 perfectly for the last year plus.
Below are the shortened results form the crash reporter. Any ideas? I was really hoping that I can use leopard server to use iCal server & time machine.
Thanks!

27 libSystem.B.dylib 0x93faabf8 pthreadstart + 316My server is grinding to a standstill regularly and in frustration I did a complete erase & install and re-built everything from scratch. The only thing which I 'imported' from the old setup was my mail config using mailbfr, as I need to keep the IMAP mailstores etc. Everything else - Users, Groups, etc was all entered from scratch. I setup the server as a standard install for simplicity's sake.
And after all that, I am still getting the server grinding to a halt and the only thing I can see in the server logs is that Directory Service is crashing, similar to described in this thread. Why? Could CMB-Mike248 maybe give a bit more info on what his fix does as I cannot pretend to understand it but I am going mad with frustration because I can't get any work done and neither can my staff because they have no services.
Other clues/information - Mail Service suddenly stops (this has happened 4 times in as many days since the re-install).
AFP continually stops working and you have to stop/start or toggle a setting to get it going again (well documented bug).
How can I have this much trouble with a brand new install?
Mac Mini G4 server, 10.5.1, no other extensions or third party stuff at all, apart from a MySQL installation (latest version). 5 users.

</Event>Hi Mike,
I have same kind of
VMM Crashing issue but error looks different.
I have one SCVMM Server ( Win2008 R2 SP1) and to manage 20 host servers with 300 clients and it was running fine since 30 months. Recently I observed
that Virtual Machine manager service is not getting started automatically , due to that SCVMM console is not establishing the connection. If we forced to start the VMM service, then we are able connect the SCVMM console. But every 5 or 10 min console
was disconnecting and restarting the console. We are getting below 2 error codes. Please help me on this.
I have hosted IN-SCVMM1 server on
hyper-v virtual machine with 16GBRAM and 2 Processors.

Adobe 'Update service' Crashing
I keep getting notifications about the update service crashing, every 8 or so hours. I'm wondering what this is. It's has caused me a few problems such as exiting me out of my games evey once and a while, nothing major, bit it is beginning to get on my nerves. Next time it happens I will provide a picture but for now I seem to be unable to take screenshots. I don't even need to have my internet browser open or anyhting at uses flash, as far as I've seen.
Version: 11.3.31.222
OS: Windows XP
I would much appreciate any help. I would be happy to supply system information If it is required.
Thank you in advance. Please install one or both of the installers referenced in this post. This should take care of the update service from crashing.
