WLAN 4400 - Trunking issue

Hi all,
We are having an issue setting up a truck port for the 4400 to our 2950 swithes.
The setup will work fine without vlan tagging. The WLAN controller can ping the switch and our network.
When I configure trunking on the switch, the connection drops.
I have configured the Gi 0/2 port with the below commands
interface gi 0/2
Switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-10
switchport mode trunk
No shut
Modifying the WLAN 4400 I set the management interface tagged for vlan 2.
This breaks the connections between the WLAN controller and the switch.
Can you advise where I may be going wrong and how to rectify.

Hi fella5 :
First , Thx your idea.
All vlans configured to the switch and all the Layer3 interface configured for each one .
DHCP scope work fine .
The PC client can associate to the AP successfully when i change the interface to other vlan at WLAN interface. But the AP group just not work.
by the way , would you mind tell me how i can assign the ap group to each radio ?

    Issue:
Need some assistance configuring 3 aditional lines on my SRV3000, There are two lines that are working fine but when trying to add 3 new ones, It was unable for them to work.  Provider explained that this is a Trunking issue,  The three aditional lines  state they belong to  Trunk 9-DID Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Juan,
Do you mean a Linksys One SVR3000?
If so, this is a specialized services router that was designed to only work in the Linksys One environment registered to a Service Node.
I can't offer any help with this device.

  • Trunking issue with autonomous AP

I was at a customers that wanted a new ssid configured on his 20 1252 AP's and to stand up a new one with the olds and new SSID on it. Added the vlans, trunked them down and configured the interfaces and SSID's on the existing AP's no biggie. The new AP(not really new been kicking around in a lab) is giving me some weird issues. I deleted the exisiting config from it and took one of the running configs fromm the others that are working, modified the name and ip and pasted it in. This should have worked just fine. However the trunk port on the 4507 will not come up. The radio's are up and so is the BVI, however I cannot ping to it since the trunk is down. I started looking at the config and the thing I notice is that the AP's are in vlan 2, and the native vlan is set for vlan 2 on all the working trunk ports on the switch. However the AP's do not have vlan 2 on them, and their native vlan is 1. This should not work! I always thought the native had to match on both sides?? In any case I am probably missing something stupid, I have been up since 4am it was a 4 hour drive to get here. Oh and I have to go back and make firewall changes at midnight. Here is the relavent configs please let me know if its something stupid I usually do a lot of controller based installs havnet done a autonomous one in years. Thanks!

    Hello Mike,
actually, native VLAN doesn't have to match on two sides of a trunk, in fact it's quite common with autonomous APs. Your BVI1 is usually tied to a native VLAN 1, but switch port native VLAN is usually configured for whatever VLAN you want AP's management IP to belong to, in your case VLAN 2.
When you connect two catalyst switches together with a trunk that has different native VLAN configured on two sides, you will keep getting logging messages warning you about it. It's not recommended, but some scenarios require such setup.
Something else is wrong, maybe a physical issue. When you say the trunk is down, do you mean the interface is down ? Can you paste config of bad switch port and bad AP?

  • Nokia E72 WLAN Home Network Issues After SW Update...

    Hi,
I just updated my software recently to the most recent update, and until doing so, I was able to connect to my home WLAN network. Now that I've updated the software, when I try to access the internet from my network, I get an "Invalid server" error on my browser. I have attempted to delete the access point, but I don't know if this is the right idea, and, so far, it has not resolved the situation.
I can, however, still connect to my provider's internet services, and proceed as normal.
Can anybody help me with this issue?
    Thanks.

    @katelouise
Although you would need to backup essential data first, try resetting device to "Out of box" state by keying in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by user); satisfy yourself that WLAN access working before restoring contacts and messages, but you may need to avoid restoring "Settings"!

  • NAC Appliance + OOB Virtual Gateway Trunking issues

I have the following problem. When I connect the CAS eth0 to a trunk port in the core switch it disconnects from the CAM. When the port is in access mode, the CAM can connect to the CAS. The core switch is a 4500 with IOS 12.2(25)EW. What could be the problem?

    Hi prananth,
I managed to resolve the issue. It was a HA issue. I had configured "Link failure detect" on the redundant CAS app. Apparently the CAS couldnt reach the pingable IP causing failover to take place many times between the two boxes causing the CAS not to communicate with the CAM.
Kindly help me with the following problem I am now having:

  • Trunking issue

    Hi Everyone,
I just need a clarity on one issue. We have a scenario where we have 2 basestations with Cisco 2950 series switches. There is layer 2 connectivity on bridged mode in between the 2 basestations.
    a<--->b<---->NOC
The connectivity between b and NOC is also on layer 2 via bridged mode.
there is a requirement of trinking the ports that cross connect the switches thru wireless bridged mode.At the extreme most end at noc the port is in access-mode. The switch at NOC is extreme summit 48 si.
When i tried to make the port at switch b in trunk mode i lost the vty access.
Please suggest as to what an be the reason since a trunk port should also allow untagged traffic.

    Hi ER,
Trunk port bydefault allow only vlan 1 as native vlan which will be send across the trunk without tagging.
    Regards,
    Ankur

  • WCS - WLAN Scheduled task issue

I am using WCS to control our 5508 wireless appliance. We currently have 2 WLANS that are active..One of them is a guest WLAN that
I use 2 scheduled tasks. One task is to disable this WLAN every night after 6pm and the other task is used to re-enable the WLAN at 6am every morning.
When it works it works well. However over the last 2 months there has been at least 3 - 4 times where WCS does not re-enable this Guest WLAN..which of course causes ALOT of support calls to be placed.  I upgraded WCS to latest version..Any ideas on what could be causing this issue ?
    Cheers
    Dave

Thanks for the input everyone...I tried adding a 2nd re-enable task 10 mins later and that didnt work..So after doing a bit of looking around..I noticed I could view the history for each task and it shows me the success or failure with a description of why it failed..Looks like I am losing connectivity to the 5508 controller from the WCS server when the task tries to run. Right now I am trying to find out when the WCS server is being backed up..its possible that the backups are happening at the same time and are affecting this process.
    More to follow
    Cheers

  • SRW2048 Trunking issue

I have a string of switches trunked together, all the VLANS on the different switches work together fine. but the issue is with the management interfaces of any switch "downstream" of the srw2048, the map is Router---->Srw2048---->3750ps---->2960 each of these switches has the same 5 VLANS configured.
    The srw2048 is 192.168.1.254
    The 3750 is 192.168.1.252
    the 2960 is 192.168.1.250
I can get to the srw2048 management interface, but not the 3750 or 2960. If I connect a device to an access port on any switch, it is assigned an IP and functions properly on the network.
If I remove the swr2048 and just use the 3750 and 2960, the two hosts can talk fine, so I think I have a configuration problem on the srw2048. I have the uplunk from the srw2048 to the 3750 set as a Trunk and all VLAN membership.
Do I need to use the LAG function in the srw2048? I'm not sure what I'm missing here.

    Hi,
so the trunk 802.1q concept requires to have VLAN untagged with PVID and the other must be tagged. That should match on both ends.
General mode allows basically any settings. Basically all the packet with VLAN tag would be forwarded as per tag and those packets with no tag should be classified as per PVID. Perhaps the management VLAN on the other end of the trunk is not tagged...
can you tell me what are the detailed settings on both ends?
    such as 100T, 200T, 1P etc

  • TX WLAN/GPU Nvidia Issue

My laptop ran into the dreaded nvidia heat issues, and I applied the penny fix and she's now running again.
However, when I first booted up after the fix, my Broadcom WLAN NIC worked fine, but the next day, it was gone again.  I'm left wondering, since the card obviously was't burnt up b y the NVidia chip (since it worked for awhile), why the WLAN always suffer before the entire PC dies in all these NVidia chip cases?  It seems rather odd.  My only guess is that the NVidia chip also serves as the Northbridge in addition to the GPU, and thus when all the soldering starts to go, it's unable to accomodate the WLAN anymore.  I ask since since I didn't heat up the underside of the board like most tutorials advise, so I think the soldering is still poor in my case.  (in which case I;d have to do this fix again!) :\

The WLAN going out is usually a symptopm of the GPU issue. Most likely there is nothing wrong with your WLAN card and the fix just was not done properly. This happended to me the first time I applyed the fix also but It the reoccurance was not as fast as 1 day, I would recommend that you use the copper shim rather than the penny and if you don't have the tools or professional know how to do it on your own to take it to someone who works on motherboards. The cost for this repair is usually under $100 (/i would not pay more). There are also eBayers that provide the service and you can mail your board in if there is not anyone local to you who can do it for you. Make sure you check the feedback and go with someone reputable. I hope this helps

  • 4500X VSS Trunking issue

    Hi,
I am having an issue that the VSS is different for each switch and the trunking is not working, is there anyway to configure the trunking on the VSL port without breaking the VSS? I have set the trunking on both switches but somehow after the VSS connection is up the trunking is removed on the switch 2. The following are the snippet of the VSS configuration:
    Switch 1:
    interface Port-channel1
     description *** VSS Port-Channel 1 ***
     switchport
     switchport mode trunk
     switchport nonegotiate
     switch virtual link 1
    interface TenGigabitEthernet1/2/8
     description *** VSS Links ***
     switchport mode trunk
     switchport nonegotiate
     no lldp transmit
     no lldp receive
     no cdp enable
     channel-group 1 mode on
     service-policy output VSL-Queuing-Policy
    Switch 2:
    interface Port-channel2
     switchport
     switch virtual link 2
    interface TenGigabitEthernet2/2/8
     no lldp transmit
     no lldp receive
     no cdp enable
     channel-group 2 mode on
     service-policy output VSL-Queuing-Policy
Now I only have limited command on the Port-Channel 2:
    SWITCH01(config)#int po2
    SWITCH01(config-if)#?
    virtual link interface commands (restricted):
default         Set a command to its defaults
      description     Interface specific description
exit            Exit from virtual link interface configuration mode
load-interval   Specify interval for load calculation for an interface
      logging         Configure logging for interface
no              Negate a command or set its defaults
      service-policy  Configure CPL Service Policy
      shutdown        Shutdown the selected interface
      switch          Configure switch link
Thanks in advance for any helpful comment.

    Hi,
You don't need to configure the VSL link as trunk:
    just follow this config example:
    Switch-1(config)# interface port-channel 10
    Switch-1(config-if)# switch virtual link 1
Switch-1(config-if)# no shutdown (If the port is admin shutdown)
    Switch-1(config)# interface tenGigabitEthernet 5/1
    Switch-1(config-if)# channel-group 10 mode on
Switch-1(config-if)# no shutdown (If the port is admin shutdown)
    Switch-2(config)# interface port-channel 25
    Switch-2(config-if)# switch virtual link 2
Switch-2(config-if)# no shutdown (If the port is admin shutdown)
    Switch-2(config-if)# interface tenGigabitEthernet 5/2
    Switch-2(config-if)# channel-group 25 mode on
Switch-2(config-if)# no shutdown (If the port is admin shutdown)

  • GT70 0ND492 WLAN or Sbar issues

I have been having an issue with fn+f8 and radio buttons used to turn wifi on/off. Currently my wireless card is on and connecting, but it can't be turned off.
It also seems like the bluetooth refuses to be turned off as well. I have tried installing .NET 4.5, uninstalling and re-installing Sbar and the problem persists.
So far support has suggested that I return it for replacement, but if there is a solution for this problem I would rather fix it and not have to go through the hassle
of shipping this one back and then waiting on another one. I have been reading through other forum posts, but it seems most of those have to do with WLAN connection
issues or a card that will not turn on. My apologies if I've overlooked a topic that already exists on this issue.
Here are the relevant laptop specs that I can think of:
    GT70-OND492
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
    Processor: i7 3740
    GPU: nVidia 675mx
    WiFi card: Killer 1202
    BIOS: E1762IMS.50T
    EC Version: 1762EMS1 Ver5.03
    Thanks

Just an update here. I am now a very happy camper! The issue has been resolved successfully, the radio buttons as well as fn+f8 works as intended now.
For others who may be having or may have the same issue I will list what steps were taken to correct the problem.
    First: installed .NET 4.5
Second: uninstalled and then re-installed Sbar
    Third: Attempted to reset EC
Fourth: Flashed EC for Windows 7 w/ backlit keyboard
It seems that when the vendor installed Windows 7 the EC for Windows 8 remained. I cannot say for sure that the first through third steps did not also
play a part in the issue being resolved, but I believe it makes more sense that the wrong EC was the culprit all along.
Anyway thank you very much for the replies (speedy ones at that)
Hopefully anyone else that has this same issue will find this post helpful.

  • Vlan Trunking issue

    Hi,
I need some help setting up  L3 Cisco 3560 for my VM lab. I have setup a few vlans and at this point I am trying to test out routing and connectivity. I came across with two issues and I am trying to get good advise from the experst since I am not
The Cisco 3560 is directly connected to my home router gi0/4 192.168.10.0/24 which would be my internet connection. The home router default gateway is 192.168.10.1.
I created Vlan192 on the 3560 to interact with the home router and get me to the outside world from the core. Obviously I'm doing something wrong here and came across 2 issues.
1- I tried setting Fas0/2 as trunk port and using the vlan226 on my pc but it wont work when I set this to my computer. It wont route to all vlans and I am not able to ping this 10.23.226.9 address from the 3560. The only way this works for me is if I set the IP to the 192 range which is my native Vlan, but anything other from 192 wont route.
    PC IP address
    10.23.226.9
    255.255.255.0
    10.23.226.254
    Fas0/2 configurartion
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 192,224-229
    switchport mode trunk
Please see my entire config below and maybe you can help since I am not an expert on this.

    Glen,
Thanks for your advise. After changing the port as an access port I am able ping all vlans and my gateway from my home router 192.168.10.1, However a new issues came up. I am not able to get to the internet.
It seems it works from the 3560:
    zeus-sw1#ping yahoo.com
    Translating "yahoo.com"...domain server (255.255.255.255) [OK]
    Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 206.190.36.45, timeout is 2 seconds:
    Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 76/94/134 ms
    zeus-sw1#
It wont work from my pc:

  • WLAN AP group issue

    Hi all:
I just set up 10 vlan interface and 10 AP groups for each vlan by only One SSID.
But it's didn't work for me.All the client cannot get IP and even prompt a wep key enter .
I set up something as below :
1.set up AP group and assign vlan interface and SSID to each ap group
2.Assign the AP group to each AP i want.
3.Set up 1 SSID and use the managment interface.
I don't know what step i miss or anything wrong with me .
anyone have any ideal , please tell me .
    Thanks a lot!

  • N97 mini WLAN/Data access issue

Most of the time I will have WLAN access. So I do not want to pay extra for the data pack from AT&T. Just wonder if there is a way to turn off data access on my phone so the phone will used for phone call only, and not for data servies. TIA!

you can do this in 2 ways:
-if you don't want it anymore forever, you can openmenu = settings = connectivity = destinations = and delete intenet and wap access points except the WLAN access point ((leave MMS because you'll need it when recieving MMS))
** you can make the WLAN access point the first when you enter detinations = internet = choose the WLAN access point = options = organise change priority
-or, you  can go to menu = web = options = settings = general = access point = ask when needed
-you can show appreciation to my posts if it helped or useful by pressing the green Kudo star beside my post that hepled
