WLAN authenticaion issues

right noow we are trying to update the WLC for a WLAN to cisco 5508....
The current connection via WPA2 and RADIUS are inconveniences when the user password has been changed and the computer did not connect after the change, since the wireless card after sign goes up, and since there is no connection to the domain, the computer does not validate the new credentials and logs.
which should be the best connection pattern, considering the previously described disadvantage, so that it is avoided in a new solution?

  • E72 Wlan Wizard Issue: Icon/Selection disappeared ...

    Crossposted from here: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Eseries-and-Communicators/E72-Wlan-Wizard-Issue-Memory-Full-and-icon...
After my mobile phone automatically switched off while I was trying to check my SMS because of low battery, I plugged it to charger and switch it on again. Upon turning on however, the Wlan Wizard icon/selection has disappeared from start up screen/desktop. When I try to access Wlan Wizard by going Menu > Ctrl Panel > Connect > WLAN wiz., it gave me Memory Full error instead.
I've tried various method available that I can get from here: Turn off and on (it worked when the same issue happened a long time ago but not this time), deleting licenserserv.log to free up space in phone memory (still no Wlan Wiz and still Memory Full error after restart), going back to factory setting and restart but all to no avail.
Following the advice in the thread I posted before, I installed Nokia Suite and updated my E-72 with the latest software. I even try reinstalling for good measure. Still the same thing: no Wlan Wizard icon on desktop/home screen and Memory Full upon Menu > Ctrl Panel > Connect > WLAN wiz.
What else can I do to solve this issue? The attached picture is my phone info using Nokia Suite. Note the red highlight box. Is it supposed to be so?

You need to try the *#7370# reset. It should not touch anything on the memory card but you can remove it as a precaution. Do 2 backups, one with everything and the oter with only your data. Sometimes when you restore all the settings as well it brings bck the problem.
After the reset, try the phone to make sure everything is working fine before restoring your backup. If the problem comes back after the restore then reset again but this time use restore using the data only backup.

  • E51 WLAN Setup Issues

    Hi,
I know this has been discussed before, but after searching and trialing I've got nowhere.
Just got my E51 and trying to connect to my home wireless network. Appears to connect fine, try to start browsing, no data is transferred and eventually times out...
I've tried wizard setup and manual setup - both give the same results.
    Router (Netgear WGR614) setup:
    WPA-PSK security
    SSID visible
    Phone set-up
    Network status Public
    WLAN mode Infastructure
    WLAN security mode WPA/WPA2
    WPA2 security mode off
Think that's about it. Any solutions as to what causes this? I fear it's a firewall setting as allows connection but no data transfer. I disabled the SPI firewall on the router and that didn't help.
    Thanks for any help!

I don't know what exactly caused the problem, which consisted of not being able to connect my Nokia E51 to the WLAN Router but if the security settings were disabled. Whenever I tried to enable the security settings with WEP/WPA on my WLAN router, although the access point was duly detected, and apparently flawlessly listed, it would no longer be available when actually trying to connect, as it would return the error message "WLAN not found".
After reading a few things about security issues, (http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials/article.php/3672711, http://www.practicallynetworked.com/security/041207wpa_psk.htm) I decided that there is no way I could accept to connect to WLAN without security encryption.
By trial and error I managed to enable the security settings on the WLAN router AND successfully connect with Nokia E51 only after I did this:
    1) Changed the SSID to some very exotic new name, completely different from the previous default name (supplied by the manufacturer). I noticed that the default SSID had become a known access point (AP) to my nokia phone when the security was disabled. With security enabled, it no longer worked.
    2) Set up the wireless security to WPA authentication type, TKIP encryption, PKS.
    3) Chose a 15 (or more)-character-strong passphrase and set is up in the wireless router security settings.
    4) Had the WLAN assistant of my Nokia E51 update the AP list.
    5) Once listed as new, unknown SSID, I was able to set up from the phone my WLAN AP, via the OPTIONS tab where I was finally prompted for the passphrase. (Same prompt would NOT work unless SSID of a previously successful, unencrypted AP is changed)
The device resolved the connection which worked fine ever since.
I think that there is a bug with Nokia E51 which does not actually update the access point list and does not reload all of the details of a recently reconfigured AP which used to work fine with disabled security settings in the first place. The mobile phone can be forced to completely refresh the AP list (in Connection Manager> WLAN assistant) only if the SSID of the AP is renamed in the the router settings. It seems that only afterwards would the security handshake between the devices finally work out and establish a proper connection. There is definitely a bug with the Nokia E51 wlan manager!

  • WLAN proxy issue

    Hi to all,
I m using nokia 5800 XM.in my college we use wifi for internet connectivity as nokia 5800 xm supports WLAN so I like to use wifi on handset but problem is that wifi needs proxy setting like
    proxy server:172.16.0.7
    port:3128
and after that when I go to mobile default browser and type any URL it will then ask for user name and password which is set by administrator....But when I use any other application like ovi store or s/w update etc it will NOT ask for user name password.why?
Can any 1 help to solve this problem.

I tried to login to proxy using web browser and then run Ovi Store at the same time. NO SUCCESS. Ovi Store does not see http proxy settings of access point. This is a serious issue. I must not be forced to use expensive mobile connection in order to use Ovi Store application (which obviously uses http protocol). Waiting impatiently for this issue to be fixed.
P.S. Considering another platform at this moment.

  • Satellite P100-105L: WLan connection issues

    i have following problem.
have Satellite P100-105 notes, with XP home. All drivers up to date, connecting via WiFi.
When i connect to internet via IE7/IE6/Mozilla/Opera some times i have just message "waiting for reply from ....." in statusbar, and the page wont load.
If i refresh its ok, or at some pages it just dont work even if i refresh (typically on typo 3 saving document).
    1. i have no viruses, no trojans.
    2. tryed with IE without addons, allso with IE when i was in "safe mode" of XP.
    3. Downloaded latest WIFI drivers, latest bios.
    4. when i try it on other notes from toshiba, else model with win vista on IE7, it works normally. Allso when i upload/download huge files, its ok.
    5. have legal, and up to date windows XP with SP2
so i can say 4 things:
    1. its not caused by signal,
    2. its browsing soft independant.
    3. it may be not caused by HW error, if it would, large downloads/uploads will fail
    4. any other software it is in memory in normal state, its not causing this.
    SOMEBODY HELPPP
    its very, very annoying.

    >When i connect to internet via IE7/IE6/Mozilla/Opera some times i have just message "waiting for reply from ....." in statusbar, and the page wont load.
You said sometimes??? So I assume it does not happen every time while you are using the WLan.
    >4. When i try it on other notes from Toshiba, else model with win vista on IE7, it works normally. Also when i upload/download huge files, its ok.
The both notebooks use the same WLan card? If not then there could be a compatibility issue between the router and WLan card
But generally its not easy to say what the problem could be. Did you check of the same message appears using the LAN cable?
    Check this!

  • Satellite L450D-13U - WLan connections issues

    Hi,
I use talktalk as my internet provider.
I started to get a intermitent connection and the internet light on the router goes red.Its a d-link router.
3 weeks a vist from a bt tech they now tell me that the problem might be my laptop.
How could this be when it does connect and then drops the connection very iradic.

    Hi
You said that the router disconnects from internet. Right?
So how can be this notebook issue? Sorry but I dont understand this
In your case I would recommend checking the router settings.
You should check for the firmware update and should also check if other notebooks/computers connected to the same router would have the same problems.
If you are 100% sure that your router is OK, then you should check the notebooks WLan.
In such case its advisable to update WLan driver

  • Wlan connectivity issue with E71

    Hi,
I am trying to connect my E71 to my NETGEAR wireless DG834GT router and there is this consistent problem of E71 successfully loading the first page but hang on the subsequent clicks. I tried to disable the security setting on my router and it works perfectly.
However when i try to enable back my security with WPA-PSK preshared key, the problem arises. I notice that during creation of access point in E71, when i enter my password for the preshared key, the display always show 4 asterisks despite the fact that i have a 9 character password. Is this a bug with nokia e71 ? How am i going to resolve this ? Any help is deeply appreciated as my main reason for getting a E71 is to surf in wlan with security enabled.
    thanks and regards
    Andrew

    It was basically this:
"In response to your email, I would suggest trying the following steps to connect to WLAN:
    1. Menu > Web > Options > Settings > General > Access Point > Always Ask
    2. Select one of the available Bookmarks or open a web page of your choice
    3. When the phone prompts you to connect to a server, select "Yes"
    4. The phone will populate a list of Available Access Points
    5. Scroll and look for Search for WLAN
    6. Select your WLAN provider
    6. Key in any passwords or pass-keys required to authorize you to access the WLAN network
In the event the above-mentioned steps do not resolve the issue, I would suggest switching off any security features of your WLAN router and testing your phone once again or you may also test your phone with a free WLAN network service which is usually available at cafes.
Please take note that you would be required to contact your Internet Service Provider on the details which needs to be keyed in while creating the WLAN access point.
However, in the event that your phone does not work with a free WLAN service or after you disable the security features of your WLAN router, please take the phone to your nearest Nokia Care Point. They will assess if a repair is required and advise if this may be covered under the warranty."
I had already explained to them that all works ok without any security. With network security, no go.
I politely sent this back and have asked them (again.....) to escalate, which they have said they will now do. Please contact Nokia Care with the same issue as the more people that tell them, the more they will take it seriously, hopefully.
They will need your IMEI, software version (type *#0000# from home screen), product code (beneath battery) and details of your router.
    Cheers.

  • N91 WLAN Connection Issue

Sorry if this has already been answered but I can't find the answer.
I've got an N91 and I'm trying to connect to my private Wireless Router. I've got a 128 bit WEP key but when I try to type it into the phone, I'm only allowed to enter 13 characters. The key is twice this length.
How am I to enter the full key?
    Am I missing something here?
    Thanks in advance,
    P.

Well I use the N91 with WEP security using either Open or Shared key at 128 bit or 64 bit with no problems.
Remember that you need to use Tools->Settings->Connection and create a new access point.
    - In Data Bearer select WLAN
    - WLAN Network Name (ID) type in your WLAN hotspot name (SID)
    - Network status (Public or Hidden depending on your router settings)
    - Network mode (Must be Infrastructure)
    - Security Mode (Enter wither WEP or WPA) I only use WEP
    - Go into the Security Settings: Select the Key in use (#1 to #5 and it MUST be the same one as in your WLAN router)
    - Authentication type (Must be Open or Shared) Shared Key is more secure. This setting must match the one in your WLAN router!
    - Select WEP (or WPA) settings:
    - Select encryption type (64, 128 bits) again it must match your router settings
    - Select the type of Key in use (I use ASCII since it's easier for me to remember the keys) but it can be in HEX as well. Use the same thing as your router. Enter the key in the box below.
I've tested this in many WLAN networks in the office and at home and never had any problems. I've used all SW versions of N91 since the launch and it has always worked. If you have other questions let me know.
    One more thing.
When entering the WEP keys MAKE SURE that you enter the key in the right key number. Each WEP key ins in a different Tab (look below the connection name and you will see #1,#2,#3) use the joystick to select the right key (#2, #3, et c.) and enter the key (ASCII or HEX)
640K Should be enough for everybody

  • Cisco ISE Wlan airspace issue

    Dears,
I configured wifi user authenticate from ISE server. We have 2 SSID:  1) Guest  2) Corporate
When the wifi users connect corporate ssid it is normal wokring. But at this time when the users want to connect guest ssid it is not forward to registration page , the user access network and internet without registration( guest portal). When i disable corporate authorization profile in ISE server, the user can access the guest ssid normal it means that the the user register on guest portal and only access internet but at this time the we can not access corporate ssid ( the user can not access the corporate ssid).
    I attached the configuration file.
    Please help me.

So, if i am understanding this correctly, when you have the Policy Set "WLAN" enabled the guest SSID is not working but when you disable it the guest SSID starts to work. Is that correct?
If so, i would recommend that you create a new Policy Set for the guest SSID. You can match the condition based on the "WLAN-ID" That way you have a dedicated Policy Set for each SSID. This will keep things very clean and make troubleshooting much easier.

  • WLAN Card Issue Probook 4530s

I hope you all can help with an issue I am having. I do IT support for a school that ordered a ton of HP Probook 4530s laptops.
One of them has developed an issue. The user said that one day she had wifi and the next she simply didnt. I have ran every hardware and software test known to man. I have tried resetting the bios, I have tried un and reinstalling the drivers and the HP connection utility, I have tried EVERYTHING.
The wireless device simply does not show up. Not as disabled, not even in device manager.
I tried replacing it with the same model adapter and nothing changes.
I tried replacing it with a different model adapter. After that, when I started the computer and an HP error message popped up that said something like "The adapter you have installed is not supported by this computer." I would press enter (I think) to continue and then it would start like normal. Once it started, Windows didn't recognize that device. Not as unknown hardware or anything else.
Does this mean a bad motherboard? I just don't understand how the BIOS picked it up the replacement as an incompatible device but Windows wouldn't recognize it.
    Anybody have any suggestions?
Computer is running Windows 7 Pro x64 and is joined onto a domain.

    Hi:
You can only install a supported wireless card listed in the service manual and it must have the HP Part number on it or it will not work.
The only suggestion I can offer is to make sure you have the connection manager software installed and see if you can turn the card on using that software.
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...
I assume it is not something simple like the user inadvertently turned off the wireless button as shown in the illustration in chapter 2 on page 11, and identified on page 12?

    Dear Community,
i have a wlc 5500  with two ssids for employees and contractors
both ssids with layer2 security WPA+WPA2 and auth key mgmt 802.1x are authenticated with ACS 5.0 (active directory) for users access and are working fine after windows adapter setting
but my question is, can i do some thing like
authentication with acs 5.0 (active directory) for users access but without windows adapter seting????
i mean without changing any setting on windows adapter ( leave it as default).
if i can then how i can???
or i cann't do that i mean there is not any option to do that?
plz give me your seggustions i need urgent help on this topic.

    thanks for your reply George
it seems only for 802.1x authentication key methode needs windows adaptor changing as per you.
is there any other option to configure wlan scurity with acs (MS active Dir) user authentication like
    let me tell you something
i want when any client will try to connect any wlan he ll just prompted to use his username and password(of active directory) without doing any changes in window adapter setting???
i don't care layer 2 security will be whatever like wpa+wpa2 with 802.1x OR something else
can i do that or no ??
if yes i can than what type of security?
please don't tell me about webauthentication i already know about that and i ll use that mothed for GUSET-Wlan.

  • WLAN connections issues

My N97 won't stay connected to the WLAN connection. Owned me when i was trying to download something and it switched to GPRS and took all my credit without me noticing.... Anyone can help?

Sorry to hear that! However you can organise your access points mate! Select "always ask" in your web options. In that way, your mobile will always ask you how you want to connect, even if you lose connection to your WIFI!

  • WLAN switch issue when running WiFi for Satellite L550

My Toshiba L550 runs fine with a cable line connection but will NOT connect via WiFi (without the Ethernet cable)
The User Guide states that Wireless communications switch needs to be switched on
START>ALL PROGRAMS>Toshiba>Utilities>Toshiba HWSetup check the Wireless Communications switch setting to ON
I follow these instructions and the message is - Switch settings will be active next time you switch on.
Have followed this instruction time after time but "SWITCH" (firmware??) just rets to OFF
What can I do to set the switch permanently ON?
Very frustrating. Been trying for nearly a year. Supplier will only look at it if I pay them (Tottenham Court Road outlet). Will also need an expensive journeyb to London and leave itb with them for 2 weeks!!! Warranty nearly expired so urgent assistance needed. Still works fine with the Ethernet cable attached.
New machine - supplied with Windows Vista but UPGRADED with the official Windows 7 disk prior to making a Internet connection.
Any suggestions - other than a hammer?

Hi Tonny.Your reply looks as though it may be the answet of the r ... but ...
    Yes - I installewd the Toshiba upgrade to Windows 7 (which may be the problem) but I have two "novice" problems;
    1. The VAP was probably part of the pre-installedas software and I cannot find itv from a general "search" any extra guidance would be appreciated for this limited capability person.
    2. I would know how to find the Device Manager and sub sections on windows XP but cannot find how to do it with Windows & any clues for this novice.
Sorry my requests are so basic.

  • GT70 0ND492 WLAN or Sbar issues

I have been having an issue with fn+f8 and radio buttons used to turn wifi on/off. Currently my wireless card is on and connecting, but it can't be turned off.
It also seems like the bluetooth refuses to be turned off as well. I have tried installing .NET 4.5, uninstalling and re-installing Sbar and the problem persists.
So far support has suggested that I return it for replacement, but if there is a solution for this problem I would rather fix it and not have to go through the hassle
of shipping this one back and then waiting on another one. I have been reading through other forum posts, but it seems most of those have to do with WLAN connection
issues or a card that will not turn on. My apologies if I've overlooked a topic that already exists on this issue.
Here are the relevant laptop specs that I can think of:
    GT70-OND492
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
    Processor: i7 3740
    GPU: nVidia 675mx
    WiFi card: Killer 1202
    BIOS: E1762IMS.50T
    EC Version: 1762EMS1 Ver5.03
    Thanks

Just an update here. I am now a very happy camper! The issue has been resolved successfully, the radio buttons as well as fn+f8 works as intended now.
For others who may be having or may have the same issue I will list what steps were taken to correct the problem.
    First: installed .NET 4.5
Second: uninstalled and then re-installed Sbar
    Third: Attempted to reset EC
Fourth: Flashed EC for Windows 7 w/ backlit keyboard
It seems that when the vendor installed Windows 7 the EC for Windows 8 remained. I cannot say for sure that the first through third steps did not also
play a part in the issue being resolved, but I believe it makes more sense that the wrong EC was the culprit all along.
Anyway thank you very much for the replies (speedy ones at that)
Hopefully anyone else that has this same issue will find this post helpful.

  • Satellite M70-394: WLan does not work after wake up from standby

    Hi all....
I have a problem with my WLan connection and hope one of you may be able to help. Starting my computer from off there isn't a problem with the WIFI connection but if I put the computer into standby by closing the lid and then restarting it from there the light comes on briefly for wi fi but then goes off and the only way I can connect is through a cable.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

    Hi
I have read in the forum that some similar "Wlan standby" issues were fixed by BIOS update.
I think you should compare the BIOS version on the notebook with the BIOS which is available on the website. If there is a new update try to upgrade it
Be sure that you have chosen the right BIOS.
