hi everbody,
i have a big problem with my imac 24" middle-2007 model.
when i activate the wlan / aiport, he can´t found my wlan from my or neightbours router. maybe 2 wlan.
- channel change
- passphare type change
- reinstall of macosx
- macosx change (mavericks, mountain lion, lion, ...)
or anything not working , ....
but when i install windows over bootcamp. the wlan works fine on windows bootcamp.
- hardware isseus ruled out!
and now when i start / boot macosx again, the wlan works perfect.
why? mac os bug? kext / driver bug?
sorry for my bad english.

  • What a big prob with WLan - 5530

    Hai there.
My problem: With no reason my WLan disapeared. Yes, it is gone. When I try to acess it from the shortcut it says "System Error", and it is gone from the connectivity menu. Now I cannot acess any interne connections and my acess points are gone. Already tried the reset and the factory definitions. WLan is still gone. Searched on the internet and nothing. There's anything I can do? I used to use my internet connection a lot..
    Thanks.

Which resets have you tried? Did you try removing the battery and leaving it out for at least 5 minutes? Also no harm removing the memory card.

  • Satellite A505-S69803 - How to replace the Wlan card?

Before I go into the details of my problem.
I have rolled out a DSL product, set up hundreds of wireless routers. I was a notebook service tech for 3 years for laptops as well.
I picked up a toshiba cause the price is right, and so far I am learning you get what you pay for.
This machine has a realtek wireless card.
As everyone knows.. Realtek == cheaply made bad hardware.
Toshiba refuses to replace this card.
I need to buy a new card for this laptop.
    I need to know if this is a mini-pci, half height mini-pci, a pci-e, or mini-pci-e card.
I plan on getting an intel for it.
I also need the whitepapers so I can remove the wrist pad / bezel on this unit. They have users guides, but unlike other notebook manufacturers, do not have their service manuals available.
Any assistance to get this laptop fixed would be appreciated. It is leaving town with my parents soon.

    hi vlad2,
realtek is also known to run perfekt under linux - this indicates that the hardware isnt so bad as you think...
toshiba sells the unit as specified - if you wanna have some other hardware choose another notebook modell or replace the wlan by yourself...
if unsure what card is in it , open the door under which the card is located - for an notebook tech pro like you no big thing - and check it.
replacing this piece should be easy...
to answer your complaint: +"Toshiba refuses to replace this card."+
sure this! if it works there is no need to replace and you will get allways the same as spare because this modell comes with it...
i dont like it to repeat me but a notebook technician should be able to disassemble this machine (you will ruin your warranty with this action)
disassembling the covers is a service partner thing - not for customers...
by the way: +"I am learning you get what you pay for"+ means what you see is what you get, spending some extra money is not bad at all...
you cant get a mercedes for the price of a little car...
and whats your technical problem with the wlan?

  • Tecra S3 - Wlan does not work after Win XP installation

    Hello everyone,
I have recently purchased a Tecra S3 PTS30E-0TL059GH without operating system.
    I've installed WIndows XP professional.
Everything works, except for the wireless lan. I can switch it on, but it doesn't seem to find the right drivers.
The device manager states problems with the networkcontroller and two other unknown devices.
I've installed all drivers from the toshiba website, but it still won't work.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hi
I think the notebook supports INTEL 802.11 B/G WLan card but I'm not 100% sure about that...
In my opinion you should try to identify the WLan module.
    How to do that?
In such case the usage of the PCI database should be very helpful.
    More details here:
[How to identify an unknown device (e.g. Wireless LAN module)?|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=78]
Knowing the exact WLan specs, it should not be a big deal to get the right driver.

  • After updating the iOS from 4.2.1 to 4.3.3 the WLAN connection to a Win7 Hotspot (Connectify) is no longer working in the sence that UPnP Apps like PlugPlayer can connect to a Media Server (Twonky) on the Win7 PC in a stable way. What to do?

I created a backup of the iPod in iTunes before updating to iOS 4.33 but after the update I can not restore. The backup is no longer shown in iTunes. I think iOS 4.3.3 has some differences in handling WLAN due to the Hot Spot capability for the iPone 4 which might cause these problems.
Please help. The only use of my iPod touch is to remote control my media network. And exactly that is no longer working the way it was before the update!
    Best Regards,
    Gerd

Now this has two direct effects - firstly it has increased the 3g usage for data and secondly it causes 'blips' with the ability to connect to previously working wifi connections.

We have identified that 4.2.1 in the iPhone 4 has WPA2 key length issues.
Although I have seen posts about the problem WPA2 key length problem, I am using an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2.1 and have no problems connecting to my WiFi that uses WPA2 AES with a key that is over 20 characters.

There is also one other school of thought that we have which is to do with the increased battery performance on the iPhones. It looks as though the iPhone drops WiFi when it goes to sleep (ie: when it is turned off in normal mode).
An iPhone will maintain a WiFi connection when in sleep mode if it is connected to a power source.
I have no doubt that many users are experiencing problems with their iPhones. I just feel lucky that I haven't experienced any big issues with mine.

  • Client got not connection to wlan over wlc 2504 on 802.11b/g

    Hi everybody,
We are using a wlc 2504 with 7.6.100.0 and AP 1532e.
I have the strange observacion that only clients with 802.11n (2.4GHz) can connect to the WLAN. Clients thats works only with 802.11b/g, they can't connect to the WLAN. Affected are all machines which want to connect with 802.11b/g.
This is a MESH WLAN with 5GHz backhaul and 2.4GHz for the user.

    Thanks for any advice

In some of the big name brands of wireless, there is "no such thing" as 802.11n on a 2.4 Ghz.  No such thing because Cisco won't allow you (any more) to do channel bonding of 2.4 Ghz.  It doesn't make any sense to bond an already restricted 2.4 Ghz non-overlapping channel (three) and squeeze this number down to two.
Can you check to ensure that the data rates for 802.11b are enabled?  Maybe someone disabled data rates from 1 Mbps to 11 Mbps.

  • Solved: Can't get Dell WLAN card to work

    Hi,
Thet computer in question is a Dell XPS 1520. It incorporates a Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card (supposedly working with bcm43xx).

I tried following the wiki on bcm43xx, copied the fwcutted firmware files to /lib/firmware , rebooted, loaded bmc43xx module, but nothing. Nothing on iwconfig or dmesg...
    Any ideas?

  • E-Mail in iOS 7.0.2 with massive problems sending big e-mails

    Dear all,
i have massive problems in sending e-mails with attachments using iOS 7.0.2 on an iPhone 5s using iCloud E-Mail services.
If i try to send more than one photo done with the iPhone, it is just sending and sending, but after an endless time nothing got sent. Even if i am connected via WLAN to a fast VDSL connection, sending of big e-mails (somewhat about 4 or 5 MB) does not work.
Additionally the push e-mail is not working correctly (located in Germany) and the time plan for receiving e-mails does not work sufficient either. I just have download e-mails manually.
Does anyone else have this problem with sending bigger e-Mails?

    Hello gnutellabrot

  • Fragmentation problem with Wlan Controler 4402 due to LWAPP header overhead

    Hello there,
    I have following situation.
    network---wlan controller4402----FW1---MPLS---FW2---Access points----networks
I can see very big amount of fragmented packets coming to FW2 and getting dropped in one moment. After those packets get dropped, access points get disconnected
I wonder, is there any documentation, or maybe some of you guys can give me some tip/trick how to set up WLC4402 to use TCP MSS, PMTU or any other settings that can help that IP Datagrams between 4402 and access points don't go over 1300B
Thanks a lot for any help
    Regards
    Milos

    Hello,
    Thanks for your response.
I'm a bit confused watching this document you gave me. I don't know which part of it can be related to prevention of IP Fragments between controller and AP-s.
Problem is that controller is located on one side of the network, and we have FW (non cisco), MPLS network, other FW and then APs
other FW across MPLS receive a lot of fragments, which of course should be defragmented for session inspection, so this leads to large CPU utilization and fragment drops.
If we can instruct controller to set MSS bits or to be involved in PMTU, then we could try to prevent end hosts to ever create large TCP/UDP segments/datagrams to be sent via LWAPP tunnel
    Thanks for any advice
    Cheers
    Milos

  • Wlan connection slow

    Hi,
since a few days I have big problems with the WLAN-connection of my late 2011 13" Macbook Pro that leads to very slow Intenet Connections and Slow SMB-Server access.
In Detail: If I will open a Webpage it will take 50 times longer then from my iPad or Windows PC; and I run an Windows 2012 Server as an Data Pool, if I will access to any Remote Hard disk the Mac will need 5-10 sec. to load a Folder (the Windows PC loads it directly after the "klick").
Intristingly, If I am connected via LAN (T-based 1000 Mbit Gigabit Ethernet) everything works extremly fast.
Does anybody have a Idea to Solve this Problem? I run Mountain Lion in the latest Version, nothing has changed the System since or before the Error occured.
    Thanks....

  • MacBook Pro and WLAN beamer

    Hi everybody,
I am planning to buy a new beamer, for example the Panasonic PT-LB55NTE. It offers the possibility to hook up to WLAN. The VGA-cable would therefore be unnecessary. Would be a big improvement to have fewer cables and their limitations.
Has anybody had experience with connecting a Mac via WLAN to a beamer? Is it fast enough? Do films display well? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and Happy Holidays,
    Norbert

check that your 3rd party plug-ins have UB version written for them - otherwise they won't work on the new intel macs.

  • Best authentication method for controlling DEVICE access to wlan

    Hello,
I have a similar question to this thread ( https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3927713 ) but I'm interested about device control on top of user control. Just like that thread, we are using WPA2-AES Enterprise with PEAP MSCHAPv2, which allow users to log on with their domain credentials. We wanted something simple for our users, so MSCHAPv2 with "single sign on" was optimal to us.
Problem is, we have a new requirement and we need to implement it yesterday. We would like to allow only mobile devices and computers of our choice.
Since we are using MSCHAPv2 which allow every domain user to connect using any device as long as their domain credentials are valid, is there a simple way to control this ?
I guess we could go with MAC filtering, but we have about a thousand laptops. Not a big problem, we could do a regular MAC address inventory using SCCM. It's just that it looks like a brute force tactic to a simple problem. Would a Cisco ACE 4.1 RADIUS server tolerate well a MAC address table with a thousand entries ? What if it goes to two thousands ? Would this be easy to implement ? I'm a bit new to this, is there some documentation I could follow ?
How do people usually do this in an elegant way ? How do you manage and control WLAN access to thousands of device ? I guess they go with TLS with certificates ?
    Thank you very much !
    Konnan

    Konnan,
    Just saw your PM:)
Would it be possible to configure Access policies even if our Radius servers aren't joined to the domain ?
    > I really don't know... typically all my installs have the radius server joined to the domain.  I don't know what limitations you would have using the setup you currently are using.
Still wondering if it would be a good path for us, because of the computer authentication issue where it happens only at logon in Windows if I read correctly and our users don't have the habit to log off frequently and we use only manual connection mode when the user already has his session open. I guess MAR will have to be set to a stupid high value... if it even works.
    > Well you need to sit down with everyone who is involved and really think out what works best for you.  Machine authentication works well, but then people wonder what happens if someone logs in that isn't authorized and that because the computer is a domain computer it automatically gets on the network.  Well your not going to get everything you want:)  So PEAP has issue because IT wants to limit the user to only be able to access using a company owned device... well, then ISE is your fix.  You can add a certificate that ISE can see and if that device has that or a registry value and the user is allowed to access the network, the authentication is allowed, or else it will not be.  EAP-TLS... well more work since you need a PKI infrastructure and both the radius and the clients need a cert...
No matter what, you need to decide what works best and don't over complicate it with adding mac filter, etc.
I'm wondering if EAP-TLS wouldn't be better for the long term, maybe with MAC Address restriction on the short term...
    > See above
I'm also wondering if we could stay with PEAP MSCHAPv2 but use an NPS Radius server from Microsoft which allow to use complex policies instead of the Cisco ACS Radius server...
    > You need to know how to setup and configure the policies... either one will work, but if your on ACS 4.x, I would look at upgrading to 5.4.  ISE is replacing ACS as far as the radius portion, but tacacs isn't yet available on ISE.
There's also the Cisco ISE, which seems to be equivalent to Microsoft NPS... a bit more costly OTOH.
    > ISE allows you to profile devices so you know what device is accessing your network.  Again, ISE is replacing ACS as far as the radius, but tacacs will soon be out and available for ISE.  If you really want to create crazy profiles, then ISE is the way to go.  You can specify that this user group is allowed wireless, but it has to be a domain computer.  The user isn't allowed access if its not a domain computer.  The same user group is allowed access with company iPads (certificate installed), but not have access with personal iPads, tablets or smartphones.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Guest wlan design questions

I need to setup a guest wlan on a single 5508 controller. Currently all of my ap's are in h-reap mode and all in remote buildings connected via a high speed wireless wan.
The guest network could consist of 500 users in the near future, so i'm wondering what is the best way to configure the guest wlan so I don't have one big broadcast domain across my entire network?

Ok. I already have my ap's in ap groups (per building) and I have different vlans in each building with the same ssid company wide. I'm doing this via h-reap.
My question is how do I accomplish the same thing with the guest wlan, but without h-reap. Or do i use h-reap and just setup acl's to block the traffic? But then does web authentication work the same?
The confusion for me comes in at the controller level with the guest-wlan interface I created having to be attached to a vlan. Is this not needed to do web authentication?
    Thanks,
    Dan.

  • WLAN Security or Misconfiguration problem?? Please Help!

    Hello Gurus,
I have a very strange problem and can use some direction on what exactly to do.
Our setup is a little bit over board I thought but it was cost affective. Our set up currently is we have 3 SSIDs being multi casted from 6 AP's (aironet 1200 series) they are being controlled by a Cisco 4400 series Wlan controller. 1 SSID is for our Cisco Wireless Phones, the Other Private, and Public for Patrons.
The Patron SSID uses a Raius Server to authenticate through a device called WAM (its a D-link hot spot gateway) that uses our production server to authenticate through. Patrons connect to the SSID, redirected to web page, put in Card information and password. The problem is that when they connect they will sometimes drop connection BUT most of the time what happens is they connect go to IE and it pulls up error page could not display. Also, some can connect and are fine. This has been driving me crazy and here is the big problems i have found. I brought up some software that i used with my company in the past to my new job called laptop analyzer pro. I ran a scan and checked the Wyse report and found that the error packets where to do with an association table being to full and the clients where being told that they are not allowed to connect due to the table association overflow. Later I found out that the WLAN controller is Web based so I logged into to there to find out some additional information. I checked the monitoring and there where reports of several rogues AP's and one happened to be one that I picked up with the analyzer that was actually a spoofer (MAC Address). I also checked the test on the Radios, you know the test that tells if they pass on the Load Profile and etc. Turns out that 4/6 of the AP's failed the Load Profile test???? We only do about 370+ patrons a month but this does not tell us how many times a single patron connects. Any ideas on what I need to do? If you need additoinal information let me know because our patron are taking the brunt of this and this is a free service we provide because we are a library. Thanks in Advance to any help.

This sounds like my old Laptop with built in wireless never worked reliably, plug in my Cisco or lucent card and it all worked. Finally got a new driver that worked for the builtin wireless and it finaly worked.
Had the same problem with a consumer AP and USB WIFI radio, did not work reliably until I updated both to latest software.

  • Voice over WLAN - Cisco 2504 and iPhones/Androids

    All:
I'm working on a solution for someone who already has a Cisco WLC 2504 running 7.6.100 and 2602i APs.  They are running iPhones with a SIP application instead of purchasing Cisco 7925G phones.  They are having issues when roaming to different APs.
Site survey is good.  I also used a laptop with Net Surveyor on it - signal looks good.  SNR is good.  They used to have coverage issues as well but I got that taken care of for them.  Only issue now is roaming.
    WLAN SSID:
    -Qos: Platinum
    -FT-PSK and PSK enabled
    802.11a/n/ac Radio:
-Client Roaming: -67dBm for RSSI threshold and -62dBm for scanning threshold.
-Disabled 6mbps and 9mbps and 12 mbps is set to mandatory.  All others are supported
    802.11b/g/n Radio:
-Client Roaming: -67dBm for RSSI threshold and -62dBm for scanning threshold.
-Disabled 1mbps - 12mbps.  18mbps set to mandatory.  All others are supported
Switch to which WLC is connected:
-switch ports used to connect to the controller are set to trust CoS and ports to APs and uplinks are set to trust DSCP.
With these setting changes - I believe most everything else is default.  I am confused about the following:
    -Best practice link - http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/technology/vowlan/troubleshooting/vowlan_troubleshoot/2_Gen_Troubleshooting_Guidelines.html
Says to configure voice WLAN to use 802.11a.  Issues with that: Some Android's could not connect AND the big one - I am not able to set Qos to use 802.1p for the SIP WLAN.  It tells me to disable 802.11a and 802.11b.  If I go into each radio on 'Network' tab and disable these - NOTHING can connect to any SSID.  So unless I've misunderstood something - this is a contradiction in the best-practice link I posted above.
another question:  If I enable FT-PSK and PSK - for devices that support FT-PSK (which i'm under the impression is 802.11r) will these devices use that and for devices that don't they'll use 'regular' PSK?  How do I know if my client is connecting using PSK or FT-PSK as both are enabled on the same WLAN.
Again - only issue is roaming.  I second or two of 'choppy' voice then everything is back to normal working as expected.  Any ideas as to what else I can enable to get these iPhones to roam better - if this is even possible.  Can iPhones roam using a SIP app with zero voice interruption?  This is the equipment that they got and can't get anything else so I got to make the best of this.  Perhaps I've already done that?  Any ideas/suggestions are very much appreciated.

    Hi
Before any other think  I would like you to upgrade your WLC image to 7.6.130.0 & FUS to 1.9.0.0. FUS upgrade will require 30-40min downtime to your wireless.

    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn76mr03.html
It tells me to disable 802.11a and 802.11b. If I go into each radio on 'Network' tab and disable these - NOTHING can connect to any SSID. So unless I've misunderstood something - this is a contradiction in the best-practice link I posted above,
This simply says, you have to disable radio band before changing QoS profile values. Once you change those value you can re-enable the radio band. :)
If I enable FT-PSK and PSK - for devices that support FT-PSK (which i'm under the impression is 802.11r) will these devices use that and for devices that don't they'll use 'regular' PSK? How do I know if my client is connecting using PSK or FT-PSK as both are enabled on the same WLAN.
Read these 802.11r post & you will understand how 802.11r works. There are certain client devices does not like PSK & FT-PSK capability advertise on the same SSID & may have connectivity issues. But most of the clients like iPhone, iPads, etc  will connect without any problems.

"show client detail <mac_address>" should indicate if client connected over FT-PSK or PSK.
