WLAN Clients not browsing on Cisco Wireless Controller WLC NME-AIR-WLC12-K9
HiI have a question and i need a solution and expert help.I have done a deployment which involves Security (ASA5540), Routing/voice gateway/wlc NME-AIR-WLC12-k9) and Switching (Cisco3845-ccme/k9)Below is the list of equipment used:1. Cisco ASA 5540 - which is connected at the edge to the ISP router
2. Core Switch WS-C4948E as core and DHCP Server for all VLANs
3. Access/Distribution Switches WS-C3560G-48PS-S connected as trunk to the core switch
4. Router/Voice Gateway/WLC Cisco3845-CCME/K9 - This is the voice gateway and also the WLC
5. Wireless APs AIR-LAP1242AG-E-K9 (12 qty)Here is the deployment scenario:1. G0/0 of the ASA is connected to a 7200 router from the ISP (Public IP Add)
2. G0/1 of the ASA is connected to gig 1/3 on the Core Switch on VLAN 2 which is the management VLAN (Local IP 10.1.1.2)
3. Port 3 of the Core switch is on vlan 2 connected to ASA - Management IP of Core Switch is 10.1.1.1. Core Switch is the DHCP Server for all VLANS on the network.
4. All the Access/Distribution switches are configured with IP Addresses on VLAN 2
5. Telephony Services is configured on the router and DHCP Pool for Access Points and Wireless Clients is running on the router.
6. Two DHCP pools were created on the router for APs and Wireless Clients.
7. G0/0 of the router is configured on the same network that issues dhcp ip to the AP and is connected to gig 1/1 on the core switch
8 G0/1 of the router is configured as the voice port for the IP Telephony Services and is connected to G 1/2 on the core switch1. Clients receiving DHCP IP on the Core Switch can communicate with all vlans and can browse to the Internet.
2. IP Telephony Services is running well.
3. Client on wireless can get IP from the DHCP on the router but cannot browse.I have pings from the router to the core switch and firewall, but clients connected to the wireless
cannot ping other vlans on the core switch and vice versa. The port connecting the router to the core switch is an Access Port, i have changed to to trunk but still no changes. My biggest problem now is how to make the clients on the wireless communicate with other clients on the network and be able to browse to the Internet.Below is the configs on the router and core switch.Router ConfigNimc_Voice_Router#sh run

I wouldn't configure an ip address on the service engine subinterface.
Try setting up a vlan interface on the router with that ip address and the subinterface will be linked to the vlan interface through the encapsulation command. A vlan interface will better work as a gateway for the wireless clients

VLAN assignment without ACS on Cisco Wireless Controller 5508
I was wondering if it is possible to do dynamic VLAN assignment on the Cisco Wireless Controller 5508 without using Cisco ACS but use Microsoft NPS server instead? Is there a manual or article that someone can point me in the right direction?
Thank you!Any RADIUS server will allow you to do the dynamic vlan assignment if you configure the right RADIUS attributes (64, 65 and 81 that Steve mentioned above).
This doc shows example of dynamic vlan assignment with WLC and ACS.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a008076317c.shtml
Same config on WLC is needed. However, on the RADIUS you need to configure the same attributes on the NPS instead.

Cisco wireless controller 4400
Hey all,
I was wondering does the Cisco Wireless controller 4400 come with any management software such as the Cisco Wireless Controller system software?
regards,
MarkWCS doesn't come with your WLC purchase you can down load a trial version of WCS from Cisco site. I think it is a 15 or 30 day trial.
You would have to purchase a license to run a full blown WCS. You can get this in either Linux or Windows.
Hope this helps you.
You can find info on this at:

Syslog on Cisco Wireless Controller
Hi everyone
I have question about syslog on wireless controller. I need to know what is information in the syslog from controller. I had read paper in the community some siad it has not much in the syslog but it has not detial what is the information in the syslog sent. I know that almost information such as client, authentication, and much benefit logging in the SNMP. So, anyone have any idea or information please give me the idea or information.
Thanks
VYou just need to setup the sylog and try different logging levels to see if it gives you the information you need. YOu might not get what you want or if you find a syslog level that gives you the info you want, you might get a lot of stuff you don't want to see.

MacBook Pro will not connect to Cisco Wireless Network
I have just bought a brand new MacBook Pro, running Leopard (OSX 10.5.1) and I just cannot get it to connect to the Wireless Network at my workplace.
The MBP connects to wireless network and authenticates just fine, but will not obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
The wireless network consists of 16 Cisco Aironet 1200 Access Points controlled by a Cisco Wireless Network Controller. It does not broadcast its SSID and is WEP 128-bit hex protected.
Changing the network from WEP to WPA is out of the question for me as this is under the control of my customers IT Department and they do not have any problems with their PCs connecting to the network. It appears to be an Apple issue.
For reference, my old Vaio PC, my Nokia N95 and my iPod Touch ALL connect to the same wireless network without any problems whatsoever, first time, every time!
If I boot into Windows XP from my Boot Camp partition, XP can connect wirelessly to the network without any problems, so it is not MacBook hardware related...
It has to be a bug in Mac OSX... doesn't it?!?
Things I have already tried (following suggestions on many forums):
* Switching Airport off/on
* Deleting various network-related Plist files and rebooting
* Manually assigning an IP Address (not really permitted but doesn't work anyway!)
* Disabling all network adaptors except Airport
AP Grapher shows that the MBP is connected to the wireless network, at good strength, and packets are being sent and received, but Internet Access is not possible as no IP Address has been assigned. Instead, my MBP shows a 169.* IP Address (self-assigned). It should be a 10.1.255.* address.
Can anybody please help? Thank you.i posted this same reply elsewhere because it worked for me for my Buffalo wireless router: try manually setting your IP address instead of relying on DHCP, which sometimes (I don't know why) doesn't work well with Macs. It's a good get around. I am a happy Mac user but nothing is perfect on earth, and when the Mac gives problems, it does give a lot of frustration. Macs are not as easy to troubleshoot as Win because a Mac is built to be user friendly(and it works most of the time), meaning a lot of the background computing stuff is hidden away from users to avoid user accidentally upsetting some settings.
Unfortunately, the highly automated troubleshooting wizards provided by OS X are not perfect so when these software wizards fail to resolve the problem, like my Network Diagnostics, I have to spend more time tinkering around. There's "Terminal" of course but then most of us, especially PC converts to Macs, don't know how to use it.
You should also try updating your MBP, see if there are any new updates being released. -

Mobile users cnnewcity_mobile: Use webportal certification, so the center certification, local forwarding
Computer users cnnewcity_wifi: transparent certification, local forwarding, local authentication
The basic steps are as follows:
1, set the Radius server clients (AP or controller)

Wireless Network is slow after putting cisco wireless controller
Hello Guys,
My wireless network was very good before putting Cisco WLC 4402 with version 3.2.171.6.
In my network there are two SSID's one for official and another for guest, which is working one single LAP 1142.( Total 12 LWAP is here)
we decided to manage all the ap and deployed WLC but now wireless network is very slow, local gateways is pinging with 80 ms. before WLC it was 1 ms.
Pls. suggest or come up with question to reach a solution.

Accessing cisco wireless controller
Hi All
I have a cisco 5500 WLC that was decommissioned and is now going to be put back on the network.
I have the old IP of 10.1.2.210/24 which it was part of. I put my laptop on the same network 10.1.2.10
I access the gui whilst connected to the SP on both http & https I cannot access the browser and I cannot ping the box.
When I plug it in to one of the ports that requires an SFP. I can then ping it but still cant access it via the gui.
Can anyone help ?
ThanksHow did you configure those ports? LAG any VLAN tagging or untagged?
You can try to connect a computer and the WLC to a switch first and then try accessing it. -
IPhone will not sync with Cisco Wireless Access Point
This is unbelievable, i just bought a $1000 phone and it wont sync with a Cisco AP. I can sync it with a DLINK? I there a specific list of Access Points it will connect to. If so thats complete bullsh*(. Also, is there going to be a firmware update soon to fix these problems. Can you tell that im a little upset. I just saying that if someone spends $1000 dollars on a phone it should be working pretty dam good. Anyway can someone offer any suggestions?
Upset Iphone user. After spending time on the phone with a Apple support technician, he indicated that the Iphone has a compatibility problem with the wep key encryption that the Cisco appliance uses. I find this disturbing being that Cisco is the biggest in network gear. What's UP Apple? We need SP1 for the IPHONE!!!

Hi!
I try to configure a Cisco 5508 Wireless controller and 25 Air-lap1041 to use as VoIP and data. I read documents, manuals, etc, but the AP doesn't charge the configuration, or not conect with the Wireless Controller, why? No Radius server present, only WPA security.howto, please...
I try to put a static ip in the LAP, with lwapp or capwap command, (LWAPP/CAPWAP ap ip address direccion mascara) and the AP returns "You should configure Domain and Name Server from controller CLI/GUI." and i can't change the name of the AP (Command is disabled).

Hola:
I buy a gigabit switch. I connect the service-port to gigabit switch, and laptop to gigabit switch. I used 192.168.1.x ip address (192.168.1.157 to service-port and 192.168.1.233 to wired port on laptop, well, the laptop has two ip adress, 192.168.1.233 and 209.165.200.2, and the laptop works ok. Ping to 209.165.200.230 -ip address of management interface- and ping to 209.165.200.203 -ip address for AP, is assigned by DHCP of WLC. And i connect the ap to gigabit switch, and the wlc assigns well an ip direction.
I post the run-config and sysinfo log. The gigabit switch is tp-link model tl-sg1005d, no configuration.
Before the logs, I see this message from AP:
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4 ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?
Hola:
He comprado un switch gigabit.
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4 ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?
Un saludo
Antonio R.

I have attached show run-config and show running-configFor the public WLAN, what is 10.1.1.1? Is it a real DHCP server, is it a FW? If it's a FW, then you'll need to disable dhcp proxy:
CLI config dhcp proxy disable
GUI Controller > Advanced > DHCp, and uncheck the box for proxy.
As for all of your other SSID, they are all pointd at the management interface. Double check the WLAN config, and point them to the interface you want the user to get an IP address in.
HTH,
Steve

Cisco 5508 Wireless Controller with Splash Page Disclaimer
How do one configure a splash disclaimer page on a Cisco Wireless Controller 5508 with no authentication?
JimmyThere are many options to you in this scenario, but if you're looking to simply provide a splash page via the WLC without interacting with any other web servers, you can configure Local Web Authentication (LWA) as seen in this configuration example.
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wlan-security/69340-web-auth-config.html?referring_site=RE&pos=1&page=http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wlan-security/71881-ext-web-auth-wlc.html
If you are not wanting the authentication, you can choose the "passthrough" method which will not require any credentials, only accepting an AUP or whatever you want. -
