WLAN Controller 4012, update firmware

Hi Pushkar
Hi, I have an airespace 4012 and due to a mistake on the update it  caused that the equipment doesn't boot.
I didn't take any copy of the firmware, where can i take this old  version from (version 2.0.142.0)? or is it possible to bring it to the last version of WLC.
Best Regards

  • WLAN Controller 2504 Update?

    Hello guys,
I want upgrade my controller  2504 to 7.4 or 7.5 and use Application Visibility and Control.
    Manufacturer's Name.............................. Cisco Systems Inc.
    Product Name..................................... Cisco Controller
    Product Version.................................. 7.0.220.0
    Bootloader Version............................... 1.0.16
    Field Recovery Image Version..................... 1.0.0
    Firmware Version................................. PIC 16.0
Ps All my AP's are local
    So here my doubts:
    1: What version recommends 7.4 or 7.5
2: What I need to upgrade first, Code or FUS 1.8?
    Best Regards

.. yes either way would work.
Regarding the image, it is your preference. If you look at the download page you would see special lable "Assure Wave" on 7.4MR1 indicating cisco assured that code for stability. Not all software code get this sorts of recommendation
Reg 7.5, people will move onto 7.6 soon as it mainly released for 3600 with 11ac module support. When 3700 AP comes to market WLC 7.6 code is required. So someone does not want to go for 802.11ac staying 7.4MR1 or (MR2 to be released soon) would be a good choice.

  • WLAN Controller 4402 - Port HA Fails

We have a WLAN Controller 4402, with firmware version 4.0.206.0. The ports are connected to 2 separate switches. 'ap-manager' is on port 1, and 'ap-manager 2' is on port 2. The wireless network is running fine when both ports are connected. However, when I disconnect port 1, the client be disassociated, then re-associated, but unable to grab DHCP IP address. I have also assigned a static IP address on the client, but is unable to ping anywhere, not even the gateway. From what I understand, the ports should be able to backup each other in case of failure, but the HA does not seem to work. What could be wrong?

Let me make sure I understand something about this bug your referring to. In order to see if this might be affecting us I would want to change my controllers ap-manager interface gateway address from that of the hsrp address, to one of the actual ip addresses setup on the router right?
I think this might be the problem with my rollout. Seems like ever so often everyone looses their wireless connection. you can be working one minute perfect signal and everything, then without moving or anything boom your disconnected. Just recently converted every AP to WCS/WLC and then this started happening.
My concern is that I have two VLANs setup for my wireless with HSRP. One VLAN for all my AP's and ap-manager interface and such. One VLAN for wireless clients.
Both VLANs setup on the core 6509's with the standby IP as the default gateway.
Wondering if the problem is only related to the vlan for ap-manager interface? Are maybe I need to do the same for the wireless lan interface for the clients?

  • Data flow using a WLAN controller

Can someone explain the flow of data from wireless client to some destination in the internal network (or the Internet) using a WLAN Controller? Use a 4402 as an example.
Specifically, I am wondering if client traffic actually passes thru the WLAN Controller (4402). I am reading the configuration guide and it doesn't seem to be explicitly stated one way or the other.

    Hi Ken,
This is a very common question these days.
Here is a recent thread as well as an excerpt from a good doc:
    http://forum.cisco.com/eforum/servlet/NetProf?page=netprof&forum=Wireless%20-%20Mobility&topic=Getting%20Started%20with%20Wireless&CommCmd=MB%3Fcmd%3Ddisplay_location%26location%3D.1ddaca5d
In the Cisco Centralized WLAN architecture, LWAPP-enabled access points operate in the lightweight mode (as opposed to the autonomous mode). The access points associate to a Cisco WLAN controller. The controller manages the configuration, firmware, and control transactions such as 802.1x authentication. In addition, all wireless traffic is tunneled through the controller.
LWAPP is an IETF draft protocol that defines the control messaging for setup and path authentication and run-time operations. LWAPP also defines the tunneling mechanism for data traffic.
In an LWAPP environment, a Cisco Aironet LWAPP-enabled access point discovers a controller by using LWAPP discovery mechanisms and then sends it an LWAPP join request. The controller sends the access point an LWAPP join response allowing the access point to join the controller. When the access point is joined, the controller downloads its software if the versions on the access point and controller do not match.
LWAPP secures the control communication between the access point and controller by means of a secure key distribution, utilizing X.509 certificates on both the access point and controller.

    Hope this helps!

  • SSD's which are OK for updating firmware on a Mac?

I'm looking at a couple SSD's for a MacPro, any thoughts on which are OK with updating firmware on a Mac? Probably better to ask now before I need to..
Crucial M500 or Samsung 840 Pro?  I'm assuming that OWC's offerings are probably the best for Mac compatiblity, any others?
    thanks in advance.

Firstly there is a near identical question about setup of just days ago that hopefully you found and looked at in your research.
System on SSD / scratch for CS6 / projects
Lloyd's blog is full of tips: http://www.macperformanceguide.com
Start with what SSD (single) then get into multiple and setup and apps and how they are used, which really might be first thing to ask?
The Pro uses highest quality but both have much of the same controller and firmware - and it was just reviewed as to what the diference is. Find and read that.
Rick over on MacGurus setup an old working model for PS: a scratch disk + working project files is the fastest - was done with SCSI and then the first 10K SATA Raptor. Probably still holds true.
No you are not limited - I strongly suggest you set it up on Sonnet Tempo Pro RAID card and then use one 250GB 840 to start with, then add 2nd. Use one of the PCIe slots for your SSD(s). Maybe start with a 500GB.
Maybe use JBOD to combine two but not in RAID0.
The system can go on SATA II drive bay or optical bay.
Is there a one size fits all or to say this is the only way? of course not, you can though test and try and work with your budget, your Mac and move SSD to  where it does the most good.
Samsung starts mass producing PCIe SSDs with 1400MB/s read speeds
When the new MacBook Air got the teardown treatment... a new SSD.
The new drive is known as the XP941 and Samsung will offer it in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB configurations. It achieves read speeds of 1,400MB/s, which clocks it at 2.5x faster than a SATA SSD. It also only weighs 6 grams and measures 80 x 22mm. Samsung claims it only takes up a 7th of the space occupied by a typical 2.5-inch SSD.

    Samsung 840 Pro and Samsung 840 Solid State Drives Reviewhttp://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/storage/display/samsung-840-pro.html  [06/07/13 | Storage ]
Samsung currently offers very interesting solid state drives. Some boast outstanding performance, others – are built with inexpensive TLC NAND and come with a very appealing price tag. And our tests prove all of this: we are ready to discuss what we saw when we got our hands on a Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB and Samsung 840 250 GB drives.
From last September, StorageReview article 840 vs 840 Pro - they were my favorite review site for storage for years.
    http://www.storagereview.com/samsung_ssd_840_pro_review
    Second only to TechReport
    http://techreport.com/review/23990/samsung-840-pro-series-ssd-reviewed
X-bitlabs is also one of my popular stops and they look at Sandisk
    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/storage/display/sandisk-ultra-plus.html
I am sold on Samsung though and feel the 840 will do fine for me, but I would use $$ to get Sonnet Tempo SSD or Pro from OWC.

  • Problem Wlan Controller 5508

    Friends,
I have a problem authenticate with AP AIR-LAP1131AG-AK9 to Wlan Controller 5508 (software versión of the Wlan Controller6.0.202.0 ). This AP always tries to authenticate with Wlan Controller. Maybe it tries to download the ios version.
    Could be a hardware problem.
I am going to attach the log file.
    Thank.

Looks like a great case for TAC.
This is an HREAP AP?   It looks like it is associated fine with the WLC (no logs indicating it is trying) but instead it looks like Client Associations are breaking because it thinks it is up to 256 AIDs.....?
Maybe this is a common error, but it hasn't cross my path before...

  • WLan controller 2112 and LAP1042n Access Point issue

    Hello,
I recently purchased a 2112 Wlan controller an a number of LAP1042n Ap's.  The AP's will not associate to the controller and the message I receive in the console of the AP is that the firmware AIR-WLC2100-K9-6-0-199-4.aes  does not support this model?  Can someone please verify this is the case?
Will firmware AIR-WLC2100-K9-7-0-98-0.aes  overcome this issue?

"This software is not supported on your system."
    please help me thanks

OK, so the firmware is the same as mine, and yet Apple Support offered this EFI and SMC update packages, which should give a message that our computers are updated.
However, the update packages fail to run.
Did Apple neglect to give the correct update for the mid-2012 issue of MacBook Pro 13-inch?  I have the i7 Intel processor, instead of the i5, and I was sold this unit as having two processors, but the System info only lists a single processor.
Is one of the problems with Intel-based MacBook Pro units that the integration wasn't without bugs that cause processor hang when running the OS Lion, even with updates to 10.7.5?
Shouldn't the EFI and SMC updaters run on these machines as stated in the Apple Support article?
What will Apple do for these customers?

  • How to install OS 9.2.1 on G3 with no OS; says needs updated firmware, how?

I am trying to install OS 9.2.1 in an old G3 which at present has no OS in it.
The screen says it needs updated firmware to do so. When I try to follow instructions, it tells me the CD is locked, which is obvious since it is an installation CD. Other instructions seem to assume there is already an older OS in the machine to update. Anyone with an idea of how to break this log jam?
    [email protected]

    Hi wmarina !
Welcome to the Discussions, and Happy Thanksgiving!
The only G3 that will give you a Firmware Update warning when trying to install OS 9, is a Blue & White G3 tower.......
If that's what you have, then getting OS 9 onto it is a bit of a Catch-22, Can o' Worms, P.I.T.A., or whatever other favorite sayings you may have for a difficult job........
"Other instructions seem to assume there is already an older OS in the machine to update."
Very astute observation, and 100% correct.
The OS that is assumed to be on the B&W's drive is MINIMUM 8.5.1, and therein lies the Catch-22.....
A BOOTABLE 8.5.1 Install CD is NOT available as a RETAIL CD........
The Retail CD is 8.5 install, with the 8.5.1 UPDATER, which is also on the CD.......
The 2nd part of this problem is that the Firmware Updater (which is on the OS9.1 CD) MUST be run from the booted Hard Drive with 8.5.1 on it.........
    Your options are:
    1. Find a set of the ORIGINAL SOFTWARE CDs that shipped with a Blue & White G3, and install the original OS from there.........
    2. Do what I had to do. Take out the Hard Drive and move it to an older Mac (i.e. Beige), and install OS 8.5 on it, and update it to 8.5.1, take the Hard Drive out and re-install it into the B&W again, boot to it, and do the Firmware update at that time.........
Note that NO Mac can boot to an EARLIER version OS than it shipped with when new, which is why you will have to use a beige to install 8.5.1 to that hard drive........
As a secondary note, to avoid more problems, get a new Pram battery (1/2 AA 3.6V).
    Available at any Radio Shack.
    Good Luck !

  • Communication between : AP and WLAN controller

    Hi,
The communication between AP and WLAN Controller is ( Data and Control ) UDP.
Source port 1024 and destination port 12222 and 12223. Actually which device listen to which port or both should listen as control and data can be generated from both the devices.
How does the user ( wireless client) traffic is switched - if user traffic is a TCP traffic. It will be sent to WLANC and then WLANC forwards it to respective VLAN or default gateway ( depending upon the destination in the packet ).
Please explain / share the experience.
    any link on cisco.com
    Thanka in advance
    Subodh

"the LWAPP Control and Data messages are encapsulated in UDP packets that are carried over the IP network. The only requirement is established IP connectivity between the access points and the WLC. The LWAPP tunnel uses the access point's IP address and the WLC's AP Manager interface IP address as endpoints. The AP Manager interface is explained in further detail in the
implementation section. On the access point side, both LWAPP Control and Data messages use an ephemeral port that is derived from a hash of the access point MAC address as the UDP port. On the WLC side, LWAPP Data messages always use UDP port 12222. On the WLC side, LWAPP Control messages always use UDP port 12223.
The mechanics and sequencing of Layer 3 LWAPP are similar to Layer 2 LWAPP except that the packets are carried in UDP packets instead of being encapsulated in Ethernet frames."

What are you using to tell the AP where the contoller lives ? Since you are consoled into the ap you can use the -> capwap ap controller ip address
This will point the ap to your controller

  • Can not update firmware on Officejet Pro 8610

Can't update firmware on Officejet Pro 8610, Hp update site shows available firmware update needed, disabled firewall, shut off wireless, run program, window for update appears, but checkbox greyed out. I've talked to HP Tech, He was positive newer firmware was available, I've tried starting in safe mode w/networking, disabled, MS Security essentials turned off, etc. Have Dell Dimension, excellent running, Windows 7 Home Premium, Xfinity cable network modem (very fast), I'm getting frustrated.
Does anybody have a suggestion? Thanks, Jim
