Wlan controller and branch office AP (vlan config)

Hi,
Our wlan controller is located in HQ office and we have APs in branch office. Is it possible to implement two different SSIDs and they should be in two different vlans? So should we configure the AP trunk?
REAP does not support IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging. As such, it does not support multiple VLANs. Traffic from all the service set identifiers (SSID) terminates on the same subnet, but H-REAP supports IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging. Traffic from each SSID can be segmented to a unique VLAN.
Thanks

Hello,
As per your query i can suggest you the following solution-
Yes, it possible to implement two different SSIDs and they can be in two different vlans.

  • Head office and branch office accounts

    HI sap gurus,
can any explain the configuration steps for head office and branch office accounts in vendor and customer master accounts and how to post an invoice in this configuration
    Regards,
    Umesh

I am assuming u are using SD integration for the billing . Therefore, please go to VD02 for the Child Customer profile under the correct sales org, distbn channel, div.
Then under the Partner functions tab set the SP Sold to party as the Child, BP Bill to Party as Parent,PY Payer as Parent and SH Ship to party as Child.
If its only for FI documents config then proceed in FD02 only, else if its integrated then use XD02.
Then under the Company code data in the Account management Tab set the Head office as the Parent . Then all the future postings will have Acct = Parent but Branch = Child.
If you want some examples which we have discussed before then go to
Re: Customer Master -- Parent + Child Relationship
Link between Branch Accounts and Head Office Account
To link branch accounts to a head office account, you must enter the number of the head office account in the Head office field in the branch account master record. This field is contained in the company code area of the master record.
The head office account can be any vendor account except one-time accounts or branch accounts themselves. Branch accounts and head office accounts must belong to the same company code.
    Line Item Display
When you are entering the parameters for line item display, you should note the following: for head office accounts, enter the key 004 in the field Sort key. This instructs the system to display the line items for the head office account sorted by branch. This key is defined in the table for allocation rules.
For more information on line item display and the Sort key field, see Sorting Line Items
    Correspondence
You can set up your system to cater for written correspondence with vendors a) for the head office, broken down per branch or b) for each branch individually. If you want to create correspondence (such as dunning notices and account statements) for the individual branches instead of the head office, you have to select the Local processing field in the vendor master record of the head office on the Create Customer: Correspondence screen.
You can also define payment methods in the master records of the branches and head offices. For example, if you want to have certain payment methods for particular branches, enter these in the master records of the branches concerned and do not enter any payment method in the head office master record. If you enter payment methods in both head office and branch master records, all payment methods are possible.

  • WLAN Controller and Location appliance graceful shutdown?

Does anyone know if there is a supported graceful shutdown method/command for the
4400 series WLAN Controller and 2700 Location Appliances?
This weekend our server room will be undergoing maintenance and will experience a total power outage for a 4 hour period.  It is our intent to manually bring all equipment down (hopefully in a graceful manner) and then back up once the maintenance is completed.  As a result does anyone know if special precaution is needed to shutdown these 2 appliances, or can we simply bring down these devices hard which is the case with most other Cisco equipment?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Mark,
Channel 1, 6, and 11 are just about as non-overlapping as 1, 7, and 13. There's an insignificant amount of overlap, so it's just as plausible of a solution, even in Europe. I honestly don't know why you wouldn't use the extra channels to eliminate the minor overlap - every bit helps.
The "channel blanket" or "virtual cell" WLAN design philosophy is rapidly spreading. Cisco maintains that it's a standards violation and I've heard no talk of them purchasing the not-to-be-named company or of them adopting the same design philosophy. I sincerely hope that they do one of the two soon, however, because it's very good design that's difficult for Cisco to compete against.

  • Recommended Design for WAAS in both Data center and Branch Offices

    Hi All,
I need to purchase different appliances for WAAS, but before I decide what to purchase, I need to know exactly how I am going to put these devices so that I can know which one to purchase and how the designs will be.
    My environment is as follows:
I have two core routers (ASR 1000 series) at Data center, two 6509 switches (expecting to insert the ACE module, and FW module) and the I have access switches which connects servers.
At the branch offices, I am expecting to place ASR1000 series also.
Now, I need to know the recommended designs for these WAAS appliances so that, I can know in advance what to purchase(i.e. how many WAAS CM, Core WAE, and Edge WAE).
Any input will highly be appreciated.
    Thanks,

If you purchase the Standard Edition, your license supports:
One installation of Cisco Security Manager on one Windows-based server.
The configuration or management of 5 devices (in the Standard-5 option) or 25 devices (in the Standard-25 option). This excludes Catalyst 6500 and 7600 Series devices and their associated service modules.
If you purchase either the Standard-5 or Standard-25 license, you cannot purchase an incremental device license. Your license is fixed at either 5 or 25 devices.

  • Wlan Controller and NOKIA e66 problem

Hi all I want to ask some questions: I'mexperiencing these serious problem: when i place a voip call with E66 the voice is seriously chopped.
With 7921 the voice is ok.
I'm using: WLC 4402 (vers 4.2.207.0) nokia Call Connector 1.60 on nokia e66, UCM 6.1. I used the same configuration of the WLAN of 7921 as QoS and other specification.
The encryption is WPA (I tried with CCKM+tkip+LEAP as the 7921 work but i have also LEAP authentication problem but is not the most important thing now).
I don't know what to do.
    Can somebody help me?
    Thanks for your support

    Hi,
I upgraded to PR3 only my personal Phone and i made the tests with my e66.
    I disabled the 802.11b network.
The problem is very evident when i place a call nokia<->7921.
calls nokia<->other cisco phone (non wifi) is acceptable but not very good.
If I make a call using nokia<->PSTN lines is ok (It is quite like other phone).
If I disable CAC the situation is the same
I don't know if it is a roaming problem or other problems.

  • Centralised Controller and Branch AP

    Hi,
I have recently came across a requirement where customer wants to setup a wireless in its 10 retail stores. After site survey we came to know each store needs 20-25 AP to provide coverage. so total number of access points across setup would be 200-250. Each store connected to centerlised datacenter through 512 kbps of MPLS link. Can I use 1 WLC controller at Datacenter to control 250 AP spread across 10 stores?

Each store connected to centerlised datacenter through 512 kbps of MPLS link. Can I use 1 WLC controller at Datacenter to control 250 AP spread across 10 stores?
You can use WLC 5508 with 300 AP licenses (100+100+100) or the newer Flex 7500 since you'll mostly use HREAP.

  • Head Office and Branch

    Hi all,
In AP - Using Head office and Branch Office scenario, payment is made to Head office and this payment clears the line item in Branch accounts (Branch vendor code / account number) also.
The question is my client wants the payment to be made to Individual Branch accounts and not to Vendor Head office .
In other words, when we go to transaction code F-53, branch accounts (vendor branch code / accounts) are not showing the open items to pay for. My client wants the transaction code F-53 to show the open items and wants to make payment  to Branch and the clearing document should reflect in Branch Vendors code / account.
    Please can anyone help

  • Does user traffic pass through Controller and Aironet 1030?

    Hi All,
I want to beat out some questions that I cannot find exactly guideline in Cisco. I intend to implement 2 Airespace 2000 controller and some 1010s and one 1030 to my main office and branch office. At present, there is a 512kbps WAN link between this two office. So I don't want to let the traffic within the branch office to pass through the WAN link. Therefore, I intend to use the solution that 1 controller stay in main office to serve the 1010s in main office and 1 controller stay in remote office to serve the 1010s in remote office. But the remote site only needs 1 AP, thus I would like to use one 1030 to stay in branch office and 2 controller stay in main office to perform controller's redundancy. I would like to know Does the clients' traffic pass through the link between 1030 and controller as the same as 1010? I does very confuse whether 1030 has this feature because I found some blur instruction of 1030 in Cisco.
Further, if I place one of the controller in remote office, how can I control the APs in remote office to choose the local controller instead of the controller in main office using Layer 3 discovery method? Does any know? Thanks!
    Jason,
    best regards,

    Hi Jason,
    Hopefully this info will clear this up for you;
    Q. Can I install an access point (AP) at a remote office and install a Cisco WLC at my headquarters? Does the Lightweight AP Protocol (LWAPP) work over a WAN?
    A. Yes, you can have the WLCs across the WAN from the APs. LWAPP works over a WAN. Use Remote Edge AP (REAP) mode. REAP allows the control of an AP by a remote controller that is connected via a WAN link. Traffic is bridged onto the LAN link locally, which avoids the need to unnecessarily send local traffic over the WAN link. This is precisely one of the greatest advantages of having WLCs in your wireless network.
Note: Not all lightweight APs support REAP. For example, the 1030 AP supports REAP, but the 1010 and 1020 AP do not support REAP. Before you plan to implement REAP, check to determine if the APs support it. Cisco IOS Software APs that have been converted to LWAPP do not support REAP.
    Q. I want to set up the Cisco 1030 Lightweight Access Point (AP) with a Cisco WLC in Remote Edge AP (REAP) mode. In this mode, is all wireless traffic tunneled back to the WLC? Additionally, if the AP cannot contact the WLC, what happens to the wireless clients?
    A. The 1030 AP tunnels all WLC traffic (control and management traffic) to the WLC via Lightweight AP Protocol (LWAPP). All data traffic stays local to the AP. The 1030 REAP can only reside on a single subnet because it cannot perform IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging. As such, traffic on each service set identifier (SSID) terminates on the same subnet on the wired network. So, while wireless traffic may be segmented over the air between SSIDs, user traffic is not separated on the wired side. Access to local network resources is maintained throughout WAN outages.
At times of WAN link outage, all WLANs except the first is decommissioned. Therefore, use WLAN 1 as the primary WLAN and plan security policies accordingly. Cisco recommends that you use a local authentication/encryption method, such as the Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) Pre-Shared Key (WPA-PSK), on this first WLAN.
Note: Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) suffices, but this method is not recommended because of known security vulnerabilities.
If you use WPA-PSK (or WEP), properly configured users are still able to gain access to local network resources even when the WAN link is down.

  • Cisco LWAP & WLAN Controller Flexconnect Across HP Switches

Hello All, I'm looking for a little guidance in making the needed routing and switching configuration changes on our Corporate Network to accomadate flex connect functionality for Cisco Lightweight Access Points (LWAPs).  The LWAPs that are currently configured on our network only work when our WLAN Controller is up and running and I need for them to be disconnectable so that we can move the WLAN Controller to our virtual co-lo.  It should be known that I inhereted this network from the previous admin and have been working hard to map everything out to the best of my ability.  Also, the WLAN controller is already operating in our production network so it limits my ability to do much testing.
Just FYI, I'm a new Systems Admin promoted from a Desktop Support role and have my CCENT (Currently working on CCNA & MCITP Server Admin) so I have some knowledge but it is limited on the networking and switching side of things.  Unfortunately, the Senior Systems Admin has even less knowledge of networking than me and I don't really have anyone to turn to which is why I'm posting here.  I would have utilized GNS to help me simulate the configuration however there are HP switches in the mix and no means of emulating them.

(COSW239) HP1810G-24 - No IP (Inaccesible but being replaced)
I will now go on to explain our network topology as it pertains to the WAPs and WLAN Controller and how I believe it needs to be configured in order to operate from my perspective.
Our Corporate and Guest Wireless Access is provided via the Sonicwall CONSA251 through a connection from the X0 interface to HP Switch COSW239 which is then connected to WLAN Controller CO-WLAN-CTRLER as detailed below:
    Device - Interface Name/Port
    CONSA251 - X0
    COSW239  - 2
    COSW239  - 18,19
    CO-WLAN-CTRLER - 2,3
The WLAN Controller currently communicates with all the LWAPs via Layer 3 TCP\IP as I understand it and then routes all DHCP requests and traffic destine for the 10.1.101.1 (corporate WLAN) and 192.168.1.1 (Guest WLAN) to the Sonicwall and vice versa.
Now what I am trying to do is VLAN the LWAP CORP-AP-MIS across the HP Switches to the X0 interface on the Sonicwall NSA240 where it will be able to route traffic via VLAN 20 & 30.  The problem lies in my inexperience with HP VLAN configurations and how the ports need to be configured on each device so it can route traffic to the Sonicwall when the WLAN Controller is shutdown.
The LWAP CORP-AP-MIS layer 2 trace to the WLAN Controller is as shown below:
    Device - Interface Name/Port
    CORP-AP-MIS -  FA/0
    COSW238     - 16
    COSW238     - 25
    COSW240     - B4
    COSW240     - H6
    CORT250     - GigabitEthernet0/0
    CORT250     - Se1/0
    CONSA251    - X0
Now for all intesive purposes the Corporate Router CORT250 should probably be handling the routing for our Corporate and Guest Wireless network however that was not the way it was originally setup and I have to work with what was inhereted.  The Corporate Router CORT250 has a default route to the Sonicwall and the Sonicwall CONSA251 has all the routing already in place for the Corporate & Guest WLANs.
What I would like to do is VLAN off the X0-V20&V30 accross multiple switches and switchports to each LWAP in our building.  I do have the LWAP I'm testing on configured with Flex Connect which I understand is required for it to be disconnectable.
Any guidance on how I would go about configuring this accross devices would be appreciated.  I know there are some difference between HP and Cisco Switching terms and how tagging, untagging, and trunking works however I lack the experience to apply this in practice especially in a production environment.
I will be happy to provide any additional information or clarification that is needed.  Thank you in advance for the help.

Just to add about the ISE... you can profile, but having only one ssid might or might not work in your situation.  Also if you end up with remote sites or ap's in h-reap mode, currently ISE cant do any profiling.  If you go with the 7500 or 5508/WiSM2, they don't really do an active-active or active backup. They are both up and you can split the load or put all ap's on one, its up to you.  I usually split the load just to make sure both are working.  I don't want to all of a sudden loose the primary and then find out my secondary/backup is not working.

  • Virtual WLAN Controller Guest Anchor

We are planning a WLAN upgrade and the security policy is to forward wireless Guest user traffic to the DMZ controllers. We are now considering the Virtual WLAN Controller and all AP's will register with the virtual controllers and we will use Flexconnect for Staff and internal traffic that will switch their traffic onto the local switch.
We wish to forward the guest traffic to the DMZ Guest Anchor controller which will be a 5508 controller. This will also offer Office Extend AP service.
I have looked at teh virtual controller docs and not very clear if this deployment model is supported. Below is a diagram of what we wish to deploy and can anyone advise if thsi is a supprted deployment model.

Well you can use the vWLC to anchor to a 5508, but not the other way around. So if you use the DMZ 5508 for OfficeExtend, you will not be able to anchor the traffic back to the inside. Cisco doesn't support reverse anchoring for a Remote-LAN in OfficeExtend and requires you to actually have the OfficeExtend AP's connect to an inside WLC. In v7.0.x you were able to do this reverse anchor, but it was removed on later codes.

  • Install windows server 2012 DC on Branch office

    Hi ALL,
i am planning to install a secondary DC on our branch office where currently they are on different domain and forest. our head office is currently on windows server 2008 R2 std, where forest and domain functional level are on windows server 2003. our headoffice
domain name is:- (corpoffice.org) and branch office domain is:- ssl (its a single level domain on windows server 2003).
am thinking to upgrade our headoffice DC to windows server 2012 r2 and the same i wanted to do for branch office as well.
i need some guidance how to proceed with this DC setup as both vlan network is different and all the client settings are different. am getting few query like
    1. should i upgrade my headoffice DC first before i setup the branch office DC.
    2. how the branch office client will communicate to new DC.
any suggestion and guidance would really helpful.
    Thanks
    srini

    Hi
You will need to make sure all the ports are open for traffic to move between both DC's. Also need to check that you dont have replication problems, IE, slow link. First step would be to see if you can ping the HO DC from the branch, then once you have established
that you have all the ports open and your VLAN is routing traffic correctly then you can start with your DC setup.
You can first upgrade your DC, look at this blog:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2013/09/25/upgrading-domain-controllers-to-windows-server-2012-r2.aspx

  • Branch office installation of Oracle 8i Lite

I have developed a Java application using Oracle 8i Lite. I know, how to extract a required datbase file and supporitng run time files using deploy utility for stand alone machine. Thus, i can zip and send those file by email or thru web server to the client for installation on stand alone machine.
Since we can not use the Web to GO server, we want to send the Branch office database and its run time files (Only required files for running and not for developing) for server as well as for client to work in the LAN in the same manner as how deployed on stand alone machine without sending the Oracle lite CD and without using the Web to GO server.
In short, we want to install the Branch office Database machine files and Branch office client files by sending only required files in email without using web to go server and without sending Oracle lite CD.
Advance thanks for your valuable reply.

  • Branch office PSTN call routing

Customer had HQ and Branch office with 512 MPLS line, in HQ alone they had E1 trunk, in branch office for calling PSTN the call should travel via MPLS to HQ, and the branch PSTN call terminated in HQ only,   is it a good design or better we need to add ISDN line in branch level to terminate the PSTN call.

    Balamurugan:
    1) I think it is possible. My R&S skills are oxidized but you can have MPLS VPN configured and use frame-relay as a serial encapsulation where you will be able to configure RTP header compression.
    2) RSVP over MPLS: yes. But as Marwashawi said, I prefer to work with the LLQ QOS for voice traffic. For that you will need to agree that with your service provider.
