WLAN Guest Acces login Page Http vs Https

Hello,
today i had made some Tests with the Guest Access Feature on an WLC 4402 Release 4.2.
During the Test i have noticed that the Login Page only opens when i use a http Adress. By using a https Adress the login Page was not shown. Is this a normal behavior?
Thank you and best Regards

It might be that you have http:// enabled for admin access to your controller. Make the admin access https:// only, and your guest web auth page will also be https://

  • WLC 2504 Guest Wifi login Page

    Hi
Need some help. I have setup guest access on the controller and this is not working at the moment.
DHCP server setup on the controller for the Guest users.
You are able to connect (get ip address from controller) and the browser gets redirected to 1.1.1.1 but then page can not be displayed instead of the login page.
Need to know how to fix this.
    Regards
    Chris

    George:
    Thank you for the ratiing.
For this issue, they are getting the web-page and after providing the credentials it is redirecting to the original page.
If there is no DNS available so how the host will resolve the URL IP in order to open the web-page?
This is why I suggested to check DNS.
From the link I posted above I quote:
...........The next step in the process is DNS  resolution of the URL in the web browser. When a WLAN client connects to  a WLAN configured for web authentication, the client obtains an IP  address from the DHCP server. The user opens a web browser and enters a  website address. The client then performs the DNS resolution to obtain  the IP address of the website. Now, when the client tries to reach the  website, the WLC intercepts the HTTP Get session of the client and  redirects the user to the web authentication login page. Therefore, ensure that the client is able to perform DNS resolution for the redirection to work. On Windows, choose Start > Run, enter CMD in order to open a command window, and do a “nslookup www.cisco.com" and see if the IP address comes back. ........
If you are using a URL for the virutal interface then lack of DNS will not show you the credentials page at the first place.
If no URL for virutal interface and you get auth page but after entering the credentials it does not successfully redirect one of the main reasons is DNS problem.
You can still comment on this if you see it not accurate.

  • E4200 Guest SSID Login page fails

    Config:
Netgear ProSafe Gigabit Router is my DHCP Server -- The entire home net work is on the same subnet (192.168.15.xxx)
Linksys E4200 configured as an access point ONLY -- wired connection -- static IP assigned -- DHCP server turned off
Linksys WRT610N configured as an access point ONLY  -- wired connection -- static IP assigned -- DHCP server turned off
    3 -- 5 port gigabit switches
    1 -- 8 port gigabit switch
No more than two switches between any two wired devices
Both Linksys access points have the same SSID and WPA2 security phrase -- total of 4 radios
Nonoverlapping channels are selected on both the 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz radio to minimize interference
All computers are running Windows 7 Professional 64bit with all the latest updates
Two iPhones and one iPad also access the network
All LAN and WAN connectivity is working as designed
    Problem:
    guest SSID is turned on
    password is established
All devices will connect to the guest SSID and the E4200 is assigning an ip address to the device in the 192.168.33.xxx range which is what it's supposed to do.
When I open a web browser, I am not automatically redirected to the Cisco Login Page. If I enter 192.168.33.1 as the URL, the login screen is presented. I enter the password I have created in the guest admin page on the wireless guest tab.  I then see a blank page and a URL of 192.168.33.1/guestnetwork.asp. THIS IS WHERE I GET STUCK. THE ONLY WAY TO EVER SEE THE LOGIN PAGE AGAIN IS TO REBOOT THE E4200, otherwise you just get unable to connect messages when opening web browsers and the wireless status icon in the system tray shows a yellow exclamation mark.
I successfully connect to the guest SSID but I do not get access to the internet. When I type ipconfig, I see that the DNS is set to 192.168.33.1 which does not exist on my network. I assume there's some internal NAT magic that is supposed to happen in the E4200 to bridge me over to my 192.168.15.xxx network but it doesn't seem to be happening.
At the beginning of the call I specifically asked them if the E4200 must be the DHCP server in order for the guest SSID feature to work and they said no. 1.5 hours later they had no answers so they told me that it wasn't working because the E4200 was not the DHCP server. The documentation says nothing about a DHCP requirement for guest AP service. Linksys support further could not answer what you would do if you needed more than one AP with guest service enabled.
It seems like this is a firmware issue but it may be the guest SSID service requires the E4200 to also act as the DHCP server. Can anyone shed any light on whether this is a bug or if the router/AP is working as designed?
    Thanks,
(Mod note: Edited for guideline compliance.)

Yes the E4200 must have DHCP turned on in order to pass out IP's to your Guest Network.  No DHCP, no Guest Network.

  • WLC 2504 - French characters for guest web login page

    Good day,
I have recently installed a WLC 2504 and I have the following issue:
When I modify the text for the web login page (Under security/Web Auth/Web Auth page), if I use french caracters such as (é, è, à, etc...) in the message body, it does not show up correctly on users computers. As we're a bilingual country, I must put a bilingual text message. Are there any settings or workaround out there to rectify this?
    We're on version 7.2.103.0
    Thanks,
    Eric

Thanks Scott, I'll have a look at the documentation.
Right after sending this post, I tried typing the actual HTML code for the character instead and it seems to be working. I'm curious about custom webauth page, we may be able to customize it more than we thought we could do.
    Cheers,
    Eric

  • No Guest web Login Page

I have setup an E1000 with no errors. Using a Win7 laptop, I can access both connections. Using  XP laptops people cannot use my guest account. They connect but the Cisco welcome screen asking for the password never displays. What am I doing wrong?

With an E1500 and the guest account enabled: when guest (using MAC) connects to the Guest account, no login screen pops up after opening Safari. There is a message of "can't  access server" (or something like that).
Have checked the Guest account settings and they appear correct.
The same MAC machine can access the secure account without a problem. Have also tried using an iTouch, same results.
These device do get an IP address assigned (192.168.33.xx) but we do not see a DNS or GW assignment. I assume the DNS/GW addresses don't get assigned till the password is entered, correct?

  • Session timeouts for login page with in a html frame

Hi, i have a login page which when the session times out gets redisplayed within the frame of the html page where the session timed out , i have tried setting the session timeouts to be less than the other application so that the login page will timeout before the documentum application but this does not make a difference.
does any one know how i could get the login page to redisplay by itself, outside of the html frame. do i need to have some javascript to figure out if there is a frame then redraw the page etc...and how should i di this ? any working examples will be appreciated.

You would certainly need some Javascript or use the meta-refresh tag to the session timeout time. If you set the meta-refresh tag in a frame to a time just a little bit bigger than the session timeout time and the set your security mechanisms to force the user to login in again when the session times out, the frame will refresh after the session has timed out and the application should forward the frame to the login page.
    <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="session-timeout-timeout+1">

  • Firefox does not automatically load nor find the login page for a public network (i.e. username and password)

To log in on a public network without a password-key (not secured), a user login is required.
After connecting to the network, the browser, upon opening it, normally automatically loads the login page, in order to enter a username and password and connect to the internet.
Firefox doesn't find the login page automatically, so I need to switch to google Chrome just to log in to the network.
Does this have anything to do with user settings in the options of firefox?
    Any ideas?
    thx!

    Hi,
You can try setting the login page as the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page Home page] and choose to '''Show my home page''' beside '''When Firefox starts:'''.
Alternatively, and/or to preserve your current settings you could also pin it as an always present one-click away [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/what-are-app-tabs App tab].

  • Https and http configuration

    Hello All
Can anyone tell me how to configure a website which contain both https and http pages? I mean for example, if you go to your online banking website, all the pages before you reach the Login page are in http. But once you have login, all the pages are under https.
For my own project, I have also installed the SSL onto my Tomcat, it works fine. However, all the pages are under https, even the index.html page. Below is my server.xml, hope it may give you more information.
    Many thanks

True for my version of TOMCAT
I think that if you check http://localhost:8080
you will find that you can access your pages
    with out using http also.
You are applying ssl to the server not the individual
war files. So you can access the files using both
    https and http.
What you need todo is set the security parameters of the
war file that you want to access using https to only allow
    connection using https.
So now you can access the web pages using http or https
but you can only access the file with the security settings
    using https.
Note if you are using sessions becareful you don't jump between
http & https and leave the session id exposed.

  • EQG-30276 Unable to fetch login page

I have set up a portal source, created a user in portal with view priveleges, succesfully registered the OID identity management plugin.
But when I attempt to crawl the portal source, my crawl fails with the above message in the log. It displays the url it is attempting to fetch, and the url displayed is not our login page. There is a custom login form at this site. Is this the issue?
    The log is as follows:
EQG-30276: Unable to fetch login page
    EQG-30025: https://test-sso.<removed>.com/pls/orasso/orasso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_login?site2pstoretoken=v1.2~DE163018~99DDE599DEFD2008E680EF5788E480B7064256ECFB58461AE39D93D6FD3FE4B5D9E6D3D2999BFF44D0C6E9F0E092C69625990CB3D0CCE46061F69A2CAC97D2CA63692C981879F25C57B714FF2E78AB6F14C3648A9560EE07CC585404C08C585FDACD12BCFE09D6DBBAAB881DFCC8268851B0834141B66490E76C21D7CB7E967E331839C221BE7ECAF158E6EB172F35FC12C45B7DB67D5B29544E934B93CB64822DF303A295A0AC5A2C8B43E78
    I removed the domain name.
If I copy this url to a browser window, it fails as well. If I remove all but the base url (before orasso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_login), can at least get to the SSO home. Like I mentioned, we have a custom login form.
Can I configure the Id managment to go to the custom form, or do I need to create a new Id management plugin?
    Thanks for any help!

I have made a little progress on finding the answer to this, but would like a second opinion before I have our SA go down a path.
It seems that we are have a problem with our certificate. If I paste the url into the browser, it returns a message saying that there is a problem with the certificate and asks if I want to continue. If I continue, it goes to the custom login page.
Could the certificate issue be causing the problem I am seeing? I think it is, but would like a second opinion.
    Thanks

  • Can't connect Windows 8.1 Enperprise to Windows Server 2012 Essentials. Get a Digest Login page and then a Blank with HTTP 404 Error page. Need help!

    Hi,
I have make a new and clean install of Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials on my office network server and then i made a new and clean install of Windows 8.1 Enterprise version on one of my office desktops.
After all VPN and Anywhere Access where setup on the server i when to a PC that is inside my office network and browse on Internet Explorer to the URL to connect this PC to the server and make it part of the domain.
But when i browse to the http://MYSERVERNAME/connect im not getting the Windows Server page with the option to download the windows connector. Instead i get a login pop-up saying "iexplore" and "digest". I try to create a user on the server
and use that user login details on this login box, but even then, the only thing i get is a blank page saying a HTTP Error 404.
So can someone please help me on this? Any advice on how to solve this problem in order to show the normal Windows Server connect page?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Based on your description, please refer to following operations and troubleshoot this issue. Then check if
can help us to narrow down the cause of this issue.
    Please type
http://server-IP-address/connect in IE. Then check if encounter the same issue.
On the Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials, please open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. Navigate to Sites, then right click Default Web Site and select
Edit Bindings… In Site Bindings, select Port 80 and click “Edit…” button. Would you please provide a screenshot of the Edit Site Binding (Port 80) that you can see?
    Then please click
Connect which in the list of Default Web Site. In the mid panel, select
.NET Authorization Rules and double click it. Then please check if all users were allowed.
By the way, would you please provide a screenshot of the login page when you browser
http://servername/connect? It may help me to understand this issue clearly.
Meanwhile, please logon a problematic client computer and navigate to the path: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows
Server\Logs folder. Then check if there is Computerconnector log file. If there is, please check it if can find some clues. (Please note: the log file is a hidden file. Please open Control Panel, select Folder Options, select View tab and check Show hidden
files, folders and drives. Then you will be able to find the log file.)
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

  • How to enable https or SSL for login page only?

    Hi,
My application is runnnin in iPlanet web server 4.1 version.
how to make my login page only secured (SSL)?
previously we have done https enable for the whole application. but client specifically wants for login page only, not for the whole application. how can i make SSL for login page only in iPlanet 4.1.
I searched through iPlanet console, but i didn't get any option such.
i found one more thing console,i.e., "encrypt on or off". if i put encrypt "on" means, it will be for the whole application? How can i make it for login page only.
Do i need to do any code changes for that?
i tried through web.xml security constraints tags, but it is not working and taking that file as we are doing everything in servlet.properties and rules.properties files.
can anybody help me in this regard?
    Regards,
    Chandu

You specify SSL in web.xml of your application. So, in that case other web applications in same server would not be affected.
    <security-constraint>
    <web-resource-collection>
    <web-resource-name>myresources</web-resource-name>
    <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
    </web-resource-collection>
    <user-data-constraint>
    <transport-guarantee>CONFIDENTIAL</transport-guarantee>
    </user-data-constraint>
</security-constraint>Following link will help you to setup SSL in tomcat:

  • Https with login page

    Hi,
How can I make the default APEX login page secure (https)? The other pages will remain http. Is this possible? or I need to make the whole application https.
I think, in future APEX releases, it will benefit if there are options for declarative control over http/https in the same application.
    Thanks.
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
just having HTTPS for the login page is insecure, because if you use HTTP for all other pages your session cookie can be stolen by a man-in-the-middle attack. Just remember a year or two ago when somebody released a Firebug plug-in to steal the session cookie for Facebook, Twitter, ... when those user are on the same WiFi.
