WLAN issues with N8

Hi All,
I have developed an issued with my N8 where I'm unable to browse with a WLAN Connection. I'm able to see WLAN connections and connect the device to the WLAN. But when I start a browsing session (trying to access Google), it gives an error. Also, tried connection to other websites but the same error pops up. I have also checked the WLAN is connected all the time. I have tried chaning the priority settings in the Access Point, chaning the access points in the bookmarks but to no avail.
I was able to connect to WLAN previously until after I updated to ANNA. I'm unsure where and what settings I had changed after that (as it was automatically connecting to packet data causing my phone bills to shoot) which is now causing the issue.
If anyone has a solution to this (except a hard reset), please reply to this post. I would not prefer to go for a hard resetting as there is a lot of data in the phone and I have already used up the 1 yr free subscription of OVI.
Thanks in advance,
Manish K.

the latest update is 14.02 but i think even that firmware has not fix for wlan problem bug
i dont know why the nokia updater does not show you the update
you need to go here
http://www.nokia.co.uk/support/download-software/device-software-update/can-i-update
and type at the end of page your mobile serial product code and see if you can update
My N8 is now on PR1.2 - I think I got an OTA notification of it being available.
Haven't made any changes to config - have WLAN scanning off. But does seem to connect to my home WLAN / WiFi in a sort of random way. Not sure whether to think it's any more robust, or not, really, I just think it's something of a shame that other devices (Blackberry phone, 1st gen iPod touch, and other WiFi devices) have no trouble, whereas a fairly new phone has.
I guess I just wish WLAN / WiFi worked reliably, really (WPA2, fairly long PSK - that I shouldn't have to change just because of one new-ish device).
The other question I had is what's the purpose of the small, white LED on the side of the case - just above the USB port. I've not read any description or explanation of it, so wondered whether anybody knew?

  • Atheros WLAN Driver Fixes Connection Issues With Many New Routers (Linksys, Netgear, D-Link, etc...)

    Hi:
This post is for those that have the below listed Atheros adapters, and recently upgraded their routers (usually from a Wireless G to a Wireless N router from 2009 or newer), only to find they cannot connect to the internet anymore.
    Atheros AR5006 802.11a/b/g WiFi Adapter
    Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter
    Atheros AR5009 802.11a/g/n WiFi Adapter
When using their old equipment, there were no problems.
Symptom:  When upgrading to a new router, normally connection is made to the local network, but one cannot access the internet.
Symptom:  Wireless connects if using WEP security or no security, but will not connect when using WPA2-Personal security.
For those who have the above Atheros wireless adapters, and are experiencing issues with connecting to the internet, there is a driver available that should remedy the situation.
It is good for Windows operating systems -- Windows XP through Windows 7 -- 32 or 64 bit.
It may work on Windows 8 too, but I haven't tested it on Windows 8.
Here is the link to the driver download page:
    http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=5060881&swItemId=ob_108905_1&swEnvOid=405...
    Best Regards,
    Paul

I created an HP account just to thank you for this link. I've spent 2 days online and talking to call centers trying to get this driver. I was finally going to just return my router to Best Buy. Thank you SO much!

Can you post the output to the command "debug client "?
Can you try if the client has any issues if he was connected to an SSID with OPEN authentication?
Is the wireless NIC drivers updated?

  • Issues with WIFI-connection in the Spotify app

I have a very annoying problem with my Nokia 5800 XM and the Spotify-app. I updated the app to v. 0.4.3.9 yesterday and it required that I uninstalled the old version first, i.e deleting all my cached tracks. Now today when I'm going to resync (on WLAN, since it's about 500 tracks) it just won't connect. I choose the correct WLAN from the list, but the app continues being blue (not green) and then the list pops up again. I read another discussion about almost the same thing a moment ago, so I tried to go to the menu and check the WLAN connection from its menu. So I did that, and it says my WLAN has full signal strength (I'm right next to the router) but then it loses the connection and asks me again which network I want to use. I have not had any issues with WLAN in any other app, and I have synced tracks with Spotify on my WLAN before, so I have no idea where the problem lies. Maybe something with the update and my WLAN? I don't know...
About the attachments: The list that shows several times and then the WLAN list where I'm connected to my network and it has full strength. "Marsvinsfarmen" is my network.
I'm thankful for answer, I use Spotify every day!

Okay everyone! I struggled with this problem for a long time, and I was just about to send a complaint to Spotify when it worked for me! See, I did a little different than before; this is the list I was going to file:
"1. I open Spotify from the application menu.
    2. I choose "Online" mode.
    3. My phone asks me how I want to connect to the Internet.
    4. I pick "Easy WiFi".
    5. I choose my WiFi network from the list.
    6. Application seems to be signing me in.
    7. My phone asks me again how I want to connect to the Internet.
    8. I repeat the procedure. Spotify can't connect with WiFi.
-I have tried to connect using other WiFi networks, didn't work.
-Before I updated last time I could connect without problem.
     -I can connect using 3G.
-I can connect using WiFi in other applications than Spotify, for example Opera Mobile and the native browser.
-I have reinstalled the application without difference."
However, I did it a little different, which made it work: instead of choosing "Easy WiFi", I choose my network directly from the list: see attachment. I never thought of that I could do so and I can't remember I did that before the update either. I have now synced my tracks and the app seems to be a little buggy, I still hope for an update, though it now works at least. Sometimes it crashes.
Please, tell me about if this worked for you and if you have other, better solutions. This isn't good enough, I still seek a better way.

  • Satellite L500 and issues with wireless connection

    Hello people
Ill just throw my problem out there.
First of all my details and info which may help you help me!
Satellite L500 running windows 7 (note: same issues when Vista was installed)
Latest wireless drivers as well as latest drivers for everything else.
My wireless router is a billion voip enabled router 7000 series its quite a good one for when I got it about 2 yrs ago and works fine.
Basically the problem is the wireless on my Satellite L500 keeps dropping out. Im no more than 20m away at most, right now Im 10m away with 1 wall in the way. I tried to get to a website and it says connection dropped out or unable to find host.
However the other laptops in the same room same spot at the same time has no issues at all. Never has.
As soon as I go into the same room as my router it works again. Sometimes works if I just stand on the opposite wall.
So basically Im thinking my wireless card in my laptop is either faulty or just no good?
Can u replace the wireless card with a different one? Maybe the Toshiba ones are just no good? Ive read so many problems with these wireless cards in Toshibas...
Anyone have any ideas? Have I missed any info u need? Ill repost again in a day or so with the types of wireless devices in each laptop.

    Hi
At the moment I doubt that your WLAN card is faulty. Before you exchange it you should also update your BIOS and not only the WLAN card driver. Both updates you should download from the Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
I had a similar issue with my Toshiba notebook and WLAN connection. The problem was the WLAN power saving mode in Windows Power Management. There you can also choose a power saving mode for the WLAN card. Disable it and choose Maximum Performance.

  • Having a connection issue with the WRT54GS Wireless Router

We just recently got Broadband internet. We had issues with it at first, because the Ethernet cable included wasn't working properly, and instead, the guy got us connected via USB cable. Now, I just bought this Router yesterday, and made the mistake of unplugging the USB and plugging in the extra cable. I did everything as instructed in the Easylink Advisor program. My connection was messed up, and I could not connect at all. After calling Tech support, they reset our modem and everything (cable modem and internet-wise) is as good as new. I went out and bought a new Ethernet cable, so now I have 2 perfectly new cables, and left the USB cable plugged in, so I don't throw it off as I did yesterday. I still can't get the Port 1 light to come on. the WLAN light is on, as well as the Internet light, but no Port lights will turn on. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance! -Chris-

Are you getting online via ethernet with the modem now? Make sure your local area network is enabled. Go to control panel then network connections.

  • Windows 8.1 Data reordering issue with Intel Adaptors

According to Intel, there is a data reordering issue with their adaptors and probably this dumb WIDI software. This is from Intel site. they say some are fixed, "A future Windows 8 fix will address this issue for other Intel wireless adapters." I
have one Nope, still broke. I get drops all the time. Brand new Toshiba laptop I7 16 gigs of ram and a SSD and a 2 gig Vid card. Would be nice to be able to play games but I get dropped all the time. Now would Microsoft quit hiding
about this, and fix the darn thing. Also i'm a system admin for 13 years. I have build over 1000 PCs and servers. I know bad software. Please fix this. PLEASE. Its not going to just go away and its not just Toshiba, I have seen other companies with the
same problem. If there is a Fix PLEASE POST IT. Or even a workaround I have tried everything.

    Hi,
Have your first tried the software fix under this link for your network adapter?
    http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/proset-ws/sb/CS-034041.htm
Please Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.
Also, you can try to check if there is any driver update under Device manager from manufacture's website.

Yep didn't work. Still get drops all the time, had to run a Cat 5E cable to my laptop from my modem, because I have Atheros Gigabyte Lan adaptor. Works Great. The Wireless still drops all the time. Has Microsoft let out the patch to fix this or is it coming in
April in the 8.1 patch that's coming. Funny thing is all for Widi, I don't even use widi, I got the software to do that from Samsung works better on my TV. Intel and Microsoft need to get this fixed. because their driving off gamers and that's the
people that make sure they buy Microsoft so they can play games. With the wireless link dead and a great laptop worthless what's the point. Ive been in IT for 13 years building PCs  and Servers how I knew how to run a 60 FT Cat 5e line thru
a 2 story house and terminate it. Most people don't. Fix the problem.

  • Issues with Clients moving from Autonomous to LWAPP

I have a fairly large wireless rollout of access points at my hospital's main campus and then I have 41 remote sites that have approximately 3 to 10 access points at each location.
My problem is this, I just converted one site from 9 autonomous access point over to LWAPP. The site has a 10 meg metro Ethernet connection so I know its not the link back to me. We have 26 Motion Tablets with Atheros wireless clients at that location that utilize a Citrix application called Logician. We have been having some issues with the Motion tablets holding the Citrix connection, but once we converted this site, those clients have really been having issues.
There is a high density of access points so coverage is not an issue, but I didn't know if anyone else out there may have a similar scenario and could lend some advise as to why the LWAPP causes so many issues.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi. LWAPP itself should not cause service to be worse; because of the dynamic nature of its settings, it should actually improve connectivity.
Do these wireless clients have access to any services (e.g. internet) that do not require use of Citrix? If so, how is the performance there? If you're getting consistent, reasonably quick internet access, but your Citrix session keeps failing; it may not be a WLAN issue per se.
I have done several implementations of Citrix over WLAN for hospitals. Most of the time if there are connection interruptions, it boils down to one of two problems.
1.) Interference: Hospitals are very hostile environments for RF. Various building materials, large machinery, and irregular shapes in the floorplan make it difficult for RF to travel consistently.
2.) Citrix settings: Citrix is a highly configurable application. There are session timeout settings which can be tweaked which may make the system more tolerant to momentary lapses in connectivity.
My suggestion would be to see if the issue is limited to Citrix traffic only; and if it is, look at how Citrix is configured. If you're finding sub-par performance with all wireless traffic, then maybe it's an interference issue that keeps knocking you off the WLAN. If that is the case, I would suggest a professional wireless consultant should come in and decide on the best methods for giving you more consistent service.
Hope this helps! If so, please rate.

  • Zbook wlan issues

I have a brand new Zbook 14 with Windows 7 64 bit OS, where I have two issues.
    1) The Wlan is not working in my home. Windows is complaining over no Internet connection.
All my other devices are working at home, so there is definately no issue with my connection.
I can't even surf locally to my router with IP , so its some other issue with WLAN towards my router/access points.
The WLAN in my Zbook is working ok on other accesspoints, like the iPhone internet sharing service etc...
I read about some issues with 5GHz band with Zbook, but haven't found any solutions.
    2) Also there is an issue if I enable BIOS setting LAN/WLAN switch to automatically change between LAN and WLAN. If I enable it, Windows will not boot corretly. It gets extremely slow and makes noise from the speaker.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    /Peter

  • WLAN Issues - AP Associations

    Hello,
I am having issues with our WLAN, I have two APs setup but it seems only one is ever associated with my Wireless controller at any one point.  I believe both should associated with the Wireless controller at all points?  This is backed up by continual performance and signal issues with any clients who attach to the WLAN.
I have included a screenshot to show the issue.
Can anyone shed any light on what is going on?
    Thank you
    David.

That output shows both AP's joined to the controller.  It shows that the client is only associated to one or the other.

  • Horrible playback issues with iTunes 8 and Airport Express over Wifi

    Hello folks,
I just upgraded to iTunes 8, and since then, I've been unable to get good playback from my Airport Express with iTunes on my Macbook Pro.
I get between 5-30 seconds of continuous playback, then a hiccup, ad nauseum, ad inifintum. A five minute track usually ends up taking six-seven minutes to complete, and it's like listening to a CD skip.
Both the Macbook Pro and the Airport Express are communicating over 802.11n, and worked well before the upgrade to iTunes 8. On my older, slower, crappier Powerbook which only has 802.11g but runs iTunes 7 (in the same room, about two feet from the other laptop), playback is rock solid.
I've noticed when I monitor the WLAN interface on my MBP with 'netstat -in', I'm seeing a lot of Ierrs, but there's nothing in any of the system logs to indicate a hardware problem (yet, anyway).
Has anyone else had this issue since upgrading? Should I be looking to get my WLAN NIC fixed, or is it an issue with iTunes 8? Are there diagnostic applications I can use to perform hardware confidence tests on the WLAN NIC?
    cheers,
    Klaus

My AirPort Express optical out has this problem as well, stutter and very bad sound. But only the new 802.11n modell. A older 802.11g model works without a problem.
It worked well until I upgraded to iTunes 8, I bought in in May.
I just had my AirPort Express 802.11n replaced under warranty by Apple but the new unit has the same problem.
Everyone who is using the optical out and have the stutter problem needs to write to Apple about it so they realize it's a problem and fix it.

  • WLAN disconnects with iOS 8

Since installation of iOS 8 my WLAN disconnects very often with both my iPad Air and my iPhone 5s. Can anyone give advice what to do?

  • IOS6 fixed my WLAN issues!

    Hi all!
I just had to share this with you all. Since the release of iPhone 3 I have had WLAN issues (at work, at home, anywhere) resulting in WLAN getting disconnected from time to time. Recently with iOS5 on my iPhone 4 I had to manually connect to the WLAN each time I used my phone. Irritating to say the least!
But since the iOS6 upgrade the WLAN connects itself in about 5 seconds from that I wake the iPhone from "sleep".
I might just stick with the iPhone 4 and not get a 5:er since I´m finally really happy with my phone!

I dont think it works correctly GSPEARSON as changing my BTID password had no effect on my email password.  The BTID password was changed on numerous occasions during trouble shooting with no effect.  The only way to actually change my email password I found was using the password change feature under manage emails after switching my default email address to another.  This password change feature is not available to the default email account only other owned addresses.
BT's system isn't clear or coherent in my view.  It is also misleading that you can have say a password X for your BT ID and a password Y for your default email address and can access it through either (login through btID then click emails using X or login to btmail.bt.com with Y.  I dont like that at all.

  • T410 Wlan issue

    Hello everyone,
I am facing a strange issue with the Wlan of my Lenovo T410 laptop. It works fine in for 1 or 2 hours in my wifi-hot spot.
And suddenly stops working, although it shows that it is connected with the access point with good signal strength.
I have checked at different locations, it makes problem only in my hot spot.
Any suggestion please to help me out.
    Thanks

    Hi, Shaka
Have you ran into this issue with any other devices connected to your Hotspot, such as a mobile phone, a tablet, or another laptop? If you haven't tested this, I would try another device and see if you experience the same issue, if possible.
    Best,
    Adam

  • Asha 302 Wlan issue

i have this phone, got it like two days back , but i dont know whats the issue with the phone the wlan is not working as in i connect to a netwrok pretty well but when i open any ointernet app it says no connection available . did u face any such problems ???????

Perform below steps in your Nokia Asha 302 mobile phone and then you have to check whether it helps you or not?
    -Go to menu.
    -Select settings.
    -Choose configuration
    -Open personal config settings.
-Now you have to select create new option and don’t enter any value.
    -Press back button
Now after creating the dummy web setting you should set it as default and then you have to enable it. You have to make sure that internet connection is set to ask first. After doing that your problem will get solve and when you try to use internet at that time it will ask for which access point to use at that time you have to select your original access point
