WLAN Module Upgrade for DV6-7030TX

Hi,
I'm looking at upgrading the Broadcom 4313GN WLAN module that came with my DV6-7030tx and want to replace it with an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (part number 670691-001 in the service manual).
However, I've seen a number of posts in this forum with possible discrepancies between the part numbers listed in service manuals and the actual part.
For example, when I search for that part (670691-001)on the HP spare parts store, it's listed as "Ralink WLAN Ralink Ripple3 RT5390F_802.11 b/g/n 1x1 PCIe HMC".
Can anyone advise if I'm actually able to upgrade to an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 as per the service manual?

Clearly as an Associate Professor with over 2K of Posts your are a smart Fella/Fellie.
However there are also some pretty smart people over at My Digital Life and BIOS-Mods.com and other BIOS related web sites who would disagree with you and also seem to have numerous examples of successful "white list removal/modification" Fixes.
I am personally not advocating the "moding" of your HP BIOS but this "white list" issue is a hot topic on the net and as with many other examples of Hardware Manufacturers throwing down the "gauntlet" to annoyed and often ingenious customers there are not many, if any, examples of the Manufacturers winning these "ha ha you can't mod/hack me" battles.
Ask Nintendo, Apple, Microsoft, Samsung, HTC, Huawei ets etc.etc.
HP can not win at this and all they are doing by stopping their paid up customers from updating ONE component of their systems they are just p*&^%$ing people off. Why can we modify our HDD, RAM, Video Card etc but not our WiFi Card??????????
It certainly annoys me that I buy a new 2012 HP Laptop that in WiFi terms is technologically behind my kids local public school. It even annoys me more when I find that I cannot update that ONE $30- $40 WiFi component because HP has placed code in the system BIOS to block any changes THEY do not want me to make. It is MY LAPTOP. I should be able to change what I want to even without consideration of any so called warranty related issues.
In contacting HP about the Pavilion DV6 7002AX they do not even want to know about it. Their attitude is they do not officially sell it. It is sold only through retailers. Nothing to do with HP????? It has got HP all over it!!!!!
If they do not even admit to selling the DV6 7002AX then why are they worried about me changing the "steam driven" WiFI Card they stuck me with?????
HP can not win this, and I do not believe that the extent of the negative feelings from customers and possible future customers out here in the real world is in any way worth the few extra bucks they are making by screwing customers around.
I will continue to look for non HP solution because HP does not offer any.
It is nearly Christmas HP, win a few friends, grow up, and support your customers. Remove the "white lists with new BIOS updates all round.
I wonder how long this post will take to disappear?

I'm currently got a Intel Centrino WIreless-N 2330 chip in my HP DV6-7080eb. I would like to upgrade to 5Ghz and i'm wondering what chip whould be compatible with my system.

WLAN Module ID (702) ERROR USING THE SAME HP PART?!?!?

Hi. I'm the owner of a computer store.
I have a problem with an HP DV6-6181SL.
I replaced the faulty WLAN module (HP SPARE 575920-001) with a new identical model (575920-001) and this is the error message I get:
Wireless Module not supported
Has The system detected a Wireless module installed in the system is not supported and disabled it
WLAN Module ID (702)

"Common module" missing for XP on Satellite Pro A200

Hello everyone,
I received my Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE7) laptop with a Vista OS.
I have made a fresh & clean XP installation on it using the Toshiba's installation instructions document.
Everything is working fine except my Fn+F6 Fn+F7 Fn+F8 hotkeys for Wireless and screen brightness.
I have made a few search over the internet and I found that page :

Looks like that I need to setup "common module" installer in order to make work those hotkeys.
But the problem is that the "common module" is not available on the driver page for XP ....
If I change the OS type to Vista there is "Value Added Package" available but it's not compatible on XP ...
I tried to download and setup a "common module" for Sat Pro A120 model but i got an "TVALZ" error during the installation ....
Did Toshiba support forget to put online a "common module" installer for XP for Sat Pro A200 ??
How can I make work my Fn+F6 Fn+F7 Fn+F8 hotkeys ?
Any help will be really appreciated !

First of all thanks for you reply and for your tips about the Bios version (Vista vs XP).
The first day I received my laptop on Vista OS, I already made a Bios update "the Vista compatible one". So my Bios is v1.70 actually.
I will try monday morning to update the latest XP compatible Bios version which is v5.20...
Do you know if it's possible to apply the latest XP bios upgrade on a bios which was already been upgraded with a Vista compatible version ?
And if the XP comptabile Bios upgrade works, do you think that I will need to setup my fresh XP again (with all Toshiba drivers & utils setup order...) ?

VolumeMediaFormat upgrade for volume failed. Status 20888

Hello All;
I have 2 x OES 11 SP2 with NCS servers with the latest updates. These servers are virtuialized on a SLES 11 SP3 with KVM

9. To hardlink, enable the shared volume on which the dhcpd.conf and dhcpd.leases files are hosted eg.DHCPVOL.
Invoke nsscon in the linux terminal and execute the following commands:
/ZLSSUpgradeCurrentVolumeMediaFormat=VolName
/hardlinks=VolName
in doing the first command, I receive
nss /ZLSSUpgradeCurrentVolumeMediaFormat=VOL1
VolumeMediaFormat upgrade for volume "VOL1" failed. Status = 20888.
The second command states the first command must be done.
nss /hardlinks=Vol1
Hardlinks may not be created on volume "vol1" until it is upgraded using the "ZLSSUpgradeCurrentVolumeMediaFormat" command...
I can offline, online, migrate the pool (with a single volume) between the 2 servers with no issues.
I have checked the nss and ncs modules on the 2 SLES 11 SP3 servers and they are exactly the same.
using nsscon, I can see the _ADMIN and VOL1 volumes. The _ADMIN has the hardlink attribute. So why does VOl1 not upgrade the media format? And what must be done to make this command work?
I cannot continue until this step is fully completed.

Because we believe there is still a node is not fully upgraded to OES11 SP2. Volume upgrade cannot proceed until all nodes are capable of understanding the new media format.

1. Run "sbdutil -v" on one node to check SBD signatures of all nodes.
The signature for all slots should be
"SBD*"
If some of them have "SBD+" (or other signatures), that's the cause of the problem.
2. Make sure those nodes are really on OES11 SP2, or no longer a participant of the cluster.
3. Run command "sbdutil -i" on one of the nodes to update all signatures.
You can do all of the above while NCS is running. You can now try to upgrade the volume without restarting anything.

Which wlan module fits my product?

I am trying to find out which exact wlan module fits my product as listed above. I have read the instructions of the manual, but it lists 3 or 4 different modules as compatible. I reently got an Atheros 9285G. However, when I installed it, the male ends did not fit the female ends. So I am wondering how to get the right replacement. I tried HP part surfer. It allows you to select a part, put it into the shopping cart, but you cannot open the cart and check it out. There must be something wrong with that website. Thanks in advance for your help.

I can't seem to connect wireless to the internet | WLAN module malfunctioning | Network Drivers

I am getting an error within my Chrome browser that says, "this webpage is not available". This error only occurs when I try to use the wifi mode. Everything is fine when I plug in the RJ45 cable/ethernet cable directly to my notebook.
The wifi button/F12 seems to operate properly. The orange and white led turn on and off to indicate it's state.
I should mention that I recently removed the WLAN module and then replaced it after a 90 minute removal and replacement of my HD with that of a new Seagate 1TB SSHD (solid state hybrid drive).
The notebook operates a lot faster now, expecially my adobe softwares like Premiere CC and Photoshop CC. However I can't do anything wirelessly with the internet now!
Need help ASAP >_<

I understand that you have been having some trouble with your wireless connection, since replacing the hard drive with an SSD drive.
Did you update your WiFI driver from the support page for your notebook? HP ENVY m4-1115dx Notebook PC
When you try using a wifi connection, can you see available wireless networks?
If so, will it connect without an error?
Have you tried a different browser if your are able to connect to wireless networks?

Also, you can look at the power management for your wireless adapter:
Disable the Power Off option for the adapter:
1. Open Device Manager. (Win Key+R > type devmgmt.msc > OK)
2. Expand the Network adapters.
3. Right click on the Ethernet/Wireless Adapter and click Properties.
4. Click the Power Management tab.
5. Remove the check mark beside Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
6. Click OK.
7. Test.
Forget the network: (Windows 8)
1. Press Windows Key + C
2. Click Settings.
3. Click Change PC settings.
4. Click Network on the left.
5. Click Manage known networks.
6. Click the network name.
7. Click Forget.

1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.
3. In the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without quotes, and press enter.
4. Restart your PC and test.
It may also help to reset the winsock catalogue:
1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.

Reinstall the network adapter drivers:
1. Download the drivers from here but do not run them yet.
2. Go to your start screen/menu and type Device Manager.
3. Expand Network adapters.
4. Right click on the wireless adapter and choose Uninstall.
5. Run the downloaded drivers from step 1.
6. Restart your PC and test.
Test another connection:
Many people rule out their home network as an issue if another device is working on the same network. Networking is not that simple. Each device interacts differently with your router or modem and it is impossible to rule out settings in that device until the notebook has been tested on another network.

Graphic Card Upgrade for HP-Pavilion dv6t-7000

Hello. I have the HP Pavlilion dv6t-7000 with the NVIDIA GT650M 1GB grpahics card. Now because of my work, i need to extends my graphic card memory. So I want to ask if my laptop is possible to upgrade to GT650M 2GB card.
My product number is A5F74AV. And my wannary is end on 8/24/2013.
And this laptop is a gift of my aunt from USA, and I'm living in Viet Nam now. So if yes, can HP Vietnam do the upgrade for me? My aunt's family is very busy so I can't resend my laptop and ask them to return to you.

The only way to upgrade the video card in your notebook is to replace the entire motherboard which would cost as much as buying a new notebook with better graphics.
If you had HP do the upgrade, it would probably cost more than buying 2 notebooks with better graphics than yours.
