Wlan on E71

I have problem with my the sets of my WLAN@ school.
i need 802.1x on wep peap mschsp
I did everything but the 802.1x use only wpa\wpa2, is there any chance i am missing something?

If your wireless Access Point is using WEP then you need to go to the Menu ---> Connectivity --> WLAN Wizard and set the access point up for WEP not WPA/WPA2 otherwise you will not be able to connect.
The information for setting the phone up with WLAN is found on page 109-110 of the E71-1 User Manual.

I am unable to disconnect from WLAN for E71 and need to switch off and again switch on to disconnect. Is there a way to disconnect from WLAN without switching off the mobile?

on the main screen of ur mobile u can see an option search wlan, when u want disconnect ur wlan click on that then u have a menu through that menu u can disconnect ur connection. or go to menu->control panel->connectivity->assistent wlan-> there u can select ur connected ap and deconnect it.

Cost of using WLAN on E71

I have an account which allows me to use the internet for a certain amount of time in a month, and more than that costs extra. When my E71 is connected to internet by WLAN, is it seperate from this account, ie, its free, right?

My understanding of your questions is as follows: you have a mobile phone contract which gives you a set number of 'free' minutes/hours each month for accessing the Internet, and also probably a set number of 'free' minutes and texts. Whenever you use more than your 'free' amount you are charge additional money over your normal monthly contract rate.
WLAN, or WiFi, is separate to your monthly mobile contract - i.e. you are not using your mobile provider's mobile/cellular network.
If you connect your phone via a WiFi access point (WLAN or Wireless Local Area Network) then you are NOT using your mobile/cellular access time. This is the same as using your PC on the WLAN.
This assumes that you're on your own WLAN connection or a free WiFi hotspot.
If you're outside and you connect purely via your mobile using 3G (mobile data connection) then you are using your free internet time and anything over your monthly allowance will be chargeable.

Using Wlan in E71

Hi Guys,
I have recently bought a E71-1 phone. I have a few issues while connecting to my office network.
My office network is a WPA2-Enterprise/EAP-FAST with AES-CCMP encryption.
The EAP-FAST enhancements (CCXv4) has been disabled along with unathenticated provisioning allowed.
The browser needs a proxy to access the internet once the laptop is connected to the network
Having said that, I tried setting up the same on my mobile. I defined an AP with wpa2 and eap-fast only enabled but i could not connect to my network. Could anyone please let me know if you were able to connect to a similar network from your e71 phone? I would really appreciate your thoughts or pointers on this.

my problem is even worst i bought the E71 i thought that the problem was from the phone so went to change i here is the situation i try many times and still the same **bleep** i make a search for wlan found it connect my phone to it put in the web key and automatically the access point is being define i start web browsing and an error message sat unable to connect wlan not found do a search the wlan is still here and this happen to me now on 2 brand new phones
can anyone help?????

How do I connect to applications using WLAN on E71...

Everytime I open an application on my Nokia E71 they automatically connect using "Orange Internet". I cannot find any settings which refer to the access point used by applications.
Is there a way of setting apllications to connect using the local wireless network rather than 3G.

E71 - Browsing The Internet

Hello,
I always have this problem when I try to access my hotmail using WLAN on E71. The browser will always prompt me with "Cookies must be allowed to browse this site", even though I have allowed Cookies... This is just one of the sites that I have difficulty accessing, among the rest are facebook, etc...
Does anyone has the same problem with this?

Last week I bought the E71 in The Hague. Super. Quite easy to use. But...
I have this same problem that I cannot log on to some websites. Reddit.com works. But the admin section of my Django website doesn't (http://www.lijst.com/). It states: cookies must be allowed.
Probably these sites are too restrictive. Strange. When I find out the solution I will post it here.

E71 web browser will search for WLAN connection in...

The E71 web browser will search for and present a list of WLANs whilst the phone is in offline mode without asking first. When you then select a WLAN from the list, it does ask if you wish to create a WLAN connection in offline mode. Surely it should ask before searching?

With new FW i can't set, that browser ask me.
Before new SW , browser alwasy give me an option to choose wlan connection..
I this a bug in new FW ?

E71 wlan issue after firware upgrade

I just upgraded by E71 to the latest software version. The upgrade went without any issues. After the upgrade I realised that t had removed all my contacts - so I had to restore my backup(I restored the SETTINGS as well). I was using a app for my 'WiFi' (for prioritizing my access points) and after the firmware upgrade - I could not see this app at all. The following are my issues now:
1. I cannot connect to my home wifi(WEP) - it was fine before the upgrade. The first time it says - 'Connection not available' and every subsequent time it irritates by showing 'WLAN already active. Please close the connection and retry'.
2. I have tried to restore the factory settings and it still does not work.
3. I have renamed my Access point to the ones that the app was using - still no luck.
So, what are my options now? Can somebody please help? I never thought a small software upgrade could spoil my whole evening!

I have just had EXACTLY the same problem.
I have a Nokia E71 and it was working OK before the upgrade. I just used the latest Nokia Updater and latest nokia pc suite to upgrade to 500.21.009.
The upgrade performed perfectly, and after the upgrade I restored my backed up data.
I have the exact symtpoms as psankar. I have factory reset the phone and tried again. Same problem.
Connection not available, and then connection already active. Small Wireless icon appears at top right of screen, and stays there, but there is no active connection in connection manager.
The only way to remove the wifi icon and to get the phone to attempt to reconnect is to power off the phone, but then on reconnectig then you get connection not available and then the whole cycle begins again.
Help appreciated

What is "Radio Measurements" option in E71's WLAN ...

Hi guys,
My question might be a little bit eccentric and perhaps some WLAN gurus can answer . I've found an option in WLAN "Advanced Settings" of my E71, called "Radio Measurements". Anybody knows what is its function and in which occasion shall I disable it (it's enabled by default).

E71 Firmware Upgrade to 110.07.127 + WLAN Connecti...

I have a E71 (RM 346) (15 Days Old - Just Purchased it)and I have updated my firmware to Version 110.07.127 last night.
I have following problesm:
1. Even When I am standing next to the Wifi Access Point the E71 will say that there is no WLAN Available. (However while doing the SCAN, my laptop which uses the same WLAN Network works, fine.
2. After the upgrade of the firmware - I am unable to use the GPRS/EDGE from my operation - as I have unlimited data plan.
I HAVE DONE A COMPLETE FACTORY Reset as well - but nothing helps. This problem was NOT there before the Firmware Upgrade.
Any Help will be greatly appreciated.

E71 Wlan connection problems

Have been trying to log on to my secure home network using my E71 & have not been successful. I go to all the steps as per the manual including key in the
Pre-shared key for Wlan which I guess is my Wlan password, is this correct?
I get an error message
Wlan unable to connect
Wlan network not found??
This is a strange message when it has detected the network in the first place? Anyone have any ideas?

Yeah, I'm having similar problems. The phone detects the router WLAN, but the router does not detect the phone WLAN. The message I get is: No reaction from gateway.
I suspect that there is an issue with how the various manufacturers implement 802.11b/g

WLAN Security: WEP, 802.1X, WPA, WPA2

My router states the same (Thomson Speedtouch 780) and yet my router cannot detect my Nokia device, even from 30 cm distance.
I may have to upgrade the router firmware to get this to work; still waiting for a reply by Alcatel/Thomson

E71 WLAN connection problem

hello, i just brought a nokia E71 about 2 hours ago, and i get home to setup the wlan settings, and i typed in the password wrong and now i cant get back to being able to re type in the password and now it keeps asking me for "pre shared key for wlan"
how do i fix this, because the phone is pretty much useless unless i can use my wifi connection

problem is it dosnt actually ask for a password it asked for pre shared key for wlan
i was at a friends house last night who only had WEP basic protection and when i tried to connect it asked for the password not a pre shared key.
if i take away my wifi password and only give it low WEP protection should that fix it?

E71 and hidden WLAN

I'm using a hidden WLAN, i.e. WLAN which doesn't advertise its name to the air. On laptops, I manually set this WLAN as default (I type its name when connecting for the first time), and that works just fine.
How can I setup WLAN manually on E71 to connect to a hidden WLAN?

Connection name: my hidden wlan
Data bearer: Wireless LAN
WLAN network name: (o) Enter manually: enter SSID
...and the rest as appropriate.

E71 WLAN problems after upgrade to 110.07.127 firm...

Hi, recently I've upgraded my E71 to 110.07.127 firmware and all WLAN operations became very unstable.
For example, when I open WLAN wizard it might show that there's no networks - while were are some for sure, when I press Refresh it starts showing some of them, then I press Refesh once again it shows more (or less), but none of them I can connect to anyway/.
I have a Wi-fi hotspot at home and I've been using it for a while with the phone, but now it either doesn't show up in the list of WLANs or, if it does, the phone cannot connect to it saying "Network is unavailable".
I tried to play with the hotspot options changing bands, "b" or "g" modes etc - no luck at all.
