WLAN - Probleme bei Cisco Router WRVS4400N-EU

Hallo,
ich habe bei einem Kunden 2 Cisco Router WRVS 4400N-EU. Dort gibt es Probleme mit dem WLAN. Wenn ich eine Verschlüsselung einrichte, setzt der Router nach ein bis zwei Wochen das WLAN auf Werkseinstellungen (Standard SSID und Unverschlüsselt) zurück, andere Einstellungen sind nicht betroffen und nach einem Neustart des Geräts lässt sich das Gerät wieder konfigurieren.

Leider nicht.
Unser Kunde hat die HW gegen ein anderes Model ausgetauscht!
Hilfe von Cisco war sehr bescheiden !

1. Verbindung mit dem iPhone 4
Die WLAN Verbindung ist eingerichtet und funktioniert. Jedoch nach längerem standby wird das WLAN weiterhin als verbunden angezeigt, der netzwerkzugriff besteht jedoch nicht mehr. Erst ein deaktivieren und aktivieren des WLANs ermöglicht wieder die Nutzung des WLANs.
Ich habe versucht dieses Problem zu umgehen indem ich einen statische IP vergebe. Es bringt jedoch keine Besserung.
Die Verschlüsselung ist auf wpa2 personal gestellt.
2. Verbindung anderer Geräte per WLAN
Der Internetzugriff funktioniert.
Aber der Server beziehungsweise seine Freigaben werden nur bei einer Verbindung per LAN angezeigt, nicht im WLAN.
Eine Verbindung auf den Server per IP ist jedoch möglich.
Getestet: OS X Schneeleopard, Windows 7

Problems connecting to a Open Network via Wi-fi on Cisco Router

Hi everyone, I know I'm new here but I'm in need of your help, so if you can assist please do so as I cannot live without wi-fi and might have to go back to my nokia again if I can't sort this out.
Vodafone finally released the Iphone on their network in Ireland today and I've picked a 3gs up straight away.
At work I have a wi-fi network with a CISCO router (I have no access to the router as only IT do and they won't change anything to satisfy me and my Iphone anyways). This network has no encryption whatsoever and its free to join, you don't need any password or anything. My nokia at the start couldn't connect as it said that the network needed a pre shared key, this isn't true and in the end it was just change a setting to no auth required for it to log into the network and work perfectly.
Today I got to work and the Iphone can't connect to the network, just says it can't join the network. I cannot find anything about authentication on the settings of the phone nor can I work around this at all. I've had a Ipod touch for (the 2nd gen) for over 2 years and I gave up trying to set it up at work because I just couldn't find what was wrong with it, I ended up almost not using it other than when traveling or on the gym.
So first question is there any way I can access the authentication settings for wi-fi connections on the Iphone? Maybe its just a little change that is needed like the nokia.
Has anyone experienced this problem on a open network that they cannot join?
Any other sugestions? Anything really?

PS: I've also tried to install the Iphone configuration utility however I don't know how to access the profiles on the phone, anyone can help with this so I can try the profile I've created?
I don't think it is going to work because the options available on the configuration utility are basicly the same available on the Iphone itself.

Problem with cisco series 800 router and SMTP

we bought a 877 cisco router and have some problem with SMTP.
I try to read all forum and KB about but do not find any solution.
the problem is that when i try to send any email from client (windows mail) i receive a error 533: you need to supply the correct username and password.
when trying throught hmailserver i receive an email "undeliverable" with this error in body:
Error Type: SMTP
Remote server (62.149.128.202) issued an error.
hMailServer sent: EHLO Globalnet
Remote server replied: 502 unimplemented (#5.5.1)
receving email work correctly.
i'm already using smtp auth, and with my old router everything work fine.
so i beleive is a config problem, maybe with ESMTP (ehlo)?.

I have a Lan with Asterisk IP-PBX , the Cisco router have a BRI to public exchange (ISDN) , the router act like a DCP (ISDN- Device Control Protocol) server and listen (DCP messages) in 2578 port.
I need o know the contents of the TCP frame that carry (ISDN-TCP, the DCP messages) to put a SIP client to talk with PSTN/ISDN using the router. I want to write a software module in Asterisk that translate SIP in (ISDN-DCP) to connect the SIP Phones to the PSTN/ISDN using the BRI ports of the Cisco router. I need to now the contents of this message to dialogue with RCAPI server of the router.
If forum is the right place perhaps to put this, Could you give me a better place, a mail or other forum to receive the speciation of (ISDN-DCP)

Problem installing hp 8600 plus to laptop after installing wireless on desktop via cisco router!

After installing the printer successfully on my desktop wireless through the cisco router I attempted to add my laptop a hp G60-635DX notebook. After installing the printer I got a message that a driver cannot be found! I called cisco and they offered online help for a $ 69.00 contract for 1 year! Looking for cheaper alternative!!!

Does the Asaro run DHCP? If so, turn off all access points except the one running DHCP and connect the printer. Then you can turn on the other APs.

Problems with my 1760 cisco router

Is possible to conect to Internet a 1760 Cisco router without VIC/WIC cards? My Cisco router don't have this cards and I am not able to understand his role in my network! (school network). Thank you.

Depends on your internet connection. If you use DSL/Cable Modem, you usually get an ethernet hand off. If you have T class connection, you'll have/need a WIC-1T or WIC-1T-DSU.

Management of integrated AP in Cisco Router 887

I have a Cisco Router 887 here, with an integrated AP. This AP is a separate device in the router, with its own software, config, etc.
My problem I can't get the remote management of this AP to work (I'd prefer CLI, which means via SSH).
The router has a separate interface to communicate/manage with the AP:

After this initial configuration, I can login to the AP *via the router* by issuing this command:

I'd like to configure the access to work via an SSH-session also!

I tried to remove the access-class and allow every protocol (transport input all), but it didn't change it. How can I make this access to work? How can I find out what is preventing it?
*Note: The rest of this posting covers technically a different problem! I would be very happy if i had at least an answer to one of the given problems!
After failing to achieve this, I tried to tackle the problem differently. This time by configuring an IP-Adress on the AP itself, to SSH directly to it. But I also couldn't get this to work!

The problem here is: I can't get the IP from BVI100 to work correctly in VLAN100. That is, I can't reach it anywhere from VLAN100. This happens in spite of the fact that the SSID (config not shown, it's a Dot11Radio0.100 subinterface with the corresponding bridge-group 100 attached) works perfectly fine.
In my tests I found if I configure the IP in BVI1 (Vlan1), it's reachable. Just in this case the VLAN 1 is not the VLAN I'd like the management IP to be.
Is there some additional bridge-group config missing? I wouldn't know which, as I see no difference to bridge-group 1, where it would work. The only difference is that VLAN 1 is bridged natively via the internal data-link, whereas VLAN 100 is tagged. As I said, WLAN over these SSIDs/VLANs works as expected.

Setting up an HP printer through a cisco router

A friend has just bought a new ibook converting over from the PC world and is trying to set up his HP Deskjet 9300 printer to work with a cisco router. The printer works when set up directly to his G4 ibook but not through the router. We have set the IP addressess so we are getting the router wlan light to flash but the lan light does not come on. I think the problem may be what we have entered in the info fields but but cannot find any information to set me straight. I will be heading over this evening to try to help him again so if anyone has some info that will help it will be appreciated - Thanks in advance

Hi, this is Paulo Bral™,
I recently got an Nokia C3-00 mobile, and I faced so many problems with Wi-FI connection of this phone that I decided to share my experience with you guys.
I am going to write here the definitive guide to fix all WLAN problems you may encounter (and this is something that not even Nokia Support was able to do) - are you ready?
First of all, I am assuming you have the knowledge about Wi-Fi networking (SSIDs, Channels, Security, and all the terms related to setting up a decent Wi-Fi connection), second, you need to have full acess to your router, as we will configure everything from the ground, third and last you will need a tool called InSSIDer from Meta Geeks (Google it) to perform diagnostic tasks explained below.
Analyzing the networks around you
First off, you need to spend some time running the tool InSSIDer on your PC to collect data from Wi-Fi networks around you as they may be the cause of your connection problems. We will use these 2 visualizations: "Time Graph" and "2.4GHz Channel" to monitor the networks around - if you dont know what you are doing, better close this page and start running away.
Configuring the router
After collecting data from the networks around, now it's time to set up our router. I found out that I have other 15 networks around me, and I found out here that most of them were using Channel 6, the same I was using. Also some of them are using the Channel 9 and 11. In this case, I set my router to use the Channel 1, as nobody were using it and it is also far away from other Channels being used. After some time collecting data, you will be able to see which Channel has no user or less users, and you must choose it. The security of you WLAN is your choice, as it does not have any side effects. I suggest using WPA2 as it is the most secure of the 3 this mobile supports. BTW, don't ask me how to configure your router, ask Google for it!
Testing WLAN connectivity
Now it's time to test WLAN connectivity with your reconfigured router. Try opening some pages, try watching YouTube videos... If your mobile is working OK, with no connection errors or timeouts, your problem was only the interference caused by networks around. But, if you still experience problems like timeouts or errors opening pages and YouTube videos, you need to continue to the next step.
Using router QoS and Static IP
If you have an very fast internet (10MBPS+) you will need to slow things down, as this cell phone does not really support fastest internet speeds, now you have to know your cell MAC address, make it use an Static IP, and configure QoS to reduce the downstream speed on the cell phone IP to 3MBPS max speed - BTW, not all routers supports this, if yours don't support it, get another router, I recommend Cisco or LinkSyS.
Still having problems
The above steps solved my problem for a while, as the phone were working a little better with my Wi-Fi, yet I experienced some timeouts and errors opening pages. Now the next step will require a PC connected to your network and this will reduce to ZERO the timeouts and errors opening pages.
Keeping the Connection Alive - for bad routers
If you have a generic (not Cisco or LinkSyS) cheap bad router, you will need this step! I noticed that even when the cell phone were showing the Wireless icon, the LED indicating Wireless on my router was not always turned on, so I understood my router was like "ignoring" the cell phone connection and just stopped responding to its calls. To fix this bad router behaviour, you will need a PC connected to your network, and prepare yourself to laugh: All you need to do is "keep pinging" the cell phone IP as this will keep it connection alive. The simplest way is to create a .BAT file with these 3 lines inside:
:autoping
ping <cell phone IP>
goto autoping
Now save it on your desktop, use anyname.bat as you wish - now run it and connect your cell phone to the WLAN. You will notice the difference, as it will work so stable like if it were connected using LAN cable!!! You will never have connection problems again!
Well, that is it, following this guide your cell phone will never have WLAN problems again (well, at least on your WLAN).

I also get this problem on my iPad, so probably not related to the AppleTV. On the iPad I restarted Airport Extreme this time, and then the iPad saw my Home Sharing.
So to recap, restarting the router or Airport Express allowed the iPad and AppleTV to see Home Sharing. Restarting AppleTV also allows AppleTV to see Home Sharing.
So does anyone have any idea?

How do I setup Airport Express to extend my CISCO router's wifi range?

I am using CISCO EA4500 router for internet connection via wifi. I have Airport Express with me, which I want to use as extender of the wifi network. I setup the Airport Express as "Extend the wireless network", provided same base station name (CISCO), network name (JKS) and passwords.
However, I am not able to get it to work. Its gives me error saying network: unknown.
I have just 1 BHK flat, and even then the range is not enough to reach from my DR to BR. I tried using Airport Express as the base station as well. But the problem is again the range.
Help me please.

Can I do it other way around? I mean setup Airport as Base station and use Cisco to extend the wireless network?
I doubt that the Cisco router would be able to to wirelessly extend the AirPort network, since Apple uses proprietary settings that are designed to work with other Apple routers.
Also, when I am trying to use just Airport, I am not able to connect multiple devices at the same time
Sorry, but I don't know whether you have the AirPort connected to the Cisco router using an Ethernet cable....or.....whether you are saying that you have the AirPort connected directly to your modem using an Ethernet cable.
If the AirPort is connected directly to your modem.....what is the make and model number of this device?
Since you know that the Cisco router is working OK when you have it connected to your modem, things would be much simpler if you connect the AirPort to the Cisco router using an Ethernet cable. Can you do this?

If you have an old firmware it would be a good idea to go out to Cisco.com and see if there is any firmware updates. I have looked on the site for you and I see the latest firmware is:2.0.2.1

You can also try to reset your device to its factory settings, to reset your router please take a object that has a point and hold the reset button in on the back for "atleast" 30 seconds until the lights on the front to start flashing.
About Mac address, you can map a Static IP with a specific mac address, You can folllow these steps in order to configure it.

WiFi (WLAN) problem - in the same room a iOS 5 device connects, iOS 6 not

I won't say that it's a proof for the iOS 6 WiFi/WLAN problem. BUT, it's evident that my iPhone 4 with iOS 5 sees all WLAN-networks and connects - my new iPad with iOS 6 doesn't! And I'm using the two devices in the same room. In addition my new iPad didn't have connection problems before updating to iOS 6.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

However, I cannot ping interfac Dialer 1. I using Cisco vpn client software ver 5.0.07.0290.

I configed following your guide, but it have not worked yet. I saw that I cannot ping IP gateway Internet . I using ADSL Internet and config PPPoE and my router receive IP from ISP. Here show ip int brief :
