WLAN problems with C6

I am trying to setup WLAN in my Nokia C6. I have created a Internet access point for my Wireless Noetwork and have set all the required configuration settings. When I try to use EMail or Web, I am asked to choose a connection, but the access point I have created for the WLAN connection is not shown. When I choose the option for searching the wireless network, the Wireless Network is shown, but I select that, an error is shown that it is unable to connect to the network. I guess it is not using the access point I created with all the necessary settings for the WLAN.
Appreciate any help in this regard.

Further, I hope you have given the appropriate WEP/ WPA key in your C6-00 (same as that in your WiFi router). Also check if your WiFi router has DHCP enabled to allocate IP address to your phone. Or check if you need to give a static IP address. (preference is to change your router to work as DHCP)
Finally, check & set the priority of use for your WLAN -
Menu > setting > Connectivity > destinations > Internet > (you should be able to see your WLAN access point here), choose WLAN access point name > Use Access point = automatically > back > highlight your WLAN access point > Options > Organise > change priority
