WLC 2100 and DHCP strange issue.

Hi,
i have this scenario: 1 WLC 2100 and two LW AP 3500 connected. If the access points are connected via external switch evrything works well - AP and Clients get IP address from external DHCP and this is ok but when im connecting AP 3500 directly to one of ports on WLC i need to chceck in controller web Controller -> Advanced -> DHCP -> Enable DHCP proxy - after that AP get IP addres and clients get too but ip is assigned from external dhcp but the gateway is set as controller IP address (!!!) so clients not works. I want to configure access points connected directly do WLC.
I have small setup and i have configured all in the one vlan - management dla users are in the same vlan.
And the second is - for what usage is internal DHCP server - and how to use it?

When "Enable DHCP Proxy" is not enabled tha LW AP 3500 cannot get IP address if it is connected directly to LWC... when i add this option then on both LW AP 3500 - one connected to WLC and second directly to switch give me DHCP address from external DHCP but gateway sets as LWC management IP.
I made test - connected client witout "Enable DHCP Proxy":
Client IP 192.168.1.201 (correct in dhcp server logs), default GW 192.168.1.1 (correct gateway for this DHCP) correct dnses and in windws ipconfig i see "Server DHCP 192.168.1.1" all is correct.
Disconnected client and clicked "Enable DHCP Proxy":
Client IP 192.168.1.201 (correct in dhcp server logs), default GW  192.168.1.252 incorrect gateway - ip of WLC management interface) correct dnses and in windws  ipconfig i see "Server DHCP 1.1.1.1" that shows that WLC modified DHCP packets... but what it try to set default GW as WLC?
WLC data:
Software Version

I can attach screenshots and any other configutation if you need.

  • WLC 5508 Internal DHCP server issues

    Hi,
I am hoping to get your feedback around the dhcp issues I am facing with Two Centrally Switched Wireless LANs. I have tried to explain the setup and the problems below and would appreciate it if anyone can suggest a solution for the problems I am facing:
    The setup is as follows:
    - I have a WLC 5508 which has been configured with 4 SSIDs, out of which 2 are using Central Authentication and Switching.
    - I have an LWAP connected to the WLC in HREAP mode.
    - WLC is configured as the DHCP server for clients connecting to the SSID 'Guest'. For the rest, I am using external dhcp server.
    - Only one scope for Guest Interface is setup on the WLC.
    Problems:
    1. As far as I know, for WLC to act as internal dhcp server, it is mandatory to have the proxy enabled, but the Clients connecting to SSID 'Internet' are
unable to get an ip address from the external dhcp server, if dhcp proxy is enabled on the WLC. If i disable the proxy, it all works fine.
    2. DHCP does not release the ip addresses assigned to clients even after they are logged out.
    3. If a machine which was earlier connected to 'Guest' SSID connects to the 'Internet' SSID, it requests the same ip it was assigned by the WLC which it was assigned under 'Guest', but gets tagged with the Vlan configured on the management interface.

    Hi All,
I have a similar issue where Wireless clients are not receiving automatic addressing from an internal DHCP server. I have multiple interfaces configured on the WLC which are connected to separate VLANS. The manually specified DHCP primary server entry is the same on all interfaces. Some clients are able to authenticate and receive automatic IP configuration but some clients are failing the address assignment process. I have checked connectivity between the WLC and DHCP server, this is confirmed as working. When I carry out a "debug dhcp packet enable", I get the following outputs which seems as if the DHCP discover request from the client is skipped. Your thoughts and inputs on this are appreciated.

  • WLC 5508 and IPv6 strange problem

    Hi All,
I recently migrated APs from a 4400 to 5508 which had the 7.4 code and encountered an issue that I haven't
see before, in short the APs would never join the 5508 even when the selction rules said it should.
The AP would get a discovery response from both controllers and even though the 4400 had 98 APs attached
and the 5508 just 1 and a factory reset was made on the AP, it would always join the 4400.
A packet capture showed that the first CAPWAP address from the 5508 was always an IPv6 whilst the 4400
always sent IPv4 CAPWAP control adressess, disabling the global IPv6 option on the 5508 ensured that the the first CAPWAP control
address was now an IPv4 and the AP then happily joined the controller, IPv6 addresses were still showing up in the discovery responses
but since it was no longer the first one in the packet the AP didn't mind.
Anyone else seen this kind of behaviour before ?

That is weird because I have done many remotely with console access also. The image takes 35-40 minutes to complete so if you reboot the WLC within that time period, the FUS didn't complete. It will seem like the WLC is down, but it truly is until it completes.

  • Diifference between WLC 2100 and 4400 and 5500

    Hi
what is the difference between wire lan controllers(WLAN) 2100 and 4400 and 5500.

    Hello syed
    Cisco 5500 Series Controllers:
The Cisco 5500 Series Wireless LAN Controller is currently available in one model: 5508. The 5508 controller supports up to 250 lightweight access points and 7000 wireless clients (or 5000 wireless clients and 2500 RFID tags when using the client location feature), making it ideal for large enterprises and high-density applications.
    Cisco 4400 Series Controllers:
Because the Cisco 4400 Series Wireless LAN Controller supports 802.11a/b/g and the IEEE 802.11n draft 2.0 standard, organizations can deploy the solution that best meets their individual requirements. Organizations can offer robust coverage with 802.11 a/b/g or deliver greater performance with 5x the throughput and unprecedented reliability using 802.11n and Cisco's Next-Generation Wireless Solutions and Cisco Enterprise Wireless Mesh.
The Cisco 4400 Series Wireless LAN Controller is available in two models. The Cisco 4402 Wireless LAN Controller with two 1 GB Ethernet ports comes in configurations that support 12, 25, and 50 access points. The Cisco 4404 Wireless LAN Controller with four 1 GB Ethernet ports supports 100 access points. The Cisco 4402 controller provides one expansion slot. The Cisco 4404 controller provides two expansion slots that can be used to add VPN termination.
    Cisco 2100 Series Controllers:
These controllers are part of a Payment Card Industry (PCI) certified architecture, and are well suited for retail customers who deploy transactional data applications such as scanners and kiosks. With performance up to 100 Mbps, the Cisco 2100 Series Wireless LAN Controllers also enable small and medium branch offices to deploy collaboration applications such as guest access and mobile voice.

  • Drag and Drop Strange Issue

I am preparing a drag and drop and everything works fine except that one of the item  disappears when I drop it at the drop area.
I have recreated the wizard multiple times and am at loss what to do here or what is the problem?

    Hi
    Thank you for using
Microsoft Office for IT Professionals Forums.
From your description, we can follow these Method to troubleshoot.
    Method A
Start outlook in Safe Mode, Press and hold the
CTRL key, and then click Outlook program
If the problem does not occur in the safe mode, this issue might be related to some third-party add-ins in the Outlook program, we can try to disable
    them.
    Method B
We can try to create a new profile in Microsoft Office Outlook 2010 to test the issue, follow these steps:
    1.
    Exit Outlook.
    2.
Go to Start > Control Panel, click or double-click Mail.
    3.
Click Show Profiles. Choose Prompt for a profile to be used.
    4.
    Click Add.
    5.
Type a name for the profile, and then click OK.
    6.
Highlight the profile, and choose Properties. Then Email Accounts..., add your email account in the profile.
    7.
Start Outlook, and choose this new profile.
If this problem does not occur in the new Outlook profile, the old Outlook profile is corrupted. We can delete that and use a new Outlook profile.

  • WLC "secret" and DHCP-3-BIND error

    Gday Everyone,
Been getting this error a lot recently, but have not found much help. Any ideas,

*apfProbeThread: : %LOG-3-Q_IND: passwd_store.c:470 Cannot retrieve secret from store -- integrity check failed.

*apfProbeThread:: %LOG-3-Q_IND: passwd_store.c:470 Cannot retrieve secret from store -- integrity check failed. [...It occurred 17 times.!]
    Thank you,

I think the DHCP BIND is typically seen when you have the service-port set for DHCP and it isn't getting an address. Should be able to get rid of the error by configuring some out-of-band IP address on the service port.
The other errors however, I've never seen. I suggest you call TAC.
Is it just an error message you see in the logs, or does it appear to correlate to some noticeable symptom?

  • Issue in connecting to WLC 2100 via switch

Hi there,    I am trying to setup my lap with a new WLC 2100. but failed to connect to the WLC via second switch.
In WLC 2100,  fa0/2 connect to the second switch, Fa0/1 connect to PC.
In second switch 3560, it's fa0/2  connect to the WLC as trunk port. port fa0/1 is in vlan 1
Management int ip in WLC is 192.168.1.1  in VLAN 1 assoicarted with port is fa0/1,   the PC ip is 192.168.1.2.
When PC connect via fa0/1 in WLC, I can ping 192.168.1.1 from PC.  but connect PC to fa0/1 in 3560, no reply.
To my understanding, fa0/2 in WLC is trunk port by default and the vlan1 is allowed, since fa0/2 in 3560 also configured trunk, there is no reason, why I can not ping the WLC.   any suggestion ?

  • DHCP Error with WLC 2504 and Aironet 2600 setup across subnets

    Hey guys
I have just setup a new WLC 2504 controller to manage a WiFi service that will span 6 geographic locations.  The local networks at each location are on different subnets (all 192.168.x.x) and are linked up via IPSEC VPN links, and there is Active Directory spanning the sites, with DNS and DHCP servers running at each location.
I tested the WLC at our main office with a single AP, and it worked fine.  The AP set itself up, and wireless devices connect with no probs. Great!  Yesterday I headed out to one of our remote sites, and connected an AP to their network - and that seemed to work fine too.  Within a few minutes I was able to see the WiFi network I'd setup, and my smartphone connected to it straight away (as I'd rpeviously connected at the main office), so I was pretty happy that all was working well.
This morning however I've had notification that wifi performance at the remote site isn't great.  I've got someone to check their ip address, and I've found that their IP address and default gateway match the LAN at the main office where the WLC is based - NOT the LAN where the wireless client is.  Obvioulsy this is not ideal!
So I guess my question is, what have I done wrong?  (I guess I HAVE done something wrong!?).  And how can I get wireless clients at remote sites to pick up an IP from the DHCP server at THEIR site?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hello Tim,
What mode your APs are in? Local mode? or FlexConnect mode?
If local mode, then all the traffic will be tunnelled to the WLC and they'll be same as if you are connecting from the WLC location.
If you use FlexConnect APs (which is recommended for remote sites) you can configure FlexConnect groups on the WLC and add each location in a specific group. In that group you can decide what VLAN the users should be in.
Check this link for FlexConnect group configuration

Are you watching this content though iCloud or though from iTunes on your local computer?  If it is from iCloud have you tried downloading the content to iTunes and watching it on ATV from that source to see if it still happens?  This is geerally a much more reliable way to view the content.  Easer to fast forward and rewind too.
    - I have a stable internet connection
    Clearlly you don't
    >(Ive tested on other devices)
Which does not tell you anything about the specific connnection from ATV to iCloud.
    >I am able to stream Netflix problem free from my AppleTV without so much as a hicup
Again which does not tell you anything about the specific connnection from ATV to iCloud.
    >- I am able to download the episodes to my phone, ipad, and computer without any issues
Again which does not tell you anything about the specific connnection from ATV to iCloud.  It does remove your ISP throattly traffice as a possible cause though.  So that is good.
Have you checked your wireless rounter?  Tried doing the factory restor on it?  Upgrading it's firmware?  Is it and or ATV getting extreamly hot when this problme happens?

  • WLC DHCP & VLAN issue

    Hello,
I configured on my WLC 5508 a new Interface & VLAN . The WLC act as DHCP Proxy.
I enabled also Flex Connect local switching . Then I removed on my Switch under the
VLAN settings the IP helper because as I know the WLC act as  IP helper.
What is still not clear for me is where I have to insert the DHCP server adress
on my WLC controller. Must I insert the DHCP server IP under my management Interface
or where I have to enter the DHCP server IP.
I tested this with the new VLAN interface and added the DHCP server IP but without success.
    Thanks for help.
    Regards

    Hi,
I addedd an IP helper under the L3 configuration without success. Same, WLAN clients don´t get an IP .
    I configured following:
add a new VLAN into the switch with layer 3 and addedd IP helper on the L3 switch.
add the VLAN into the WLC controller wth a new SSID and Interface for this VLAN.
Enabled Flex Connect under the SSID.
Done a test with a wired client direct on a switch without problems.
If I try to connect over the WLAN then the client don´t get an IP.
    Regards

  • Strange Issue With QIP 7100 STB and Sony Bravia TV

I am having a strange issue with a 27" Sony Bravia Television connected to a Motorola QIP 7100 HD STB.When viewing a non HD channel the television input number display, resolution display, picture mode display and clock come on and off every few seconds. The issue stops when I tune in to an HD channel. If I return to a non HD channel the issue reappears. I am new to FIOS from Directv where I did not experience this. The television is connected to the STB via HDMI. Everything else seems fine except for picture stuttering that I am getting on all of televisions but I'll save that issue for a separate thread. I tried removing the TV remote to no avail and changing the batteries in both the FIOS and TV remote with no success either. This is a very annoying issue and I feel that it must be caused by the STB. I was wondering if anyone experienced anything similar to this and if they were able to correct the issue. I would greatly appreciate any assistance. Thank you and Happy New Year.

It is possible that your Sony doesn't support the mode the STB is set to for SD (some HDMI TV inputs don't support all formats that the STB can output).
Have you tried going to the STB settings menu and under Video Settings played with the various options for 4:3 override?  This setting controls the STB output for SD and lets you set 480i, 480p, and OFF (also STRETCH at least on some firmware version).  In the OFF setting the STB upconverts your SD to whatever the HD resolution is set for - 1080i or 720p.
    Hope that solves your issue.

  • Strange Issue with Guided Nav and filters

    Hi All,
I am have a very strange issue with the guided navigation.
I created an answer in BI and when I look at 'Display Results' in Answers everything shows up fine.
    SELECT LU_PRODUCT.MAJOR saw_0, case WHEN LU_ACCOUNT.TERMMATDATE BETWEEN current_date-1 AND current_date+29 then '30 Days' WHEN LU_ACCOUNT.TERMMATDATE BETWEEN current_date+30 AND current_date+59 then '60 Days' WHEN LU_ACCOUNT.TERMMATDATE BETWEEN current_date+60 AND current_date+89 then '90 Days' else ' > 90 Days' end saw_1, LU_ACCOUNT.ACCTNBR saw_2, FA_ACCTBAL.NOTEBAL saw_3, (FA_ACCTINT_RATEBAND.NOTEBALXINTRATE)/FA_ACCTINT_RATEBAND.NOTEBAL*100 saw_4, REPORT_SUM(saw_3 BY ), AGGREGATE(saw_4 BY ) FROM LDW WHERE (FA_ACCTBAL.EFFDATE = CURRENT_DATE-1) AND (FA_ACCTBAL.NOTEBAL > 0) AND *(LU_ACCOUNT.TERMMATDATE >= current_date-1) AND (LU_ACCOUNT.TERMMATDATE <= current_date+89)* ORDER BY saw_0, saw_1, saw_2
    Type=Report

But when I link to this answer via guided navigation the filter seems to change??
    SELECT LU_PRODUCT.MAJOR saw_0, case WHEN LU_ACCOUNT.TERMMATDATE BETWEEN current_date-1 AND current_date+29 then '30 Days' WHEN LU_ACCOUNT.TERMMATDATE BETWEEN current_date+30 AND current_date+59 then '60 Days' WHEN LU_ACCOUNT.TERMMATDATE BETWEEN current_date+60 AND current_date+89 then '90 Days' else ' > 90 Days' end saw_1, LU_ACCOUNT.ACCTNBR saw_2, FA_ACCTBAL.NOTEBAL saw_3, (FA_ACCTINT_RATEBAND.NOTEBALXINTRATE)/FA_ACCTINT_RATEBAND.NOTEBAL*100 saw_4, REPORT_SUM(saw_3 BY ), AGGREGATE(saw_4 BY ) FROM LDW WHERE (LU_PRODUCT.MAJOR = 'CML') AND (FA_ACCTBAL.EFFDATE = CURRENT_DATE-1) AND (FA_ACCTBAL.NOTEBAL > 0) AND *(LU_ACCOUNT.TERMMATDATE >= CURRENT_DATE-1) AND (LU_ACCOUNT.TERMMATDATE >= CURRENT_DATE-1)* ORDER BY saw_0, saw_1, saw_2

I am just it is going to the same report. Any ideas on why this is happening??
    Thanks

    Yes,
these are simply two different reports, as you can see from the filters...

  • Strange issue with USB mouse and USB headset.

    Good day everyone.
I was experiencing a rather strange issue with my mouse and headset(both USB).
I am using KDE and ALSA, if that matters.
They are working just fine, but sometimes, when I try to lower\raise volume, my mouse derps out. I can move it around, but I can't click on anything(sometimes though, I can click on stuff in window that was active before and sometimes only on KDE panel) until I re-plug my headset. Then, nothing can use my headset until I reboot.
    Anybody ever had that problem?

I've had similar problems for some time now. Unfortunately, I don't know what the issue is either, but perhaps we can come up with some setup similarities and narrow it down. I have similar trouble with just alsa or with pulseaudio, so that's not it. It is unrelated to the DE, as it happened for me in both gnome 2 and xfce 4. It is not related to the machine either, as the same quirks occur in other machines with the same headset. I have had inconclusive results with downgrading to kernel26-lts, the ancient kernel. I thought at some point it messed up and I was sure the older kernel didnt help, but after trying recently-ish, I had no trouble for days -- until I found that I didn't have trouble on the main kernel either. ... then a few days later, it showed up again. Very irritating!
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=122475
Does my old thread sound like your issue somewhat?
Essentially, at times, if the headset (wireless) is changed into a different power state (unplugged/plugged) or the mic state is toggled (mute/unmute), things that could be clicked on normally cant unless theyre in the window already focused -- mostly.
What headset are you using? 32 or 64 bit arch? Have you tried downgrading to kernel26-lts?
