WLC 2504 Guest Wifi login Page

Hi
Need some help. I have setup guest access on the controller and this is not working at the moment.
DHCP server setup on the controller for the Guest users.
You are able to connect (get ip address from controller) and the browser gets redirected to 1.1.1.1 but then page can not be displayed instead of the login page.
Need to know how to fix this.
Regards
Chris

George:
Thank you for the ratiing.
For this issue, they are getting the web-page and after providing the credentials it is redirecting to the original page.
If there is no DNS available so how the host will resolve the URL IP in order to open the web-page?
This is why I suggested to check DNS.
From the link I posted above I quote:
...........The next step in the process is DNS  resolution of the URL in the web browser. When a WLAN client connects to  a WLAN configured for web authentication, the client obtains an IP  address from the DHCP server. The user opens a web browser and enters a  website address. The client then performs the DNS resolution to obtain  the IP address of the website. Now, when the client tries to reach the  website, the WLC intercepts the HTTP Get session of the client and  redirects the user to the web authentication login page. Therefore, ensure that the client is able to perform DNS resolution for the redirection to work. On Windows, choose Start > Run, enter CMD in order to open a command window, and do a “nslookup www.cisco.com" and see if the IP address comes back. ........
If you are using a URL for the virutal interface then lack of DNS will not show you the credentials page at the first place.
If no URL for virutal interface and you get auth page but after entering the credentials it does not successfully redirect one of the main reasons is DNS problem.
You can still comment on this if you see it not accurate.

Amjad

    Hi,
Is the WLC connected to a Cisco Switch or 3rd party switch ?
For trouble shooting purposes if you disable security are the wireless clients able to go out to the internet ?
If you are workign with VLANS or different subnet on the WLC have you configured the switch with a trunk port and set the same native vlan or untagged vlan as the WLC and make sure that the guest vlan from the switch is able to go out to the internet ?

  • WLC 2504 - French characters for guest web login page

    Good day,
I have recently installed a WLC 2504 and I have the following issue:
When I modify the text for the web login page (Under security/Web Auth/Web Auth page), if I use french caracters such as (é, è, à, etc...) in the message body, it does not show up correctly on users computers. As we're a bilingual country, I must put a bilingual text message. Are there any settings or workaround out there to rectify this?
    We're on version 7.2.103.0
    Thanks,
    Eric

Thanks Scott, I'll have a look at the documentation.
Right after sending this post, I tried typing the actual HTML code for the character instead and it seems to be working. I'm curious about custom webauth page, we may be able to customize it more than we thought we could do.
    Cheers,
    Eric

  • WLAN Guest Acces login Page Http vs Https

    Hello,
today i had made some Tests with the Guest Access Feature on an WLC 4402 Release 4.2.
During the Test i have noticed that the Login Page only opens when i use a http Adress. By using a https Adress the login Page was not shown. Is this a normal behavior?
    Thank you and best Regards

It might be that you have http:// enabled for admin access to your controller. Make the admin access https:// only, and your guest web auth page will also be https://

  • WLC 2504, guest user life time

                       Hi ,
Cant we create a guest user login with more than 30 days lifetime? In the lifetime field we can enter maximum 99 but it only allows up to 30
                            any idea?
                        Thanks.

Hi, no the limit is 30days if the user is created in the WLC.
Info from the user guide = Range: 5 minutes to 30 days
You'd configure a longer lifetime if you use the WCS/NCS.
If you configure 90 days via the WCS/NCS you also see on the WLC 30days but the WCS/NCS will update this unitil the 90days are over.
    Kind regards,

  • E4200 Guest SSID Login page fails

    Config:
Netgear ProSafe Gigabit Router is my DHCP Server -- The entire home net work is on the same subnet (192.168.15.xxx)
Linksys E4200 configured as an access point ONLY -- wired connection -- static IP assigned -- DHCP server turned off
Linksys WRT610N configured as an access point ONLY  -- wired connection -- static IP assigned -- DHCP server turned off
    3 -- 5 port gigabit switches
    1 -- 8 port gigabit switch
No more than two switches between any two wired devices
Both Linksys access points have the same SSID and WPA2 security phrase -- total of 4 radios
Nonoverlapping channels are selected on both the 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz radio to minimize interference
All computers are running Windows 7 Professional 64bit with all the latest updates
Two iPhones and one iPad also access the network
All LAN and WAN connectivity is working as designed
    Problem:
    guest SSID is turned on
    password is established
All devices will connect to the guest SSID and the E4200 is assigning an ip address to the device in the 192.168.33.xxx range which is what it's supposed to do.
When I open a web browser, I am not automatically redirected to the Cisco Login Page. If I enter 192.168.33.1 as the URL, the login screen is presented. I enter the password I have created in the guest admin page on the wireless guest tab.  I then see a blank page and a URL of 192.168.33.1/guestnetwork.asp. THIS IS WHERE I GET STUCK. THE ONLY WAY TO EVER SEE THE LOGIN PAGE AGAIN IS TO REBOOT THE E4200, otherwise you just get unable to connect messages when opening web browsers and the wireless status icon in the system tray shows a yellow exclamation mark.
I successfully connect to the guest SSID but I do not get access to the internet. When I type ipconfig, I see that the DNS is set to 192.168.33.1 which does not exist on my network. I assume there's some internal NAT magic that is supposed to happen in the E4200 to bridge me over to my 192.168.15.xxx network but it doesn't seem to be happening.
At the beginning of the call I specifically asked them if the E4200 must be the DHCP server in order for the guest SSID feature to work and they said no. 1.5 hours later they had no answers so they told me that it wasn't working because the E4200 was not the DHCP server. The documentation says nothing about a DHCP requirement for guest AP service. Linksys support further could not answer what you would do if you needed more than one AP with guest service enabled.
It seems like this is a firmware issue but it may be the guest SSID service requires the E4200 to also act as the DHCP server. Can anyone shed any light on whether this is a bug or if the router/AP is working as designed?
    Thanks,
(Mod note: Edited for guideline compliance.)

Yes the E4200 must have DHCP turned on in order to pass out IP's to your Guest Network.  No DHCP, no Guest Network.

  • Cannot load Xfinity WiFi login page

Sometimes I'm out and about and need to get online. Now that I have Comcast I look for Xfinity Hotspots, however neither my phone nor my laptop will load the login page when I connect to the hotspot. I try to navigate manually (wifilogin.xfinity.com or wifi.comcsst.com for example) but it still doesn't work. Is it me, is it my browser, is it the hotspots? How do I fix this?

You only need to logon once, then it remembers your MAC address to logon automatically.  If your visiting non Comcast area's with sharing arrangements to access cablewifi spots, then you might need to logon with your Comcast credentials.
To confirm you devices are registered by the xfinitywifi system, and delete devices tagged to your account go to your account on comcast.net and go to my account / my services / xfinity internet.  There you will find a section to manage your devices for hotspot access.  Review the registered devices, clear out ones you no longer have and your should be good to go.  If you clear the complete list, then once you connect to xfinitywifi, you will be prompted to logon, again that is only needed once.
There is also a 5 or 6 device limit, so if your list is full and your current devices are not listed, then things need to be cleaned up.

  • No Guest web Login Page

I have setup an E1000 with no errors. Using a Win7 laptop, I can access both connections. Using  XP laptops people cannot use my guest account. They connect but the Cisco welcome screen asking for the password never displays. What am I doing wrong?

With an E1500 and the guest account enabled: when guest (using MAC) connects to the Guest account, no login screen pops up after opening Safari. There is a message of "can't  access server" (or something like that).
Have checked the Guest account settings and they appear correct.
The same MAC machine can access the secure account without a problem. Have also tried using an iTouch, same results.
These device do get an IP address assigned (192.168.33.xx) but we do not see a DNS or GW assignment. I assume the DNS/GW addresses don't get assigned till the password is entered, correct?

  • Ipad wifi login page

When I am at school and attept to get onto safari, That page comes up from the bottom of the screen (The same one that comes onto my iphone 4) that prompts me to put in my username and password. I do that, and push done, but it leaves that page up, instead of sliding back down like it does on my iphone. So even though I am verifying myself, if i want to get out of that page, I only have the option of pressing cancel in the top right corner. There is no place on the top for my to type in a webpage or anything. I thought it was a problem with the ipad at first, but today in one of my classes, a girl had an ipad 2 as well, and I asked her what happens. She logged in and when she pressed ok (or done..whatever propts that you have put in your info) the screen slid down, and it showed that she was connected to the wifi. Is there something I can do to fix this?

  • Mavericks - Safari WiFi login window on startup

When I boot up my MBP, a Safari window with my apartment's WiFi login page opens automatically. It's not a full-blown Safari window, but it seems it's a "feature" for connecting to WiFi networks that require login credentials (similar to some hotels/public networks that require you to pass through a page before you can actually access the Internet). The window has a button in the bottom right corner that says "Cancel" until you log in, at which point it says "Done" and allows you to close the window once the login has occurred.
Anyways, I am annoyed by the number of times I have to enter in the same info into this window (my network requires it nearly every time I wake my MBP up from sleep; it's a nightmare). If any of you are familiar with this login window, is there a way to set up autofill? I'm not sure where to begin as the window doesn't show a URL or anything so I can't really manually enter it into the autofill settings. Even a setting to disable the window from popping up automatically might be helpful so I could just log in through the browser and more easily setup autofill. If any of you are familiar with this feature, your help would greatly be appreciated.
BTW, this didn't happen until I upgrade to Mavericks. At first it was handy to make sure I connected to the network first thing when my computer booted up, but now it's popping up constantly and you can't minimize it until you decide either to cancel the network login or fill out the form. I haven't been able to find a setting for it, and it's driving me crazy!

  • How-do-i-configure-guest-wifi-access-using-2504-wlc-fortigate-utm-l3-device

    Dear All
I have a 2504 Wireless Controller with multiple radios attached. I currently have a "private" WLAN configured (taking ip from windows server based DHCP of Range 192.1681.0/24 ) and working, but I need to add a Guest/Public WLAN which should take the IP from Other DHCP Configured on Fortigate UTM of range 172.16.0.0/24.
We have one SG300 switch in the office and the rest are basic switches.
    Our firewall/router is a Fortigate UTM 240D
Find the attached network diagram for the issue.
Is there a SIMPLE way to enabling guest access that doesn't require VLANS (or are VLANS easier than I'm making them)?
    Thanks.

  • Unable to load login page for university wifi

I am in France, using the university wifi system (de la CROUS). I have a macbook from 2008 running Leopard 10.5 that connects perfectly (Safari), loads the login page and let's me surf normally. I now have a new macbook pro (2011) running Lion. It also connects to the wifi without a problem (Safari), but the login page will not load. I've checked all the settings I can find and verified that they're the same as my macbook. I've cleared the Safari cache and tried enabling/disabling pop-ups. The graphic for the login page loaded once, but then timed out. I have been trying for almost a week. I have went to see the people in charge of the connection, but no one there seems to know anything about macs (it's France, after all). Any thoughts? Any and all help with appreciated!

I know for sure that both are up to date.
Update: I downloaded firefox by tethering my phone and i AM able to access and login to the system using firefox. the problem then lies with safari. i tried google chrome and has the same problem. has anyone else encountered this issue with safari?

On windows XP or linux have a MAC adress Change function  allow 00 mac adress and another normal mac adress range. On windows 8.1 all Mac changer program dont work. This 2,6,A,E on second adress are not vaild Mac adress. You simply can not use normal MAC
addresses on windows 8.1.When i connect the usb the Pc windows 8.1 recognizes the adapter but the default  driver and the downloaded ralink driver the same problem. On windows xp the current driver works perfectly have (Local Mac Network Adress) funktion

The 3. problem im tested in virtualbox the windows 7 and 8.1 on 8.1 (on the blue wifi platform) not show correctly the signal strengh. On windows 7 show this correctly. The windows 7-8.1 Configure/advanced the advanced options on Ralink 3070 the default (windows

    Hi,
For changing the MAC address for Windows 7 is designed with some limitation, we cannot get over it. Thanks for your understanding.
Under Windows 7, the possible range of spoofed addresses for wireless adapters that can be set is limited.  To be used by Windows 7, a spoofed MAC address should have 0 as a least significant bit (unicast) and 1 as a second least significant
bit (locally administered) in the second nibble.  Thus possible values for the second nibble are limited to 2, 6, A and E.
    In other words
    MAC address:  “XY-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX” “X” can be anything hexadecimal.  The hexadecimal “Y”, written in binary format, is  Y:  “kmnp”,  where “p” is the least significant bit;
    p=0 --> unicast;
    p=1 --> multicast;
    n=0 --> globally assigned MAC;
    n=1 --> locally administered;
    So, actually MAC can be changed  to any combination in which p=0 and n=1;
    “Y” can be 2, 6, A or E.
So the possible MAC addresses in Windows 7 for wireless adapters:
    X2-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
    X6-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
    XA-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
    XE-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX

  • Certificate problem (webauth and WLC/WCS login pages)

    Hello,
When I try to web in to the WCS or the WLC controls I get a message saying that the certificate could not be verified. I can add it into the trusted CA on IE6 but the message will still pop up anyway. It also says "The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site".
This problem is also happening for the WebAuth login page. This is more critical for me, as we have two WLANs which require WebAuth. When the clients use IE6 or Firefox it's not an issue, but when using IE7 it seems to randomly drop their connection due to the certificate being viewed as 'invalid' by the browser, forcing them to reauthenticate. I need to get this figured out and resolved so that the wireless webauth network is more reliable - I can't expect people to not upgrade to IE7.
Has anyone managed to get through this problem without purchasing a valid certificate from a CA like Verisign? Let me know please!
    Thanks,
    Jeff
P.S. My WCS is version 4.0.97.0 and I just upgraded my WLCs to 4.0.217.0 with plans to upgrade to the new 4.1.171.0 in the next week.

Recieved this from TAC which may play into your issue.
The description of the Microsoft post-login bug is as follows but we have the code with this fix in the attached:
There is known bug filed with Microsoft in reference to the tag. There
is also one with Netscape. The work-around is below:
The Pragma statement fails in IE because of the way IE caches files.
There is a 64K buffer that must be filled before a page is cached in
IE. The problem is that the vast majority of the pages using the Pragma
statement put it between the HEAD tags.
The HEAD loads and the Pragma comes into play. The browser gets the go
ahead to not cache the page, however there is not yet a page to not
cache. Since the page hasn't filled the 64K buffer, there's no page so
the Pragma is ignored. Thus...the page is cached.
The solution is to play to the buffer. If you're really serious about
the Pragma working, place another set of HEAD tags at the bottom of the
document, before the end HTML tag and re-enter the Pragma. This is a
suggestion straight from Microsoft Support. The page would look like
    this:
    Text in the Browser Window
