WLC 4400 series OID for Current Clients

Can someone advise what is the OID for the number of current clients for the WLC 4400 series appliance.
Thanks.

Based on the results of your walk, I would say it's reports all of the instances on that particular controller...and I say this because only one instance is reported. I would think that if you have multiple WLANS on that WLC, you would get multiple instances reported back, so, (maybe, like you) I'm confused by the description in the MIB object where it states:
"No of Mobile Stations currently associated with the WLAN."
which to me looks like "the WLAN" is used in the singular.
At this point, I think the best thing to do would be to open a TAC case with all of this info, and we can get with our developers for confirmation.
Hope this has been somewhat helpful, and please rate these posts.
Thanks,
-Joe

  • 5508 WLC - need MIB/OIDs for current client associations

    We installed 5508 controllers in multiple locations.  We have an existing SNMP mangement system and syslog that will work fine with these 5508's.  We are having issues figuring out an OID that reports current "unique" client associations (with a timestamp/MAC address/IP Address/AP Name/Protocol and 802.11 state).
    We tried using the NCS reports (every 60 seconds) but, that only gives a historical view of client assocations (and 60 individual emails in an hour).  We would like to have a better reporting technique to show live data with a refresh of 60 seconds of current associated "unique" clinets and what AP they are connected too.  Parsing out historical data in a .CSV format is really painful and inefficient
    Has anyone attempted anything like this?  Would anyone know a good MIB/OID to use for something like this?
    Thanks,
    Nick

  • IDS feature on WLC 4400 series

    Hi Everyone,
    I'd like to ask about the IDS feature on WLC 4400 series.
    What will the WLC do if it detects an attack specified in the Standard IDS signature ? Will the WLC shutdown the client or just report it ?
    Thank you

    The intrusion-detection-system (IDS) signature engine on controllers and on the Cisco WCS automatically eliminates duplicate alerts for rogue access points, rogue clients, and IDS signatures that previously occurred when two or more access points detected the same attacker. Now instead of one IDS alert from each detecting access point, a single alert is generated for the attack.
    Intrusion detection, location, and containment preserve the integrity of wireless networks and sensitive corporate information. When an associated client sends malicious traffic, a Cisco wired IDS device detects the attack and sends shun requests to Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers, which then disassociate the client device.

    when i try to assocate the dhcp scope to wireless.guest.data interface using 192.168.255.1 which is the ip of the that interface it will not let me. I would have thought since i was using the interal dhcp that the .1 address would be the dhcp scope address also. i can assign 192.168.255.0 or 192.168.255.2(gateway)if i use .0 or .2 the dhcp request (discovery) process starts and then will forward to .2 (gateway) and never assign an address. the only thing that happens is that the client wireless interface will get 255.255.255.255 for a few seconds then go away.
    what i am trying to accomplish is to connect the wlc port 2 directly to a pix 506 which goes to the internet so the guest traffice is not on our vlan.
    any other suggestions on guest vlans would be appricated....

    Hi All,
    Does anybody know what software do they use for web server ? Is it something like Apache or something else ?

    Its just a basic ssl certificate.  You need to convert it to a pem in order to upload it to the WLC.  Here is a doc that I use.  You can use Apache or Microsoft, as it doesn't matter since you need to convert it.

  • 4400 WLC Layer 3 Authentication Status for WLAN Clients

    We have 3 4400 series WLC's(wireless LAN controllers). Two 4404 WLC's are on the "inside" of our network and all AP's (access points) on our network use these two WLC's as the primary or secondary controller.  The 4402 WLC Anchor controller resides in our DMZ and is used for WLANs that are more oriented for guest usage.  These guest WLANs are configured on the inside controllers also, but are "anchored" to the 4402.  On the anchor controller we are using layer 3 Web Authentication for the WLAN "Guest".  This WLAN uses the internal web-auth page within the anchor controller and a username/password combo that is locally defined on the anchor controller.
    Functionally there is no issue.  Users connecting to the WLAN are presented with the web-auth page upon connecting to the WLAN and opening a web browser.  The issue is how the layer 3 authentication information is presented on the Monitor Clients page of the "inside" WLC's management screen as compared to the "anchor" WLC.
    For example, if we log in to the anchor controller and then click Monitor, then Client, then Change Filter and choose any WLAN requiring layer 3 authentication on the Anchor controller, there will be a list of all clients currently associated.  In the Column with the "Auth" heading it shows the Layer 3 Authentication status of the clients.  For example, if there are 15 clients associated to WLAN SSID "Guest", but only 5 of them have opened their web browsers and correctly logged in, then this will be correctly displayed.  The 5 who have logged in will show "Yes" and the other 10 will show "No" in the Auth column.
    Now...the problem...on the inside controllers...if we do the same thing (monitor, clients, filter for WLAN SSID "Guest"), all 15 will show "Yes" under the Auth column. In most cases the 15 clients will be distributed accross both controllers (maybe 6 on one, and 9 on the other WLC), but both inside controllers will display all clients as having a layer 3 authentication status of "Yes".  We have proven over and over that this is not accurate.  This is very inconvenient because the "Client Count" reports we run on the WCS server reflect the same information as the "inside" controllers.  The WSC reports will show all 15 as Authenticated and they are not.  We have proven many times that the anchor WLC is the only controller accuratly conveying this info.
    Also, the engineers who helped with our network install have reproduced the same behavior in a lab with an anchor and inside controller directly connected.  They suggested it may be a code bug with the 4400 series WLC.  We are running controller Software Version 6.0.188.0 on all 3 controllers.
    Please let me know what you think may be causing this issue.  Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

    Hi,
    We run version 7.0 on the WCS and WLCs but I thought I'd try the report and see what I got. The result is a line graph with the number of associated and authenticated clients superimposed. I'm not sure how useful a report of this nature is.
    It doesn't inspire confidence: when I specifiy the guest wireless SSID I get zero clients! I know there have been guest clients authenticated during the report period I spec'd.

  • WLC OID (snmp) for authenticated clients

    I know the OID for associated users 1.3.6.1.4.1.14179.2.1.1.1.38.
    But is there one for Authenticated clients? I am looking for the numbers similar to the one I can get from the report tools in WCS.
    I think the number of authenticated clients is a better number than using the associated client count when talking about guest WLAN's.
    Best regards,
    Steffen Lindemann

    Hi,
    yes there is. I have created a table with solarwinds for this but they represent or provide information in diffrent way.
    The table consist of
    >WLAN Profile
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.599.1.3.1.1.3
    This object specifies the WLAN Profile name
    this 802.11 wireless client is connected to.
    >Client Status
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.599.1.3.1.1.2
    The object that represents the current status of the client.
    >MobileStationUserName
    1.3.6.1.4.1.14179.2.1.4.1.3
    User Name , if any , of the Mobile Station. This would
    be non empty in case of Web Authentication and IPSec.
    >Client Protocol
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.599.1.3.1.1.6
    The 802.11 protocol type of the client.
    'dot11a' - The client is using 802.11a standard
    to connect to the access point (AP)
    >MobileStationIpAddress
    1.3.6.1.4.1.14179.2.1.4.1.2
    Ip address
    Well the Clinet status would be represted in num value:
    Client status:
    4 = associated
    6 = Probing
    8 = Disconnected
    Protocol:
    1 = 802.11a
    2 = 802.11b
    3 = 802.11g
    Hope this helps

  • Specific OID for A radio modules on 1200 series access points

    Is there a specific OID for A radio module cards of the following type:
    Flap - AIR-RM21A-A-K9
    Dipoles - AIR-RM22A-A-K9

    No switches in Cisco's current product line provide enough power to support both radio modules in the 1200 series. The (now optional) power injector for the 1200 will provide enough inline power for both radios, if that is an acceptible option.
    Cisco has plans for several switches that will be able to provide inline power to both radios, but I am not aware of ETA's on these.

    Besides the supported number of access points, what are the differences in features between the WLC 2000 and 4400 series?

    On the 2006, you have 4 ports on the back, that can support up to 3 AP's being directly connected, and the other port as your connection to the network, and it does not support LAG (Link AGgregation). The ports are 10/100M, and it can not be an anchor for a mobility group.
    On the 4400, you either have a 4402 or a 4404,the 2 has 2 Gig interfaces, and the 4404 has 4 Gig interfaces, you can not connect AP's directly to a 4400. Both 4400's will support LAG, and they can be used as anchors in a mobility group. Those are the big differences in them. They configure up the same, and interact with the wired and wireless networks the same.

  • WLC 4400 : some of the clients are stuck in 802.1x REQD ( Auth - no but status is Associated ) in PEM process

    Hi ,
    I have wlc 4400 with 1010 AP's wireless set-up.
    Everything is working fine but unfortunately , I am coming across with one issue that, clients are not getting authenticated.
    If I see the status of respective client  in WLC :
    status : Associated
    Auth : No
    Policy manager : 802.1X REQD
    I read about PEM ( Policy enforcement Module ) , as it is going through same procedure but policy manager should in " RUN " condition , Unfortunately it is not.
    how do i resolve this issue ?

    Hi Vinod,
    The 802.1X_REQD state would suggest that the client cannot complete L2 authentication.
    If possible, it would be helpful to collect the following debugs from the WLC while trying to connect the client:
    debug client
    debug aaa event enable
    Also, please attach the full text output of the command "show run-config" and let us know the WLAN through which the client should be connecting.
    Regards,
    Fede

  • SLDCHECK error-Check and maintain the SLD content for the current client

    Hi experts,
           I am trying to configure PI on QAS box and getting this error when I ran SLD check. This is the only warning/error I am getting in YELLOW and the other messages were in green so thinking that is ok.
    =============
       Calling function LCR_GET_OWN_BUSINESS_SYSTEM
       Retrieving data from the SLD server...
      No corresponding business system found for system NWQ      client 001
        => Check and maintain the SLD content for the current client
        Summary: Connection to SLD works technically, but the SLD content may need maintenance
       => Check and maintain the SLD data content

    I went through some threads and readiness check document but not able to get it resolved because I am a developer and not sure about exact steps. Please give me if you have any feedback and if there is admin jobs involved I will get BASIS help but it is totally my responsibilty to get the system up and running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Mithun,
        Let me know if there is any recent changes/Patching/Upgradatiions in your server....
    Perform Cacherefresh both in ABAP and JAVA Stacks..
    For ABAP level cache go to SXI_CACHE -> RUNTIME->START DELTACACHE REFRESH
    >>>>SXI_CACHE -> RUNTIME->COMPLETE CACHE REFRESH
    CPACACHE:
    For complete cache refresh u2013 http://<hostname>:<port>/CPACache/refresh?mode=full
    For delta cache refresh u2013 http://<hostname>:<port>/CPACache/refresh?mode=delta
    Please let me know if this doesnot resolve your issue.
    Cheers!!!!

  • LAG for two WLC 4400

    Hello  everyone,
    I installed for a client two  WLC4400 (one is used for redundancy).
    I wish I could make the aggregate links between these two  controllers to spread the load.
    In this configuration, there won't be primary and secondary controllers,
    APs  will be associated with one or the other WLC when they will be
    discovered and by the number of AP on each controller.
    Is this configuration possible?
    And how to do that?
    Thank you in advance,
    Adeline

    Hi,
    You don’t need aggregate links between the two controller to balance the load. Just let the access points discover both controllers and they will take care of the load balancing. The AP collects all information about the controllers they found during the discovery, and then choose the controller with the leased load. And, make sure that you don't configure primary and secundary controller on the APs, they will only load balance if they don't have this configured.
