Wlc 4404 upgrade software version

I have two wireless controllers ( software version 5.1.151.0 ) . Is this vesion supports AP 1142 N   .
also what is the required  version to support AP 1142 N .
If the controllers upgraded to new version , will it affect the APs license for existing software version or no .
regards,

But I would recommend you going to the latest 7.0.230.0.
Using this now.  During the upgrade from 7.0.220.0 to this version, I nearly had a heart attack!  The upgrade of the "ER" was fast, no worries.  The upgrade of the firmware, took AGES!  Next, when the WAPs rebooted, they downloaded and rebooted TWICE!

You shouldn't lose anything at all under normal circumstances, but you should be proactive and backup your iPad with iCloud (if you use iCloud only) or if you use iTunes, transfer purchases, backup and sync before you update your device.

  • WLC 4404 Upgraded to 7.0.235.3 (WPA HandShake Timeout) not availbale

    Greetings,
Just upgraded my Cisco 4404 WLC's to 7.0.235.3, the upgrade went just fine. My problem is when I either Telnet or SSH to my Lightweight AP's and run the "DOT11 WPA Handshake Timeout 1000" command the AP doesn't recognized this command. This is one of the reasons I upgrade my WLC's.I have several wireless printers that are passive and are heavily used and keep getting disassociated because they don't respond in time.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

that command is for IOS AP, not for the WLC.
    Q.    How do you change the Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) handshake timeout   value on a Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) through CLI? I know I can do this on   Cisco IOS® Access Points (APs) with the dot11 wpa handshake   timeout value command, but how do you   perform this on a WLC?
    A. The ability to configure the WPA-Handshake timeout through the WLCs was       integrated in software release 4.2 and later. You do not need this option in       earlier WLC software versions.
These commands can be used to change the WPA Handshake timeout:
        config advanced eap eapol-key-timeout
        config advanced eap eapol-key-retries
The default values continue to reflect the WLCs current       behavior.
       - the default value for eapol-key-timeout is 1 second.
       - the default value for eapol-key-retries is 2 retries
Note: On IOS APs, this setting is configurable with the dot11           wpa handshake command.

  • Wlc 4404 upgrade

Hi, looking for advice on which code to upgrade to. We have a wlc 4404 using mostly AIR-AP1231G-A-K9 access points. The current code is 4.2.130.0. We would like to use some of the 1141 APs and I understand they need at least 5.2. My plan would be to go to 6. I believe I need to go to 4.2.176.0 first and then to 6. The question would be what version of 6 would be the best?  Right now 6.0.182.0 (ED), 6.0.188.0 (ED), and 6.0.196.0 (ED) are available.

Well that is a tricky question and really depends on a lot of variables.  We have installs with all three versions of the software.  Currently I would have to say that 6.0.188.0 is one to try.  We have upgraded some clients to 6.0.196.0 because of issue with the 6.0.188..0, but again, it all depends what equipment you have and if you see any issues with the 6.0.188.0.  Some people I know have just went right to the 6.0.196.0 code and have not seen any issues.  The 6.x is still pretty new in my book, but like you already did..... review the caveats on the different versions and if you have a spare WLC,do some testing.

  • CUCM 8.5.1 to 8.6.2 Upgrade Software Version license is missing.

We upgraded a demo system which was running CUCM 8.5 to Version 8.6.2 as a dry run before installing our actual 8.6.2 servers and we can no longer register phones.  The GUI tells us " Software Version license is missing. Service will not start. Please upload SW Feature license file.
The Licence Unit Report shows 150 Units Authorized and 26 in use for the Phone License Feature -  Status shows Demo. It also shows 3 Units Authorized and 1 in use for the CCM Node License Feature - Status also shows "Demo".  The Software License Version has no SW Version info and its status shows "MISSING".
We would sure like to be comfortable with the process before diving in head first.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • How can I upgrade Software version 4.2.1 so that the Wondows Data Execution Prevention does not closr iTunes?

Hi I am trying to add some CD content to my iPod. Windows Data Execution Prevention closes itunes even though I have enanbled the iTunes exception. Is there an upgrade fro software version 4.2.1
    which addresses this problem?

    Welcome to the discussions,
you will lose your all music you did not buy it in the iTunes Store. The rest can be copied to the new computer by using "transfer purchases" from the File menu in iTunes.
Disable autosync in iTunes on the new computer before you connect, set up your account, authorize in the Store menu and set up at least one contact and event on the new computer, to be able to merge data after your device got erased during the first sync.
After transferring your purchases, back up manually by using "backup" from the same menu.
See what's included in the backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
After your device got wiped during the sync process, restore from that backup again.
It may be useful to create an own user account on the computer, to be sure the content from your ipod will have it's own iTunes library.

    Hey
Does anyone knows or recommend the best stable bug free (or less bugs) software version for Cisco controllers models 5508's and WISM2 .

If you have Windows 8 machines, 7.3.101.0.
    If you don't, then 7.2.111.3.
Otherwise, you can wait for the 7.4.X to be published in the next few weeks.

addition to Sandeep & Scotts feedback,
When you do the upgrade, make sure your 5508 FUS also get upgraded to latest version 1.9.0.0. Here is the release notes for that
    https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/fus_rn_OL-31390-01.pdf
This process will take 30-40min & do this within a sufficient outage/maintenance window.
Here is the release notes for 7.4.121.0(7.4MR2) the one I would recommend

Also refer the compatibillity matrix to see which product it will support depending on the products that are available at your environment

  • WLC 4402 - what software version ?

We are using version 4.2.130.0. I can see there are different later versions. F.ex. the 5.1.151.0 ED(What's ED ?)and the 4.2.173.0 MD(What's MD?)
What is the latest stable version ?
    Regards
    JF

You are on the latest stable version. 4.2.130 is a Cisco Gold Code and is what I use in my deployments. The 5.0... stay away, 5.1 and 4.2.173 is just too new. If you want to upgrade then I would upgrade to 4.2.173... But if it ain't broke don't upgrade.

  • Upgrading software version of 8830

I want to up[grade to the latest version possible on my 8830. However, I downloaded a 4.5 version and it does not go through and hangs. I
checked the options and I have zero ( ) bytes left on my BB. I do though have a 1GB memory card and I can't seem to save anything to it or move any app to run off there so I can free up my device memory.
How do I do this. I can't find any documentation to make downloads load on a memory card or how to move apps there.
    Can any one help?
    Accpacguru

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Lots of issues there...bear with me...
    1) "hangs" doesn't tell us very much about what happened with your attempted update. Perhaps you could provide us with some further details so as to keep us from guessing...
    2) "zero bytes left" -- of what? Application Memory? Device Memory? Media Card Memory? File Free?
    3) Apps can only be installed into AppMemory...nowhere else. Period. AppWorld can archive apps to your Media Card when not in use, but to actually run an app it must be in AppMemory. Period.
Try a battery pull followed immediately by re-attempting your device OS update.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Recommended to upgrade WLC to software version 4.0.179.8?

    Hi Sir,
I'm deploying a few WLC 4404-100 in a Mobility Group. They are installed with software version 4.0.155.5.
I understand that the latest version is 4.0.179.8. Is it recommended to upgrade the WLCs to this version?
    Please advise.
    Thank you.
    B.Rgds,
    Lim TS

    Hi,
I'm having a WLC 4404-100 running software version 4.0.179.8. Doing functional test now.
Created a WLAN with 802.1x and WEP 104-bits.
My wireless card is 3Com 3CRWE62092B. Windows XP SP2. Associated to the Lightweight AP and passed my EAP PEAP-MSCHAPv2 authentication with a backend Microsoft domain controller.
The connection is fine. However, every about 15 minutes, XP prompts the username/password dialog box again. My connection is cut off until I re-authenticate.
I never faced this problem before using Odyssey client previously with a WLC running software version 155.5.
    Please advise.
    Thank you.
    B.Rgds,

  • Upgrade BootLoader on Cisco WLC 4404

What is the latest Bootloader for the Cisco WLC 4404?  And where can I download it?
    My current versions are:
    Product Version.................................. 5.2.178.0
    RTOS Version..................................... 5.2.178.0
    Bootloader Version............................... 4.0.206.0
Also is there a reason to upgrade the bootloader image?
On this webpage http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a00805f381f.shtml it shows the steps to upgrade WLC are :
This sequence is recommended for your WLC software upgrade:
Upload a backup of your controller configuration to a TFTP server.
Disable the 802.11a and 802.11b/g networks on your controller.
Upgrade the primary image on your controller.
Upgrade the boot image on your controller.
Note: This is a required step for upgrades to 4.1 on the WiSM, 3750G Wireless LAN Controller, and 4400 Series Controllers.
Re-enable the 802.11a and 802.11b/g networks on your controller.
I get the primary image is just going to be AIR-WLC4400-K9-6-0-196-0.aes.  But where do i download the Bootloader and it looks like i just do the same thing i did with the primary image.
I think I am missing something.
    Thanks

The boot software image consists of the controller boot kernel and           boot menu script. that is.. when you use the WLC for the first time. then you will be able to use this while entering the username, mobility information.. interfaces informations etc.. the Software version is the one which you issue CLI  commands...or even simple example wil be.. reboot the WLC and hit ESC.. the software that you access at this time will be boot loader..
    to upgrade the bootloader...

  • IP Phone 7921 / 7925 roaming issues after WLC upgrade from Version 7.2 to 7.3 and / or 7.4

    Hi,
We have a customer which is using a Cisco WLC 5508 and 3502I APs. As he used the 7.2.103 release, There were no issues with VoWLAN. Now he needed new APs and ordered the 2602I. To use them he needed to upgrade the WLC to a 7.3 or later release. After the upgrade, he now encounters problems while roaming with the phones. The phones were tested with FW 1.4.1, 1.4.2 and 1.4.3.
Configuration is set according to wireless voice design guides (VoWLAN DG 4.1, 7921 Deployment Guide). A Cisco TAC is also in progress, but they seem to be uncertain whether it is a wireless or CUCM issue, but I don't see a reason why it should be the CUCM when the only thing changed is the WLC Software Version.
Is there anybody who is aware of such issues and can offer help?
    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards,
    Patrick

    Hi,
we had a TAC ticket open with this customer and after some time, the TAC gave us the advise to use this release and the problems are now solved.
So for others having the same issue: If you only need to support the 2600 APs, stay with the latest 7.2 release as there are some issues with the 7.3 and 7.4 release. If the customer requires HA, AVC or any of the new features + wireless voice, be very careful as it seems that the newer releases are having problems with that. I hope that Cisco will fix this very soon.
    regards,
    Patrick
