WLC 5508 and Microsoft Radius Server 2008

Hi, I am trying to setup WLC 5508 for a customer who want to use MS NPS for Radius authentication, however there aren't many good documents showing how to configure the MS NPS.
I have couple of questions:
1, Does WLC 5508 support MS NPS on Server 2008 R2?
2, Are there any good document showing how to configure this?

Hi Shendy,
I am not aware about any bug related to this. I think you better check all configuration and make sure it is fine.
Logs from NPS and WLC (and possibly from the supplicant) may guide you where the problem resides.
What does the NPS logs tell about the reason of the authentication failure?
What does the WLC logs say about the failure (check show msglog and show traplog).
- Make sure the Radius server added correctly with correct IP and correct shared secret on WLC.
- Make sure that the radius is configured correctly to allow PEAP-MSCHAPv2.
- Make sure WLC is added successfully to WLC with correct IP address and correct shared secret.
- Make sure the clients are correctly configured and the server's (NPS) certificate is trusted on the clients.

WLC 5508 And Third Party SSL for Web Authenticaiton

We are using WLC 5508 and currently the authentication process is via Customized WebAuth. As you know that with the WebAuth the authentication process won't work unless you launch Web Browser and you will be redirected to the Authentication Page where you type your username and password. This is a bit fuzzy for most of the users and what I'm thinking is to use different authentication mechanism where the user will automatically be prompted upon connecting to any SSID. I have read that Public/Thrid Party certificate will do this and any client can accept the public certificate.
Anyone can elaborate on this approach?

With machines that are not part of the domain, typicall if you still want to secure them usin 802.1x, you would leverage a radius server and users would be told of the SSID to connect to and enter their AD credentials. Of course, if you use AD credentials, users will now join all their other devices to that SSID. This is where ISE comes in and you can profile devices. Even though the WLC with v7.6 can profile, it's not a full fledge profiler. Depending on how well you know radius, you can leverage a portal page also and depending on the AD group a user is a member of, you can out them is a specific Vlan or if you leverage interface groups. You can do many things, but you need to really know radius and client types to figure out what can and work well in your environment. Radius alone to someone who hasn't played with it, can take days to setup without help.
Every client I setup radius for is different and it comes down to how their users are setup in AD, what devices they have and the requirements.

Before you run SQL Server 2008 express setup, make sure that you have installed Windows installer 4.5 and.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 manually. For more information about the process, please refer to the article:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506(v=sql.100).aspx. Moreover, please turn off all the third-party softwares which could prohibit the installation process.
According to your error message, the issue could be due to that your account has no rights to install SQL Server, or the corruption on the media.
Firstly, please ensure that your account has admin rights. Also make sure that you right-click the setup.exe and choose “Run as administrator” to complete the installation.
Secondly, please check if "msdbdata.mdf" file exists at d:\8268cd7b247d294de359c9\x86\setup\sql_engine_core_inst_msi\PFiles\SqlServr\MSSQL.X\MSSQL\Binn\Template. If it exists, please make sure that your account has read permission to the extracted
folder.
However, if the file doesn't exist in the extraction, the media could be corrupt. Please download the
media
again and check if the issue still occurs.

Trying to run Microsoft Web Server 2008

I have a computer running Microsoft Web Server 2008 and cannot login from the Internet.
Everytime I try I keep getting the Actiontes Control Panel.
I am using the WAN IP address, and DHCP and have tried Port Forwarding via Actiontec Control Panel.
I am new at this and trying to set up an ecommerce site to sell my Daughter's Homemade Jewelery.
Help, I don't know where to turn to next. I also signed up with ZoneEdit.com for Domain Name Service.

You have to set a static ip for your server and port forward to it. Then you use your wan ip with port numer on the end. 000.000.000:80 You shouldn't be seeing your router unless you have remote login turned on or are in DMZ mode.
If you have residential service you are not aloud to run a server on it. It is in the TOS.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 - Express Download Link Broken

I am installing Backup Exec 2014 and during the installation I need to provide the EXE from the "Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 R2 SP2 - Express" installer (German version). Unfortunately the link is broken, even when I navigate from the download
page to the SQL Express download page (http://www.microsoft.com/de-de/download/details.aspx?id=30438) I always get:
We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found.
I cannot find the German installer anywhere else in the internet, and as I just had to uninstall the old backup solution to be able to start the installer from the new one it is quite important that I get this file as quick as possible so I can get the backup
running again.
Any idea what I could do or where I could find the installer?

Connecting BI Pub with Microsoft SQL server 2008

I am trying to connect Microsoft SQL server 2008 as a Data source in BIP .
Using below info :

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise 4.0

Hi Expert,
I'm going to install SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise 4.0 on my virtualized system (vmware) composed as: windows server 2008 Enterprise Edition R2 + Tomcat. I have some doubts related to the DB version to choose.
Due to the fact that Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express is bundled with SAP BOE 4.0 I want to use this DB.
However, I saw in the Microsoft Portal that Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express (http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/en/us/product-info/compare.aspx) that:
Number of CPUs     1
Maximum memory utilized     1 GB
Maximum database size     10 GB
These my doubts:
1) Could these characteristics generate performance issues for a production environment?
2) Which is a typical DB size for a production enviroment? could be greater then 10 GB?
3) Can I use Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express in a virtualized system (vmware)?

Hi Gio
Remember that the BOE system database (or repository) only has a few tables in it, with really one main table that stores a reference to each folder, report, user, group, server, etc. on the system. So the table and the database itself do not grow very large. In the past year, we have done over 70 SAP BusinessObjects projects and I can't recall one where the database size would even approach 5GB in total, let alone 10GB.
The reason for this is that the database only stores a reference to the physical objects and content within BOE-- the actual reports, universes, etc. are stored on the file system within the Input and Output file repository folders.
And the memory constraints are not really an issue either with BOE-- the database itself does not come under much strain during the day-to-day operation of the server. If you believe that the memory may be an issue, you can always start with SQL Server 2008 Express and then using the new tools in the 4.0 CMC to monitor the memory usage on the server. If you need to, you can move the system database to another SQL Server edition, or alternately move the database to another one of the supported platforms, including Oracle, DB2, etc.

WLC 5508 and LAP1310 - Not syncing up!

As the title states I have a WLC 5508 and a LAP1310 that will not sync up.
The error stated in the traps log is "AP with MAC (xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx) is unknown."
WLC software release is : 7.2.103.0
IOS on the AP is : 12.4(18a)JA2
Upon some investigation I found that the "AP with MAC is unknown" error usually points to one of two things:
A. WLC firmware needs to be updated
B. AP needs to be updated.
C. The AP is not compatible with the WLC.
I am leaning toward solution C and I am looking for a conformation or a correction, if anyone could help out that would be greatly appreciated!
I've tried reading the compatibility matrix released by Cisco, but I found it mildly confusing as to what is and isn't supported by each software release.

The setup consists of a 2106 WLC that runs version 4.1.185.0. A Cisco 1250 AP is not able to join the controller.

Solution: This is because the Cisco 1250 series LAP is not supported on version 4.1. The Cisco Aironet 1250 Series AP is supported from controller versions 4.2.61 and later. In order to fix this issue, upgrade the controller software to 4.2.61.0 or later.
Problem 16: 1000 series LAPs not able to join the Wireless LAN controller, WLC runs version 5.0
This is because WLC software release 5.0.148.0 or later is not compatible with Cisco Aironet 1000 series APs. If you have a Cisco 1000 series LAP in a network, which runs WLC versions 5.0.48.0, the 1000 series LAP does not join the controller and you see this trap message on the WLC.

What are the properties of this .mp4 video import (video and audio compressions, frame size, frame rate, interlaced or progressive, pixel aspect ratio)?
If you have any information about the video bitrate and audio bitrate of the file, that would be good to know.
What is the audio - stereo 2 channel or 5.1 channel?
What are you (manually) or the project automatically setting as the project preset to match the properties of your source video?

I am installing W2k8 R2 Domain Controller with Oracle Express 10g.
This is the tip to make it work.
Go to the installer OracleXE.exe -> Right click + Select Properties + Compatibility + Run this program in Compatibility Mode fot + Windows 2003 Sp1
Then Select Run this Program as administrator.
After this run the OracleXe.exe and it will install properly.
Remember to double check that everything works fine.

I am about to start studying for the upgrade to SQ Lserver 2008 exam 70-453. i completed my MCITP SQL server 2005 cert last year.
I have read a few forums on the topic, and some have suggested reading the free ebook entitled "Introducing Microsoft SQL Server 2008" (not to be confused with "Introducing Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2")

I have taken a look at the book, and it seems to concentrate on "what's new in the R2 version", so I'm afraid that it won't be terribly useful for your goal of preparing 70-453.
I suggest that you consider the Self-Paced Training Kit for 70-432, which should cover the knowledge that you require for the TS part of the 70-453 upgrade exam:

IPad 802.1x and Microsoft RADIUS

Is anyone running iPad 2's in the enterprise using Microsoft RADIUS server? Now I understand that you can't use device certs because iPads cannot be joined to the domain, but I can use user certs. Now I read that iOS support PKCS#1 and #12, but I do not have this option on my CA for a cert request? Can someone share some tips on how they deployed these devices on the enterprise network? Microsoft Radius Server vs ACS/Radius

Is there any differences between Microsoft Radius Server and the Radius in ACS.

I have used both with pretty good success. The one thing I do not like about ACS is the fact that a user can only belong to one group. The documentation for ACS is pretty good and configuring ACS is pretty simple. I was able to import my AP's from a file which was nice since I had around 100 to setup/install. That was really quick and simple.
The isn't a lot of documentation around for configuring IAS with Cisco Wireless equipment, but there are hints in these forums if you search. I had IAS configured to assign VLANS to certain wireless users (actually groups) and it works fine. There were a few bugs (differences between VxWorks and IOS) that have been corrected I believe. If you run into problems make sure your AP's software is up to date.
Aside from the fact that a user can belong to only one group, I like ACS. I haven't had much time to finish my configuration as far as Wireless goes, but so far things have been pretty simple to configure.
