WLC code: Mesh-Only vs Non-Mesh

Most of the sites have 1131Indoor and one site has 1522 Outdoor AP. All the AP's will have POE cable. We dont need Mesh technology.
We are trying to evaluate between Mesh Only or Non-Mesh code for WLC. Some of the departments are low budget funded so they cannot afford to have two different WLC's.
What is the loss of functionality if we make Indoor AP like 1131 connect to Mesh Only code?
Is there a link that shows the functionality comparison between Mesh Only and Non-Mesh WLC code?

the mesh code right now is still based on 4.1 code.... so you will only have features as of 4.1 (there is no mesh code based on 4.2 yet)....
if you use mesh release 2, the .24 code... its the first mesh code to support internal ap's like the 1131 in indoor mesh and normal local mode (possibly hreap as well but I dont have a doc in front of me right now)......
but if you want to support the 1522 and 1131 on the same WLC you will have to use mesh release 2 the.24 one...

  • How does WLC prevent layer 2 loops between mesh and different wired networks

    hi all,
i have a question in regards to layer 2 loops. in my network i have clients devices moving between 2 separated mesh networks. from WLC prespective, the mac addresses should've moved between multiple bridge group and wired network.
can someone please enlighten me how WLC prevent layer 2 loops?
i understand spanning tree in the wired network, but WLC is not using SPT in mesh
    thank you

Thanks for your help! This really helps a lot! We actually only want to replace the autonmous access point with the controller solution and make one WLAN available at another site. From what I can see, this is possible with our current solution - we just need to switch from Layer 2 to Layer 3 and purchase the corresponding amount of supported Access Points (I think we should be able to get some refurbished ones).
Am I correct in assuming that the Access Points we want to replace (AIR-AP1230B-E-K9 with 802.11b radio only) cannot be upgraded to lightweight ones? Since if I understood document http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html correctly, this is not possible with access points that only have 802.11b radios.
Regarding the switch from Layer 2 to Layer 3: Do we really only need to perform the steps I described in my first post?
And one last question regarding REAP. As far as I understood this is only needed when local traffic needs to be maintained in case the connection to the WLC becomes unavailable. So we really don't need it if we want to access resources that are only available over the WLC?
    Thanks again for your help!

  • Roaming between mesh and non mesh and mesh AP design

    Hi There,
I need some verification on the following:
    - Can client roam between Mesh AP 1550 series and Non-Mesh AP?
    - I have 1550 series AP to be installed and all the mounting area are with data point ready, which connects back to switch. Would configuring mesh for this outdoor units recommended, and guide on this. Current guide i am looking from cisco site is basically the AP do not have wired ethernet connection, my design here a bit different, all the AP's have wired connection back to the switch.
    Kindly assist.
    Thank you
    Rama

I have seen and done installs like this. The advantage is that you don't have to worry about the backhaul dropping. So it's like any LAP but big chunky outdoor AP. If the RAP looses Ethernet connectivity... Well it changes to a MAP. So you can look at
It as a benefit. It's always nice to be able to have Ethernet when you can.

  • WLC code for point to point bridging

What is the best WLC code for point to point and point to multipoint bridging on a 2504 with 2602 APs? 7.2-7.4 had transparent vlan issues and I'm not sure if they were fixed in 7.5-7.6. We have 5-6 vlans that we are needing to bridge between a large open area. Also, are there any bugs with wireless mesh and ISE?

You do not have many choices now, only 7.0.250.0, 7.4.121.0 & 7.6.110.0 codes are supported by Cisco. All other codes have been deferred by them.
I do not have configured those set-up to advise you specific to that. I would think 7.6.110.0 may have fixed whatever the known bugs in previous versions.

  • Called-Station-ID attribute and Cisco WLC code 7.4

    Hello
I have 2 WLCs configured with 2 SSIDs (one is [WPA2][Auth(802.1X)] and the other is Web-Auth). One of the WLCs is remote and its WLANs are configured with mobility anchors pointing to the other WLC. Both WLCs are configured with Called-Station-ID set to AP Mac Address:SSID. I use this attribute on ACS to authenticate/authorize users based on what SSID they connect to.
This worked fine on WLC code 7.0 but on upgrading to 7.4 I started having some issues:
clients on the remote WLC can still authenticate on the [WPA2][Auth(802.1X)] SSID as the Called-Station-ID attribute is still AP Mac Address:SSID
clients on the remote WLC cannot authenticate on the Web-Auth SSID as the Called-Station-ID attribute now appears to be the Mac Address of the WLC anchor controller
WLC models are 5508 and current code is 7.4.110.0 (APs are AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9). Can anyone tell me why I'm seeing this behaviour on the Web-Auth SSID on the remote WLC?
    Thanks
    Andy

Since you have two AAA devices that's sending info, you can have your policy for the guest specifying the guest WLC. The SSID policy for the foreign WLC is only really needed if you have multiple 802.1x authentication from the foreign WLC and that's when you can use the regex to defiance the SSID per AD Group.
Look at a successful authentication from one of the guest users. Look at the detailed log and then in that log, you will see all the attributes being sent that the radius can send back to the WLC. You can use any of those attributes in your policies.
Called-Station-ID might not be sent like what your use to, because the foreign WLC has the access point the guest user associates to and tunnels it back to the anchor WLC. So this attribute might not be available. Things do change with code versions so you might just have to adjust your policies. I haven't played around with 7.0.x code with guest anchor and radius in a while, but I have in the past upgraded radius or the WLC and had to tweak my radius policies.

when we are doing the billing system is not creating any error message and we are activated COPA also. So in billing COPA document is generating.
we are tried to post the excise invoice for this billing document using the standard transaction code J1IIN.
But system is giving the error message "Enter only one non-statistical account assignment"
    Please suggest.

The system does not recognize whether it should be assigned to the sales  order or to the internal order probably. There is every possibility of program error, please refer to oss notes like 170014.

Hi, after installing Adobe CC I tried opening Adobe Photoshop. This failed.
I get the opening window where it says installing plugins searching etc, after which PS opens in full screen.
Just moments after that there's a failure warning, no code number, only the warning that PS failed to open and PS will close.
I tried downloading it for a second time, but this did'nt solve the problem.
Befor the CC version I used a one year student version of Adobe CS6.
    What can I do?

Regarding the Flash Player problem, disable Hardware Acceleration to circumvent driver incompatibilities.

    Help....
Ive just gifted an app to my son as I often do and when he tries to redeem it it says "This code is only valid for customers of the Store".
Ive looked this up and normally it will involve someone from one country trying to gift an app to someone in another country but with me this is not the case.
My son lives in the same country, the same address everything.
The app was called Kick the buddy: Second kick
    Can anyone please help
    Thank you

Thanks to James, I have just had a reply saying that they do not know why this error has occured but they have refunded my purchase costs.

  • "This code is only Valid for customers of the USA Store.", "This code is only Valid for customers of the USA Store."

I get this error message when redeeming an app from the apple "Aproved" website "Appexchanger" which is when you check out free apps and get credits to get paid apps, but i am in canada and everytime i go to redeem one i get "This code is only valid for customers of the USA Store." i think this is unfair because ive done what theve asked and theres nothing on the site that says "US ONLY" and the people who made it wont even contact me back! Please help i just want some apps!

Just FYI, Appexchanger is not "approved" by Apple in any way that I can detect. Apple does not appear to have any connection of any sort with that company other than as a customer.
This company looks to me to be nothing more than a way to harvest email addresses and other content information to sell to other companies, getting you onto all sorts of spam lists. I don't for one minute believe their claim that they won't sell your information (and if they don't, it's s good bet at least one if nor more of the developers will). But in any case, as Jay said, any problems or issues you may have with that company will have to be taken up with them. This is not an Apple issue.

  • Is it possible to patch Global Zone and only specific Non-Global Zones?

    Hi Champs,
Is it possible to patch Global Zone and only specific Non-Global Zones? Idea is to patch DEV-zones only on the system & test applications and then patch only the STG-zones on same server!
Not sure if it is possible but just throwing a question...
    Cheers,

Yes, if you have branded (non-sparse) zone!Branded zones and sparse zones don't have the relation that you imply. In Solaris 10, native zones can be sparse or whole-root (non-sparse, as you say). Zones that are not native zones are branded zones. Branded zones on Solaris 10 include Solaris Legacy Containers, previously known as Solaris 8 Containers and Solaris 9 Containers. That add-on product allows you to run Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 application environments under a thin layer of virtualization provided by the brands framework. solaris8 and solaris9 branded zones can be patched independently of each other and of the global zone.
Solaris 11 has no "native zones" - all zones use the brands framework. The "solaris" brand does no emulation and in that respect is very similar to native zones on Solaris 10. Solaris 11 also provides Solaris 10 Zones via the solaris10 brand. This allows zones or the global zone from a Solaris 10 system to be transferred to a Solaris 11 system and run as solaris10 zones. When running on Solaris 11, solaris10 zones can each be patched independently from each other and the Solaris 11 global zone. Technically, Solaris 11 doesn't have patches - it just has newer versions of packages to which the system is updated.

  • Does JNLP Sync up the software from the code base only at the startup?

Does JNLP Sync up the software from the code base only at the startup?
There appears a Source sync every time i startup the jnlp app from shortcut.
The users of JNLP application may enable the Internet mid of the application session and fail to get the updates.
If this case repeats for a period of time, there is a good chance of the app user being denied the code update.
Is this case holds true. Does JNLP syncs with the code base only at the startup.
    Please explain..
    Thanks In Advance

Are you using versions (only 'Easy solution 2' works without)?*
No I am not using versions
Are you thinking of a background update or an on-demand update?*
    background
    Have you got all-permissions?
    yes
Have you tried writing a small DownloadServiceListener and calling*
    DownloadService.loadResource(myURLtojnlp, null, myDownloadServiceListener)*
    Does anything happen?*
No. But, no problems trying it.
    Easy solution 1*
If using versions and if you want an on-demand update you can launch and wait*
    Runtime.getRuntime.exec("javaws -wait myURLtojnlp");*
and then you exit (need all-permissions to call exec, can try showDocument() otherwise).*
You should just have some way to know if the jnlp has changed (you could open an URLConnection and see if LastModified is after application start time).*
    I am not using versions.
    Easy solution 2:*
If you're just afraid of losing update, you can call BasicService.isOffline at application start, if true you set a timer that checks every 5 minutes, if you go online you call*
    Runtime.getRuntime.exec("javaws -import myURLtojnlp");*
and you'll have resources updated, so they'll be good for next start (need all-permissions to call exec).*
You can call it with -wait and ask the user if he wants to restart the application*
Harder solution (here comes the bunch of code with DownloadService):*
you open an url connection to codebase, retrieve jnlp, parse it, for each resource you see if it's cached, if not:*
Solution 1: you tell the user you found updates and ask him to restart (or automatically restart after he pressed ok, with exec or showDocument).*
Solution 2: you download the resource (so that you'll have it even if user doesn't restart the app). You'd better do this in a separate Thread or have an interactive DowloadServiceListener cause service waits for download to end.*
I ll try the timer execution. Have to see weather web start puts up a downloading progress window on top of the application. I belive the DownloadService listener will be silent. I ll implement it and get back to you.
    Thanks for your kind guidence.
I think your scenario is very difficult to happen, but I guess you must have your good reasons to ask.*
This scenario happens to my users as they switch on the client when the start their machine and runs for the whole morning. They switch on the internet for other purposes and shuts it down in an hour. Minimal chance of connecting the internet before the startup.
I get update towards the server through a similar timer based mechanism. I ll implement the code updates in the same mechanism.
    Thanks.

  • Same tax code to inventorise and non-inventorise the excise

    hi
My client want to use the same tax code to inventorise and non-inventorise the excise values.
    Requirement is as follows:-
two plants- plant1 is excisable and plant2 is in excise free zone.
    tax code is T1 - 16 % BED + 2% ECS  + 1% SEcess
they want to take the cenvat credit in case of plant 1 while doing procurement
ans want to inventorise the excise on material cost in case of plant 2.
I suggested them to use two different tax codes in which one is having the non inventorise condition types and other is having the inventorise condition types.
but they want to use the same tax code
Is it possible to do this ??
    Regards
    Anin

    Hello Anis,
Use two different Tax code. Let's A for used as dedectable Tax(Convet Benefit)
A should have Coditions like this
    Deduct able tax:-
JMOP    - IN BED Settoff %
              JEC1     - A/P Edu. Cess Settoff
              JSEP     - IN A/P H Ecess Setoff
JVRD   - A/P VAT RM Deductable
Also maintain its settoff 100% for all the condition Type.
    JMX1 --     IN: A/P BED setoff
    JEX1 ---      Ecess Setoff Sta
    JHX1     IN: A/P SECess SOTot
Now for Non-deductable Tax(Inventrised) suppose ur Tax Code B
B should have condition Like this
    JMIP   - IN BED
    JEC2 - A/P ECESS
    JSEI - H Ecss
    JVRN - Vat
    maintain the percentage in FV12.
Now for CENVAT benefit, in J1ID, maintain Material And the Plant both for whom you want the benefit
    Hope Solve U !

    Pardeep Malik

  • Has anyone experienced the iphone 4s camera panorama failure where the panorama stops after taking  only one non panoramic shot? I think this happens when you switch direction of the panoramic arrow.

Has anyone experienced the iphone 4s camera panorama failure where the panorama stops after taking  only one 'non panoramic shot? I think this happens when you switch direction of the panoramic arrow.

Sounds like you have a battry issue but don't want to believe it.
If a car was running fine on one tank of gas, then you filled it up with another tank of gas and it began to run funny, one might suspect that tank of gas. But let's just say coincidence blew a valve-- would you think the new tank of gas was the culprit?
BUT WAIT!! It just might have been! The gas could have been of higher octane and put more more strain on the valves; you know, like going from 87 octane (OS6) to 93 octane (OS7) and showing you the engine was on the edge of compromise.
Sometimes you have to go with common sense. If everything else is ruled out, it must be the battery. And if it runs fine one moment in OS6 but immediately ***** in OS7, I'd believe my battery was suspect-- though comfy-- in OS6 but the OS7 showed its true power.
Moreover, if you had the answer-- or didn't want to believe someone's more competent advice-- why did you even call?  You've already shown that you don't know much when you asked if you could go backwards after setting up the new OS as a new phone.
Additonally, if you're such the know-it-all, but yourself the $29 battery and put it in yourself. It's a piece of cake.
