WLC Image upgrade from 7.0 to 7.6

Dear All,
I am planning to upgrade my WLC 5508 image from 7.0 to 7.6 to accommodate the new series access points (2702).
Currently I am using 1142 &1242 access points in my network and some of them are in HREAP mode.
Does this upgrade will affect my existing setup anyway ??
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Shijo.

Did you try to factory default the WLC and rebuild it from scratch?  You shouldn't have any issues when upgrading, but when you upgrade and the configuration gets corrupt, there is noting you can do, except to rebuild the WLC.  If this is part of an HA AP SSO setup, then you need to make sure you reset the peer and then the primary.  Question is.... are you running HA AP SSO and if not, is the WLC working fine after a reboot?

  • WLC firmware upgradation from 6.0.196.0 to 7.0.98.0

    Hi,
I have not come across to upgrade the IOS of WLC at any time .
Right now , I have WLC 6.0.196.0 and it is working fine but still if in case I need to upgrade to 7.0.98.0 or whichever is latest , What is the procedure ?
How to go about it ?
kindly suggest me for the same.

    Hi Vinod,
Sorry for the late reply.. this forum thingy is messed up.. suddenly this throws me off!! hav to re-login.. strange!! ok lemme get back..
Main image = The image helps you in getting the GUI and helps you in configuring through the CLI..
Boot  Loader image = Is almost equal to ROMMON version on switches!! ok lemme  explain u in WLC world.. When you reboot ur WLC, while rebooting if u  hit "Escape" then  you can see something like the Intial WLC config  wizard.. or while doing the PASSWORD recovery we select options 1 to 5..  this is called as Boot loader version..
The complex explanation is.. A boot loader, also called a boot  manager, is a small program that places the Operating System (OS) of a  computer into Memory. When a computer is powered-up or restarted, the  basic functions performs some initial tests.
lemme know if this answered your question and mark it as answered if so!!

  • Can WLC be upgraded from 3.2.78.0 directly to 4.0.179.11?

    Hi All,
I have read some release notes and Configuration guide but they all didn't tell me the detail. Actually I want to know can I directly upgrade the WLC from old 3.2 version to the newest 4.0 version? And will the existing configuration be kept after the upgrade? Anyone can help me? Thanks!
    Jason,
    Thanks

    FYI:
If you are also planning on upgrading your WCS (if you have one), you will find some helpful information on an earlier thread:
    http://forums.cisco.com/eforum/servlet/NetProf?page=netprof&forum=Wireless%20-%20Mobility&topic=Security%20and%20Network%20Management&CommCmd=MB%3Fcmd%3Ddisplay_location%26location%3D.1ddcbc4c
In the case of the WCS, you are forced to perform an uninstall of 3.2 software and an install from scratch of 4.0. We did the upgrade prior to performing any configuration in 3.2 and so did not attempt to carry forward the config. But you will have some "fun" bringing any AP licensing forward.

  • MacPro1,1 upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion possible w/7300GT?

Am having to go to Lion to use some new apps, which will not run on my Snow Leapord OSX 10.6.8
    on a Mac Pro 1,1 - 2 x 2.66Ghz Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5100 series ("Woodcrest")
Most articles, which I read say this is doable and should pose little problem, if any.
Talked with Apple tech and he confirms my 1,1 is good for Lion 10.7.5. However. I'm also reading that I need to have a Intel Core 2 Duo for Lion. but my 1,1 is a Dual-Core Intel Xeon.
    So, I'm a bit confused.
If I can upgrade to Lion, this is my situation:
Am NOT a video/photo/music mixer user, ands 95% of usage is lots of spread sheet w/graphs, word docs, some low-end drafting, and tons of web browsing research.
My TOTAL storage usage for Snow Leapord OS, all Apps, Docs, Pics, Music is only 65GB, and will not grow by another 5 GB, until I do a machine upgrade in a couple of years, I hope.
    Existing set up:
    Have 8 GB of  ram
    Have 4 drives:
SSD 120g drive (upon which I now have everything; boot, apps, & docs)
SSD 120g drive (not yet installed, but 'in hand')
1 internal 500GB drive, as a nightly CC Clone back up for existing boot, apps, & docs SSD
1 bootable external FW 250GB drive, as a nightly CC Clone back, 'back up' for existing boot, apps, & docs SSD
Have 2 - 23" HD Cinema displays at 1920x1200 res. running on one Apple  Nvidia Geforce 256MB 7300 GTHave 'spare' Apple  Nvidia Geforce 256MB 7300 GT installed, but am not running anything on it, because of strage display behavior when using both 7300 GTs
    Desired new setup:
1 SSD, running Lion, installed by Apple's $20 online disk image 'upgrade' (From SL) routine (not a 'clean install' of Lion)
1 SSD, running Snow Leapord (for Rosetta-dependent apps)
On the 500 Gb drive, make three partitions:
One partition for Lion boot B/U.
One partition for Snow Leapord boot B/U. (however, I'm sure about where to locate the Rosetta-dependent apps?)
One partition for apps, docs, etc
Then Back up the three partitions on the 500GB drive with the external FW 250 GB drive. Total about 65GB
Is there another way I should use the 4 drives?
Note: Am cloning with the "Delete anything on 'destination' disk', which is not on 'source' disk", option, and do not need old versions of docs.
Thanks very much for any thoughts you might have on this planned upgrade.

I need to have a Intel Core 2 Duo
...Core 2 Duo Or Better...and a XEON is better.
Take the 250 external enclosure apart and put in the largest drive (500) instead. You cannot back up 500 GB of stuff onto a 250.
Backing up different stuff to so many different partitions is too complicated... and too complicated does not get done religiously.
Consider leaving ONLY System, Library, Applications, and the hidden Unix files including Paging/Swap on your Boot drive(s). Move Users folders off to another drive. This will allow you to switch back and forth between systems easily.
In case of a disaster, Boot Drives can be re-created from the release discs in a few hours. Almost all the preferences/customizations are in your User account fiolders.
When you download 10.7, after it downloads and before it installs, interrupt it and make yourself a DVD of the Installer image. It will not be there when the Installer finishes. Instructions are readily available from reliable sources online.

  • WLC 5508 - upgrade image + H-REAP

    All, good day.
I have a bug reported (CSCsy23704) for the H-REAP functionality. This sunday I will perform an image upgrade to try to solve this issue.
What would it be the best image to go for?.
After the upgrade, what will happen with the APs?, should I reconfigure them or they will enter in contact with the WLC automatically?.
    Current image is 6.0.199.0
    The WLC is a 5508
    Thanks in advance!!

After you load the code on the WLC you can use the pre download feature. Tis will allow you to push the new image to the ap before you reboot.

  • 4.2.2 upgrade from 4.1 and images location issue

I've just upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2.2, and am having an issue with the referenced location of the images directory (/i/) resources. I am running apex listener on weblogic server, and have copied the new images into the i.war that I use. I have an unusual reverse proxy situation where my base URL includes a path, i.e., https://www.my.website.com/mysite/ is the URL that the proxy returns to the user, so my APEX addresses look like https://www.my.website.com/mysite/apex/f?101:1:::::, and my image directory references get put together like https://www.my.website.com/mysite/i/image.jpg.
However, with the upgrade, one of the things that popped up was all of the datepickers in my application were changed to classic datepickers, which worked and displayed fine. When I change them to the new datepicker, the small calendar image doesn't show next to the field (red x), and when I look at the properties of the image, it's URL is https://www.mywebsite.com/i/asfdcldr.gif (no "/mysite/" path offset). ALL of the other images directory references seem fine, but not this. Has 4.2.2 changed how it composed the #HOST# when it's generating these new controls (same result when I make a datepicker from scratch)? Why do all of my other images directory references work? The only other problem that I'm seeing is that my charts no longer work, either. I used to have to hardcode my URL into the XML of the charts for them to work, but I don't see the URL referenced in the code anymore. Not sure if that's related, but that has always been an issue with my reverse proxy situation (I don't control the proxy server).
Thanks in advance for any light anyone can shed on this,
    -warren

    Hi Warren,
+> The only other problem that I'm seeing is that my charts no longer work, either. I used to have to hardcode my URL into the XML of the charts for them to work, but I don't see the URL referenced in the code anymore. Not sure if that's related, but that has always been an issue with my reverse proxy situation (I don't control the proxy server).+
With APEX 4.2, we've changed how charts are initialized to be JavaScript only, and as part of the changes, we no longer expose the region source for charts. See *4.8 Updated AnyChart Flash Charts* in the APEX 4.2 Release Notes, here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/doc.42/e35121/toc.htm#CACEJBCD. So it's no longer feasible to hardcode a reference to your URL in the region source for a chart. If you have a reverse proxy, the CGI environment variables REQUEST_PROTOCOL, HTTP_HOST, SERVER_PORT, and SCRIPT_NAME, have to be correctly set to the public facing web server and not to the internal forwarding connection. If you execute the following query in SQL Workshop on your APEX instance, do you see the settings for the public facing web server?
    select owa_util.get_cgi_env('REQUEST_PROTOCOL'), owa_util.get_cgi_env('HTTP_HOST'), owa_util.get_cgi_env('SERVER_PORT'), owa_util.get_cgi_env('SCRIPT_NAME') from dual;Regards,

  • How do I restore a Windows 8.1 system image if I upgraded from Windows 8?

I have a new HP Envy TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC 15-j003cl.
It came with Windows 8 which I upgraded to Windows 8.1.
I created the HP Recovery USB flash drive.
From my reading I understand that the recovery USB flash drive is Windows 8 not 8.1.
    My question is:
Can I restore a Windows 8.1 System Image Backup I made on a USB hard drive using the Windows 8 recovery USB flash drive?
Or, to put it another way, what is the recommended procedure to back up an upgraded Windows 8.1 computer so, in the event of hard-drive failure, I don't have to start with Windows 8, upgraded to 8.1, re-install all my apps?
    Thanks
    Kirk

OK here's where I am now and a few followup questions,
    Started with Windows 8.
Upgraded from Windows Store to Windows 8.1
Installed lots of apps and got everything running the way I like.
I created a full system image of my upgraded 8.1 hard drive to an external USB hard drive.
I have successfully created a recovery boot USB flash.  (did not copy recovery partition) I can restart the computer from
it and navigate up to the point where it will restore my system image made after I upgraded to 8.1.  (I don't want to risk
trying it for fear it will mess up my computer)
Assume my hard drive failed and I have a new blank hard drive:
My question is at this point does it matter that this was originally a windows 8 (not 8.1) computer?
Will I be able to restore the image of 8.1?
Does it matter which version of Windows I created the recovery boot USB flash on?  ( I can't tell when it boots from the
recovery USB flash if it is running Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.
I wish there was a way to test this without risking losing all the work I have done to configure the computer??
    Thanks,
    Kirk

  • Upgrading from Aperture 2-3. What happens to referenced images?

I'm upgrading from Aperture 2 to 3. I have referenced images on some external hard drives. Will my referenced images be okay and still read correctly from my HD if I upgrade?

    Hi
I had no problems it retained the Referenced File location info you will have to ensure the externals connected.
If they are not linked as indicated by a red line through the referenced file icon bottom RH corner
Select the images that need reconnecting and then go to File / Locate Referenced Files
You will get a dialogue box which enables you to find the Referenced File/s then click Reconnect or Reconnect All
I just had to do it because I renamed an external drive
    Hope this helps

  • Upgrading from WLC-12 to WLC-50

Would anyone know if I would run across any issues when upgrading from a Cisco Wireless controller WLC-12 to a Cisco wireless controller WLC-50? Can anyone forsee any issues with me just copying the startup config from the WLC-12 to the WLC-50? Any and all comments are appreciated.
    Thank You,
    Travis

I don't think that is supported. You are better off configuring the new wlc. You don't want to risk having a corrupted configuration file on the wlc. Setup the new one side by side so you can compare the configuration.... doesn't take long.

  • Since upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion, when I login 1 of 2 disk images I have set to open on login does not mount.

Since upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion, when I login 1 of 2 disk images I have set to open on login does not mount. It worked under Lion. Stickies opens just fine. The disk images are sparse disk bundles. Are there any suggested remedies? I have already tried repairing permissions. One interesting thing is that previously in LIon, the disk images were just sparse images, not sparse bundles. I switched to bundles after reading that Time Machine backups of sparse bundles would not copy the entire image, only the changed parts. The sprase images are for sharing of photo and iTUnes libraries among multiple family member on the same computer.

If it is working as expected, what do you need with the old backup?
If you want to be able to go back to where you were prior to an upgrade, isolate that backup and don't use it again. As far as Time Machine can tell, the whole drive changed.
The link I posted contains probably everything that anybody knows about Time Machine and how to manipulate it to work as you would like as opposed to how it was designed to work. There are FAQs to continue a backup as opposed to starting fresh, but I wouldn't recommend it for the reasons above. Pondini probably doesn't, either.
If you are going to do a wholesale upgrade of the OS, I would create a bootable clone using something like Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. A bootable clone on an external drive can have you back up and running instantly if the upgrade fails in any way. If the upgrade goes fine, store it away in case you find the current system isn't to your liking.

  • Upgrade from 7.0.235 to 7.0.240 5508 WLC

Does anyone see a reason to upgrade from 7.0.235 to 7.0.240? I can't go any higher right because we are still using WCS. I read the white papers but as far as I can tell there are no new features..

Leo is a risky Australian.... beware
You might be able to get it to work, just Cisco will not support it.  They need to keep the LifeCycle going $$$$$$$
