Are there any compatibility issues between code written to work under
WL5.1/CS3.1 which I want to migrate to WL6.0/CS3.2??

Please note that WLPS/CS 3.2 only works on WLS 5.1, not WLS 6.0.
The upcoming release, WLPS/CS 3.5, will be available only for WLS
6.0 and is scheduled for release in late April. Migration between
3.1.1 and 3.2 is covered by the following document:

A similar document will be available for migrating from 3.1.1
or 3.2 to 3.5. I believe that the WLS 6.0 documentation covers
migration from WLS 5.1.

In attempt to upgrade my mid-2007 MacBook Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo), I bought a Seagate 750GB listed as compatible with my computer on MacSales.com . . .

Installation appeared to go well and I ran an extended hardware test with no issues found. However, the drive is listed at 5.46 TB (would be nice) and I get an input/output error when attempting to partition. I can initiate an erase, but after the time I would suspect it would take to erase the drive, I get an input/output error - it seems to appear after the first 750 GB of the '5.5 TB' was erased. At all times, the drive is not recognized when I attempt to install OS X from original discs.
I suspect the 6.0 GB/s transfer capacity of the hard drive is not compatible with the MacBook Pro. The drive came with 4 jumper pins but no jumper and no label diagram to set a slower transfer rate. I called Seagate, Newegg, OWC, and Apple, but no one has compatibility info for my MacBook Pro. To them, it appears I am running the first tests of this new technology with an 'older' MacBook Pro.
My MBP has had no issues - I'd like to keep her going with the optimum internal hard drive capacity, but don't necessarily want to set up a test bench in my house (though my kids would enjoy destroying it) and pay several shipping and restocking fees to test new hard drives.
The original drive had a 1.5 GB/s transfer rate. Does anyone know the maximum transfer rate compatible with a 2007 MacBook Pro? 3.0 GB/s? 1.5 GB/s? Thank you.

No spinning hard drive will transfer data faster then 60-80MB a second. The XT models have a flash storage area that is used when reading and writing data that can make it Appear faster in some situations. That flash memory if only 8 or 16GBs in side, I forget which one.
The drie is rated to work on 6GB SATA bus but it certainly can not transfer data that fast. It should be backword compatible to work on slower buses.
Your drive is 750GBs in size. Not wure where you are getting this 5.5TB (that is 5.5 Tera Bytes which is 5500 Giga Bytes. Your drive is under 1TB)
What are you using to partition the drive? Disk Utilities from the original install DVD?
You need to install on your old drive, Update it from the Apple Website then clone it to the new drive. The version of OSX you are using may not function correctly with that large of a drive. Or get yourself a copy of Snow Leopard, retail disk for $29 from Apple, and do all the partitioning and installing with that version od OSX.

Is it possible to implement SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 in any SAP landscape, what are the minimal version requirements of other SAP systems.
Is there specific information about the backwards compatibility of NetWeaver CE 7.1, like web dynpro.

About the fact that 8x AGP cards in 4x agp slots... Not a problem.. U c, 8x agp is backwords compatible to 4x agp but 8x is not compatible with 2x agp.. So no prob for u there
About the part where u wanna just plug it in and working.. I am not sure about it.. The G4Ti cards eat up so much power that u might (possibly) have to replace the power supply.. U should have a look at these two articles written by Bas before going ahed with the vga card.. As far as compatibillity goes.. No prob

Can PI work with different versions of MQ?

I have requirment to let PI (7.1) communication with different versions of MQ (5.3 and 6.0). However I doubt that this is possible.
As for MQ, the JMS drivers of the MQ needs to be deployed to PI. For MQ 5.3 and 6.0, different drivers (6.0 has additional jar files as 5.0) are to be packaged into com.sap.aii.adapter.lib.sda and deployed to PI. There is no way you can deploy different version of drivers onto the same PI box. even if you can deploy different version of hte driver to PI box, it won't work in runtime, simply because, when the driver is loaded, there is no way to tell PI class loader which version of class (driver) to load.

Business Package Question

All,
We are about to install SAP CRM 2007 business package and I just wanted to check if anyone knows whether it is backword compatible or not.
My other question is let assume we installed this business package to our portal (EP 7.0) but our CRM system is 4.0. Would integration still work? For instance would it impact CRM (4.0) transaction iviews?
I appreciate any help.

It should not affect your existing transaction iViews supposing transaction still exists in the upgraded system.
CRM 2007 is based on WDA as UI where as earlier versions where mainly BSPs,so you need to check what are all thing supported in new version.

Is there a way to "convert" a Creative Cloud .prproj to work with CS6?

I know that Creative Cloud isn't backwords compatible and it can't run on Vista. With that given, is there some way I can convert it through some sort of tool or open source program? I have Vista and my director was a bit ignorant with the difference in the versions. I was ignorant too and I kept getting the "file damaged" error. I need to get this film done soon and I can't upgrade my PC to Win 7 and get CC because of my economic situation. Does anyone know of any tool or program?
PS: Also, if any staff is reading this. I recomend patching CS6 programs and leave a less confusing message. Maybe something along the lines of "This file was saved with a version of Premire Pro tha isn't compatible with CS6"

New iMac 500 GB drives

It seems that the Hitachi and Seagate 500 GB drives are SATA2 drives. Does anyone know if the latest iMac is SATA2 or will these drives just run at the slower SATA speed.

Serial ATA II (3G) drives are backword compatible with SATA 150. The only problem will be whether or not the iMac can read the heads and sectors correctly to give you the full 500GB drive. If it doesn't read it you'll have to partition the drive into 2 smaller drives and go from there.

Wap54g and Wrt300N

I just bought the new Wrt 300N router because i have problems with signal strength in my house. I do have 2* Wap 54g v3.0 and a WRT54g v5.0. I use the APs in bridge modes to connect to the WRT54G. Its just...working and often falls out. I cannot connect the new WRT300N to the APs.. Isnt it backword compatible ? I read that it should be.. I have tried to use the same settings as the WRT54g router, but it will simply not connect ! I have searched for new img for both, but i already have the latest. I really hope someone can help me out

For WAP54G to work in repeater mode with WRT300N you need to make the following setting....
Make sure that you have the latest firmware on both the router and the Access point. (Make sure that you download the firmware for the correct hardware version of the Access Point).
When you enter the MAC address, make sure that you enter the wireless MAC address of the router. To get the wireless MAC address.....login to the router configuration page.......Click on the status page.....when the page is fully loaded .......clickon the sub-tab that says wireless.......you will find the wireless MAC address here.
When configuring the WAP54G in repeater mode, enter the wireless MAC address and then save setting....
Powercycle the whole network.

InDesign CS5 SDK - Can plugins run on previous versions?

Can I create Adobe InDesign Plugins with InDesign CS5 SDK that will also run on previous versions of InDesign such as CS4, CS3?

I totally disagree.
As a plugin developer i am developing solutions for something adobe actually didn't include in their projects.
There also isn't any compare between the amout all plugin developer have to spent to make their plugin compatible with 3 or more different Adobe-Versions and the amout adobe would had to spent to make their SDK backword-compatible.

Need to find pro tax prep software compatible w/Macs. My software maker, Drake, does not have Mac version. I've checked Pro-Series (no) and maybe 1 other. I don't want to spend Lacert kind of $$ (neither do the majority of longtime Lacert users apparently). Obviously, no Turbo Tax, Tax Cut or any other commercial, deduction & crdit missing commercial software. They would ned to have the ability to 1) convert a few years of Drake to their program, 2) Covert files created on PC to files that 10 OS could use. Also, would like them to have reasonable PPR program, free efile, free unlimited states, capable of 1040, 1065, 1120, & (S), 1041, 990. Built in tax knowledge base. I'd be eternally indebted to you if you found sometghing as intuitive and value oriented as Drake but for OS 10. BEGINNING TO THINK APPLE bends over backwords for artistic tools but not so much business tools. Too bad, I've had a few tax returns that have bordered on art.
I will likely need to add Parallels & Windows 7 OS, preferably 64-bit to this Macbook Air. If so, I do not think I have sufficient memory or storage so would like to download & install onto NFTS (sp?) formatted 1TB HD. Bill I've also run into a very similar problem, I own many Macs but I've had a PC for Tax Stuff. My PC broke and I refused to buy another one so I began to search for an alternative. Window's Emulators have given me so much trouble with my Tax Software.
However, I've since found out that Intuit has a cloud based tax solution that works with a MAC because it's all done online. Which means you'll need a reliable internet connection whenever you want to prepare a client's return.
It's suppose to support all of the major returns (1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120S and 990)
I've yet to use this solution, but it's the best thing that I've been able to find so far. This is what I'll be using this upcoming Tax Season.

Mail app deleted and reinstall wont open, says not compatible with OSX

i accindetally deleted my mail app and emptied the trash, when I tried to reinstall from the startup disk, it installs but wont open, saying that the version of mail is not compatible with the version of OSX (10.5.8)

There is no downloadable version of Mail.app - it comes with the operating system i.e. on your install disks.

There have been a few reports on here where Corsair RAM seems to have caused users a lot of grief with crashes.
The recommendation on here, mostly, is to only buy RAM from macsales.com or crucial.com as they guarantee their modules will work and offer a no quibble lifetime guarantee.
I'd put the original RAM back in, return the Corsair chips for a refund and re-order from one of those two companies.
