WLS 6.1 SP2 and Apache 1.3.26 Windows NT/2000

Hi,
Is there an Apache plugin available for WLS 6.1 (SP2) and Apache 1.3.26 running
on Windows NT/2000?
thanks

I've solved my own problem. I learned that there was a sp4 (let alone a
sp3) for WLS. Installed that and the problem went away. Sorry for the
noise.

I'm using version 1.1b3 of struts. I'm having no problems with
version 1.0.2 of struts.
I'm guessing its complaining about the manifest file in struts.jar,
but I don't understand why.
Here's my version info and the stack trace (my web app is called
findme in this example). Thanks in advance.

  • WLS 6.1 SP3 and apache plugin

    Hello,
    I have WLS 6.1 SP3 and apache 1.3.26 installed on solaris 8.
I enabled the weblogic Weblogic Plug-In Enabled for my wls server and
then I configured my apache server like the following:
    1) I used mod_wl.so that comes with wls under
    \bea\wlserver6.1\lib\solaris
    2) Then I loaded that module using APACHE_HOME/bin/apxs -i -a -n
    weblogic mod_wl.so
When I load the module I get the following:
[Thu Jan 15 10:05:53 2004] [warn] Loaded DSO libexec/mod_wl.so uses
plain Apache 1.3 API, this module might crash under EAPI!
    please recompile it with -DEAPI)
    /usr/apache/bin/apachectl start: httpd started
    I don't understand that message
    3) The following lines were added to httpd.conf:
    LoadModule weblogic_module libexec/mod_wl.so
    AddModule mod_weblogic.c
    4) Then I added the following to the httpd.conf:
    <IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
    WebLogicHost 10.1.10.205(my weblogic IP)
    WebLogicPort 7020 (my weblogic port)
    FileCaching On
    MatchExpression *.jsp
    </IfModule>
The problem is that the apache server is not able to redirect the jsp
calls to the WLS server and I'm always getting "The page cannot be
    displayed"
Any information that might guide me to solve this problem is appreciated

Please try the mod-wl-ssl.so module shipped with weblogic, as this module is compiled with -DEAPI flag

    Steven,
The CGIServlet for WebLogic will not run a CGI that doesn't have an extension.
Just add and extension to your executable and it should run fine.

  • Installing Coldfusion 9 and Apache 2.2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard

I'm having issues getting ColdFusion 9 working with Apache 2.2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.
The server is brand new and it's a fresh install of Apache and ColdFusion 9.
Having installed Apache, I tested the web server and it was working fine, so I proceeded to install ColdFusion 9. I attempted to restart the Apache server through the Apache Service monitor, only to get the error dialog box 'The requested operation has failed'.
On closer examination of the Windows error log, I saw the following error:
The Apache service named  reported the following error: >>>
httpd.exe: Syntax error on line 488 of C:/Program Files (x86)/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load C:/ColdFusion9/runtime/lib/wsconfig/1/mod_jrun22.so into server: The Apache service named is not a valid Win32 application.
I updated the ColdFusion installation to 9.0.1 in case there was an issue with version 9.0 and Apache. Still no joy.
After a bit of research, I thought perhaps there was an issue with the mod_jrun22.so file (since when I commented out the reference to that file from the Apache config file, the Apache HTTP server started without any problem). I tried replacing the mod_jrun22.so with the 32 bit version (extracted from the wsconfig.jar file), but that made no difference either.
I have tried a number of things. I have run wsconfig and uninstalled all web server connectors and then re-created them.
I have to use Apache and IIS is not an option (I use rewrite rules extensively in an existing live installation and have many sites set up in a vhosts file), so please - no suggestions to use IIS instead.
The system requirements on http://www.adobe.com/sea/products/coldfusion/systemreqs/ state that Coldfusion 9 will work with Apache 2.2.17 and later on Windows 64 bit, so why am I having issues with a brand-new installation on a 'virgin' server?
Any help would be much appreciated. I have spent hours trawling the Web for solutions.

I missed an important detail in my opening post. My Coldfusion 9 version is 64 bit - not 32.
OK. Simple solution to this. I'll put it here for other peoples' reference.
To cut a long story short, after phoning Adobe support this morning I was told that you can't run a 64 bit version of ColdFusion with a 32 bit web server. In essence, the web server software and the ColdFusion server software must be the same - either 32 or 64 bit.
Apache is only officially released as a 32 bit version, but there is a 64 bit unofficial version available from http://www.blackdot.be/?inc=apache/binaries, so I downloaded that and installed it, based on the instructions at http://www.elxis.org/guides/developers-guides/64bit-apache-php-mysql-windows.html.
Once I'd installed the 64bit version of Apache, the installation of Coldfusion 9 64 bit went smoothly and all appears to be working just fine now (well, I can get to the ColdFusion Administrator page and I have successfully updated the server software to ColdFusion 9.0.1).
The fact that you can't mix different 'bit' versions of software in this way may be obvious, but it wasn't obvious to me. Having been an early adopter of a 64 bit version of Vista on my own PC, I never experienced these kind of problems before. Software installed itself into the corresponding locations on my PC without any problem and just worked. This is the first time I've run into this problem.
Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any information regarding this very important requirement on the system requirements pages, so I suggested to the support engineer that he may want to make the recommendation that the page is amended to clarify the situation: e.g.
IMPORTANT: 64 bit versions of ColdFusion require 64 bit versions of web server software to function. You can not mix 32 bit and 64 bit versions of web servers and ColdFusion server.
Hope this helps someone else out.

the module for that will be included in the next Service Pack for6.1(SP4)
    and 7.0(SP2).
The problem with Apache 2 is that when a new release comes out a newmodule

I'm trying to set this up (initially just apache in front of a single
    WLS
server but ultimately I want to put it in front of a cluster).
    I've installed Apache 2.0.40.
I've copied the mod_wl_20.so file into the apache modules folder.
I've edited the httpd.conf file and added the line:
    LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl_20.so
When I run apache -t to check the configuration I get the following:
    C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\bin>apache -t
Syntax error on line 173 of C:/Program Files/Apache
    Group/Apache2/conf/httpd.conf:
    Cannot load C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/modules/mod_wl_20.sointo
server: The specified procedure could not be found.
    So what's going on here?
Looking at previous postings it sounds like there's an issue with
    versions
of apache after 2.0.39 but I can't find a download for that version. Also,
it sounded like the issues were for WLS 7, not 6.1. Can this work
    with
2.0.40 or am I wasting my time?
If I get the mod_wl_20.so from dev2dev I get the "incompatible plugin"
message that has been mentioned in this group already.
    Any suggestions appreciated,

    Steven,
The CGIServlet for WebLogic will not run a CGI that doesn't have an extension.
Just add and extension to your executable and it should run fine.

I have tried moving things, removing things, adding things and nothing seems
to work....it's almost as though the NSAPI, etc. are being ignored.
I've attached my magnus.conf and obj.conf files (I cut and pasted them into a
single file so I could upload it). Can anyone help me out here...I've been working
for weeks on this and can't seem to get any answers.
    Thanks!

    that
I have been finding are either incomplete, have typo's and are mostly Windows

(ie. with the .dll's, paths, examples, etc.)
My problem is that our old iPlanet 4.x works fine...everything proxies,
    etc. iPlanet
6 just doesn't want to seem to communicate with WLS 6.1 SP2 We tried many
    of the
saem things from the 4.x magnus & obj.confs...but things look somewhat different
in iPlanet 6.x (did they move tings..such as the fn's from one to the other,
    etc.)
If so..and there are big differences in installing iPlanet 4.x vs. 6.x
    then many
of the docs out there are inaccurate. Does anyone know if there is a newer
    version
of the NSAPI plug-in for Unix.
I would love to see a basic, working set of magnus.conf obj.conf, MIME,etc
    from someone
who has actually gotten NSAPI to work between WLS 6.1 and iPlanet 6 on Unix

It blows my mind that 4.x works and 6.x doesn't. An updated NSAPI plug-in

  • XMLSPY Special Edition for BEA WebLogic 8.1 and WLS 8.1 sp2

    Hi,
I'm a newbie for WebLogic Server. I started with WLS 8.1 sp2 since I got the book "J2EE Applications and BEA WebLogic Server 2nd Edition" which was written for WLS 8.1.
While XMLSPY Special Edition for BEA WebLogic (version 5.4 something, built in 2003) is indeed packaged with WLS 8.1 sp2 and can be installed, but it'll pop up a window (ALTOVA License Manager) everytime when I try to use it. This window pops up because the license key is not installed during the installation and therefore can't be used unless a valid key is provided.
I wonder whether I really need to get XMLSPY Special Edition for BEA WebLogic 8.1 working in order to use WLS 8.1 just for the purpose of learning. If so, can someone share with me the the key-code for XMLSPY Special Edition for BEA WebLogic 8.1 please?
BTW, I tried to find something useful to this question/problem at ALTOVA website, no luck at all.
    Thank you very much.
    JF

    Hi Ravi,
Thanks very much for your very helpful reply.
I got into the problem with xmlspy while I was trying to figure out why the WLS admin console missing the left pane/sidebar. There was only one non-expandable dot sign at the lefttop in the admin console. When I right-click on that little dot icon, the pulldown menu shows one option is to use XMLSPY to check (something along that line). Also, I see the XMLSPY button at the left bottom of my W2003 windows (just next to IE button). So, either way when I invoked XMLSPY I would get that pop up window which tells me there choices: type in a key-code, request for a trial key, or buy a license key. But eventually, I figured out the way to fix my problem - installing a newer version of j2sdk code. However, I wasn't sure whether the xmlspy issue would a hidden problem further down the road for me to learn WLS 8.1.
You're absoluately right commenting on the the right version of WLS to use at the beginning of learning WLS.
I have been VMWare Workstation for several months. I've created a CentOS 5.4 VM with WLS 11g installed. I played with with WLS 11g for a while and even followed through an Oracle online tutorial for that version. But I'm just used to learn something with a hard copy of book and I happen to have this old book on WLS 8.1 which seems to be highly rated before. I may continue to go through this book quickly if I can. However, if I experience too many hard problems down the road, I won't waste too much more time on this path. My long term goal is of course to learn more and better about WLS 11g and other Oracle related framework and tools. There is too much to learn. But the good thing is that Oracle provides everything free to learn. Also, I'm very encouraged by the quality of the Oracle tech group where I can turn for very useful help.
    Thanks again and best regards,

  • WLS 8.1 Deployment and memory usage

Running WLS 8.1 SP2 and deploying (always manually) our application using the weblogic.Deployer tool, I am noticing a 6-8MB loss of available heap after each deploy. As you might imagine, these add up, if we redeploy 10 times in a given server instance, we end up with an Out of Memory error.
This really isn't an issue with our production apps, but is for us during development. Have there been any reports of memory/resource leaks in 8.1 deployments? I had thought it might be the JMS queues that start up and are shut down as part of our ApplicationListener, but it seems (via the console) that there is nothing extra lying around (at least not that's visible). In fact, the deployment seems to do what is promised - the system is in a consistent state after each one - except for this reduction in available memory. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

re-started if it for some reason crashes while excecuting?

  • Iplanet 6.x, NSAP & WLS 6.1 SP2

This is very strange. I can get NSAPI with iplanet 4.x to come up fine (everything proxies, etc. as it should). When we try to get iPlane 6.x working with NSAPI and WLS 6.1 SP2...nothing..doesn't work. We're running everything on Solaris.
Does anyone have or know of some good documentation that might describe how to get NSAPI working between WLS 6.1 and iPlanet 6...all the examples I've been seeing are mostly Windows paths, .dlls', etc. I'd love to see some working magnus.conf & obj.conf, etc. using WLS6.1 SP2 and iPlanet 6...we're not clustered and we're not using SSL (yet) so it's pretty vanilla.
What's blowing my mind is why iplanet 4.x works and 6.x doesn;t?? I wonder if the differences between the two are really that great. I checked BEA's doc...and like I said...it seemed a bit cryptic...someone told me ther was a typo or two regarding what was to go in magnus or was it obj.conf...I don't recall..it's just frustrating trying to get NSAPI up and running with WLS 6.1 SP2 and iPlanet 6. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Thanks Kumar. Does the syntax change (such as WebLogicCluster=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) if
we are running a single instance of WebLogic (a non-clustered environment)?
    Thanks,

  • DB2 type 2 driver blocking WLS 8.1 SP2  on startup

    Hi,
I use DB2 type 2 driver with WLS 8.1 SP2 and did configure a jdbc connection pool as described in edocs. But when I start the server and the server tries to deploy the jdbc connection pool, the server hangs. I took some thread dumps and the thread to load the driver seems to be stuck, as it always shows the same stack trace.
Did anybody manage to use this driver? Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Nicole

Sorry, it is running now. There was a misspelling in the environment variable DB2INSTANCE and therefore the requested instance was not reachable. Still interesting, that this can even prevent the server from booting. Now that I corrected the variable in the environment, everything is fine.

  • Wls 7.0 sp2 proxy plugin issue with iplanet6.x and wls 6.1 sp3 app server

    Hi,
I've a setup with iplanet 6.x webserver using the wls 7.0 sp2 proxy plugin to
route requests to the clustered app server instances (2 of them) that are in wls
    6.1 sp3.
The issue is, I'm noticing that the session is not sticky and is getting routed
onto the other app server instance. The error that I see in the wlproxy.log is
    as follows:
    *******Exception type [PROTOCOL_ERROR] raised
    at line 654 of URL.cpp
Thu Nov 13 11:30:08 2003 failure on sendRequest() w/ recycled connection
    to Instance1:7001, numfailures=1
    Thu Nov 13 11:30:08 2003 Marking Instance1:7001 as bad
Thu Nov 13 11:30:08 2003 got exception in sendRequest phase:
    PROTOCOL_ERROR [line 654 of URL.cpp]: unexpected EOF
reading HTTP status at line 1010
Thu Nov 13 11:30:08 2003 Failing over after sendRequest exception
    Thu Nov 13 11:30:08 2003 attempt #1 out of a max of 5
Has anyone seen this issue? Can anyone explain why this issue is occuring.?
    Thanks.

Did you find a solution for this problem?
I have somthing very similar going on where I am currently working.
    Thanks!
