WLS 8.1.1 and Apache 2.0.47 on W2K AS

I have downloaded the apache plugin (apache20.zip) but the spec says it is only
comaptible with v2.0.39.
Will the plugin work with v2.0.47?
Is there a plugin available for v2.0.47?
Will I have to install apache v2.0.39 instead?
Thanks in advance for your help

Thanks Eric,
you know what I'm going to ask next right?
Any ideas when SP4 comes out?

The next version of Apache that we will support will be 2.0.42/2.0.43
and
the module for that will be included in the next Service Pack for6.1(SP4)
and 7.0(SP2).
The problem with Apache 2 is that when a new release comes out a newmodule
needs to be compiled. Most of the time. For 2.0.42/2.0.43 this is notthe
case.

I'm trying to set this up (initially just apache in front of a single
WLS
server but ultimately I want to put it in front of a cluster).
I've installed Apache 2.0.40.
I've copied the mod_wl_20.so file into the apache modules folder.
I've edited the httpd.conf file and added the line:
LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl_20.so
When I run apache -t to check the configuration I get the following:
C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\bin>apache -t
Syntax error on line 173 of C:/Program Files/Apache
Group/Apache2/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/modules/mod_wl_20.sointo
server: The specified procedure could not be found.
So what's going on here?
Looking at previous postings it sounds like there's an issue with
versions
of apache after 2.0.39 but I can't find a download for that version. Also,
it sounded like the issues were for WLS 7, not 6.1. Can this work
with
2.0.40 or am I wasting my time?
If I get the mod_wl_20.so from dev2dev I get the "incompatible plugin"
message that has been mentioned in this group already.
Any suggestions appreciated,
-Dominic

    Hi,
Is there an Apache plugin available for WLS 6.1 (SP2) and Apache 1.3.26 running

I've solved my own problem. I learned that there was a sp4 (let alone a
sp3) for WLS. Installed that and the problem went away. Sorry for the
    noise.

  • WLS 6.1 SP3 and apache plugin

    Hello,
    I have WLS 6.1 SP3 and apache 1.3.26 installed on solaris 8.
I enabled the weblogic Weblogic Plug-In Enabled for my wls server and
then I configured my apache server like the following:
    1) I used mod_wl.so that comes with wls under
    \bea\wlserver6.1\lib\solaris
    2) Then I loaded that module using APACHE_HOME/bin/apxs -i -a -n
    weblogic mod_wl.so
When I load the module I get the following:
[Thu Jan 15 10:05:53 2004] [warn] Loaded DSO libexec/mod_wl.so uses
plain Apache 1.3 API, this module might crash under EAPI!
    please recompile it with -DEAPI)
    /usr/apache/bin/apachectl start: httpd started
    I don't understand that message
    3) The following lines were added to httpd.conf:
    LoadModule weblogic_module libexec/mod_wl.so
    AddModule mod_weblogic.c
    4) Then I added the following to the httpd.conf:
    <IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
    WebLogicHost 10.1.10.205(my weblogic IP)
    WebLogicPort 7020 (my weblogic port)
    FileCaching On
    MatchExpression *.jsp
    </IfModule>
The problem is that the apache server is not able to redirect the jsp
calls to the WLS server and I'm always getting "The page cannot be
    displayed"
Any information that might guide me to solve this problem is appreciated

  • WLS and Apache Server

    Hi all,
I'd like to use Apache Server to serve static HTML pages and WLS to serve JSP pages.
I wonder what solution is better: Dedicate one machine to Apache and one to WLS in
order to scale better or it's better to keep both server on one machine to reduce
network traffic (caused by redirects) ?
    Thanks

I found this link to a .pdf that I believe explains the difference between OHS and Apache and what the web server plug-ins do. See this link:

  • Installation of webgate on Solaris (sparcv9) with WLS 10.3.5 and Apache2

Problem Description: We have installed IDM 11g and OAM 10.1.4.3 on RHEL5.5 hosts, respectively. We have successfully installed all the components:
    Environment Details:
    - Server1 -- 64 bit Intel RHEL5
Fusion Middleware Identity Management - 11.1.1.2
    WLS 10.3.2
    ODSM,OID,OVD
    DB 10.2.0.4
    - Server 2 32-bit Intel RHEL5
    OAM 10.1.4.3
    OHS 11.1.1.2
After successfully installing these hosts, we needed to create a webhost from where we could test our protected resources. This host would have a sparc v9 OS, include WLS 10.3.5, and use apache2 as its web server. These have all been successfully installed by root and are running.
Our next step was to create the webgate/access gate on the OAM host and setup the necessary policy. This was successful.
We then copied Oracle_Access_Manager10_1_4_3_0_sparc-s2_APACHE2_WebGate to the host and started the installation. Since the host is headless (just a host -- no keyboard, mouse, or gui attached to it) we have to ssh to the host and execute all the installs from the command line without gui. When we got to entering the webgate id and hit return... the process just ended without any error or logfiles. We are assuming that at that point the webgate software was installed but not configured.
We went ahead and tried the configureWebGate script:
    ./start_configureWebGate -i /opt/oracle/middleware/webgate -l WebGate
ld.so.1: configureWebGate: fatal: /opt/oracle/middleware/webgate/access/oblix/tools/configureWebGate/../../../oblix/lib/libstdc++.so.5: wrong ELF data format: ELFDATA2LSB
    Killed
We have successfully installed OAM and IDM many times and have installed webhosts as well... but the webhosts have always been RHEL5 with WLS and OHS instead of Sparc, wls, and apache. Is there anything special about a sparc or apache install?
WLS and apache were installed as root... we have tried installing the webgate as root, oracle, even apache... but get the same results. The gcc libs are downloaded and available, but the error we see during configuration seems to indicate that they are not found. We have tried seting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to include the directory containing the libs.
Edited by: OldGuy on Jul 7, 2011 4:04 AM

On another note... is there a Sparc equivalent for the mod_wl_ohs.conf where we would place
    <Location /<deployed app>>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicHost <weblogichost>
    WebLogicPort 7001
    </Location>
It appears that this goes into the apache httpd.conf file, correct? Or does the mod_wl_ohs.conf equivalent exist?
We have just about completed everything in regard to being able to include a solaris host in our list of hosts that are tied to OAM. The webgate was created and software installed, the deployed app protected, etc... Everything that we have done for Linux and XP in the past we have done for this Sparc host.
When we try to access the Sparc's protected uri... nothing happens. The browser stays blank... the url does not change to display the oamsso login.html (as the other installs do)... nothing is returned... no error, no remarks, no logfile entries... just a blank browser.

  • Sessions wth WL8.1 and Apache Plug In

We are currently facing problems with session failover with WL 8.1(SP4) and Apache(2.0.54) plugin.
Just wanted to know if session replication works across different subnets.
We have Managed Servers running on different subnets which are part of a single cluster. Session replication works (tested with the sample InMemRepClient application supplied with weblogic) when machines within the subnet are up and fails when machines within the same subnet are down, although machines are up in a different subnet.
Does weblogic allow session replpication to work across different clusters with different subnets?
Is this a limitaion with WL8.1 and is this session replication work across subnets with WL9?
              Thanks.

I believe that we recommend having all the managed srevers in a single subnet. However, even if the cluster spans more than one subnet, you can configure the Multicast Time-To-Live (TTL) parameter for the cluster and it will work fine. Please have a look on following pieces of documentation:
"If Your Cluster Spans Multiple Subnets in a WAN" on http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/cluster/features.html
              And
"Configure Multicast Time-To-Live (TTL)" on http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/cluster/setup.html#732108
              Hope this helps.

  • WLS with the HttpClusterServlet or Apache with proxy plug-in?

I'm newbie with WebLogic Server cluster.
Please tell me which is better for load balancing for WLS cluster? WLS with the HttpClusterServlet or Apache HTTP Server Plug-In? And which is recommended for production environment?
    Many thanks.

Apache with plug-in, as this is easier configurable.
For the HttpClusterServlet all the configuration goes into web.xml which has to be packaged as a war file and deployed to WebLogic.
When any change is needed you have to edit the web.xml file, package it again and redeploy it.
An example of the Apache plug-in set-up can be found here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7795 (the load balancing section)
Or if you want to use the Oracle Web-Tier (which includes a precompiled Apache HTTP server): http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7819 (the load balancer section)

I have Windows 2003 SP2 server which meets Oracle requirements. Can anybody explain me step by step how do to that? I have tried, but failed. I couldn't configure domain. Thx in advance.

  • Installing Coldfusion 9 and Apache 2.2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard

I'm having issues getting ColdFusion 9 working with Apache 2.2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.
The server is brand new and it's a fresh install of Apache and ColdFusion 9.
Having installed Apache, I tested the web server and it was working fine, so I proceeded to install ColdFusion 9. I attempted to restart the Apache server through the Apache Service monitor, only to get the error dialog box 'The requested operation has failed'.
On closer examination of the Windows error log, I saw the following error:
The Apache service named  reported the following error: >>>
httpd.exe: Syntax error on line 488 of C:/Program Files (x86)/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load C:/ColdFusion9/runtime/lib/wsconfig/1/mod_jrun22.so into server: The Apache service named is not a valid Win32 application.
I updated the ColdFusion installation to 9.0.1 in case there was an issue with version 9.0 and Apache. Still no joy.
After a bit of research, I thought perhaps there was an issue with the mod_jrun22.so file (since when I commented out the reference to that file from the Apache config file, the Apache HTTP server started without any problem). I tried replacing the mod_jrun22.so with the 32 bit version (extracted from the wsconfig.jar file), but that made no difference either.
I have tried a number of things. I have run wsconfig and uninstalled all web server connectors and then re-created them.
I have to use Apache and IIS is not an option (I use rewrite rules extensively in an existing live installation and have many sites set up in a vhosts file), so please - no suggestions to use IIS instead.
The system requirements on http://www.adobe.com/sea/products/coldfusion/systemreqs/ state that Coldfusion 9 will work with Apache 2.2.17 and later on Windows 64 bit, so why am I having issues with a brand-new installation on a 'virgin' server?
Any help would be much appreciated. I have spent hours trawling the Web for solutions.

I missed an important detail in my opening post. My Coldfusion 9 version is 64 bit - not 32.
OK. Simple solution to this. I'll put it here for other peoples' reference.
To cut a long story short, after phoning Adobe support this morning I was told that you can't run a 64 bit version of ColdFusion with a 32 bit web server. In essence, the web server software and the ColdFusion server software must be the same - either 32 or 64 bit.
Apache is only officially released as a 32 bit version, but there is a 64 bit unofficial version available from http://www.blackdot.be/?inc=apache/binaries, so I downloaded that and installed it, based on the instructions at http://www.elxis.org/guides/developers-guides/64bit-apache-php-mysql-windows.html.
Once I'd installed the 64bit version of Apache, the installation of Coldfusion 9 64 bit went smoothly and all appears to be working just fine now (well, I can get to the ColdFusion Administrator page and I have successfully updated the server software to ColdFusion 9.0.1).
The fact that you can't mix different 'bit' versions of software in this way may be obvious, but it wasn't obvious to me. Having been an early adopter of a 64 bit version of Vista on my own PC, I never experienced these kind of problems before. Software installed itself into the corresponding locations on my PC without any problem and just worked. This is the first time I've run into this problem.
Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any information regarding this very important requirement on the system requirements pages, so I suggested to the support engineer that he may want to make the recommendation that the page is amended to clarify the situation: e.g.
IMPORTANT: 64 bit versions of ColdFusion require 64 bit versions of web server software to function. You can not mix 32 bit and 64 bit versions of web servers and ColdFusion server.
Hope this helps someone else out.

  • WLS 8.1 Deployment and memory usage

Running WLS 8.1 SP2 and deploying (always manually) our application using the weblogic.Deployer tool, I am noticing a 6-8MB loss of available heap after each deploy. As you might imagine, these add up, if we redeploy 10 times in a given server instance, we end up with an Out of Memory error.
This really isn't an issue with our production apps, but is for us during development. Have there been any reports of memory/resource leaks in 8.1 deployments? I had thought it might be the JMS queues that start up and are shut down as part of our ApplicationListener, but it seems (via the console) that there is nothing extra lying around (at least not that's visible). In fact, the deployment seems to do what is promised - the system is in a consistent state after each one - except for this reduction in available memory. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Second question: is WebLogic server (Administration or managed server) automatically
re-started if it for some reason crashes while excecuting?

  • WebLogic and Apache

    Hi,
We are developing an application using WebLogic ejb and servlet and we
are planning to use Apache as the HTTP server. Are there any know
              issues about this combination?
According to the manual, the mod_proxy of Apache can be used to link
Apache and Weblogic. Has anybody done that?
              Thanks,
              Cecil Pang

This doesn't sound like a definitive answer. Are you saying we will NOT
support you if you use Apache?
Should it work? What are people doing wrong? The answer below isn't
              much help IMHO.
