Wma auxiliary jack to iPod nano?

okay. here's the scoop. i am trading in my honda cr-v with the honda musiclink for ipods that never worked properly. in addition, honda has ceased shipment of new honda musiclinks until they can fix ongoing issues.
i am going to buy the honda element ex. there is an "auxiliary" port on the dash that looks like the size of a headset port. it is for windows media audio players. while i have NO expectations of being able to control my iPod through the stereo, is there a cable that i can use to connect my iPod to this port? is it just like connecting my macbook to my iHome?
thanks so much for your consideration and help!

Did you read the specs?
http://automobiles.honda.com/models/audio.asp?ModelName=Element
"...The 270-watt AM/FM/CD 7-speaker audio system on board the EX model lets you play your MP3s or Windows Media® Audio (WMA)-compatible CDs. Along with standard XM® Satellite Radio* the EX model also has an auxiliary input jack for direct plug and play from most MP3 players..."
All you need is a mini-plug on both ends equipped audio patch cable

  • Auxiliary Cable issue on ipod nano 6th

Well, i bought a auxiliary cable for my ipod nano 6th gen it works perfectly till the screen 'sleeps'(the music or podcast stops), after that i have to turn it on again and press play. Can anyone help me with this issue?

You are not inserting the cable all the way in. The headphone jack is quite tight on the 6th generation Nano, make sure the plastic on the plug of the cable is flush with the body of the Nano.

  • Ipod nano 2 generation right headphone won't work, issue with jack (several headphones were tried)

For some reason, my ipod nano 2nd generation, doesn't play music through one of the headphones. i tried several pairs of headphones. but just one will work. any suggestions? obviously out of warranty

You'll need to replace the headphone jack in the Nano, you can send it off to a 3rd party repair site (http://www.iresq.com) or buy the part and do it yourself (http://www.ifixit.com).

  • Ipod nano 7th GEN no audio out from head phones jack

I am trying to use my Ipod nano 7th Gen with a monster wireless remote that connects to the charging and sync connection. The remote works fine and I can control the Ipod just fine with it, but when I connect the headphones to the headphone jack there is no audio. If I remove the wireless remote receiver from the charging sync connection the headphones jack works just fine. I am using a lighting speed to a 30 pin adaptor because the monster remote receiver is of the 30 pin format if that matters.
Please let me know if this is normal or if there is a work around. My intention is to use the Ipod connected to a motorcycle sound system using the headphones connection to connect it to the motorcycle system amp and control the Ipod wirelessly.
    Thank you!

Can you provide a link to the monster product, or the model name/number?  If it's a Bluetooth product, it seems superfluous to connect the receiver to the dock connector, because the 7th gen nano has built in Bluetooth.
So, IF the remote control device is Bluetooth, you may be able to pair to it from the nano without connecting the receiver device to the dock connector.
If it's not Bluetooth, you may be able to find an equivalent remote control device that IS Bluetooth, and not need to connect anything to the dock connector, which seems to be the source of the problem.

  • 5g ipod nano earphone jack doesn't work, but earphones are OK. Sound of music comes from ipod heard w/o earphone jack plugged in . How, where to fix jack?

6th g ipod nano earphone jack doesn't produce sound with earphones that work on another 6th ipod. fairly loud music sound heard from ipod w/ no earphone plugged in. Hoe and where to get it fixed?

I fixed my nano sound problem. Went to settings, hit center button, scrolled down to reset settings, hit center button, scrolled up to reset and hit center button. Walah,  Now earphone jack delivers sound to ear buds like before. AND yes the jack was always plugged in all the way. Simple problem, simple solution.

  • Ipod nano 7th generation Headphones jack dented :(

ipod nano 7th generation Headphones jack dented help? how much does it cost to un-dent it? is it even possible? I can't put my headphones in. :((

This is rediculasly common for this device. Hopefully Apple gets the design right next time around by moving the earphone jack ever so slightly towards the center.
Anyway, are there any suggustions for moving it back properly yourself?

  • I can't download WMA onto my iPOD nano

How do I transfer, from OverDrive Media Console, WMA audio books onto my iPOD nano?

If you are running windows 8 like I am then here is how I solved my headache....(after 8 months of trying everything short of shooting my computer!!)... download the desktop version of overdrive media console (not the omc for windows 8--it only does mp3)..then set ipod compatability for windows 7.  It also helped to set the spoken voice audio to podcast...sped things up alot.  I got rid of my omc for windows 8....too many headaches.  Also, make sure you are running the latest version of itunes and overdrive.  hope this helps.

  • 5g ipod nano 8GB no sound through ear buds or headphone jack only when docked.

5g ipod nano 8GB no sound through ear buds or headphone jack only when docked. any suggestions? i don't want to replace any of the parts inside if at all possible.
I have a 5th generation 8GB iPod nano. I bout it off of eBay in May of 2010 and it has worked great until now (Apr 2011). The 5th gen plays music through the headphone jack even when no ear buds are plugged in. I was using it one day and it just stopped. I tried resetting it manually and automatically and I tried reinstalling iTunes. Nothing has worked. Now it won't even play sound though the ear buds (or the aux hook up in my car), only when it is docked to my iHome. Does anyone have any suggestions? I dont want to replace the iPod or any parts inside if at all possible. ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOMED! THANKS!

Headphone jacks are only good for so many in and out usages.  Usually its the headphone jack itsefl that goes bad first but sometimes it is the internal part.  If you are lucky you can clean out the inside and get it to work.
These devices are not made to last for someone who actually has those headphones around there neck and acually uses there listening devices through out the day plugging it in and out.  This is not in any way an Apple thing, it is a problem with many devices.  The male ends tend to get dirty hanging around then scratch the female end when used.  In fact, using higher end headphones you can really notice even the smallest particles of dust on the male end of plug when used, that is the small popping you might notice when the cord moves.
Hopefully its a problem on the male side of things.
I would recommend a person that wants to use headphones alot to keep a small 2 inch extension plugged into there device that can be replaced when it goes bad inplace of wearing out the original plug.
Again, this is not an Apple problem alone.

  • Anyone have trouble with ipod Nano earphone jacks stop working?

I have had 2 ipod Nano sice 2007 have earphone jacks that have sytopped working. My latest one was purchased in April 2010, and earphone jack stopped working 2 days ago. Anyone else had this issue?
    Thanks!!

I have done some experimenting and testing with my old Classic iPod that uses operating system 3.1.1. I don't think this operating system has changed. However, later generation iPods such as nano, shuffle that use a different operating system seem to work absolutely perfectly in my 2010 Lincoln Navigator, especially the ones without a hard drive (i.e. flash drive). My conclusion is that the Ford SYNC updates have somehow not been backward compatible with the older operating system. I know this can be attributed to Apple for part of the problem but I suspect that Ford somehow did not do enough testing with the older iPod operating systems. Turns out there are probably 7 or more operating systems on iPods and while you would assume that "backward compatibility" is a no-brainer, that seems not to be the case with second party vendors such as Ford SYNC. Personally, I have given up trying to solve this problem and have gone to flash drive and a "line in" option. My old Classic iPod works exceptionally well, plus I have a spare so I can probably use these thing till "H freezes over". Being a older retired American these things may actually last a life time!

  • TS3700 Ipod Nano 6th Gen headphone jack

I have tried everything to insert my headphones correctly. It is just not working. Even pliers wouldn't allow for a satisfying "click". I have read the other related articles, but nothing has helped me.

Get a flashlight and see if there is something stuck in the headphone jack on the Nano. If yes, clean it, if no get it serviced.

  • Ipod Nano 2Gb Plays music but I cannot hear it through any headphone jacks!

I can play the music and it shows that the time is elapsing but I can't hear anything! What is going on? I don't understand. Any advice will help! Thank You!
PS Its a 2GB Refurbished Ipod Nano
    Thanks again!

If none of the above help, then it's probably a service issue.
You can arrange online service here.
    Service request.
Or if an Apple store or Apple authorized service agent is near you, take it there and have them check your iPod.

  • How to connect iPod nano to speaker system

How to connect iPod nano to a stereo amplifier?

    Hello Secullinanjr
Try using an auxiliary cable to connect it to your stereo. Check out the article below for more information and another alternative.

  • I just purchased an iPod Nano (Red) and want to connect to my truck's speakers.  There is no built-in direct port.  What is the best product to buy to make that connection?

I just purchased an iPod Nano (Red) and want to connect to my truck's speakers.  There is no built-in port to connect.  What is the best product to purchase in order to make a connection?  Thx, Robert

Your truck's audio system may not have a specialized docking port for iPods, or a USB port, but does it have a standard "auxiliary" audio input port?  It would look like headphones jack on the iPod.  If so, you can use a cable like this
    http://www.amazon.com/Monster-iCable-Player-Auxiliary-Input/dp/B002AR5XIK
to connect your iPod's output to the car's audio.
Otherwise, if your audio system is old enough to have a casette tape player, you can get a device that looks casette tape with a cable coming out of it, and play your iPod through the casette tape player.  The other way is to get a device for the iPod that sends the audio, through a low-power radio transmitter, to your car's radio (at a frequency that is normally not used by local radio).  From my experience, neither of those methods work well, in terms of maintaining full audio quality.

  • No muscis when the screen sleeps (ipod nano 7th gen)

I bought an ipod nano (7th generation) which seemed to work fine when I plugged it into my car stereo. When I turned it off and came back a short time later, it started ok but then as soon as the screen went black the music stopped. I had to wake it up again to get it to play but then it carried on doing the same thing. My friend tried her iphone and there were no issues. The next time I turned it off and tried it was fine but then did the same thing again when I turned it off. Does anyone know what's causing this? Since it's new I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. There were hardly any instructions about usage with it. There doesn't seem to be anything relevant in settings that I can see.
Your help would be much appreciated?
    R

The headphone jack on a new iPod Nano is very tight. Get a flashlight and inspect it first and clean out any lint/dirt/insects/debris you might find. After that make sure you plug the headset jack all the way in, there should be no gap between the plastic on the headset jack/auxiliary cable and body of the Nano.

  • Can i use my new ipod nano 7th generation on my macbook pro

I registered my new ipod nano 7th generation on my macbook pro.  While on my macbook, I tried to download wma audiobooks from the library using overdrive media console & its not working.....so, I decided to use my windows laptop.  I have the latest version of itunes on both laptops.  (I know I can download & transfer wma audiobooks to my shuffle using overdrive media console & windows laptop.)  I'm getting an error message that says I have to reformat my nano if I want to download wma audiobooks.  Can I use my nano on macbook pro & windows laptop?  will I ever be able to download wma audiobooks to my nano using macbook?

Your iPod Nano will need to be restored in iTunes on the Windows laptop before you can start adding/syncing content over to it.
Or if you want to use it with OverDrive on the Mac, you'll need to download the books as MP3s as WMA is not supported.
