WMA- iTunes = no lyrics?

Why doesn't iTunes copy the painstakingly entered lyrics from a WMA files upon conversion?

Thanks for your prompt reply.
As a matter of course, I do not use WMP. However some messages I receive or sites I visit use WMP audio files.
This fix does not seem to work. Before, I got no sound (with the option set for using the current player). Now, I get this error message.
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."
This is exactly the message I used to get before I reinsatlled my Sound Blaster card.
iTunes works fine.
Thanks.

    iTunes 8 "Lyric" tab under "Get info" is missing....
    Now how do I add lyrics to my songs?!
    How do I restore the lyric tab? Is it part of iTunes 8 new design?
    Thank you!

    Well, it won't show up if it's in WAV format.
    WAV format doesn't have tags for lyrics.

  • ITunes and lyrics

    Hi!, I use "Canto Pod" widget to search and copy lyrics for my songs in iTunes, but from first release of 9th version it doesn't work anymore: clicking on "Features Lyrics" tab it appears the iTunes Top Lyrics window, so it's connected and updated, but that I need "Get iTnes Song" tab says it cannot find anything. Also searching manually find anything.
    Thanks for your help!

    you could uninstall the widget and replace it with an alternative app. there's plenty out there. click here for information.

  • Download karaoke songs from itunes with lyrics

    How do you download karaoke songs purchased on itunes with the lyrics. No video lyrics are attached that I can find to download with it.

    The songs in the iTunes Store labeled "karaoke" are simply instrumental backing tracks in AAC format, not actual karaoke tracks.  They do not have lyrics.
    If you are looking for actual karaoke tracks, check another online store such as BuyKaraokeDownloads.

  • Lyrics on iTunes - "Loading lyrics..." message, but no text

    I like entering lyrics in on my music files. So, I do it the normal way - open iTunes, get info on a music track, then highlight the Lyrics part of the long bar that also has "Video," "Sorting," "Options," etc.
    After I'm finished syncing and launching my Touch, I can play my music - with lyrics on the screen. But with some text-intensive tunes, I get a "Loading lyrics..." message. But the lyrics never come.
    Is there a limit to the amount of text in a music file? How can I handle this "error"?

    I have the same problem.
    It seems that the amount of text is not a factor.
    I've found this (rather rigorous) work-around to work:
    1. Command-click the song in iTunes and select the option "Convert ID3 Tags..."
    2. Select ID tag version 1.1 and click OK.
    The unfortunate side-effect is that, with the lyrics, you also lose the album art, so you may want to copy that out first.
    3. repeat step 1
    4. Now select ID tag version 2.4
    5. Add the lyrics (I use Doug Adams' 'Lyrics via LyricWiki') and re-add the artwork.
    6. Sync your iPod
    I suspect that the root-cause may be some obscure characters being pasted into the lyrics that you can't see, but that causes the iPod to fail loading the lyrics.
    Hope this helps.
    Please let us know.

  • ITunes widget - lyrics

    Does anyone have a good Dashboard Widget where I can get lyrics from to either put directly onto iTunes or copy and paste them , its not that I want to infringe copyright , I just cant make 'em out sometimes .
    Secondary Question , when I buy an album on iTunes , why are the lyrics not included ? as on the album sleeve ?

    While not a Widget, I use this app which costs 8.95 US$.

  • ITunes 6 lyrics bug

    In iTunes 6 whenever I paste lyrics into the field the text ends up pasted twice. I've tried with the mouse menu, the menu and cmd-v. It's all the same.

    This is a truly annoying bug, yes. I found a great free tool on Version Tracker called pearLyrics that looks up lyrics on the web as the song is playing in iTunes and pastes the lyrics directly into the song - only once and not twice. (Uncheck the "Look for chords first" box for just lyrics.) It's not perfect but it works pretty well.
    Still, sometimes I need to find lyrics it can't and want to cut and paste... UGH! It's also impossible to alter the lyrics once they're pasted, the text editing does not work correctly at all. Hope they fix this - and soon.

  • BUG: iTunes truncates lyrics when using COM Interface

    Hi!
    I am using iTunes 6.0.4.2 for Windows (Latest Version at the moment), running under Windows 2000, both in english. I wrote an application that accesses iTunes using the COM Interface, and i am using the latest type library (1.7).
    Everything works fine, except for one odd thing: Lyrics.
    When i get Lyrics from a track, they get truncated - one char for each line break.
    Tried the following: Added the following lyrics to a Track:
    12345678901234567890
    Works fine, when i get the lyrics, i get 20 chars and they are intact.
    Now, i change the Lyrics:
    1234567890
    1234567890
    When i now get the lyrics, i only get a string with 21 characters - the resulting string is
    1234567890<#13><#10>123456789
    (<#13><#10> are representing the ascii chars 13 and 10, not the actual strings <#13><#10>!)
    For every line break I add, i lose a char. With this Lyrics:
    1234567890
    1234567890
    1234567890
    1234567890
    the result is:
    1234567890
    1234567890
    1234567890
    1234567
    iTunes seems to have a problem with line breaks, as they are represented by 2 chars (CR+LF, Ascii 13+10) in Windows rather than 1 char (CR, Ascii 13) in UNIX.
    This seems to be a Bug in iTunes. I tried the following JScript Code:
    var iTunesApp = WScript.CreateObject("iTunes.Application");
    var currTrack = iTunesApp.CurrentTrack;
    var Lyrics = currTrack.Lyrics;
    WScript.Echo("Current Track: " + currTrack.Name);
    WScript.Echo(Lyrics);
    and this gives me:
    Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host Version 5.6
    Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 1996-2001. All rights reserved.
    1234567890
    123456789
    As you see, it truncated the last 0.
    I am doing my real programming in Borland Delphi 7 Personal Edition, and it happens there as well - for every line break, I lose 1 Character.
    The display in iTunes Lyrics-Tab is fine and not truncated, so it just seems to be a bug in the COM-Interface. Not sure where to report them, so i'll just post here. maybe someone knows a remedy?

      Windows 2000   iTunes 6.0.4.2, iTunes Type Library 1.7

    Edit: I just tried a german Version of iTunes 6.0.4.2 on an english Windows 2003 Server with a different Track - same problem here.
    I then downgraded to iTunes 6.0.1.3 on the same machine - same: 1 lost char for each line break. It does not matter if I add "fresh" lyrics using iTunes 6.0.1.3 or if I query the ones made in 6.0.4.2.
    I don't have iTunes 5.0.1 anymore, but I will try to get it to try with this version.

  • How do I convert a .wma Audio file from a pc to .mp3 for itunes on a mac

    I downloaded music from my PC laptop into an external drive. When I connected the external drive to the mac, the .wma Audio files from the PC will not transfer to iTunes on the Mac.
    Thanks for any help.

    iTunes on the PC will convert wma. iTunes on a Mac won't.
    On your PC, add the wma files to iTunes.
    iTunes will convert to whatever you have set in iTunes prefs > General - Import settings.
    Then copy the imported files to the external then File > Add to library on the Mac.

  • Lyrics Double-Pasting in iTunes 6

    Since installing iTunes 6, I find that when I manually paste lyrics they actually paste twice--the last line will be immediately followed by the whole thing all over again. Has anyone else been seeing this happen? The method doesn't matter--Command-V, Edit->Paste, right-clicking, they all produce the same double-pasted result.
    Could it have anything to do with the PearLyric widget? For those who haven't run across this yet, it's an app/widget that will search the web for lyrics to a song then paste them right into your iTunes song file for you. So the only times I go looking for lyrics myself are when PearLyrics has already admitted it can't find them; presumably, then, it shouldn't be interfering, but you never know.
    If others, who don't have PearLyrics installed, are also seeing this happen, then we can safely call it an iTunes bug and I'll go and report it on the Feedback site. If it seems to be a PearLyrics thing, then I should be able to report that to the guy who made it.
    Thanks for any input.

    It's a known bug. To be fixed soon.

  • Lyrics look fine on iTunes, but funny on iPod. Please help

    So I've been taking the time to put lyrics to my songs in iTunes. It's fulfilling, but tedious all at the same time. Anyway, I'm having an issue with the way the lyrics appear on the iPod (its a 5G Video, by the way). Here's an example. In iTunes, the lyrics appear like this:
    "Brother will kill brother
    Spilling blood across the land
    Killing for religion
    Something I don't understand
    Fools like me, who cross the sea
    And come to foreign lands
    Ask the sheep, for their beliefs
    Do you kill on God's command?"
    However, on the iPod itself, the lyrics appear continuously like so:
    "Brother will kill brother Spilling blood across the land Killing for religion Something I don't understand Fools like me, who cross the sea And come to foreign lands Ask the sheep, for their beliefs Do you kill on God's command?"
    I am somewhat OCD, and this issue is absolutely driving me crazy. I've searched Google and these forums (they're a bit difficult to navigate) and I've found nothing on this specific topic. Sorry if I've missed it. But if anyone has any answers, can you please send them my way.
    Thanks for your time,
    Chris

    Phil, thanks for the input. I originally used a lyrics importer program to get the lyrics, so I'm not sure the exactly how it decided to format the imported lyrics. As you mentioned, I went to manually edit the lyrics of the songs. I went to the end of each verse, hit delete twice to get rid of one empty space and then pull the next verse up, and then hit return immediately afterwards to put the next verse back where it should normally go. After I synced the iPod, it came up normally as it should.
    Thanks so much for the advice. This has been driving me nuts for a while now. It seems I have some work to do . Happy Holidays.
    Take care,
    Chris

  • Program to download/tag lyrics in iTunes

    I am trying to find a good program that will automatically download/tag my songs in iTunes for lyrics. I have been using a program called Get Lyrical (version 3.7) but it seems to be too slow and doesn't find all the lyrics (example Allman Brothers I have 7+ albums found 0 lyrics). I would love to have a program that is a direct plugin for iTunes cause it would be great integration. Anyone have any suggestions? Or ways to speed up Get Lyrical....right now when Get Lyrical runs it seems to bog down my machine and I have a Mac Pro 3,1 w/8gb of ram.

    I was using Get Lyrical, but it seems the upgrade to Lion caused it to break.   After a bunch of looking, I came across MPFreaker (http://www.lairware.com/mpfreaker/) which costs $10 (it has a trial mode so you can at least verify it will work for you before buying it).  It has a decent interface and even finds lyrics for songs in Deutsch.

  • Do I need a program to convert wma to itunes (aac?)-or can iTunes do it?

    I have a lot of music that doesn't even show in the music folder of my iTunes library, and the program wont let me import them to convert within iTunes. do I need an independent program, or is there a trick to bring them into iTunes, and then convert? So far, under either 'import' or 'add to library', if its wma, iTunes just ignores the attempt to get the songs into the program.....
    Thanks,
    F

    go to http://crunchgear.com/2007/06/20/musicgiants-wma-lossless-music-drm-free/
    and read about WMA lossless format! (there is actually Super HD at 11,000 bitrate).
    it begins:
    MusicGiants isn’t the most well-known online music download service out there, but they’ve been pumping out WMA Lossless files since 2005. Until a couple weeks ago, all of the super hi-res files were locked down with Windows Media DRM, but no more! Right now you can only get Paul McCartney’s Memory Almost Full DRM-free in truly bit-for-bit identical quality to a CD, but by this fall, MusicGiants will release lots more titles that you can pirate share at will. (The company hasn’t done an official press release yet, but MusicGiants CEO Scott Bahneman recently spilled the beans to Stereophile.)
    It sure makes the iTunes Music Store’s 256Kbps AAC files look pretty wimpy, and it even trumps 7 Digital’s DRM-less 320Kbps MP3s. Will you hear the difference? If you have a super hi-fi audio rig at home then it’s a good bet you will. If you have an iPod, then no, because the iPod can’t hang with any WMA format.
    That officially makes MusicGiants’ files the highest-resolution DRM-less downloads around. Which begs the question: When will Steve Jobs let us download Apple Lossless files on the iTMS? Another question: When will more portable players support WMA Lossless?

  • How to find specific text WITHIN iTunes lyrics?

    I've been trying to figure out how to search within existing iTunes song lyrics for specific words or phrases, for the purpose of making specific playlists of all songs that contain the specified text.
    As an example, I'd like to find all the songs (out of a couple thousand or so) that contain the word "Instrumental" and place them in a list.  Perhaps from there, I'd change all of those songs' Comments to show "[Instrumental]" or some such to make it easier to use some of iTunes built-in tools, or your own excellent ones.
    Or maybe I could look for songs that have the word "Notice" in them, so I can examine their lyrics to spot those which only had partial lyrics auto-loaded to them, so I could do a more thorough manual search.
    Thanks,
      Ed

    I think I'm on the good way with this:
        app.findTextPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
        app.changeTextPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
        app.findTextPreferences.findWhat = "CAR67765756";
        app.changeTextPreferences.changeTo = "bhbdbds"
        found = app.activeDocument.findText (true);
        if(found.length>0)
            for (j = 0; j < found.length; j++)
                found[j].select();
                alert("true");
                app.documents.item(0).changeText();
        else
            alert("false");
        app.findGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = null;
        app.changeGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = null;
