Wma not played by nano p

I just purchase this player 2 days ago ( GB Zen Nano Plus). I love the size, features, etc. However, when I initially loaded some wma songs from my computer onto it, it would only play the intro MP3 track, and would not play the wma tracks, although it listed them in the display and I could scroll through them. I am able to convert them to MP3's and it will play them, but it still will not play the wma's transferred by either Media Player or Creative Media Source?from my library. I can convert them all to MP3's and they all play fine, but that is really alot of trouble, since they are all, or most, stored as lossless wma. Any suggestions?

Lossless WMA is not supported on the Creative players. PB

Help, all purchased music from itunes store will not play on nano, it appears but then skips to the next song.

    Hi there
    Welcome to Discussions
It seems that you've posted your question in the wrong forum. This is the intel-based iMac forum. You will get a better answer if you post your question in the appropriate forum:

I don't know what generation of nano that you have, but I know that if you have a colored nano (blue, green, pink, silver or matte black), you'll want to post in the "2nd Generation" category. Otherwise (either white or black front and silver back) you'll want to post in the "1st Generation" category.

  • Cant download latest version of Itunes.purchased music not playing on NANO.

the problem began when I purchased music on itunes. The songs transferred to the Nano but i wasnt able to play them. it would quickly show the song on the screen but it would revert back to the main menu. I was told the problem was that the software was out of date. So, I ran the new utility (star menu, all programs, ipod entry). tried to download the installer. I was only able to connect the ipod and restore it NOT update it to the latest version. Restoring it would erase all my music on my Nano. PROBLEM #1
went to apple.com and support and download latest Ipod nano software- it is telling me "the requested application was not found on this server". How do I fix this? I paid for this music and cant play it.

So, do you have all your purchased music on your PC? If so, restoring your Nano won't be a problem. The music will just get put back on it when the restore is finished and up update the nano again.
And you know, it's always best to have a backup in case of a hard disk crash....read some of the tales of woe here in discussions about that.

  • Zen Nano 1GB (not plus) not playing DRM audio bo

Okay. So I've read very similar problems here, but none quite like mine. I've read through my manual (actually, I only have the downloaded manuals, and there doesn't seem to be one for a Zen Nano GB... It's not a Plus and it's not a Nano 52MB).
My whole reason for purchasing my Nano was b/c it can play DRM audio files & I want to listen to audio book downloads.
In any case, I know not to drop and drag my DRM files, that won't work.
I got a (refurbished, works fine) Zen Nano GB a few weeks go. If I drag and drop regular mp3 or WMA audio files, they work fine. If I sync regular song files with WMP, they work fine.
It's the DRM files I'm having problems with. I tried sync-ing with WMP , (after opening the DRM file and obtaining the license (these are audio books from NetLibrary.com, and I've followed their instructions as well as those for the Nano). Once I've obtained the license, I sync. The audio book appears on the Nano, but will not play.
I tried updating (or, perhaps it was downgrading) the firmware, and then used WMP 9 to sync, and managed to get one audio book to play. I thought I was ready to go. It was awesome. The whole book played and I enjoyed it.... but... once I finished the book, and re-synced and tried to add a new book.... nothing.
I've re-installed various versions of firmware, tried on WMP and WMP 9 AND tried using Creative's own software to sync (after opening the files in WMP and obtaining the license)... Nothing. Lots of wasted time, tho.
I'm not quite a newbie with mp3 players or computers, but I am capable of "missing" something.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide & please let me know if I forgot anything specific that could aid in any solutions,
    MomLikesMusic (and audio books!)

To "downgrade" firmware (I don't have any idea if that's what it's really called, it's certainly not an upgrade!):
Through another posting on this message board, I found a link to this site:
    http://dapjukebox.altervista.org/mod...ownload&cid=85
which has other firmware versions available (some are still on the Creative downloads page as well, but the oldest ones are not). The site seems to be in Italian (?).
I downloaded and saved (and virus-scanned) the firmware of _0_02.
Then, I followed the installation instructions from another firmware download from Creative:
"To install this firmware, do the following:
    1. Download the [_0_02] file into your local hard disk.
    2. Make sure your player is connected to your computer.
    3. Double-click the downloaded file.
    4. If you are prompted to reset your player, click OK.
    5. If the Find New Hardware dialog box appears on the computer screen, follow the instructions on the screen to complete the wizard.
    6. When the firmware download dialog box appears, click Start and follow the instructions on the screen."
Because I had nothing on my player, I didn't have anything to lose, data-wise. And it worked. One of these days I may try to upgraded the firmware to see if I can still transfer...
I saved a few other firmware downloads (updates) to try in the future -- rather than go hunting for them again.
Please note, the Nano I have isn't listed in the Creative products -- the one I have says Creative Zen Nano GB on it; no where can I find such a thing. Since it's a factory refirbished model I bought off e-bay, I suspected older firmware may work on it... If you have a newer model, it may not work. I'm not an expert (this whole MP3 stuff still boggles my 37-year-old mind sometimes), so be careful what you do to your player!
    Good luck,

  • Zen Nano Plus will not play all trac

My Nano Plus will not playback all tracks installed. My Firmware has been updated to .0.03I have formated the Nano Plus via Windows Explorer.
Tracks have been transferred via Windows Media Player 0 AND Creative MediaSource Organizer 3.30.2 with the same problem. The NanoPlus Mass
Storage Driver has been updated, too. I have tried it on both a desktop AND a notebook PC. The transferred tracks are combinations of WMA and MP3. Both played and unplayed tracks are a combination of
    WMA-protected, WMA-nonprotected, and MP3, 28/59/60/92kbps -
nothing unique about the tracks that will not play.
The tracks have either been ripped from my audio CDs or downloaded via Media Player MSN Music store or MP3 store. I have licensed all tracks and they all play via Windows MediaPlayer and Creative MediaSource Player from my hardri've.
All tracks show up on the Zen Nano Plus in windows explorer and will play from the NanoPlus via Media Player and Creative MediaSource player, but they will not all play through the NanoPlus.
All problem tracks (if transferred via
MediaSource) will either be skipped or the NanoPlus will pause when the NanoPlus is playing or they simply are not
    visible (if transferred via MediaPlayer0).
The problem tracks are not always the same tracks after I have re-transferred them (I have tired 4
times to clean/re-transfer tracks). I have 8 tracks and only 36 will play. When transferred via Windows MediaPlayer0, the tracks are organized into multiple folders. When transferred via Creative MediaSource, they are all in the root directory.
What can I do to get this to work properly?

    That may be it!
My tracks have been transferred with WMP0 into the following Folder structure:
    MUSIC-AUTHOR-ALBUM-Tracks.
In Explorer/MediaSource, there is One MUSIC folder containing 65 AUTHOR folders containing 74 ALBUM folders containg 85 Tracks.
My Zen Nano Plus MENU-MUSIC display shows only 3 Folders -- 3 ALBUM Folders of 36 Tracks -- the tracks that do playback.
Is this just an organizational problem?
If so, it's not very handy to Sync....there is nothing in the manual that explains this!
    I'll re-organize and see.
What is the best FOLDER structure to use?

  • My ipod is not showing up in the left hand column on itunes. I have tried the trouble shooting methods but nothing is working. My ipod nano also will not play.

My ipod nano is not showing up in the left hand column of itunes. It says connected on the ipod and I can find it in my computer but its not there on itunes. I need it as I want to restore it to factory settings. I have tried the troubleshooting methods that are on the Apple website but no luck.
Also my ipod is not playing. I found a way to upload all my music to my new computer. I followed a guide given to me on wiki and it worked. However, since then I cannot get the ipod to play. The menu is there, it turns on, all the playlists are visable but when I press play it does nothing or flicks briefly on to the page to play but then flicks back to the list again. I have tried all the troubleshooting on the Apple website but again nothing. I wanted to restore it to factory settings but to do this you have to be able to access the ipod in the left column on itunes which obviously I can't do. That was happening before the ipod stopped working. The two issues are separate.
Thanks and hope you can help me.

    I have sorted it myself!!
Ipod is now in the top right corner, last time I clicked on it, it ejected it but by clicking on the actual ipod icon then it brings up your ipod. I restored it to factory settings and synced all my music and it now works again. Hope this can help anyone who ends up with the same problem.

  • Ipod Nano 2GB Not Playing Songs

When I turn my Ipod on and try to play a song, it just cycles through all of the songs and does not play any of them, I can change my settings and look through the playlists but when I try and play one it will start acting up. Can anyone help?
1st Gen. 2 GB Ipod Nano   Windows XP

I believe I have remedied the situation. I took my ipod to another computer, and downloaded itunes and restored my ipod from there. And that seems to have fixed the issue. Course now I have none of my apps and only the music that I did purchase, but hopefully when I sync it with my other pc it will bring all that back, without the song skipping problem.

  • Why will some M4A songs will not play on my iPhone 4s?  They play just fine in iTunes and on my iPod Nano.

I bought my first iPhone on Saturday. After syncing all of my iTunes music to my brand new iPhone 4s, I soon realised that a great deal of m4a files would just not play. If I did attempt to play one of these tracks, it would just skip to the next one.
What really perplexes me is that all of my iTunes music plays without a problem in iTunes.  On top of this, ALL of my music plays on my iPod Nano.  Why is this just happening on my iPhone 4s?
Is this something to do with iOS 5?  Will an update fix it?
    Please can someone help!?!?

An exclamation mark means that it doesn't know where you moved the music to.  To fix this, click on the exclamation point and when it asks you to browse to the location where you moved it to, use the normal commands to go up and down folders in your external drive until you find the song.  Repeat as necessary.

  • Ipod Nano song's not playing.

the other day i downloaded the newest version of iTunes and put 130 songs into it, i then sync them to my ipon nano and to begin with all of the work, but the next day after listening to them all at least once its now only playing a selected few (about 15) and skipping the rest or playing funny noises...
someone help please, im at the point of frustration and i am about to throw it at a wall

If you do not find a solution in the iPod nano (6th generation) - User Guide, suggest that you call AppleCare if still under warranty or take a trip to your local Apple Store or AASP.

  • New nano - music is loaded, nano is charged, volume settings are all on but the music does not play thru the earphones?

New nano (7th generation) - music is loaded, nano is charged, volume setting are all on but the music does not play thru the earbuds,  Checked with a different pair with same results...I'm sure I must have something not turned on that should be but not sure - help!

    Hi deb253,
If you are having sound issues with your new iPod Nano, you may find the following article helpful (it is aimed at the 6th Gen, but the steps should be similar for the 7th):

  • Bought a ipod nano 6th and is not playing for more than 2 min?

bought a ipod nano 6th and is not playing for more than 2 min?

The most likely problem is that the headset is not inserted fully. When you insert the headset, you should feel and hear a "Click" to let you know it is inserted all the way.
The problem is that if it is not inserted all the way, the nano does not detect it. If it is not detected, it will pause playback when the screen goes dark. This is to keep your battery from draining when there is nothing connected to listen to the music.

  • Zen Stone will not play .WMAs

? Hi all- my Zen Stone recently stopped playing wma file- in fact, it will not play anything other than an mp3. When I try, I simply get the red-flashing error signal. I've tried resetting it, searching for updates, etc., but with no results. If this issue has been addressed elsewhere, I apologize, but I did several searches, and came up with dozens of posts concerning wma file sizes, quality, etc. but not this question in particular.
(I also tried the "wma vs. mp3" link in the FAQs, but it only led me to this error message: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: message_die() in /data/v-clients/nomad/db/db.php on line 88)
Any fix advice would be greatly appreciated- until this issue popped up, my Stone has been by far my favourite (and easiest to operate) player to date (well, at least since my old yellow Sony Sports Walkman!)? Cheers!

What app did you use to rip the CDs? If it was windows media player check the setting to be sure that the protect files is UNCECKED.

  • I-pod nano (2nd generation), Music will not play. HELP

When I go under music and then click songs, my songs list comes up. When a click on a song the artist and title come up but the song does not play. The screen shows the time of the song but nothing plays. I am on vacation and I do not have my music saved where I am at. Is there anyway to fix this without resetting everything and losing my music. Thank you

that's kinda a had question... but here goes!
my thought is that either the files aren't encoded correctly to be played on the iPod nano, or the power from the iPod isn't reaching the earbuds.
The first thing, have you tried a different set of earbuds? it may be an issue of the headphones.
Second, if that doesn't work, when you get back, check your computer to make sure the songs you want are one of the following: AAC (M4A, M4B, M4P, up to 320 Kbps), Apple Lossless (a high-quality compressed format), MP3 (up to 320 Kbps), MP3 Variable Bit Rate (VBR), WAV, AA (audible.com spoken word, formats 2, 3, and 4) and AIFF files.
This could be the problem. Check the Info menu of different songs in iTunes to find out the coding of the song.
If all fails, take the iPod to an Apple Store, there may be an underlying problem with the nano.
    good luck!
