Wma to iTunes

I downloaded some wma files from Limewire recently and noticed that unlike my mp3 downloads which automatically appear in the iTunes library, these did not. in fact I couldn't even import them after I changed the suffex to mp3. I did this by draging the file onto the desktop highliting it and renaming the wma to mp3. I can't even click and drag the file into iTunes. Any ideas out there?

Ok, I found you another program, I used this over the weekend and it worked great. I was able to convert several albums from wma to mp3! Switch Download. You're also going to need a quicktime plug in to run it, it'll ask you if you have it durring installation or when you try to use it, just say you don't have it and it'll pull up the website to get it from.

  • Can't Import mp3s and wmas to itunes

hi,my problem is that there are some mp3 and wma songs i have on my mac but when i try to put them on my library or basically try to listen to them on itunes nothing happens.i drag and drop them into library or manually import them but itunes just doesn't respond i even tried to manually open the directory music>itunes>itunes music>automatically add to itunes and dragged these mp3s into it but it just keeps ignoring them and throws them into a directory called 'not added'.can anyone help me?

iTunes for Mac (unlike iTunes for Windows) cannot convert WMA files. You will need to use another Mac program, such as EasyWMA, to convert them into an iTunes compatible format.

  • Help converting .wma to iTunes on a Mac.

I need help in converting thousands of .wma tracks to iTunes on my new MacBook Pro. Can anyone help me with this problem. I have a desktop at home which is IBM and my laptop is now Mac.

iTunes for Windows can import WMA files, but the Mac version of iTunes does not have that feature. If you can get the files onto your PC, just add them to iTunes (using Add Folder to Library or drag them in), and iTunes will import them automatically and save the new files to your Music folder. Do you have an iPod or other external hard disk you can use? That makes this process much easier.

I'm trying to add some old downloaded music to my itunes. It's in WMA format and said it needed to convert it. Then it said it was protected WMA. Any advice?

can WMP burn the files to an audio CD? if so, you should be able to reimport the songs from that.

  • How to convert wma in iTunes for MAC to mp3

The iTunes support manual mysteriously indicates that iTunes for MAC can convert WMA files to other formats, but doesn't tell me how! How do I convert the WMA files to mp3? When I google, I keep getting links to other sites and I'm not sure how to pick a trusted site.
    iTunes 11 for Mac: WMA
Windows Media Audio; a digital audio file format created by Microsoft. iTunes can convert WMA files to other formats.

Peabody, for me, Adapter is the ticket, and a free one at that. Quick, easy to use, nice interface and very flexible in terms of formats, destinations, etc. Also converts video. Been using it for a month and love it.

  • Each time i try to import an album, or convert wma files itunes slows down and eventually stops importing. Does anyone know why this is?

I have been trying to import albums onto my itunes, it uploads the first few songs quickly then gradually gets slower and slower. I have also been trying to convert wma music files that already exist in my music folder and the same thing happens. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have googled it and followed advice but nothing seems to work!

  • Do I need a program to convert wma to itunes (aac?)-or can iTunes do it?

I have a lot of music that doesn't even show in the music folder of my iTunes library, and the program wont let me import them to convert within iTunes. do I need an independent program, or is there a trick to bring them into iTunes, and then convert? So far, under either 'import' or 'add to library', if its wma, iTunes just ignores the attempt to get the songs into the program.....
    Thanks,

    go to http://crunchgear.com/2007/06/20/musicgiants-wma-lossless-music-drm-free/
and read about WMA lossless format! (there is actually Super HD at 11,000 bitrate).
    it begins:
MusicGiants isn’t the most well-known online music download service out there, but they’ve been pumping out WMA Lossless files since 2005. Until a couple weeks ago, all of the super hi-res files were locked down with Windows Media DRM, but no more! Right now you can only get Paul McCartney’s Memory Almost Full DRM-free in truly bit-for-bit identical quality to a CD, but by this fall, MusicGiants will release lots more titles that you can pirate share at will. (The company hasn’t done an official press release yet, but MusicGiants CEO Scott Bahneman recently spilled the beans to Stereophile.)
It sure makes the iTunes Music Store’s 256Kbps AAC files look pretty wimpy, and it even trumps 7 Digital’s DRM-less 320Kbps MP3s. Will you hear the difference? If you have a super hi-fi audio rig at home then it’s a good bet you will. If you have an iPod, then no, because the iPod can’t hang with any WMA format.
That officially makes MusicGiants’ files the highest-resolution DRM-less downloads around. Which begs the question: When will Steve Jobs let us download Apple Lossless files on the iTMS? Another question: When will more portable players support WMA Lossless?

  • How can I change the format of my videos from WMA to itunes?

I have some videos that are in Windows Midia Player, and when I try to put it in Itunes it doesnt work, I read something that said it has to be in a mpg4 or something like that, my question was how to I change my videos into that format?
    Thank you

    Hi,
Go to google, and search for videora. Install this and convert your videos. Then, they should add to iTunes. If they are long videos (over an hour, so films and stuff like that) I suggest doing it over night. It will probably freeze up your PC until it's done. It does with mine, mine isn't that slow.

  • WMA Files imported in to Itunes?

I have several songs on my computer that are wma files that I want to import into Itunes...I read that I should be able to just drag them in and Itunes will do the work...when I look in explorer I can see them however when I open the Itunes library it is not showing them? What am I doing wrong? I know that I can burn them to a cd and import them that way ...it just seems a waste for 2 songs

Use the iTunes command File > Add File (or Folder) to Library:
-If they are in unprotected WMA format, iTunes will convert them (one by one) and add the converted copy to the library, leaving the original in place.
-If they are protected WMA files, iTunes cannot handle them. You will either need to re-rip from CD, or use WMP to burn them to audio CD.

  • ITunes WMA lossless and compilation albums

I'm fairly new to apple stuff, so I thought using iTunes would be a breeze after WMP11. But iTunes is not very good; it wants to convert all my WMAs, can't convert lossless WMAs and keeps splitting up compilation albums like NOW 66. I only use iTunes to get music on to my daughters’ new 3 gen iPod Nano. I did think about getting the hudge capacity classic but I think not as iTunes has severely let me down. I only wish WMP11 could talk directly to the iPod!!

iTunes doesn't like WMA files, so it will try to convert them to AAC or MP3. The latter is best as you can still use them on WMA or iTunes.
As for compilations, if you highlight all of the Now66 tracks, right click and select "get info", you'll see down in the bottomleft a box saying "Compilations" - toggle that to yes and it'll show them all together.
    Hope this helps

  • Can I turn .wma files into mp3 (or something I can use in itunes)?

iTunes for Mac can't handle WMA files, iTunes for winsloth can.
if you have access to a PC, use iTunes there to convert the files. alternatively, you can get EasyWMA and use that app.
the files need to be unprotected in both cases.

  • A friend mailed me a flash drive with music on it from his pc...  mostly wma files.  How can I add these to my itunes library?

My friend created a BIG music file on his pc then saved it to a flash drive.  It is mostly wma files..  how can I add this to itunes library?

Install Flip4Mac's WM Components (from their download page), required to play WMA in QuickTime, the Finder's preview column, and many other applications -- but not iTunes!
Open your WMA file in QuickTime Player (Pro version required), then save as reference movie.
Drag the newly created .mov file onto iTunes. Now you can play it as you would any other song.
Some metadata is copied to the QuickTime file, and you can edit/add tags in iTunes. Remember to keep the original WMA files in place, as your reference .mov files still point to them. If you don't mind one more conversion step, you can then liberate your WMAs within iTunes. Select your WMA songs in iTunes, go to the Advanced Menu, click Convert selection to MP3/AAC, then enjoy your music on the iPod.

  • Can I import (MUSIC.wma) in my iTunes Library, for my iPod?

Can I import (MUSIC.wma) into iTunes for an iPod Touch? I know somethinig about formating that may just ignore the import, see my grandmother had got an iPod, and she not only want's her CD's on it, she just wan'ts to know if she can play her windows music collection, with the extention .wma  into iTunes . . . if any of you all know if it's possible without having to use any particular third party application please feel free to answer . .

I think so.  iTunes' help says that iTunes can convert WMA files to other formats. The iPod supports:
Audio formats supported: AAC (8 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), HE-AAC, MP3 (8 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, 4, Audible Enhanced Audio, AAX, and AAX+), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV
