Wmode 'transparent' in Firefox 3

I don't know if you have come across this problem.
Site Here
Just upgraded to FF3 and WAM Transparency is not displaying
correctly. I can only assume this is a browser issue.
Fine in IE
Any ideas.

  • Bug wmode=transparent in Firefox

    Hello!
    Starting from version 10.1.53.64, had such a problem:
    text data is displayed with a blue frame. Sample.
    The error occurs when the option is enabled wmode = transparent.
    Firefox 3.6.8 (without plugins)
    Windows XP

    I do not know what causes an error.
    It is noticed that the videos, if you turn this option would be a mistake on my computer.
    I tried to reproduce the problem on another computer. It works without errors.

  • Keyboard problem with wmode transparent and firefox

    Hello,
    I came accross a very nasty bug in this configuration:
    FireFox+Windows+[Flex area using the wmode=transparent]
    If the flex area has a text input, then the keyboard mapping
    is stuck with a wrong keyboard mapping and some characters can
    simply not be entered. For instance, on a French keyboard, it is
    not possible to enter a @ character.
    This bug seems very old, here is a reduced situation dated
    from 2005 (!):
    <
    http://www.5etdemi.com/blog/archives/2005/06/firefox-wmodetransparent-is-completely-screwy -and-breaks-textfields/>
    Many other people talked about the problem since, for
    instance here:
    <
    http://blog.headlondon.com/archives/no-wmode-please-were-british/>
    My questions are:
    * does anyone know of a work-around for this (and yes we _do_
    need the transparent feature :-)
    * why has this nasty bug not being fixed since 2005 ? I
    posted a bug report today but it must have been done before.
    I do not know if this is a bug with Firefox or the Flash
    player but in all cases many Flex apps can be affected by this bug
    if they use the transparent feature.
    thanks in advance for the feedback,
    Matthieu.

  • WMode Transparent not displaying in Windows/Firefox

    Hello, I'm using Wordpress and a Wordpress flash plugin
    called Showtime Slideshow as the site's gallery. It works
    perfectly in the standard wmode=window setting in
    Firefox/Windows, but I have a dropdown menu that
    overlaps with the Flash. I was able to figure out the wmode
    needs to be opaque or transparent, but when I use those
    settings, nothing is displayed at all. It works fine in
    Windows/IE, Mac/IE and Mac/Firefox, so there is something
    in the code that Windows/Firefox doesn't like in this code
    (another Flash object from YouTube with wmode=transparent
    displays correctly).
    Here is the code that the plugin generates:
    <!-- generated by showtime WP plugin -->
    <script type='text/javascript'>
    var flashvars = {
    xml                : 'http://www.youtag.lu/youtagdesign/wp-content/plugins/showtime-slideshow/showtime/getxml.php?attr=id^433*source^medium*sourcehd^large*',
    width                : '674',
    height                : '448',
    classid           : 'st_0',
    rotationtime     : '5',
    transition          : 'SlideRight',
    transitiontime     : '1.5',
    transitionease     : 'BackEaseOut',
    autoplay          : '',
    showcontrols     : 'on',
    fullscreen          : 'on',
    showtext          : '',
    showalt               : 'on',
    shuffle               : '',
    scale               : 'noScale'
    var params = {};
    params.allowFullScreen = 'true';
    params.bgcolor = '#EDEAE6';
    params.quality = 'autohigh';
    params.wmode = 'transparent';
    //params.base = 'dirname(__FILE__)';
    //params.allowScriptAccess = 'local';
    var attributes = {};
    attributes.styleclass = 'showtime';
    swfobject.embedSWF ('http://www.youtag.lu/youtagdesign/wp-content/plugins/showtime-slideshow/showtime/st15.swf', 'st_0', '674', '448', '10.0.0', 'http://www.youtag.lu/youtagdesign/wp-content/plugins/showtime-slideshow/showtime/swfobject/expressInstall.swf', flashvars, params, attributes);
    </script>
    [taken from the Showtime Slideshow demo page]
    Based on that code, can anyone see anything that
    would cause the whole slideshow to not display at all?

    Bump. Could anyone take a look at the code?

  • Firefox suddenly misinterpreting wmode transparent. Instead, displaying my content against a white background, instead of transparent. HELP.

    Please help fix my flash issue!!!!! The menu has always worked perfectly for several years. It suddenly stopped working yesterday.

    Paste this code in the Scratchpad and issue Execute Run to see the change.<br />
    I don't know which script is responsible, but I see the problem in Firefox 3.6.26 as well.
    <pre><nowiki>E=document.getElementsByTagName("embed")[1];
    alert(E.getAttribute("src")+"\n"+E.getAttribute("wmode"));
    document.getElementsByTagName("embed")[1].setAttribute("style","display:none");
    document.getElementsByTagName("embed")[1].setAttribute("wmode","transparent");
    alert(E.getAttribute("src")+"\n"+E.getAttribute("wmode"));
    document.getElementsByTagName("embed")[1].setAttribute("style","display:inline");</nowiki></pre>

  • Flash with wmode="transparent" doesn't work with non-US keyboard (like FF)

    Safari has the same issue as FireFox (which they are finally fixing) :
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347185
    If you use Flash with wmode="transparent" then it treats all keyboards as if they are US keyboards.
    For example try G.ho.st http://G.ho.st/vc.html with a non-US keyboard

    I too am having issues. I am using Shockwave Flash 11.4.402.287 on Firefox 16.0.1. I am running on Windows 7 Enterprise. Disabling the plugin allows me to load pages quickly, but I am not able to view videos or play games. Firefox freezes upon loading a page that uses Flash. It remains frozen for an unacceptable length of time, then it will unfreeze on its own accord. The freeze affects the entire computer. I cannot interact with the desktop or the Windows start bar, and can only close Firefox by forcibly ending the "firefox.exe" process via Task Manager.
    This is not the first version of Firefox that has displayed this problem to me. Firefox 15 also froze upon using Flash.
    I had hoped that the latest Firefox update would solve this problem, but apparently not. Until then, I am forced to use Chrome, which is quite inconvenient for me as I am not at all familiar with that browser and am constantly clicking the settings button when I want to to go to my home page.
    These freezes are incredibly frustrating and annoying. If Mozilla wishes to build a better Internet, they should try to make their browser a program that doesn't tempt me towards rage-quitting YouTube.

  • BlendMode.LAYER & wmode=transparent & ff bug

    Hello, I'm having problems with the latest flash player 10.
    Everything worked before upgrading, but since then I'm not able to
    get BlendMode.LAYER and wmode=transparent working in firefox (2 nor
    3).
    I have described my problem and I have sample files here:
    http://arkkimaagi.googlepages.com/home
    Basicly if I use blendMode=BlendMode.LAYER; in flash that has
    transparent background in firefox, I get these ugly borders around
    all objects that have the blendMode set to Layer.
    Any suggestions what I could do to get around this problem?
    Edit:
    I've also added this to adobe bugs. Please vote for it to get
    attention to this issue.
    https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-970

    I've replicated this in Win, FF3, FP10, with wMode as
    transparent.
    If blendMode = BlendMode.NORMAL, I do not see this error.
    Setting blendMode to any other available property reproduces this
    error.

  • Flash transparency in Firefox?

    I have a flash navigation menu and a flash app right underneath it, but the transparency modes are not working in firefox.  They work fine in IE though.  You can get a better understanding of what I mean by viewing the page.  You'll notice that in FireFox, you can't use the top 1/4 or so of the game, but in IE you can.  Anyone know why exactly?  Thanks!
    Jesse

    Ok, you'll notice that if you view the page in firefox, you cannot interact with the game until about halfway down the game's stage, but you can in IE.  You'll notice the animating speaker that you can click on in order to stop the music, but it's inaccessible in firefox, but accessible in IE.  The reason for this is because the navigation is actually 275px tall (because it has dropdowns), but I have it's wmode set to transparent.  The navigation is sitting inside of a div that is positioned absolute and has a z-index of 1 so the game is not pushed all the way down to its actual bottom (y of 275px), but rather sits right underneath it.
    The problem is that even though I have the navigation's z-index set to 1 and it's wmode set to transparent, the game sits directly underneath it, but is not "interactable" until you get the cursor past the height of the navigation (275px).  See what I'm saying?  So essentially this is what you're looking at for the page code:

  • How to use wmode="transparent" on Quicktime

    Hi!
    I use tag <embed> with wmode="transparent" inside the <embed> tag to make the vdo file (.mp4 , .mov) to be transparent display behind other div on Firefox, but it doesn't work and quick time play and vdo disappear.
    I have check Apple QuickTime Tutorials Embed Tag Attributes but nothing seem similar to wmode="transparent"
    Please guide me to the right direction.

    Can't be done.
    The embed tag code has been updated to a more modern javascript method:

  • Wmode transparent not working

    I'm testing two methods to avoid the flash animation from

    fo.addParam("wmode", "opaque");
    fo.write("mainflash");

    </div>
    But none of them seem to work on firefox 2 when using a mac,
    can anyone give me a definitive solution for this?

    For the first method you need to add the attribute
    *wmode="transparent"*
    to the embed tag.
    For the second method (for which you must be using v1.5 of
    SWFObject)
    you need to change your fo.addParam("wmode", "opaque"); from
    *opaque* to
    *transparent*.

  • Flash wmode="transparent" not working in IE

    For the life of me, I can't figure out how to make my swf transparent in IE. I've tested in Firefox, Opera, Safari, and Chrome on Windows 7 and it works fine, but in IE it is showing a black opaque background. I've seen the same issue on Safari on the Mac.
    I now have 3 different variations of the code on the page, all 3 variations being transparent in Firefox, Opera, Safari, and Chrome on Windows 7, and all 3 variations NOT being transparent in Internet Explorer.
    For 'attempt 2', I'm using swfobject which in theory should generate the correct code.

    <div id="popup_later" style="background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%; position: absolute; top: 0pt; left: 0pt; width: 1423px; height: 1323px; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial; z-index: 102; opacity: 1;"><object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" id="myMovieName" width="180" height="62"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><param name="movie" value="myflash.swf"><param name="quality" value="high"><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF"><embed wmode="transparent" src="
    myflash.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" name="myMovieName" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" align="" width="180" height="62"></object></div>
    Thanks in advance

    I don't readily see an issue with yoru coding. Maybe there is a border style of "0" you need to add. You might want to try using SWFobject which simplifies adding paramters and Flash Vars to embedding a Flash SWF.

  • Wmode transparent not working on flash

    Here is my website:
    Website that has flash on it
    Instead of a blue background the flash should be transparent. Is there something else I need done?
    <script type="text/javascript">
    AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase','http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,28,0','width','900','height','247','src','main','quality','high','pluginspage','http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash','movie','main' ); //end AC code
    </script><noscript><object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,28,0" width="900" height="247">
              <param name="movie" value="main.swf" />
              <param name="quality" value="high" />
              <param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
              <embed src="main.swf" width="467" height="371" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent"></embed>
            </object>
      </noscript>

    It renders fine in IE and Firefox (latest versions of both) XP and Vista/7 OS's.
    However in the last several minutes as i was writing a different answer, your content changed. Prior to current swf, there was however a blue box appearing in both browsers, and I noticed a discrepancy in your swf width and height attributes you posted.
    Is there some specific reason you are using AC_FL_runcontent.js? Should not be needed for a simple slideshow.
    So are you good to go?

  • Google Voice Widget Not Working in Safari 5.1 which is Adobe flash wmode transparent based

    Google Voice Widget Not Working in Safari 5.1 which is Adobe flash with wmode transparent set. For that matter all flash text fields in Safari 5.1 are not working accross the web when wmode is set to transparent. This is a Safari bug! Other browsers work fine.
    Well after much research Adobe flash text field with wmode transparent set is not working in Safari 5.1 when any flash object has the wmode set to "transparent", or "opaque". The problem is many site must layer flash objects with html so the wmode transparent must be used.
    Affecting sites like BEST BUY, WALMART, CVS, STAPLES, Chechout their flash based weekly ads and find one that you need to update the quantity in the flash pop-up and the text field with keyboard strokes will not work. Flash text fields were all working fine until several month ago when Safari rolled out 5.1 working for Google Voice Flash based widget which uses the wmode transparent. HELP!

    All 3 examples seem to render just fine in IE and FF.

    If not working for you, try clearing your cache to remove any old, non working versions.
    Test on some other machine besides yours.
    Code looks fine and seems to work.
