WMP 11 and the Zen Detection Probl

After rolling back from WMP to 0, my Zen Micro is detected again and all of Creative's software detects and works properly with my player. Just thought I would bring this to the attention of Creative and those out there experiencing detection problems...Microsoft/Creative need to develop a fix for this or at least make this known to their customers. Perhaps this info should be added to one of the stickys or guides for troubleshooting detection problems (as the registry fix did not do anything for me).Message Edited by sundevil on 02-8-20070:4 PM

i use my zen with wmp. there's a microsoft knowledge base thing that says you have to uninstall wmp, reinstall creative, then install wmp. sorry, at work, can't link to it. but i stopped using it because of the stupid drm junk.:angry:Message Edited by linberl on 03-08-20072:39 PM

Does MediaSource and the zen xtra support secure WMA fil

I bought a CD that uses some encryption utilities from a company called sunncomm (real blockheads @ that company, from the tech support to the VP by the way) It would seem that I'm able to download the "digital keys" from their web site however I get the message "license required" when I try to copy the songs to my zen extra using mediasource.
Anyone ever had experience with this?
....and for the record I would not recommend buying any CD's that are using this company's (sunncomm)system, or anything from RCA records. In their effort to thwart illegal distribution the two have decided to punish those of us who legally purchase their products and simply want to listen to it in our preferred format and on our preferred players. I really don't listen to anything on CD anymore, as my CD's just get loaded onto my player, in fact I'd taken the CD player out of my car all together and the zen is the only thing that gets played there. Without the ability to transfer the songs from CD to my player what I wind up with is a fifteen dollar coaster

The CD is Contraband from Velvet Revolver. It's released on the RCA label under BMG music. The name of the company that delevloped and runs the protection software is SunnComm. I'm working on a list of other titles and artists that have this installed on their releases well. CL product users may find that useful as a list of titles to avoid.
The thing that is really bothersome is that nowhere on the CD did it indicate this protection was there when I bought it. Only when I popped it into my PC did it become evident. This as it turns out would have been a bit different if I owned an ipod, as since ipod has it's issues with WMA files to begin with they don't even pretend to support anything related to ipod. While that's a move that I'm sure CL thinks is just fine, it's seems like a bit of a bonehead move for the record company. What really irks me about sunn comm it they are quite frankly lying about what their product does, it does NOT allow someone who has legally bought a music release to listen to that release on a digital player like they it does ... which as a consumer is a right I expect to have when I purchase music in any format. I've spoke with several people at sunn comm and they are of no help and obviously do not care about any issues a consumer has with their product. I'm also in contact with RCA and BMG about this mistake they are making in not properly informing consumers about what their product actually is. I'm not a music pirate, I bought their release intending it only for my own personal use, but they have turned the simple act of buying music in to a week long Odyssey and headache. No one at Sunn Comm or BMG seems to understand that which does not bode well for for either company or industry.

Notmad Explorer and the Zen X

Has anyone been able to get Notmad Explorer to work with the Zen X-Fi? It appears that it is looking for Version 2.x? of the Plays For Sure Firmware when I connect my X-Fi 6 GB?and will not recognize my player. The X-Fi does work with Rhapsody, so I know it is Plays For Sure compatible, and I recently downloaded and installed the latest version of the firmware (still v. .x), but I imagine since Notmad is looking for a Version 2.x, the program won't work.
I also sent two e-mails to Red Chair Software, asking them about this issue, and have yet to receive a response (it's been over one month). It doesn't look like they are releasing a new version. Has anyone had any luck with this?

'Creative Mediasource Organizer' Folders and the ZEN V pla

Using the Creative Mediasource Organizer, I've set up a few Folders on the 'Creative Zen V' player but when I undock the player and use it to find and play the songs, they're not organized by the Folders. In fact, I don't the folder 'structure' at all. Is there a way I can see and use my folder structure I've set up for the player? and, if not, then why does the Organizer enable me to set up folders?Thanks.

Folders on the device are merely for your own convenience and organization. The device relies solely on ID TAGS on how it plays and displays the various tracks. You will need to get your tracks in order and edit the tags.

We are all just fellow users here and so cannot do anything to resolve your problem. You are not communicating with Apple when you post here.
The first thing you should do is to go into the Restrictions area of the General settings, turn off "In-App Purchases" and perhaps "iTunes", "Installing Apps" and "Deleting Apps". Then if your daughter plays with your iPhone, she can't purchase anything without your authorization.
As to the existing purchases, since these were legitimate purchases as far as the iTunes Store is concerned, there may be nothing that can be done (the iTunes Store terms of sale state that all sales are final) but you can ask. Go here:

and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.

Some imperfections of the ZEN and its armb

Hi,
I like listening to music while I do sport, but with the Zen is almost impossible!
I bought the armbend?but?U have NO access to any functions (volume, track, preset radio station). coz'To swhitch off the screen?light U must put ther keys lock, otherwise in a couple of hours the battery is flat.
I do think that the armbend and the zen are not suitable for sport activities and they should write that on the specifications.
Also for a normal use if U lock the keys each time U want to change anything U have to unlock first.
It would have been so easy?have the screen off with a timer (5 seconds or more), also a children would have thought that.
another fault, I think , is that when U cancel a preset station, after with the key arrows the player doesn't skip them!
so U will listen lots of " nothing or noise"
and the radio sensibility is not selectble, it'swould be better.
What do U think about my thoughts?

Just to verify, have you run the ThinkVantage System Update program to update any drivers and ThinkPad-specific software on the X120e? Manufacturers do not always update the software images they load onto a computer, so some updates are usually necesary to get the latest software installed.

Big Zen Touch Probl

I recieved my Zen Touch yesterday, charged it etc. I also tested the classical tracks. Then went about transferring files from my Nomad Zen NX to the Touch. I got through around half in the time I had, then disconnected and turned off the players. Today though I plugged both in and neither responded, so i unplugged them and redid it. Then I started transferring the remaining files, but they woukd not write onto the Touch. I then looked at the touch and the screen was blank, only the blue backlight. So i reset the player, the Creative screen was displayed and the Zen one but the background was very dark, after though the screen was again blank although you could here the clicking of the touch pad. I then tried to turn it off, but it wasn't responsi've so didn't work. I went into the Recovery mode and this screen was displayed so I turned it off. I then tried again to boot it up but the problem remained. So i went into recovery mode and have tried all the options but none seem to work as the screen goes blank. I have reinstalled the firmware, and after doing so went to MediaSource (Touch was empty as I had Formatted the player before) and put an album on so the transfer of file works and the PC recognises the player. The problem remains though of a blank screen and the inablity to do anything at this point. The only way to turn off is via Recovery Mode.
Any help would be very grateful, as my patience is wearing thin and soon the Zen Touch may be falling 5' from the window to the floor!!

If the Rescue Mode functions aren't working then unfortunately the player is faulty. You either need to return it where you bought it for a replacement, or contact Creative Support.

What cause the ZEN Touch 2 to freeze?

I've (finally) received my ZEN Touch 2 with GPS two days ago, and it truly is a fantastic MP3 Player. But guess what? Today, for the first time, it really did froze, using the N64oid emulator. When the ZEN is lagging, I'm simply waiting, and it work like a charm a few seconds later. But now, it was completely frozen. Touch Screen, Power button... Tried connecting to computer, no reaction.
So in a bad mood, I tried reseting the unit, which I'm obviously not suposed to do often, I had a hard time. First, the reset hole is way too tiny!? Even with a paper clip or a pencil mine, this is ridiculously hard!? First, I even used the wrong hole, I though this was the reset hole, so yeah, the paper clip got inside the ZEN... Truly awesome. After all, I managed to remove it.
And then, seemed like I got it, ZEN resetted, when I thought it was completely screwed, only two days after I received it!
It seems to work correctly, now. Needless to saw I deleted the data, application and ROMs of N64oid, the right way (Along with PSXoid, which I haven't tested, but is probably similar.). When I first tried Super Mario 64, it was playable, at an OK speed. But today, I tried others ROMs, like Donkey Kong 64, or Tony Hawks Pro Skater, without a doubt, that was asking too much from the ZEN, since I couldn't pass the main menu.
So now I really hope my ZEN will last,?Creative. I'm in Quebec, got it from California. Needed to ship it to Plattsburgh by Amazon.com, and to be fowarded to my house, since you unfortunately do not ship to Canada.
I still have a one year warrantee, but undestand me, I?absolutely wouldn't want to ship it to Creative?in?the US, then get it shipped back to Plattsburgh, and then to my home. That'll cost me hell (Again)!
Alright,?I'll?now like to know what cause the ZEN Touch 2 to freeze? In my case, that was the emulator that was too advanced for the ZEN (And since it doesn't support multi-touch, it's hardly playable without a USB keyboard or gamepad (Possible?), or Wiimote). ?I don't have applications running?in the backgroung, only one at a time.
How can I avoid my ZEN to freeze again?
Oh yes, one more question. Why when I start some applications, it instantly shut ("The application [...] (process com [...] has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.") ? How can I fix this?

I unistalled many 3rd Party APPs (Only /3 were booting, anyways), and I can already see a huge difference with the fluidity of the menu. It's also turning on faster.
I already uninstalled N64oid, but kept the others 2D emulators, never had a problem with them, they run without lagging.
What's odd, however, I downloaded Firefox from ZiiO Space, ran it, and the ZEN went pretty much crazy; black screen, I tried to get back to the menu, pressing buttons and all that, and then the ZEN vibrated like hell, perhaps because I pressed the buttons a lot of time. I finally made it, without resetting, but that was freaking scary. Oo
Uninstalled Firefox. I find it strange that I downloaded it from ZiiO Space, and that it doesn't work like normal.
I'll try to be more careful while downloading APPs, if I can.

If i only want a 1gb mp3 player, isn't it better to get the u10 over the zen v pl

all i really need is gb mp3 player that can watch some video clips, wouldn't i get the same audio quality and such for a cheaper price if i go for the u0? i mean what does the zen v plus gb have over the gb u0? and cnet gives both of them the same rating (8.3)

well, neither one will work if you want to watch video. The only mp3 players that creative have that can watch video are the Zen Vision and the Zen Vision M. And both of those come in much larger sizes that you want (both have 30gb hd's). I recomend getting a Zen Vision, because it is much easier to get videos on mp3 players when you have plent of space (don't have to move around files to get it all fit in exactly gb.)
But if you don't want video, I say go with the Zen V because it is a new mp3 player, tiney, has great sound and screen quality, and is just overall sweet.
And if you insist having only gb, then go with the u0, because creative doen't have any video players with such small hard dri'ves. Buy you really should look at Creatives Vision series

I have a friend who is looking for a 5GB player, and he's trying to decide between the Dell Pocket DJ and the Zen Micro. I have recommended the Micro to him, but I'd like to know, does it have EAX?
Also, if anyone knows, is there gonna be a 0GB version anytime soon?

I take it that the zen Vplus will not work on Win 2k ? Does it only work on Win XP or higher ?
Is their any known working software for this thing that will work on Win 2K or do I need to upgrade my op sys ?
I tried downloading some Win 2k software for my ZEN Vplus from the creative web site but unfortunately when trying to install it it gives an error message that a file is missing but in typical useless Windows fashion it does not indicate what the missing file is.
Anyone have any ideas before I take this thing out to the skeet shooting range and get an I-pod as a replacement ?

Sorry to hear that it is also flaky with windows XP, now I won't waste my money to upgrade to XP.
I know it's a Windows problem more than a creative one, you just gotta love any software that has to interface with anything by Microsoft and feel sorry for the 3rd party programmers at the same time.
I download the creative media center for Win 2K (CMSS)and the ZEN V+ along with Win 2k service pack 4, Microsoft DirectX? 9.0 basically all the required files that CMSS list and it still will not install correctly.
I just wish there was a way for the Creative installer to tell me what the other missing file is.

Zen Sleek Photo and Nomad Zen X

I posted earlier about problems with Vista and the Zen Sleek Photo mp3 player. The Zen software is not compatible and won?t install.
After receiving some information from Creative, and after some further experimenting on my own, I have put together a procedure that will, in fact, do a full install of the Zen Sleek Photo on a machine running Vista.
I have also discovered that this installation procedure also works for my Nomad Zen Xtra ? a nice bonus!

I also own a Zen Sleek photo, and while I haven't had any of the problems you have mentioned with Napster; one problem you should watch for (currently experiencing it for the 2nd time!) is trying to play your music from Napster and not being able to because you get a message saying that "No license to play this track". And it's a huge problem, as it doesn't just affect one song, but your ENTIRE library. I fixed it once and am trying to find out how to do it again. Once I do, I'll probably leave Napster, but I will probably have to download ALL my music again.

How can i ensure that the harddisk3 designation is relatd with USB etxernal disk?
I have several erros in LOGs:

My disk structure is:
2 RAID5 arrays fomr the same disks (80GB and 2 TB)

I´m 99% sure that the error is related to the external USB disk and the Dell DIag tool shows no problems with any component
