WMP Autoplaylists with multiple Zen Mic

I have my own Zen Micro and used the Autoplaylist WMP plugin to create playlists for 70's, 80's, etc. which I transferred to my Micro. All the songs in WMP's My Library exist on my player. In other words, WMP's My Library is identical to my own Zen's content and all the playlists that exist in WMP have also been transferred to the Zen.
I recently bought a new 6GB Zen Micro for my sister-in-law and transferred about 30% of my music to her player to give her something to be going on with. As it stands, the tracks are all there but of course, there are no playlists. Note that the content on her player is only a subset of my PC's content.
If I drag any of my own Autoplaylists on to the Sync List for her Zen, it appears to transfer the content, instead of just the playlist criteria. Gi'ven that not all the tracks in my 70's playlist (for example) exist on her player, I have not proceeded with the sync.
Is there any way to create Autoplaylists on a second Zen Micro, such that there would be different 70's playlists for each Micro, or are the Autoplaylists specific to WMP rather than connected players?Message Edited by Shiskine on 0-02-2006 05:00 PM

  • Music Match with my Zen Mic

I use MMJB Plus as my primary music player on my computer. I like the way it organizes things and I LOVE the supertagging feature. When I plugged in my Zen Micro MMJB recognized it as a portable device and seemed to work fine to transfer files to my new favourite toy. I haven't seen MMJB listed anywhere as one of the recommended programs, so I'm wondering if there are known problems?
Does anyone know of any reason I should NOT continue to use this program (I'm a creature of habit, and I'm used to MMJB).
    Thanks,

I believe MMJB has *just* been upgraded to work with the Zen Micro, so I need to add this to the FAQ at Nomadness.net. In the past it has had a lot of problems which is why I'd not added it to the FAQ.

  • I Need Help With My Zen Mic

I don't know what is wrong. I have a Creative Zen Micro 6 GB. I received it as a gift a couple Christmases back. One day I went to turn it on to listen to it and it said that it was on Recovery Mode. Then it had a list that looked something like this.
    Creative Zen Micro v0.0.65
    1. Clean Up
    2. Format All
    3. Reload Firmware
    4. Reboot
That was about fi've or six months ago, and I still haven't been able to fix it. I went to reboot it, and it just went back to the same screen. I did the clean up, and I know I deleted all my songs and stuff because I hit the Format All. I went to Circuit City to see if they could help and they said to go to the website and download the firmware, but when I did, it said there were no firmware updates.
If anyway could help I would be really greatfull. I would hate to have to buy a stupid iPod.
    -Ariel

It's either the v.0 firmware, or v2.0 firmware. Mine's running 2.0, and the recovery menu says v0.0.65. I don't know if the v.0 will show something different.
You should be running Windows XP, and preferably have Windows Media Player 0. People have reported problems with WMP. Some have reported problems when running Service Pack 2. To check your service packs, go to Start > Run > winver It will say "Windows XP 5.._________ (Service Pack __)"
If you're running v firmware (Requires Creative MediaCenter), ensure that MediaCenter (or whatever it's called) is installed properly.
If you're running v2 firmware, having that software installed can sometimes mess things up.
If you have access to a second computer, I'd strongly recommend that. Try this: Start up your Zen, keep the backlight ali've, and watch very carefully. Does it say "Firmware Problem" for a split second before cutting to the recovery menu? Turn it off and back on, but hold the back of the player against your ear, or someone with good hearing. Do you hear the microdri've spin up?

  • *URGENT* Problem with my Zen Mic

Okay so I tried updating the firmware to 2.0, no problem. I did that at my sister's house and when I tried to plug in my Zen into my computer to upload songs again, Windows didn't recognize it. So I repeatedly installed/uninstalled the drivers (downloading the driver and using the cd-rom) but it still wouldn't recognize my Zen. So I put it in rescue mode to reload the firmware and now whenever I turn it on, it says firmware problem. Sorry if this has already been answered by I searched through the forums and didn't find anything. So how do I get out of rescue mode and then make my computer recognize my Zen?
I apolgize in advanced if this question has already been answered but I really did try using search and I couldn't find anything regarding my situation.
    Thanks a lot guys!

    Did you read this...
    Filename: ZenMicroMTP_PCFW_LB_2_0_05.exe
IMPORTANT: This is a beta version of this update. Before you decide whether to install beta firmware, it is important to understand that a beta release does not have the stability of released Creative firmware. Beta releases are meant for testing and validation, so you may encounter problems with a beta release that could possibly result in loss or corruption of data, necessitate a reformat of the device, or, in extremely rare cases, may render the device inoperable.
Be sure to back up all the audio and data files on your Zen Micro before installing this firmware update as all content will be lost when you install the new firmware. After installing PlaysForSure on your player, use Windows Media Player 0 to restore audio and/or data files to your player.
That's why I'm not upgrading it!

I run with my Zen Micro and it does not skip or have any other problems. I hold it in my hand so it is not subject to sharp shocks.

  • Create Characteristic with multiple units of measure

    Hello Friends,
I want to create characteristic (CT04) which has multiple units of measure.  At present  a  Characteristic is created with a single unit of Measure. I have to create characeristic and assign it in MIC. MIC specifications are customer dependent. Customer may give specifications in different unit of measure. While creating sales order, I am entering the specifications for characteristics, as material is created with varient.
I am creating Single Characteristic multiple times for different Unit of Measure and assigning it to the class.
Therefore according to the Customer requirment and his specifed Unit of Measure, that Characteristic is choosen having same UoM as of Customer.
Insead of doing this, Is it possible to assign multiple units of measure to single characteristic?
    Waitng for reply!
    Regards,
    Kiran

    Hi,
With Multiple Unit Of measures, I don't think its possible.
You can Use CHAR for characteristics, to Use.
Instead for Fixed Units. Let Marketing/sales Enter the req.
But you shall make it Multiple Selection, Since you can use them in Selection Condition.
    Hope this is Useful.

  • Working with multiple audio tracks

    Hello,
I'm working with video clips that have a stereo audio track (guide audio fed into the camera) synch'ed to 4 mono tracks (recorded from a variety of boom mics and lavaliers).
Although I've linked all the audio clips to the video, it still gets a bit cumbersome when performing T or L cuts. When I hold down the Option key, I still have to adjust each of the audio track separately.
Is there a more efficient way to deal with multiple audio tracks? Maybe some way to treat these audio tracks as one unit?
BTW I'm working in FCP 7.
    Thanks,
    Thien

    One way:
    Lock the video track.
Use the Edit Selection Tool to Select the audio transition points
This will automatically open the Trim window, where you can move the cut point - in this case I am moving the audio cut(s) 30 frames later than the video cut:
which gives me the displacement of all the tracks that I wanted:
You can use this quite quickly once you get used to it.

  • Playcount sync with WMP10- ZEN MI

    Hi,
OK, i use WMP0 and have firmware 2.20.05- since the upgrade I have been using the improved functions of WMP0 a lot to create auto-playlists, a number of which revolve around how recently I listed to the tracks (eg 4* rated not heard for a month.... etc)
Now the playlists don't automatically update on syncing with the Zen (songs will be added but NOT deleted from a playlist), which is OK, as long as you delete the playlist from the sync list & then add it again & re-sync- that is OK, i can li've with that....
But my question revolves around the Zen & WMP0 updating the playcouont- 90% of the time if i plug in the Zen to the computer it tells WMP0 what songs i have listened to, and playcount and last play date are updated..... but then other times it doesn't- I haven't worked out what i am doing differently, has anyone else?!
Annoying, for example if you listen to the Zen for a week to maybe 200 songs, but then all these tracks playcount don't get updated.... so they still come up on 'not heard for a while' playlists-any ideas?!
and if you don't use this function yet you should, most of the time the autoplaylists are great......!

OK, I'm going to reply to my own post as I now have the answer, and so next time someone else has the problem the answer is here!!
In almost all cases my Zen was updating the playcount and date of last play when sync'd with WMP0, but very occasionally it wouldn't- I have confirmed now that the only times it wouldn't is when the library had to be re-built between syncs with the computer. I guess thus all this info gets lost. For example if the dri've was cleaned, or a battery had been changed beofre the player was fully shut down. If this happened no playcount details would be updated even AFTER the re-build, so until the player was sync'd again no new info wuold be changed.
There was no problem with charging the battery or changing a battery PROVIDED the player was turned completly off at the time (should be the only way you change the battery anyway, I know, but soetimes you get slack,eh!)
So, now I have a lovely set-up, where every few days i plug my Zen into the computer and it downlaods all the info regarding the songs i have listened to back into the library, which then can update my autoplayists, so the next day i can pick to listen to 'top tunes not listened to in the last month' or 'songs from 980-982 listened to this week' (!) and it all works.... The great thing about the auto-playists is that there is so much info stored in the WMP0 librbay you can use to create playlists to then get sent to the Zen without that info actually needing to be stored on the zen.
So if you are not using this I highly recommend it as a fantastic improvement to managing & listening to music on the Micro. ;-)Message Edited by ian_f on -29-2005 :2 PM

  • WMP 11 and the Zen Detection Probl

After rolling back from WMP to 0, my Zen Micro is detected again and all of Creative's software detects and works properly with my player. Just thought I would bring this to the attention of Creative and those out there experiencing detection problems...Microsoft/Creative need to develop a fix for this or at least make this known to their customers. Perhaps this info should be added to one of the stickys or guides for troubleshooting detection problems (as the registry fix did not do anything for me).Message Edited by sundevil on 02-8-20070:4 PM

i use my zen with wmp. there's a microsoft knowledge base thing that says you have to uninstall wmp, reinstall creative, then install wmp. sorry, at work, can't link to it. but i stopped using it because of the stupid drm junk.:angry:Message Edited by linberl on 03-08-20072:39 PM

  • Can a MP3 library be shared by an iPod and a Zen Mic

About a year ago I started getting into digital music and have built up a MP3 collection to over 5,300 songs. These files are encoded to 92kbps MP3 using iTunes and are stored on their own hard dri've.
My question is... can these files be shared between Creative and Apple? Or, do I have to do as some of my searches indicated (specifically, manually manage songs via WMP 0 or MusicMatch or etc.)?
I have no protected files, and the only format I have songs in is MP3.

An update, and consider this thread closed for the most part:
After realizing the version of MediaSource that shipped with the Zen Micro I won in a contest at work was HEINOUSLY out of date, I upgraded to the latest rev of software, and updated the Zen Micro to the latest firmware.
Still no worky. On the first pass, tagged information was all screwed up (populated with the dreaded <Unknown>) on the import to MS, and when the tracks were opened again in iTunes, the data that was there would be deleted or corrupted.
So, after googling for a bit for a fix or at least a reason, I found that most people converted all ID3 tags in iTunes (or their MP3 library) to ID3 v2.3.
Presto! Beautiful track names, album titles, artists and genres on the re-import and tonight I should be able to start building playlists.
Moral of the story? Check your software versions before you panic.

  • A few Problems with my Zen Mi

Hi I have had my player for just over year now and a few problems have just come up. First off the power switch is getting harder and harder to use. I am having to push the power button pretty hard now and have to hold it for a little while. Also when connect my player into the computer and go into the creative mediasouce player and click to access my zen micro it says its not connected.
Can anyone help me with these problems.
Its a 5gb zen micro version .02.05 if that means anything

Regarding your connection problems, are you using WMP? It is known to cause connection problems with the Zens.
Have you tried reinstalling the Creative Software?
Have you tried the connection with another PC IF available?
And regarding the power button, I'm guess that it is due to aging? I still have my Zen Micro (even though I use my ZVM) and I do have to hold the power button a little bit longer than before (3-5 seconds more) for it to turn on. Same happens when I use the lock mode (I just tried it)
and it's kinda rough for it to push instantly (effortless but still feels a little rough).
Good luck with your connection, let us know if it worked!

  • How can a family with multiple existing accounts use Home Sharing?

I'd like to use the new Home Sharing feature, but it appears to be restricted to families in which all of the family members share a single user account.
We already have separate accounts for each family member. Is there some way for us to use Home Sharing without abandoning most of our existing accounts, along with all of the purchases made by those accounts? I don't think anyone in this situation would be willing to do that.

Eh. I am not too sure since I have not messed with it much but I do have a great deal of experience with multiple accounts. Each computer can be authorized for multiple accounts. As can iPods. iPods can sync songs/videos/apps from multiple accounts as long as the computer is authorized with them. What I have set up here, is I buy my stuff I want, my parents buy what they want and so do my brothers. When my bro gets something I want I just move it to my computer. That way all our accounts are separate, but if there is something I want I can get it. Also, since the music no longer has DRM, it won't matter. It will play on any computer. What you should see is if you can just do the shared library with multiple accounts. Then if you don't have videos or such, you can get apps or music. Hope this helps!
