WMP freezes when installing

Hi
I can download Windows Media Player and Stuffit expands it into 'Windows Media Installer' but then it always freezes when installing...gah...does anyone know anything about this?
[I've read the other topics where people can't get it to expand, but this is different...no error messages or anything]
Thanks!

Impossible to answer with information  provided.

  • Cannot install USB device, install wizard freezes when installing SiLib.sys

    Hello,
I have installed LabView and all the software required for running a program for tremor evaluation. When I plug a TremorScope via USB connection it starts Hardware Installation wizard, but the installation does not complete and system freezes when installing SiLib.sys. The OS is Windows XP.
Do you have any solution how to finish the installation or what is going wrong. Thank you for your help.

Why don't you ask the vendor of the device? It does not have anything to do with LabVIEW.

  • The "find my iphone" app freeze when instaling

The app freeze when installing and now i cannot delete it

"Losing your iPhone feels lousy. Thankfully, iCloud can help you get it back. But if it looks like that’s not going to happen, new Find My iPhone features in iOS 7 make it harder for anyone who’s not you to use or sell your device. Now turning off Find My iPhone or erasing your device requires your Apple ID and password. Find My iPhone can also continue to display a custom message, even after your device is erased. And your Apple ID and password are required before anyone can reactivate it."

  • IPhone freezing when installing or uninstalling application during sync

    hi,
I've been running to issues with iPhone freezing during install and uninstalling of Applications during iTunes sync. The installation or remove seems to complete after I force reboot iPhone, but sort of troublesome as I'm having to reboot iPhone for every app I try to install or remove. Also, when trying to install or remove application from iPhone's appstore, iPhone gets very unstable and the installation or remove of application never completes.
Is anyone running into this issue? Any workaround (maybe I need to use Mac instead of windows xp ... ?)

I think finally figured out the problem...
This was due to one of the application I had (purchased) installed called "Wisdom dictionary".
This has been taken off of iTunes already but apparently this application was causing other application to not install. The application is about 120 megs, and the company is currently investigating some memory issue related to expanding the installer. It appears to be Apple issue, they are in contact with Apple, but apparently there is no info from Apple when the issue would be addressed....
Anyway, without this application, my iPhone so far has been working pretty well.
It may be possible other large apps may have similar issues.... not sure.

You can attempt to reset the PRAM in the machine, but it looks as though there's a hardware problem. It's actually kind of difficult to determine if it's the graphics hardware or the mainboard, but neither are really servicable. You'll want to take it to get serviced.

  • ThinkVantage System Update 5.02 problem -- System Update hangs or freezes when installing KB updates

Often after installing a KB update, System Update will restart the computer and then resume processing to install the next downloaded KB update.  However, after restarting, it always freezes or hangs part way through the next KB install.  After waiting 5 or 10 minutes, I click on "cancel."   System Update acknowledges cancellation but nothing happens, and when I eventually give up and select "End task" in Windows Task Manager, I am informed that "This program is not responding."
Clearly this is a bug, perhaps arising from an license consent dialog box that fails to pop-up.  I have resorted to downloading and installing these KB updates one-by-one after a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on my T400 model 2764CTO.    Service Pack 1 is installed and Microsoft.NET Framework 3.51, which satisfies Lenovo's requirements.  I am running BIOS 3.11 and plan to update it, but would like to solve this problem first, as I would hate to experience a freeze during a BIOS update!
Anyone else having this problem, or any solutions?

DID you get the machine from someonelse, outside of  Lenovo? DID you upgrade the original o/s?
    what o/s?
    ==
KB are offered by microsoft, not Lenovo/su.  Under a rare condition, SU will offer as KB.  A known instance, where microsoft offers HOTFIX, but not for monthly update distribution.  Lenovo has their version of this KB. Probably this HOTFIX fixes a problem in Lenovo land driver that needs the hotfix.
I am amazed at how many KB fixes show up for your machine!!!
    ==
Clearly this is a bug, perhaps arising from an license consent dialog box that fails to pop-up. << assumption, please docment.<<<
Always update your BIOS 1st, the Net frame (v4?). Then try the update land.
    ===
As I would hate to experience a freeze during a BIOS update
Dont BIOS update during a rain storm. or power fauilure.  Always use a ISO (cd) version of this.  Download/burn this version  in case.  Then use the other version, Update from windows. (you now have a backup).
Please research your hardware install guide, as too how to RESET BIOS eeprom.  Get tweezers, change the jump prom clip. BIOS flash from 0. Jump prom clip back.   Is this scary, yesl jumper is on mother board.
    so
    1 3 5
    2 4 6
Plastic jumper is 34 56. Change to 1234, and you reload a bios from blank. You can enter UUID, serial number and fun stuff.
Do not loose the plastic jumper. Turn the a/c off. Have reading glasses.  But this is the solution to what if BIOS update freezes.  Also have a ISO backup of the previous  release  of BIOS on CD.

  • ITunes & WMP freeze when importing 2nd CD

Sorry if this is repetitive, but haven't got this figured out yet. At first I thought it was just iTunes, but i've found that WMP 11 also freezes. I am able to import an initial CD without a problem, but when I put in the next one to rip/import, my computer completely freezes and I have to power off/on to get it started again. I've tried many suggestions in this and other forums with no luck. I also contaced Gateway computer support which didn't help. Any suggestions are grealy appreciated. Here's the diagnostics:

For anyone who may be having this same problem, I may have found a work-around! I still don't know what's causing the problem, but maybe this will give someone out there a clue to solve it. I have found a way to import consecutive CD's without the freeze-up. Try following these steps:
    1) Import the first CD (no problems)
    2) Eject the CD and CLOSE iTunes
    3) Load the next CD into the drive BEFORE opening iTunes
    4) Open iTunes and the CD imports without a problem!
Haven't tried to see if this works around the same problem I was having with WMP yet, but suspect it does. So it appears that the problem may be with the drive or program not being able to 'reset' after importing the first CD??? Hope this helps someone figure out the root of the problem, and in the mean time hopefully you can at least get your music onto your pod without having to power off/on after every CD!

  • How to fix the mouse and keyboard freezing when installing Windows 7 on 27' iMac late 2013?

Hi, I have a question for u guys who can solve this.
I recently bought the new 27' iMac late 2013, and I installed some softwares and used it for few days.
Before I bought this I used the 15' Macbook Pro Retina, I installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and I used the Windows for gaming.
    So back to my question.
So I bought the new iMac and I was tying to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (with the same CD).
After dividing the partition, and other stuff, the iMac rebooted and I hold down the option (alt) key. I choose the Windows CD, and it said it is "getting ready to install Windows". I let it load, and the blue screen where you choose the language, time/location and keyboard input popped up. At the bottom right corner (at the same page), there is a button that said "Next (N)" which u need to click it to go to the next step. I was moving my mouse to click the button, but I realized that my mouse and keyboard was frozen. I tried both wireless and wired mouse and keyboard but they didn't work. There was nothing I could do. I hold the power button, (that was the only option) and tried my mouse and keyboard on Mac OS and it worked fine.
I thought something went wrong in the CD so I bought the Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The result was same. It frizzed again. (I just wast few hundred $)
Latter my friend lend me his Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit. I tried it, and it worked, it didn't freezed on Windows 8.
The problem is I played Battlefield 4, Titan fall, and Watch Dogs, and Battlefield 4 multiplayer doesn't work on Windows 8.1. Even though when it works on Windows 8, I prefer using Windows 7.
Dose anyone knows how to fix this freezing thing?
    My computer is:
27' iMac late 2013 (bought it just few days ago)
I did no upgrades when I bought it, except the graphic card.
I bought the iMac in Korean Apple Store, and my Windows CD is in Korean, can that be a problem?
Please leave a comment when u think u can solve my problem.

    See -> http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf.
In addition to the Windows disc (or USB flash drive with the Windows installer) you'll need a 8GB+ flash drive.
The referenced manual - on page 3, I think, gives you a run-down of what you'll need before you begin the installation. You may also want to post any further Boot Camp questions in the Boot Camp forum -> https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp.

  • "null driver" freeze when installing bootcamp 2.1 ( 2.0) on XP

    hi all,
i'm having big trouble updating from bootcamp 2.0 to bootcamp 2.1 on my XP home sp2 partition. Reason seems to be the same as when I went from 1.4 beta to 2.0: the null driver ( and later the ethernet driver). I got past the problem by simply copying the leopard upgrade CD content to my HD and manually deleting the null.exe and the other one, so it finally worked after lots of trying. But the 2.1 update exe from the apple download page does not have separate folders with the driver exe files that I can delete, so everytime the install reaches the null driver, I get a total freeze / crash.
I'd be more than glad for any help on this one.
    Thanks!

  • Mac freezes when installing Dreamweaver CS

I've downloaded the current trial version of Dreamweaver CS
and tried several times to install it on a Mac running OSX. But
every time, when the installation screen gets to the point where it
says it is installing Dreamweaver CS, the progress bar freezes and
the installation doesn't complete. I've let it sit for a half hour,
    but the installation doesn't complete.
I've tried uninstalling and it hangs too during the
    uninstallation.
I have the most current OSX updates installed, and I've
downloaded Dreamweaver CS three times with the same result each
    time.
Any suggestions on how I can get Dreamweaver CS to install
    correctly?

  • Updating the Security Update 2009 freezes when installing.

I don't update with the Software Updater anymore because it froze while updating the combo pack for OSX.4.1-11. I just use it to see what I need then I go to the Apple Support Downloads and update everything from there. Well now I'm trying to install the Security Update 2009 and it freezes right at the beginning of the install. I've zapped my pramm and have restarted my computer a number of times now and nothing works. I have a 450mhz dual processor G4 PPC with 512mb sdram running os 10.4.11. Does anyone know why it keeps freezing and if there is something I can do to stop it from freezing?
Oh yeah and I'm also trying to update to Java 8 and the page to download it from has a 404 error. Anyone know where else I can download Java 8 from, I'll do some more searching on google but if anyone can post a link that would be awesome. Ok n/m about the link I found it here: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10246230

    Updating
Certain steps appear to minimize the risk of an update producing problems.
Number one is to make sure you have a bootable clone backup of your computer in case you do need to back out of it again. This is the only guaranteed way of not having to worry about the results of an update.
Some like to boot from their installer discs or an external backup and verify (and if necessary repair) their internal drives as well as drive permissions. This is done with Disk Utility. You can verify a drive while booted from the same drive but sometimes this produces spurious errors. Repairing a drive (if necessary) has to be done while booted from another disk. Permissions repair can, and is probably best, done when booted from your internal drive.

    [Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751]
You can also go to the step of booting into safe mode to do the install.

[Safe Boot takes longer than normal startup|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107394]
I like to download the update onto my computer and install it from there rather than let Software Update do it. I know a few people who had problems with doing the update via software updater found a manual install to work.
    Repair permissions again afterward.
It helps to only install one update at a time and to run the computer for a while to make sure it is behaving well.
The more cautious even like to unplug third party peripherals (see [comment by BDaqua|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9040746#9040746]).
Almost all of the above steps (except backup) have been questioned as to necessity because probably many people have done successful updates without doing them. I say they can't hurt, they can very likely do good (especially if your computer isn't regularly maintained), so why not do them to be safe.

  • IMac freezes when installing snow leopard

This iMac intel was formerly owned by a friend. i got it last week and he said I would own it if I could fix the two major problems:
    (1) The LCD screen has alot of dints/freezed pixels when running linux, and these freezed pixels are roughly distributed on several horizontal strip zones. Please refer to the attached pictures. And when booting Linux, some words are wrongly displayed, which doesnot happen on my another PC which runs the same version of linux.
    (2) Although there is the above problem, this imac runs well with Fedora OS 6. however, when I try to install Mac OS 10.6, it freezes on the first step of installation. More serious, there are distorts of pictures and more dints/pixels. some times, the cursor of the mouse is surrounded by some fixed pixels that move together with the cursor.
    So my question is:
    (1) Whats the major problem of this iMac, video card, logic board or the LCD screen? I do not believe the logic board ahs big problem, because this machine runs well with Fedora 6. Maybe both the graphic card and the LCD has problem.
    (2) If the video card is faulty, can I replace it?
    Thanks all!

You can attempt to reset the PRAM in the machine, but it looks as though there's a hardware problem. It's actually kind of difficult to determine if it's the graphics hardware or the mainboard, but neither are really servicable. You'll want to take it to get serviced.
