Hi all.
Been using this router for a while now without encryption turned on (live in the woods) and want to enable it now. When I enable encryption through the router's page (192.168.1.1), will I be given a key and then just enter that key when asked by every machine? Haven't ever used encryption so I am sorry for such a noob question. Thanks in advance for any help.

well once you enable wireless security on the router, initially it would ask for security code on every wireless computer, after that it won't ask for code again and again...

What kind of Mac to you have? This camera is a tape based DV one that connects best with firewire and I cannot tell if your Mac has firewire. If your mac *does* have firewire, get a camcorder firewire cable and try again.
ETA: Oops, I am pretty sure that all the "desktop iMacs" have firewire, so you should be good to go. You will probably need a cord that goes from FW800 to your camcorder.

Got new ATV and all set up. It keeps loosing connection with iTunes on laptop and have tried everything suggested in set up guide. It works fine for a while then the iTunes account vanishes from 'computer' menu TV screen. Full Wifi signal on both devices

Sorry, I updated another thread I was a part of but didn't update my own thread.....ughhh!
I updated all of my ATV 2's and 3's to the latest firmware when it was released and have been problem free since. I do believe the major issue of not being able to connect after a period of inactivity has been corrected with the latest ATV firmware.
I can look at my network connection table using "netstat -an" in a CMD window and I do not see the massive number of connections I saw before the update.

Can I use AE with Mac at home and PC on road.

Currently I use my AE at home to enable wireless printing with my airport extreme base station between my powermac, a mac mini and a windows laptop. The AE is configured using the airport admin utility on my powermac.
So my question is can I take my AE with me when I'm on the road with my win laptop and setup wireless internet in my hotel room. I'm assuming to do this I'd have to change the firmware in the AE to the windows version or am I able to just download the windows airport utility and not have to change firmware?

Yes you could take the AE unit with you, but you would only get wireless internet in your room if the hotel offered broadband through an Ethernet port. You'll find more and more hotels now offer wireless access in their rooms.
As you are wanting to change the functionality of the AE unit while on the road, you will need the Airport configuration software for the OS you will be travelling with. There's nothing as drastic as changing the firmware in the AE unit. You will find that the settings you left in the AE unit while configuring on your PowerMac will be re-configurable with the Windows Airport software. You can install the Windows Airport software on your laptop now and configure the AE unit just as easily as you can from your PowerMac.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

LR mobile is part of your CC subscription. Otherwise none has much to do with the other. per se there is no CC for iPad, but there are some complimentary apps that can work with an existing CC account, mostly by exchanging data via the web storage/ sync feature.

Old visa open, error code 1073807343, using VISA with a GPIB device, and VISA resource names

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to get a SRS model SR720 LCR meter (manual on this page) working with LabView, connecting it to my PC with an Agilent 82357A GPIB/USB interface (manual on this page). I'm running MAX version 14.0, and NI-VISA version 14.0. I'm running LabView version 13.0f2, 32 bit.
I followed the directions on this page, and I'm pretty confident I can communicate with my LCR meter, because I can go to NI MAX->GPIB0::17::INSTR under "devices and interfaces", then go to the VISA test panel, go to the I/O tab, and I can enter a few commands from the SR720 manual, like changing the frequency, and I see the light on the LCR meter change to what I just told it to do. Here is a picture, just to illustrate it:

So, that's good too. I also made the alias of this device "MyLCRmeter", but that shouldn't matter for now.
Now I'm trying to get it to work in a more usable way. The SR7xx drivers that LabView found for me came with a couple sample programs, one called "Getting Started.vi". I tried to just simply see if it worked, changing the "instrument descriptor" field to "GPIB0::17::INSTR", since that's the one that seemed to be the right device in MAX. Here is a picture of the front panel of "Getting Started.vi":

Doing a bit of searching on these forums, I found these few threads (1 2 3), which seem to tell me that, since this program was written, the way you open VISA has changed. In the 2nd of those links, one guy said:
You just have to replace the Old VISA Open function with the VISA Open that is on the Instrument I/O>VISA>VISA Advanced palette. When you do that, the wire to the string that was used for the resource name will be broken. Delete the string and make the actual VISA Resource Name visible on the front panel. Wire the VISA Resource Name control to the connector pane where the string control was (upper left connection).
So, I went into the sub-VI Initialize.vi, and did that. Here is a picture of what the front panel and block diagram of the sub-VI Initialize2.vi (I changed the name in case I screwed things up, but I'm pretty sure the new one is the one being called by Getting Started.vi) looked like before I changed anything (you can see the Old VISA Open):
and here it is after replacing that with the regular VISA Open, deleting the instrument descriptor string and replacing it with a VISA resource, and connecting that to the VISA Open:
However, as you can see in the image above, and it seems like someone else had this problem in the 2nd thread linked above, I don't see my device listed in the drop-down menu (even if I refresh), only "LPT1" (I don't even know what that is):

If I just enter the VISA resource name from MAX manually, GPIB0::17::INSTR, and save and try running that, I get the error(code -1073807346):

So I'm not sure where to go from there, or why it's not in the drop down menu to begin with. I'm sorry if I've missed something but I've searched about as far as I can go. If I had to guess, maybe one thing could be that in MAX, under Tools->NI-VISA->VISA Options->My System->Conflict manager, I have both Agilent VISA and NI VISA enabled; I know sometimes problems arise from conflicts between different software fighting over the same hardware. Is this okay, or do I need to change it?

Hi, I did indeed enable NiVisaTulip.dll under MAX->Tools->NI-VISA->VISA Options->My system->Passports->List of passports. Sorry, I should have mentioned that explicitly.
By install as primary, do you just mean as it is here, where it is selected as the "Preferred VISA"?
Or somewhere else? I installed NI-VISA first I believe, and then the Agilent one, and during the installation of the Agilent one, I'm pretty sure I made it not the primary. Here's what I have in the Agilent (it's called Keysight now) Connection Expert software:

The operating system on my macbook is mac os X 10.5.8. i am sure it is not a problem of streaming music online because i have even tried playing music which are stored in my macbook.

I am shocked to have found this same AX audio dropout problem starting TODAY, every few seconds the audio just drops for a couple seconds and then resumes: Latest software versions of everything. No iPad, iPhone or Touch. Internet hardwired to D-Link DES1105 (1000baseT Switch) hardwired to new 80211N AX, AX optical to stereo, AX Wi-Fi internet to basic 1st-gen MacBook operating at 80211G, and an older 'G' AX extender at the far end of the house, away from all this. The MacBook streaming iTunes is usually 12 feet from AX. I've used this setup for years of trouble-free AirTunes / Airplay until today. Today I also found 2 very reliable fixes and 1 way to force a dropout, but first, I read some posts and tried ALL following settings one-at-a-time and restored them ALL because NONE of them helped: Turned off IPV6. Streamed to multiple speakers 'Computer' and 'AX' (restored to just AX). Turned off 'Ask to Join new (WiFi) Networks'. Turned off Bluetooth (can't live without Magic Trackpad, so glad that wasn't it). Here's my discoveries: Lo and behold, each time I click the Airport icon in the Menu (you know it shows you've got 4 bars from AX) when the status switches to 'Looking for Networks' for a second it CAUSES the AX audio to drop out for a couple seconds (it never did that before today.) iTunes still playing, streaming, AX laser still lit, but the 'PCM' light on stereo and the sound GOES OUT EVERY time I click the Airport icon in the menubar, just like the regular, annoying dropouts. So, to reduce traffic I quit Safari (3 tabs, no streaming, just Gmail, Google, and Netflix browsing). Lo and behold, the dropouts stopped altogether. No other Web apps going (not iTunes Store, Genius, Ping, nothing), so I launched Chrome to the same 3 tabs and the dropouts HAVE NOT RETURNED. That's right, not only did simply QUITTING SAFARI cure it, and Chrome doesn't contribute to it, but I can demonstrate it just by forcing my Airport to re-scan. Works for me, written using Chrome. The other reliable fix is to hardwire MacBook to the Switch. This is obviously not ideal, but Airplay audio doesn't drop out over Ethernet. Also, in all my tests, it made no difference whether iTunes did the streaming, or Airfoil did.

Then you might check at any of the other university book stores or software stores or any computer store in town for the 64-bit version.
If you want to use the 32-bit version from the school (you probably get it for free or very cheap) then you could purchase Parallels and run it as a virtual machine concurrently with OS X. There are some caveats:
1. You have to purchase Parallels (there may be an academic discount.) List is $79.95.
2. Your computer needs minimally 4 GBs of RAM, but realistically 8 GBs would be better.
3. Parallels creates a pseudo-drive on your hard drive. It could easily require 50 GBs of disk space.
Accommodating these might be more costly than buying 64-bit Windows 7. And, if you look online you may find them with an academic discount (or may be able to order it through the school.)
