WMV Converter or Player

I have two WMV files I would like to transfer and play on my Nexus. I tried a WMV converter, but it put advertising in my file. Which is best to use, a converter or player? I read some of the reviews in marketplace for aps, but this is my first Droid (came from Windows Mobile) and I am overwhelmed. Will someone please suggest a specific app or product? Remember, I only have two files. In advance, thanks so much for your help.

FYI,
If you can't get this to work with WMV files, the Telesteeam site has an updated Flip4Mac plugin compatible with OS X Mavericks.

The Flip4Mac update is available from the Telestream site OR from the Mac App Store.

  • Free wmv converter for mac???

does anyone know a free wmv converter for mac? I tried MPEG streamclip and wmv is the only format it won't convert the whole file for, it only does 10 secs and from what I know this isn't a demo.

Try this site for a free conversion; media-convert.
Post back if you have success with it...I never used it...have F4M, which is worth it if you intend to do conversion often.

  • WMV Convert

    Hello,
I am making a dvd in iDVD. I shot the footage from it with my semi-new digital video camera, but I downloaded the footage on my PC last year so it downloaded as WMV. Now that it is on my mac I am trying to convert that file to mpg or something that will work in iDVD.Does anyone know a WMV converter. I have lost the tape witht his footage on it by the way,s o I am just going with the file.
    Thanx

Check out www.flip4mac.com You will need to buy the $99 version since you are planning to use it in iDVD...
...unless you are cheap like me and still have access to a PC. If you look on www.tucows.com, you can find several converters for about $30 that convert from .wmv format to other formats that Quicktime Pro ($29) can read. Flip4Mac is the easiest, though, since you don't have to do any extra steps.

  • Best WMV converter

I have a client who insists on asking for his videos as .wmv files. I have tried every setting possible with Quicktime and FilpForMac WMV codec... But the videos always look terrible! Very pixelated. I've adjusted bit rates, quality settings, everything.
I'm mostly converting DV NTSC 720x480 videos to small 320x240 files for internet use. They usually want files no larger than 40mb. But I can always achieve much better results with H.264 files at the same size. There is no comparison. I don't want wmv to be as good as h.264, but is there a way for it to be acceptable?
    Am I doing something wrong?

Maria, I'm in the same boat and I get excellent results with flip4mac. THe trick is to use an outlandish bit rate, 2 pass VBR with a base rate of 2000 @ 320x240 will be stunning. How long are the pieces you're doing?

    Hi,
To convert Videos compatible with your Nokia device, you can try using the Nokia Video Manager in the Nokia PC Suite or you can use Total Video Converter, Videora Converter. I use both of the them.

Just curious if Compressor or better yet for what I am doing final cut can compress to a wmv (windows media format)? for the sake of downloading of our website.

  • What program to convert wmv to DVD video?

I thought I could use idvd but turns out it's only avi...So what's the best way to do this?
Also how do you merge short clips together so they'll play right after the other instead of going to the menu every time and choosing what you want?
    Thanks

You need Flip4Mac Player Pro (or higher) to convert WMV files to QuickTime so you can use them in iMovie or iDVD.
So, the simple answer is WMV video -> Flip4Mac Player Pro -> QuickTime video -> iDVD, iMovie, Final Cut, QTPro, etc.
You will have to use iMovie or Final Cut to assemble clips together. When finished, export to iDVD.

  • Converting WMV and non apple files on the net

I'm very new to apple, and I love my new machine, however, I cannot open any microsoft based files eg. wmv files on the internet and I thought that the conversion would be much simpler. I called tec support and was directed to flip4mac.com, however I couldn't install the wmv converter onto the macbook, has anyone figured this out??
    Please Help
    Drew

Flip4mac.com will have a Universal version of their plugin soon. It is the best option as it will run natively on the Intel chip.
You might be able to find an old version of Windows Media Player for the Mac but it is being discontinued.

  • Converting MPEG 4 to a WMV file - do I need flip4mac?

    Hello
I have edited a 1 1/2 min movie and converted it into an MPEG 4 using quick time conversion. My client needs it as a WMV. How do I do this using Final Cut? Do I have to invest in Flip4Mac?
They also want it as a Flash format. I've tried to export my quicktime file but cant see the option for Flash.
Thanks for your help in advance!
    Mel

so just to be sure, I cant do it without flip4mac?
    Well, google certainly can help:
    http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=MOVto+WMV+converter&btnG=GoogleSearch&meta=
I think Visual Hub was an option until recently but I believe is not longer available.
n terms of Flash how do I change the .mov extention to .flv?
Create your mov file than highlight the files title/name then single click it and change extension, you'll be prompted to confirm your choice. This is not a distractive action. You can change that back if you wish.

  • Video Converter for Zen SD S

Hi all. I just bought a 4gb zen for my wife and I'm looking for a decent video converter, aside from the included Media browser one. The problem with that one is that it seems to automatically load the video onto the player (even after I unchecked the 'load to player' radio button), which isn't desired. I'd much prefer to keep the player filled with music, and load video onto an SD card separately.
Anyone able to confirm a piece of software that works for the zen? I've tried a couple that output to WMV, but the player refuses to play them back. To confirm, video converted to WMV by the zen software (taken off the zen and then put onto the SD card) works fine.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I own a ZV:M for myself for which I generally use DivX Converter for video, but the new Zen will only play WMV9 and MJPEG (something that a lot of digital cameras utilize... not so good for the Zen). Do WMV specific converter files from MovAVI Suite work for you, 'cause a DivX outputted file will definnitely not work for the new Zens.
    Thanks.
